Festival Prizes
Akari gets Ingo a sneasel mask at the Jubilife festival, as thanks for entering festival contests to help her win tokens for a prize.
This was written off of a request to write something based off of this drawing of mine! And then it morphed into something much bigger after I asked my discord for a type of contest that could be going on at the festival. I got a lot of different contests and game booth suggestions, and decided to include as many as I could haha. Thanks guys!
OR read here on AO3!
Enjoy!

“Ingo, I’m back!”
The warden glanced away from the dancing and the fireworks to see Akari approaching him through the festive groups of people, several things clutched in her hands, and Powder perched on her shoulder.
Akari squeezed through the last of the crowd and joined Ingo on the bench he was sitting on, set against the side of Choy’s storefront. From her shoulder, Powder chirped excitedly, tiny claws gripped around a dango stick. Akari had a few more in her hand, holding onto them as she set her other various things down beside her.
She took one of the sticks, holding the treat out to Ingo. “Dango?”
The warden’s face seemed to pale, tinting a sickly shade of green at the mere sight of the dango.
“Oh, kidding, I’m kidding! I got your tea.” Half-surprised to see such a strong reaction, Akari retracted the dango, switching to offer a hot cup to him instead. “Beni told me to congratulate you, by the way. He said he’d never even seen Cyllene eat that much mochi in one sitting!”
“And he’ll likely never witness that again,” Ingo received the cup, swallowing down some of the lingering green nausea as he focused his gaze on the steaming drink. Hopefully it would settle some of the roiling backlash he was suffering through after participating in a mochi-eating contest on Akari’s behalf. And the stomachache wasn’t even fully worth it - he had only achieved second place. “I feel like I don’t- ugh, like I don’t need to refuel for a week.”
“Well I think you did pretty good, considering you were all competing against Mai’s Munchlax,” Akari sat back to chew on her own dango stick as Ingo groaned into his cup of tea. She was of course empathetic, but it was obvious she was more entertained by the whole thing than he was at the moment. “I mean, can you imagine if the contest was to out-eat Kamado’s Snorlax instead?”
“That would not even be a contest, the tracks would be so uneven.” Ingo mustered a laugh that trailed off into sort of another groan. “Thank you for the tea, Miss Akari.”
“Mmm-hm,” The teen hummed around her mouthful of dango, before she sat up. “Oh, also! Look what I found over there! These were right next to Beni’s stand, I had to get them!”
She reached over to retrieve something beside her, and held something out to him. Circular, flattish, and face-side down, it had the general shape of those Pokémon masks Ingo had seen being sold at a lot of the booths.
Had she bought one of those for him? Ingo accepted the circular, flattish object as Akari held it out to him. White and lightweight, he turned it over to be surprisingly greeted with familiar wide eyes, a small nose, and a curved smirk - a face identical to Powder’s.
It was a hisuian sneasel mask!
“Powder spotted them, and got really excited. I just had to get one for both of us!” Akari was already securing her own mask on the side of her head, much to Powder’s delight. The runt chirped happily as she stared at it, her muzzle decorated with bits of dango. “Also… yeah, it’s kind of a consolation prize for making yourself sick just for me in that last contest. And for having to put up with Melli.”
With the way Melli had laughed after the contest had ended, going on about how of course no one could beat the Diamond Clan at any competition, one would have thought he had personally won the competition, not Mai’s munchlax.
Ingo’s nauseous frown pulled into a fragile smile at the teen’s thoughtful gesture as he admired the mask’s craftsmanship. Whoever had made them had really been faithful to a hisuian sneasel’s face, right down to the correct facial markings and mischievous smile.
“Ah, the gift is much appreciated, Miss Akari, thank you.” Ingo copied her, and fastened it on his head. “I am sure my Lady and her kits will be just as amused as Powder was, when I show this to them. Though, I am curious, where did you find these? I’ve yet to see a sneasel festival mask for sale at any of the booths.”
He had seen plenty of masks being sold resembling shinx, crogunk, bidoof, mime jr, and even buneary, just to name a few. But no sneasels… he hadn’t even considered there would be, seeing as most every mask was modeled after a Pokémon native to the fieldlands.
“No, I didn’t have to spend anything! They were prizes at the last game booth I needed to find!” Ingo could hear the pride creep up in her voice - rightfully so. Whatever the game was, she must have been very good at it, as she had only been gone a few more minutes than expected. Even for her, that was surprisingly quick. “Bucket toss becomes pretty easy after I’ve thrown so many pokeballs for fieldwork. I felt like I could have done it with my eyes closed!”
Ah, that explained the speed.
“Well then, I should say I’m not surprised you did well,” Ingo felt it was only right to compliment her after she went through the trouble of getting it for him. “Though not to discredit your skills, but you've also done exceptionally well at just about every activity tonight.”
It had taken Akari no more than three tries to win a specific magikarp for sweet Ceci, a self-proclaimed fanatic of the scrawny Pokémon, at the Magikarp Scoop booth. “I’m gonna take really good care of it, so it grows to be as big as the one on top of the Galaxy Hall!” The little girl exclaimed with happiness when Akari handed the magikarp off to her.
The teen had done just as well with a ring toss, her prize being a colorful set of handmade thread bracelets; all three of which were now loosely worn around Powder’s tiny neck. The runt thoroughly loved the gift, having no prior trinkets of her own due to greedy siblings - Ingo made a mental note to keep an eye on her, in case any of them would try to snatch them from her when they would later return to the den.
And it was like that for many of the booths - Yo-Yo Fishing, Balloon Pop, Stack the Pokeshis… She had even done well participating at the booths that focused on luck rather than skill; Guess the Number of Beans, Which Cup is it Under, Pick the Box… Almighty Sinnoh must have really wanted her to do well.
Though, while she enjoyed receiving and sharing the plentiful prizes she was winning, the effort was not for them, but something else.
“Well, I’ve gotta try my best when we’re so close!” Akari finished off her mochi. “We only need…”
She paused for a moment, plucking out a small bag and dumping small coins into her hand to count them.
“...two more tokens!”
To Akari, the real prizes were the participant tokens. Each booth gave out one unique token if their game could be beaten, but contests were more varied with their distribution. Six tokens if you could land first place, four for second, and two for third. Be the first to accumulate twenty-five tokens over the night, and one could exchange them for a valuable comet shard.
Akari really wanted that comet shard.
