one article regarding differences in body temperature for humans in hot climates:
There’s a rift in the Star Trek fan community. A polarising issue of great importance. Are Vulcans hot? (Yes, obviously, but are they hot and also literally cold?)
Ok so I know what I think the answer is, but I’ve seen it both ways many times in fics. I’d love to know what everyone thinks. Explain in tags!
Apparently the Star Fleet Medical Reference Manual (1977) states that normal Vulcan body temperature is 32.78C. But I dont consider that canon.
#ok so assuming vulcan is always hot which i think is generally the assumption though I've always wondered about shouldn't nights be cold#REGARDLESS#assuming vulcan is always hot and assuming vulcan bodies work relatively similar to human bodies in terms of temp regulation#so far studies have shown that people from hotter climates have much higher core temps#so I'd say he runs hotter so on vulcan his body doesn't have to work to adjust to the heat#which means in cold environments his body is physically hot which is bad for him bc it means he's not conserving his heat efficiently#although I think those studies are generally for tropical hot climates#I'm not sure about desert hot but again it's confusing that as far as I've seen vulcan isn't said to be cold at night#🤔
