came across Fake Accounts, which is this book about a woman who discovers that her boyfriend is a conspiracy theory poster online and then like moves to Berlin to deal with it?? I picked it up because like ‘hey!! I moved to Berlin too!’ And like. Wow is this a terrible book. I haven’t read a book this entertainingly awful in a while. The main character is so unlikeable in the exact way that extremely out-of-touch features in The Cut written by rich white millennial women whose world begins and ends in their trendy social circle in New York are? you know what I mean? Like that lack of perspective and kind of so blinded to your privilege that every setback becomes like a world-ending catastrophe and every observation is a pearl of wisdom?

I got as far as the second chapter which is a flashback about how she met that boyfriend when he was a group tour guide in Berlin. She is traveling with some Brazilians she met in Vienna beforehand and she never bothers to name the Brazilians, which I think says it all in terms of character