The issue was, there were only nine booths. To get twenty-five, one would need to participate in the contests. And with the booths being locked to one unique token per person, Ingo was doing his best to assist her the only way he could; by earning contest tokens. Particularly from some of the more… impractical ones for a fifteen-year-old to compete in, like trying to beat a munchlax at an eating contest.
The whole challenge seemed a little rigged (And with the incredible prize, it was understandable), but not impossible with a little help.
The first contest had been easy enough; Professor Laventon had set up a quiz-style competition that tested one’s knowledge on Pokémon. Various questions had gone over Pokémons’ types, evolution stages, and even silhouette identification. Of course, Ingo and Akari had nailed that one and landed first and second place easily, collectively earning ten tokens together.
The second competition, well… Ingo was currently reeling over the results of that one.
“I apologize,” Ingo watched Akari plop the tokens back into her bag as he took another sip from his tea. “If I had not faltered to Munchlax, you would not be two tokens short of your ticket.”
“No, it’s ok! You still got four of them for me!” Akari assured him. “Besides, there’s one more contest we can still participate in!”
The teen paused for a moment, rethinking her words.
“Or, more like you can participate in… I don’t think I’d make the top three. Um, how bad are you still feeling right now?”
Ingo wasn’t sure he liked the foreboding nature of that question. “The tracks are not as smooth as they could be, but thanks to the tea, better than earlier. Is that relevant?”
“Well the competition, it’s…” Ingo was all too aware of the I know you won’t like this tone creeping into Akari’s voice. “It’s a little more, um, physical?”
Ingo’s insides flip-flopped. “It’s that arm wrestling event I’ve heard others talking about all night, isn’t it?”
“Maybeeee..?” The teen drew the word out, giving Ingo a pleading look. Powder even glanced around her shoulder to mimic the same face at the warden.
“Miss Akari, I’m a little uncertain if I should…” Ingo did not feel like pushing himself too hard, and throwing up four plates of potato mochi all over any potential competitors.
“Please? We’re so close!” Akari urged. She held up her arm and pulled an exaggerated display of flexing. “And you’re strong! You can beat, like, ninety-five percent of the people here! You can do it!”
Ingo was inclined to scoff at that - not at Akari herself, but her words. He felt like she was either genuinely overestimating him, or just trying to motivate him with excess encouragement. He sighed, shifting a little on the bench. “Is anyone participating that I should be cautious of?”
“Um, well I saw Zisu and Gaeric kind of lingering around the booth when I passed by…”
Well, there was that other five percent. Ingo was dreading that answer - he could never dream of beating them at this competition, but at this point he had been expecting their participation.
Though Akari was right. They were so close. Only two more tokens… and how could he deny her this after she got him such a nice festival mask?
“When does the registry close for this?” Ingo stared down at the small amount of tea still left in his cup as he swished it around gently. Well, at least until the movements pointedly (and nauseously) reminded him of his stomach contents at the moment. He stopped before he could turn green again.
“I think in a few minutes? It’s when the fireworks end.” The wary hope rising in Akari’s voice was already motivating Ingo to follow through with this. He tipped his head back and forced the rest of his tea down along with a weak bout of nausea, before moving to get back onto his feet. Akari followed after, jumping up quickly as Powder yowled excitedly.
“Well, you only require two more tokens, correct? I could… attempt to set my tracks towards third place, I suppose. Let's get you that comet shard.”

Cynthia *giving a private guided tour of a museum of early Sinnoh history to Dawn*: and part of the problem with figuring out what happened in the early days is that not only did very few texts survive, but the ones that did are incredibly mysterious!
Dawn *playing on her phone and not really listening*: uh-huh.
Cynthia: For example, Cyllene’s diary was partially recovered and it was filled with words and phrases that are unusual for the time period and that have never been fully translated! It is also interesting to note that of the unusual words bear a striking resemblance to today’s slang!
Dawn: cool.
Cynthia: even linguists and other experts in language evolution and history are stumped!
Dawn: yeah.
Cynthia: Dawn, you really should try to pay attention! As the new champion you’re supposed to be a role model to all of Sinnoh!
Dawn: *sigh* yeah ok.
———-
*a week later in Cynthia’s office*
*Dawn bursts open Cynthia’s door with a bang. She’s in a ripped up Survey Corps uniform, slightly singed and has a black eye*
Cynthia: Wha-
Dawn: hey, yeah, so I found out why Cyllene and Laventon and other early texts were using modern slang, and I’m sorry but it was too fucking funny to hear them say ‘scrunkly’ and ‘blorbos’ with a straight face to pass up.
Cynthia: uh, I-
Dawn: And Arceus is a fucking dick.
Cynthia: I- well, yes but-
Dawn: and your ancestor was just as crazy as Cyrus but also really hot, just fyi.
Cynthia: how do you-
Dawn: Also, My name is Akari now.
Cynthia: I - uh, ok??
Akari: awesome, glad that’s cleared up. Im gonna go pass out now. *faints*

Ayo, not to be angsty on main but,
What if Ingo got sent back right before the banishment of the hero from the village. And he had to read how his wife got abandoned by the village as well?
Angsty menace :)
You’re going to be the reason I drink /j lh

Emmet had taken Ingo to a museum in Sinnoh to try and help him grieve. Thinking maybe if Ingo saw the stories and items it would help his grieving process.
Emmet already knew you were still stuck in Hisui, he isn’t sure what’s going on or how it happened, but he wanted to be there for his brother. The expressive twin can only hope you’d return.
They walked through the museum, listening to Ingo tell stories of whatever was in front of him, or explaining in better detail how it was used or what it was used for.
But then came to the pictures and journals.
Ingo tears up at the sight of old friends, telling Emmet about every last one of them and how he met them and what they were like.
“What about those two?” Emmet points to the only two people his brother didn’t speak about.
“Oh, the old fellow there is Kamado, he was the commander for galaxy team and the head of Jubilife village, he is the one who sent my dear on all those mission….he never seemed to warm up to them or me for that matter.” Ingo hums at the memories of the man.
“And him?”
“That’s Volo, I never liked the energy he gave off, or the looks he gave the hero, like there was something else he was thinking of, I didn’t trust him.”
The two stood there looking around for a minute. Well Emmet was.
