Every time I think about the 54% adults in the US are reading below a 6th grade level... that's like not able to understand or read Twilight or Holes...
#rant#it feels like there should be a Lot more optional literacy tutoring programs in the US given this info!#theres 1 in my whole city and it shut down years ago...#meanwhile after school programs and libraries could fill up sessions if they had some. id tutor....#i dont know how people are supposed to work. shop. bank. without the ability to read#like of Course illiterate people are suceptible to propaganda videos and cant critically think#because even if they critically question they Cant look up facts and sources if they cant read the text#but like... u have to read to buy on Amazon. to read loan terms at banks.#to do office emails! to do diagnostic reports as a mechanic!#illiteracy makes it so hard to work and get by in society.#so a worsening of reading skills is gonna... cause big problems. isnt it?#i mean yes if u cant read well so people lie online... you fall for it easier or simply dont undersrand whats real#but these people will need jobs to take care of themselves... even factory work requires reading skill