Ingo was busy looking at the photo, you stood in the center of the group, little Lian and Sabi on either side of you, Laventon was to your left and had his arms around you and Rei, Cyllene stood closely to your right, and your hands were on the young wardens who looked to be a bit older than when he had seen them last.
Oh how he missed you.
A gasp checks his attention and he looks over to Emmet who is trying to practically hide the next exhibit.
“What’s wrong?” The stoic twin narrows his eyes, staring suspiciously at his twin.
“N-nothing! Not a thing! Hey I’m really tired, we should head back to the hotel!” Frantic silver eyes dart around avoiding the stable ones.
Ingo pushes passed Emmet and reads the next exhibit.
It was a simple journal, one he recognized. It was yours.
The book was kept safe behind glass but they hand panels along the wall of what was written inside.
He glares, you would’ve hated this, you liked your privacy.
But he reads one panel.
‘Day xx year xxxx
‘I don’t know what to do, after all I have done you’d think Kamado wouldn’t have banished be so quickly, everyone was even telling him it wasn’t a good idea.
The one thing Irida and Adaman agreed on and it had to be this? Even worse he said if anyone of the clans were to help me he’d start a war, looks like I’m on my own, yet again.’
Banished? He started reading the panels in order to understand what happened after he left.
Emmet stands behind him, nervous about what is most likely to happen.
Ingo read it all, the day of the hero’s banishment.
And you still helped them, you’re too good for them.
But your somber tone carried into each page you wrote, almost like you were spiraling into a depression.
“Ingo?” Emmet said carefully, as if any louder would break whatever was holding the former warden up.
Emmet watches as his brother’s body trembling. Leaning to the side he sees tears furiously falling and Ingo biting his hand to keep the sobs at bay.
“Come on buddy, let’s take a break.” The twin tenderly grabs his brothers free hand and drags him away and back into the rental car.
Where Ingo fully breaks down.
His body wracked with sobs, hat over his face to muffle his anguish wails.
Emmet let’s a few tears fall, you must’ve been so hurt by the betrayal, but this isn’t about how he feels right now.
He pats Ingo’s back gently shushing him.
Ingo can’t speak. He trusted them, with he memory coming back he thought he could trust Jubilife to at least take care of you.
Not betray you, he knows you had a familial bond with Rei, Laventon, and Cyllene, so why, why did they allow this?
He is grateful Irida and Adaman helped you in secret.
“I’m going to drive us back to hotel, okay? Then we can order some take out and we can cry some more over one of those reality shows you like!” Emmet is desperate to try and cheer his brother up.
Ingo only keeps his head down, trying to slow the tears.

Okay, so I’ve mentioned Cyrus encountering Akari, and Volo as a result, so here’s how I think it starts to go down.
I was leaning heavily towards @someoddmix‘s suggestion of having it happen due to Cyrus making deliveries via Giratina, but I think I’d like to make it a bit more accidental than that, at least to start with. Because I really, really like the idea of Akari getting antsy after being so used to being so highly active and involved in things daily back in Jubilife Village. Gonna say Cyrus been back about a year and ten months, meaning it’s been three months since it was decided he wasn’t going to be charged for his actions in Diamond/Pearl/Platinum (so it’s known that he’s back by people in Sinnoh, but he’s off in Kanto so it’s not much of an issue for them), and Akari arrived home again from Hisui about one month after Cyrus got dropped on Red’s mountain, was back and dealing with the Melli and Ingo situation for the next eight months, and the rest of it has been her readapting to modern life. So that’s about a year and one month of being back in Sinnoh without anything particularly ground-breaking she needs to do, and it’s been great, she really needed this, but she’s bored now. She wants to be out doing something again, you know? (Also, I think all that works within the timeline, but I cannot be bothered to check at the moment, because this is an AU, not a formal fic, I can fudge the details a little, as a treat.)
Anyway, this is the point where Dawn mentions that Kanto’s Pokemon League season is about to start, why not get out of Sinnoh for awhile and give that a shot, now that she’s gotten so good with training? Plus, don’t her friends Emmet and Ingo go there sometimes? Why not visit some of the places they’ve been herself, that could be fun!
Things Dawn doesn’t remember at the time: Blue is still the head of Viridian’s Gym, aka the final stop for the Indigo League, and Cyrus currently works as one of Blue’s trainers (and sometimes assistant).
Things Akari flat-out doesn’t know: The same things that Dawn doesn’t know, because she wasn’t involved in the original Team Galactic shenanigans and at the time of Cyrus’s trial was busy with figuring out her life a bit more, therapy (because while she does have the usual protagonist trauma resistance package, that was still A Lot, and she needs some help processing it sometimes), and also off visiting Ingo and Emmet in Unova. Gotta visit the train fam, you know?
Thus, Akari doesn’t realize what she’s walking into until she’s halfway through the Viridian Gym and a trainer in a goldenrod baseball cap pulls out a crobat (Crobat and Gyarados are the only members of Cyrus’s team that are really native to the Kanto region, and Crobat fits inside the gym better, so Crobat tends to get used for Gym battles), and when he looks up suddenly Akari’s getting flashbacks because, um, Cyllene? What the heck?! Did you get dragged to the future by mistake too-?!???!
Cyrus: I think you’re confusing me with someone else, I’m Cyrus.
Akari: Cyrus? ...wait, not Team Galactic Boss Cyrus?!?
Cyrus: ...technically no but legally yes.
Akari: ...
Cyrus: ...
Akari: ...okay, I’m just gonna win this battle and get my Earth badge real quick, but then we’re coming back to this!
Cyrus: Why?
Akari: Because Dawn is my twin, Lucas is her friend-rival, and Barry is her friend!
Cyrus: (doesn’t fully remember who those people are, but is pretty sure she’s talking about the kids who were talked about during his trial) ...fine.
Akari: (...he’s an evil team boss who tried to pull a Volo and he has almost no facial expressions, he shouldn’t be allowed to be making me feel like I just kicked an eevee for saying we were going to talk later-!)
Also, once Akari gets to Blue, she very much gets a “Hi, nice to meet you, saw you talking to Cyrus, I know Professor Rowan personally, I know Dawn, I recognize you, if you try and mess with one of my trainers I’ll pull out my actual team instead of the one I use for gym challengers and I will Demolish You, and then I will call down Red to hide your remains for me. :D”
Blue grew up in the Team Rocket era, Blue does not play softball when it comes to people trying to cause shit in his gym, town, or region. Akari’s lucky that he knows enough that he’s aware she’s one of the few people who probably has the right to ask the questions that he thinks she’s going to, but he’s sure as heck not going to let her be a bully about it-!
And then Akari’s actual questions are more along the line of, “What the heck are you doing here, I thought you were in Distortion World? Lukas was very upset about that, and that made Dawn upset, they were worried about you! Did you tell them you’re back? You should tell them you’re back so they can stop worrying.”
Blue: (texting Red to get his rear down here and bring popcorn, things are probably about to get entertaining as heck)

Thank you so very much for allowing me to basically self-insert (wow) as I really do enjoy how you write the characters' thoughts and feelings.
I just want to say that I had a very different experience while playing Pokemon Legends Arceus compared to everyone else. I went in knowing practically everything about the game. I never actually thought I would be able to get to fully play the game. I never thought I would get to own a copy of the game. And in some ways, I never actually wanted to play the game. (Game Freak, the story is not good there's no actual ending also why did you steal the man?) I just wanted to see Ingo (The people who I watched play the game did not understand how important he is) and I know somebody who already had a copy/beat the game. They didn't want me to use their copy, Instead, they bought me a brand new one.
Long story short. I had to experience the game (And those graphics) In person. Every time I play these games It takes me forever to do anything.  it was Filled with me cursing game freak, Reluctantly doing Quest because I still want to help people despite the fact they are going to kick me out, and looking Volo dead in the eyes and saying “you are a disgrace to your descendant” ((Do not worry I appropriately engaged with the proper characters such as Cyllene and Professor Laverton))
Of course! I’m happy you enjoy the way I write everyone ♪(´▽`) Tbh, I’m in a slightly similar boat. I originally was interested in PLA, thinking it was open world. Then I learned it was like Monster Hunter, with a hub and different areas, and all interest kinda dropped, ngl. I like Monster Hunter, but that style of gameplay never interested me tbh. I was still interested enough to watch some people play it, and it wasn’t too bad. I learned most of the story from streamers before I played it myself.  But then in the pokemon tag, I learned Ingo was in the game. And I loved Ingo lmao. I don’t remember much of my first playthrough of Black and White, but I remembered the twins. I remember spending hours playing the battle subway, and thought the twins were silly and really neat! I even had a small crush on them, but there was never really a lot of content with them online. So, when I learned Ingo was in the game, I had to have it. He’s my boy. Even if i’m upset that they refused to do anything with Ingo in the post game. (Let the man go home!!) I’m happy he’s here. And i do enjoy doing missions and little tasks, so i did end up enjoying the game more than i thought i would.

Medea Played Pokemon Legends Arceus
Tumblr media
Once again, I’m late to the party and I don’t care. Welcome to the usual type of shit-post I’m known for.
I gotta tell you, going into this game I wasn’t really that hyped for the game prior to release. The reboot of Diamond and Pearl kinda let me down a bit. It was okay, I just preferred the old games and Platinum a smidge better.
Tumblr media
Just look at that shit.
Mars isn’t threatening. She’s hangry and needs a Snickers bar.
It took me a day or two to fully get into the game and get used to what buttons to press. Because this game is not like your regular RPG, standard Pokemon game. There’s an art to catching pokemon in this game. But don’t let that throw you off. There were other games in the past that had unique ways of catching pokemon like in Let’s Go Pikachu & Eevee and the Pokemon Ranger games. But once you get used to it, you’ll be a pro.
Tumblr media
The story begins when you are Isekai’d from your normal world and into the land of Hisui (now known as Sinnoh). Yeah, I said Isekai’d! This game is a fucking Isekai. And you are Subaru from Re:Zero essentially!
Seek out all the pokemon. Arceus tells you that before tossing you into a strange new land. He leaves you with your toss-around clothes and an Arceus phone.
Tumblr media
You awake to Professor Laventon and these three pokemon. You get your crash course lesson in catching pokemon from him and you can eventually pick one of these. Don’t worry because in the post game, Laventon will give you the other two you didn’t pick.
Now remember, you are in a strange new land. You can’t just go back home to your mother’s home. You can’t just hang out in a Pokemon Center. The Pokemon Center doesn’t exist yet. The nice professor takes you to Jubilife Village. The villagers are wary of you. But thankfully, you are given a chance by the Galaxy Expedition Team. Cyllene will see to it you get what you need. Just do as she says or...
Tumblr media
Yeah, Cyllene will constantly warn you not to die and to come back alive. This game goes there!
Tumblr media
But above Cyllene is Kamado, the head of this operation. He and Cyllene will give you missions you must complete in order to proceed ahead in this game. Because you fell from the sky, he has a severe distrust of you. But because you fell from the big rift-crack in the sky, you might be able to quell pokemon that have gone insane.
Tumblr media
And that would be the frenzied pokemon.
There are five pokemon in all you must quell. These missions are rough. You are up against larger than life pokemon. These pokemon, you must throw special balms that Laventon puts together and when the timing is right, you may battle them. But beware, because in this pokemon game, Pokemon attack you. And if you take too many hits from a pokemon or a horde of pokemon or fall from a high spot, you black out.
And this isn’t this cute black out from previous Pokemon games where you just give the chump some chump change.
Tumblr media
Pretty much.
No, but really you do lose important items. But you might get those items back through the lost satchel search. Turn on your internet and fiddle with that.
Thankfully, you don’t lose items when you black out in front of the frenzied pokemon. Regular pokemon on the other hand...
Tumblr media
Paras is actually one of the worst. So are Croagunk. Basically any pokemon capable of poisoning or paralyzing you.
And then there’s Alpha Pokemon.
Tumblr media
Alpha pokemon are bigger than normal. They have red, glowing eyes. They can knock your ass off a riding pokemon. They are higher leveled. And if you roll around with a level 15 pokemon crew against these monsters...
Tumblr media
Yes, even in your first missions in the easiest part of Hisui, you can run into scary pokemon you won’t be ready to catch. A regular pokeball isn’t enough unless you’re super lucky. So leave ‘em alone until later.
Tumblr media
Aside from missions, there are also requests. These requests might go up in the challenge department as you go on in the game. There are easy requests like catch certain easy pokemon or complete a pokedex entry of a certain pokemon.
Show the clothing store lady certain pokemon, she’ll add more to her store.
Do errands for the goods and services guy, he’ll add more to his store.
Show certain pokemon to the photographer and he’ll give you more options when taking snapshots.
Tumblr media
And while you could purchase pokeballs from the store, it’s much easier to stock up on items and craft them yourself.
Yes, DIY crafting is in this game. But unlike Animal Crossing, these don’t defect on you. They’re just one-and-done.
Tumblr media
Back to the missions! Irida and Adaman are both leaders of their respective clans (Pearl and Diamond). Along with their wardens, they do assist with your missions. They’re supposed to be rivals, but it often didn’t feel like they were in this game. I felt more threat coming from Team Aqua and Team Magma in the Ruby and Sapphire games.
But yes, you must quell the frenzied pokemon. There are five in total.
Kleavor is super easy because there’s a giant tree right there you can hide behind. Lilligant, Avalugg, and Archanine are more of a challenge as they do unleash powerful attacks that can blow up the entire field. And then there’s the suicide bomber!
Tumblr media
Let the record show that I fucking hate Electrode in every form.
Speaking of which, many pokemon featured in the game might look different from what they look like in the present day. Sneasel is now a fighting/poison type. Scyther can evolve into a Kleavor. Ursarring and Stantler have evolved forms.
Best of all, you can evolve pokemon like Magmar, Electabuzz, and Graveler without the use of another person. Just buy a linking cord or whatever your choice of evolution is and let-a-rip!
Tumblr media
And HMs? Fuck HMs! Play your magic flute to call out a special pokemon to climb, surf, and fly throughout the Hisui region.
Tumblr media
Now let’s talk about these characters. If you look closely, yes, many of these people are indeed ancestors to characters we all know and love.
There are a lot of easy people to spot out like the ancestors to Cyrus, Mars, Professor Rowan, Marley, Cheryl, Flint, Darach, Volkner, Mira, Karen, Cynthia (x2), Charon, Gardenia, and even Wulfric from Kalos.
Tumblr media
And then we get to Candice, Bertha, and Saturn’s ancestors (Clover, Charm, and Coin). I think they’re just sisters of the bandit tribe and not by blood. Let’s keep it that way. I don’t think I can live with myself knowing Candice and Saturn might have blood relation.
There are some characters I’m unsure of who there descendants are. Iscan and Palina are two definite question marks. But some theories indicate that Nessa from Galar descended from those two. Irida and Adaman are also questionable. But some theories say that it’s really May and Professor Sycamore. Good theory, but I have a better one for Adaman.
Tumblr media
I say Adaman is related to Mikey from Tokyo Revengers. That’s my theory and I’m sticking to it.
I gotta say, I really enjoyed the Diamond Clan and their wardens. Mostly for the fact that they have Mai and Arezu. But I can’t count out Irida and Palina. I loved them too. But then there’s one character from the Diamond Clan I despised.
Tumblr media
This cunt-burger.
I’ve heard he was either an ancestor to Lucian, Jupiter, and even Harley from the AG anime. I will slap the crap out of anyone who puts Harley near this guy. And as much as I love Lucian...yeah, good chance.
Tumblr media
Lucian is a sexy boy-toy. Melli is a cunt-burger.
Tumblr media
And the biggest shock of them all.
Ingo fell from the skies too. But here’s the thing about him. He’s not hated or distrusted upon like you. Ingo has amnesia so he doesn’t recall the battle train in Unova nor his brother in rails, Emmet. But he does give out train puns. Whether this is a sign that Black and White remakes are in the foreseeable future or not, I’m just happy folks from Gen 5 get a nod.
Now after you quelled all five frenzied pokemon lords, made buddies with all of the helper pokemon, and visited nearly all of Hisui, what comes next?
Tumblr media
You get thrown out of the village.
That’s right, banishment. Kamado never trusted you. And with every mission, his disgust of you grows and grows until after the final poke-lord is quelled and he banishes you from Jubilife until you figure out why the pokemon are becoming frenzied, why the sky is blood red, and why are you there.
In your banishment, you can only confide in Volo (the mysterious merchant and looks like Cynthia) and Cogita (someone who also looks like Cynthia). Your credentials in the save window are gone too. Cyllene also looks after you secretly. Unlike Cyrus, Cyllene is pretty cool.
Tumblr media
The final task comes with having to go to all three lakes in Hisui, meet Azelf, Uxie, and Mespirit, meet their challenges, catch the alpha pokemon that reside in the cave, and create a red chain that’ll manage that out of control break in the sky. And once you save the day by taking down Dialga and Palkia, Kamado will shut the fuck up about you being a stranger that can’t be trusted. Because you took down the beasts of time and space, not him. You closed up the hole in the sky, not him.
Oh.
Yeah, you’re kinda trapped there forever now. And whatever gender you are, you’re going to shack-up with either Rei or Akari and procreate until you end up with either Lucas or Dawn.
Tumblr media
This whole thing is just the Futurama episode Roswell That Ends Well. The whole Rei and Akari and Lucas and Dawn situation is a mind-fuck.
Post-game!
Volo has you find all the random plates that you get throughout the game. And after the game’s finish, he has you get plates from the three psychic mons, Heatran, and a psychic croissant. Volo would like a word with you at the highest peak of the mountain.
Tumblr media
Only for Volo to be a bastard.
Look, I can handle Kamado and Beni being double-crossing assholes. You...Okay, I should have expected that. The nice people in present times are bastards in before times and vice-versa. Train up children because this is a high-level six-on-six match. But that’s not all.
Tumblr media
Fuck-wipe here got Giratina to pop up after this fucker gets his butt kicked.
But that’s still not all.
Tumblr media
Even when you kill this shithead, he comes back stronger.
Finally, kick Volo to the curb and go back to seeking out all pokemon so you can one day conjure up the big deity himself, Arceus.
There’s plenty for you to do once you get Palkia and Dialga. Including a special download mission involving pokemon outbreaks. Who wants to get in the middle of a horde of alpha pokemon?
Tumblr media
I thought I hated being surrounded by Bewear in Sword/Shield. I officially apologize for whatever I said in that situation. This is madness.
Tumblr media
Well folks, it’s been a fun experience playing with Pokemon Legends Arceus. And I do recommend this game to anyone who ever was or still is a fan of the Pokemon games. The mechanics are different from what you might be used to and it can get a little stress inducing in many situations. The scent of death is in the air. But it’s a lot of fun. And it is honestly a better buy than Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl. Again, not knocking it. It’s an okay game. It’s just, yeah. Legends Arceus is the way to go.
Plus look at how much I can make a Tracey character. See? Look at that! Ain’t he cute?

Hi I'm here with a request of some angst but with happy ending bc I like my gays happy and healthy lmao, how about Zhora sees their ship explode for some reason and thinking MC was still inside? I want a "I- I thought I lost you forever" moment bc I'm that bitch lol
With a sound that was nothing in the emptiness of space, their ship blewup.
Zhora could do nothing but stare helplessl, pressing against the window oftheir cell on Zenith’s ship, slamming her hands onto the glass untilWyst pressed against her back and pulled her away from it.
MC had still been on that ship.
Zhora screamed while all noise faded to white for her, after Cyllene, nowMC too had been taken from her.
She’d never see her smile again. Never hear her endless ramblings abouttech, her brilliant ideas, her laugh.
Never again.
She slumped against the floor of the cell, tears flowing out of her eyesas she sobbed. Her eyes met the cruel violet of Zenith’s, who laughedas she walked away, and laughed, and laughed, and-
A hand shook her awake, impossibly gentle, wiped the tears from hereyes, soft lips kissed her own… and Zhora woke up from hernightmare, still sobbing, to the impossibly gentle eyes of her loveas she looked down on her.
But she couldn’t bear seeing her like this, being seen like this, so shejust pulled MC down into her arms, holding her close as she continuedto cry into her shoulder. The old shame and defense mechanismsthreatened to come back up, telling her to push the tears away, telling her not to feel anything and keeping it down, forgetting it.
But MC’s arms told her something different. Told her it was safe. She wassafe. It was okay to let herself cry.
“What did you dream about?”
MC asked, gently rubbing her back.
“About losing you.”
Zhora replied, clutching tighter for a moment.
“Zenith blew up our ship and you- I- I though I lost you forever.”
“You won’t lose me.”
MC whispered, pulling away for a moment, looking deep into Zhora’s eyesand kissing her cheekbones, her forehead, every part she could reach.
“Zenith may be scary, but she’s not going to kill us.”
“And you’re so sure because….?”
“Anything we faced, we faced together. Mortem Solis? Dead. Typho? Our friend.Everyone else? You get the picture. I’m saying there’s no one we canbe beat by as long as we’re together.”
Zhora felt a smile tug at her cheeks as she leaned up and kissed MC fully, deeply, sighing when she pulled back.
“You’re right, cutie.”
She chuckled, and MC lied both of them down again, wrapping her armsaround Zhora.
“You wanna be the big spoon, eh?”
“Well, I thought-”
“Don’t think now.”
Zhora whispered, reaching back and gently stroking over MC’s side.
“Just sleep.”
“And if you have a nightmare again, I’ll be there.”
“I know you will.”

All Your Green Beauty Swaps – For 20% Off!
New Post has been published on http://healingawerness.com/news/all-your-green-beauty-swaps-for-20-off/
All Your Green Beauty Swaps – For 20% Off!
You might remember this epic sale from last year but each year Credo Beauty has a 20% off sale in November. Cue the confetti! I want to make sure you understand how big of a deal this sale is… Credo Beauty does.not.have sales. Ever. Except for this one, once a year. Now is the time to stock up and splurge! My cart is already full.
Never heard of Credo Beauty? They’re a 100% natural clean beauty store. Think of them as the clean Sephora…but better! They have a couple brick and mortar shops across the US (we’re lucky enough to have one in SF!) but they’re also available nationwide for shipping. While I love going into the store, I oftentimes just buy online because the selection is incredible! And especially when the once a year sale occurs and I can save 20%.
If you aren’t fully immersed in the green beauty world, it can be overwhelming. There’s so many products and it can be hard to figure out which ones are quality and which ones to skip. Plus the thought of overhauling your whole makeup and skincare routine can be enough to make anyone run to the drugstore to buy their usual. So I thought it would be fun to do a little list of swaps: “If you already love X, why don’t you try Y as a green beauty upgrade.” That way you can start making these swaps one at a time or if you want to save 20% you can make them all today! Just don’t forget to use CLEAN20 to save 20% off at checkout! Let’s jump in.
GREEN BEAUTY MAKEUP SWAPS
Foundation
Lightweight coverage – If you don’t need a lot of coverage or on days where you just want a lighter makeup look, Vapour foundation is your girl.
Medium coverage – If you’re looking for medium coverage, grab the Juice Beauty Flawless Pressed Powder.
Full coverage – The day I found Gressa foundation was the day my life was forever changed. Kidding, kind of. But seriously, this foundation is the real deal. It’s full coverage but still very natural looking so you can wear every day or for special occasions.
Bronzer
Cream – The Rituel de Fille Ethereal Veil in Cyllene is my go-to bronzer. I feel like some people are scared of cream bronzers but I love using them! They blend so well and look super natural on the skin.
Blush
Cream – The cream blush from Juice Beauty is my go-to blush. It’s super pigmented and blends so naturally on the face! I love the shade “flush” for a super natural look.
Highlighter
RMS Living Luminizer – I think I first heard about this when J. Crew models were all the rage and I found out they were all glowing thanks to this highlighter. Into my cart you go little luminizer! It really does look so natural and glowy on the skin… great for looking alive throughout winter. 😉
Vapour Halo Illuminator – The description of this product is literally “beam with angelic radiance.” Enough said.
Eyebrows
Juice Beauty Brow Envy Gel – If you want to do you brows in 10 seconds flat, the Juice Beauty eyebrow gel. It comes in three different shades and is super easy to apply. I like to use this gel on my more “natural” face days.
Ecobrow Brow Defining Wax – When you have a minute to focus on your brows, take time to use Ecobrow. It will give you a more filled in, “done up” look.
Mascara
Lily Lolo – Lily Lolo will forever have my heart. I think the biggest compliment you can give a natural mascara is that it performs like a high end mascara. The wand on this mascara is like a traditional mascara want and hasn’t steered me wrong yet!
W3ll People – Another really well performing mascara in the green beauty world! This wand is more rounded and the brush is made out of plastic/rubber.
Eyeliner
Pencil – The Ere Perez Jojoba Pencil is what you should try if you apply your eyeliner with a pencil! It comes in 8 different color choices and the formula is spot on: creamy but long lasting.
Liquid – If you prefer a liquid eyeliner, try the Juice Beauty Liquid Eyeliner. The applicator is super thin and easy to use and again, this baby is long lasting!
Lipstick
I only have one lipstick recommendation for you because I truly believe it’s all you’ll need in your makeup bag: ILIA Lipstick. I’m obsessed with the colors “Perfect Day” and “Madame Mina”.
GREEN BEAUTY SKINCARE SWAPS
Of course, everyone’s skin is different and what it needs will require a different regimen than somebody else. These are just suggestions for people of different skin types but be sure to speak with a holistic aesthetician or dermatologist before making changes to your skincare routine.
NEW TO GREEN BEAUTY
Marie Veronique: Free of harmful chemicals but still uses synthetics that can really help with the transition from conventional to natural.
Marie Veronique Oil Cleanser – If you’re new to oil cleansing, this is the best one to start with! I truly believe it is the best oil cleanser on the market.
Marie Veronique Intensive Repair Serum – Hands-down this serum has changed my skin and I would 100% credit it with helping me get through some tough acne over the last couple of years.
Mother Dirt: MD is stripped down clean skincare at its finest! None of the frills but nothing that’s going to harm your skin either. Also the price point is probably the best available.
Mother Dirt Cleanser – I use this daily to wash off the day and also cleanse my body with it. It is biome-friendly so it helps to balance the skin rather than strip it of all the healthy bacteria it needs.
AO+ Biome Mist – if you’re looking for a more long-term solution to skincare, this mist is your answer. It helps to encourage a balanced skin biome so you’re targeting skin issues at the source rather than treating the symptoms.
LUXURY GREEN BEAUTY
If you’ve dabbled a bit in the green beauty world, here are some products/brands I love that are better if you’ve already made the transition to natural.
Herbivore Botanicals – When it comes to oils, HB is the best of the best. I moisturize with an oil at night and will never go back to conventional moisturizers ever again. Their Jasmine Toner is life-changing. Truly.
Jasmine Green Tea Balancing Toner – I already said it but this toner is life changing. It hydrates, promotes balance and is just an overall magic-worker.
Lapis Facial Oil – This oil is made from blue tansy which helps sooth irritated skin and promotes balance.
Tata Harper –  it doesn’t get more luxury than this! Tata Harper products are expensive but not only are they indulgent, they actually work.
Clarifying Spot Solution – This spot treatment is amazing! Definitely my go-to every time a blemish pops up!
Purifying Mask – This mask has probiotics to help rebalance your skin and clay to help pull out buildup. It seriously is the best of both worlds!
SKINCARE MUST-HAVES
Josh Rosebrook Nutrient Day Cream –if I could write a love note to this product, I would. I have been using this for years as my morning moisturizer and sunscreen (it’s 15 SPF) and it’s incredible. It has a cult following and it definitely deserves it!
Herbivore Blue Tansy Mask – I consider this one of my luxury masks and I absolute adore putting this on, sipping some tea and reading a book. It leaves my skin glowing and visibly less red!
Patyka Mask – I find my skin can use a light exfoliant once or twice a week and this Patyka Mask does the trick! It has tiny little scrubbing beads that help to remove dead skin cells leaving your skin looking fresh.
Herbivore Jasmine Body Oil – If the fact that I’m on my third bottle of this in 6 months isn’t any indication, I adore this body oil! If you love the smell of jasmine, you need this in your life. Also it makes my skin literally glow!
GREEN BEAUTY HAIRCARE SWAPS
Kahina Argan Oil – A lot of people use argan oil on their skin, but it’s also fantastic for your hair! I use this in between washes to keep my curls looking silky and less frizzy
EVOLVH Wonderbalm – You’ve heard me rave about this product and for good reason! It’s an all-natural gel that controls frizz without leaving your hair feeling crunchy. See how I use it here!
EVOLVH Leave-In Conditioner – Another one of my go-to hair products. I use it in this video to style my curly hair and have found that it leaves my hair smooth and healthy in between haircuts!
* * * * *
Honestly, this post could go on for days. I have so many more masks and random other products I could add but I *tried* to keep it simple. If you’re interested in going deeper into Green Beauty, LMK and I’ll work on a few more posts for ya! Credo is also a great source for products like natural toothpaste, deodorant (working on deodorant review so stay tuned!) and even booty masks (not kidding!).
My biggest piece of advice? Be patient. Don’t feel like you need to swap out all of your products at once. This stuff takes time so do it in baby steps and please, try to enjoy it! When you view it as an experiment rather than a burden, you may even become a green beauty addict…not that I have any experience in that 😉
Don’t forget to use the code CLEAN20 at Credo Beauty to save 20% off all products, all weekend long!
What are some of your favorite green beauty swaps? LMK below!

Two out of three paths fully done and yeah I liked them but still not getting the vibe that I am going to fixate on anything yet.
I like Arven and his doggo and I want to cosplay Penny (although I probably won’t get around to it) but nothing has quite grabbed me by the brainstem yet so…
Hopefully when I beat the gyms (I guess the elite four after?) and go into the crater I will find a thing to fixate on?
Or maybe not, I’m still fixated on Cyllene (and Moira is creeping back up in fixation too) and a third thing might be too much

I love ur writing so much 🤧🤧 Could u maybe write something about MC/reader where after they get rejected by Mai and Lian when the sky turns red they feel so betrayed that none of the wardens would help them after all they’ve done and kinda decides to go rogue and join the miss fortune sisters and cause chaos and all the wardens try to snap them out of it and apologize and ugh happy ending plz?🥺 I love all of them but that part of the game hit me like a freight train
I understand why they turn you away, if they help you war would break out cause Kamado is a BITCH- but hey! They help you in secret cause ya know. (It’s mainly sadness turned into anger on my part.)
If you can’t tell I hate that man, I will absolutely take Volo’s spot just to punch his lights out.
Asks are open!
-
-
You didn’t do anything wrong.
You didn’t do anything you weren’t told to.
You did everything they asked of you.
And yet when the sky turned a sinister combination of purple, red, and green you were the commanders first target.
Adaman yelled that you were innocent, they have been with you every step of the way!
Irida pleaded for Kamado to not be so blind, you had clans and a village filled with witnesses!
Rei and Laventon almost left with you. You are their friend and family first! They will not stay here while you are left in the wilderness.
But you told them not to, you don’t want them to suffer the same fate.
Cyllene kept her words short but there was a faint crack in her voice. She didn’t want to do this, she knows you didn’t do anything, but if she can’t help you if she leaves with you.
And with that you were out, Rei crying and Laventon pleading for your safety was the last sounds you heard of the village.
You asked Lian, he was like a little brother to you, and he can usually think quick.
“I’m sorry…I can’t help you, if I do this might get ugly, well uglier.” He looks so defeated, but not nearly as you.
“It’s fine Lian, thank you though.” To turn to walk away.
“Hey! Just, be safe, will ya?”
“I’ll try my best.”
He didn’t like that answer.
Next was Mai, she is Wyrdeer’s warden, so maybe she has something.
“I’m sorry, I heard the news but there is nothing I can do, Kamado made it clear what will happen if any of us help you.” Mai feels a pain in her heart watching your face fall into a heart broken expression.
“It’s alright.”
She watched you leave, she needs to think of something and fast.
You didn’t know what else to do, you didn’t have anywhere to go. Not with the clans refusing you.
You have no shelter, but at least you know how to craft things and what is edible around here.
But it hurts.
You did everything you could.
You only did what you were asked and told to do.
You thought they were you family.
You thought Jubilife was your new home.
But it’s clear you meant nothing to them.
“Well little hero, seems they’ve abandoned you too.”
You jump, quickly turning to see who it was.
It’s just Charm, Coin, and Clover.
“I’m sorry, I don’t have it in me to battle.” You fully expected them to just attack you.
But they didn’t.
Charm walks closer to you.
“If you’d like you can come with us, with your strength and experience you’d be a great asset, and maybe you can teach us a thing or two.”
You stare at the bandit completely shocked.
“Yeah! Maybe I can learn and kick your ass!” Clover cheers. She sounds like a more aggressive Rei.
“It’s not like they care anyways, in a way you’re like us.” Coin looks unbothered but you feel something different.
You don’t have anywhere else to go.
You have no one else to help you.
You agreed.
You don’t know what happened to your Pokémon in the village pastures. You only have you main six on your hip.
You spent days maybe weeks with the bandits.
You taught them how to make potions.
You learned Charm was in the survey corps like you, hence why she makes the potions but she never learned how to make all these variations and full restores! She’s amazed at all you can do.
Surprisingly you bonded extremely well with them.
And you were right too! Clover really is just a more aggressive Rei, she loved rough housing and was a very energetic and loud person. She’s a joy to be around.
Coin is more distance but she slowly came around to you. You quickly bonded over treasures and rare items.
It was a bit dysfunctional but they felt like family.
You can see why they stay together, misfits in their own way having found a home with each other.
It also doesn’t help that, with your power, more chaos was easy to do.
Your Pokémon were took down most peoples Pokémon Ina few hits, giving you time to help out anyone else who was struggling to battle.
Clover learned a lot from you as you happily taught her about move typing, match ups, and super effective attacks.
Your words of encouragement gave her a confidence boost.
A boost that lead to now.
They really sent their wardens after you, huh.
“Dear please.” Ingo pleads with you as your Pokémon downs his Tangrowth.
“Ingo, dearest friend, I’m sorry.” You continue to fight while Clover takes care of Mai.
“We finally find you, and you’re with them!?” You hear Azeru cry.
You’re proud Coin is holding her own so well.
“You abandoned them! And you think we are heartless!? Look in the mirror for once!” Clover yells once her Abomasnow faints munchlax.
“We had no choice!”
“Clearly you’ve shown what you value you more.” Charm finally speaks as her Gengar takes down Lian’s Goodra.
Lian doesn’t say anything, he just looks towards you with pleading eyes.
They know why you are here.
They know why you’re with the bandits.
But in such a tight spot, they knew it was a grey area.
It was not a simple black and white situation.
They knew this.
But they have been worried for you after you went missing.
The hole in the sky gets bigger with each passing day.
Pokémon larger than they have seen can be seen behind it.
And Kamado keeps testing those creature’s patience.
They were looking for you regardless.
They wanted you home.
Even if it was to spend their final days together once those Pokémon show themselves.
Charm however seems to know this.
The desperation in all these warden’s battles.
They aren’t battling like they normally would, they aren’t battling with clear heads.
They are battling like cornered Pokémon.
Raw power won’t get them a win every time.
But she sees how much the young warden before her wants to run to you.
“Girls.”
Coin and Clover stop and look to her.
“Yes?” The other two bandits say in sync.
“Call back your pokemon.”
“What!?”
Charm walks passed her confused friends and to you.
You had almost beaten Ingo too.
“Y/n.”
You look at her confused.
“You will always have a home here, but that won’t happen if the whole ends.”
You’ve never heard her speak so softly and tenderly.
“You know where to find us, now I want you to go up to that temple, beat that ponyta shit commander and save this region, okay?”
“But what about-“
“We will be fine, you have taught us well, we can take care of ourselves.”
You think for a moment, looking between her,
Coin and Clover, and the wardens before you give a firm nod “I’ll give him a good punch in your honor!”
Charm smiles “that’s my dear.”
Clover tries to argue but her and Coin and quickly taken away by the older bandit.
You sigh before looking back at your friends “I’ll help, but I refuse to stay in that village.”
The look of relief spreads over all their faces before you are tackled by a happy adopted little brother.
“Oh Lian, I’m so sorry.”
You crouch down and hug the young warden, who is holding onto you like you’re disappear again.
He is silently crying, you can feel your shirt soaking up his tears.
“Thank you little cowboy, I love you.”
He just buries his head into your shoulder so hide his face.
“Alright, next stop temple of Sinnoh!”
The other three smile while Ingo does his pose.
“All aboard!”
They are just happy to have you back.

Random headcanon and world building notes for chapter 2: https://archiveofourown.org/works/39056136/chapters/97801569#workskin
For the purposes of humor in this fic, Beni is only good at making potato mochi. He burns everything else, including things can’t usually be burned.
When Cyllene told Professor Laventon to sit outside at the Wallflower, she was fully planning to eavesdrop. Sadly for her, she doesn’t get too much new information that way.
Abra is baby and we love baby.
Even though food is tight in the village, Cyllene’s stress eating is not stopped for a few reasons. 1.) she routinely misses meals and no one is willing to tell her no when she does eat for fear of her falling over or starving. 2.) Beni needs customers and besides the Professor, she’s his best customer. 3.) they chalk it up to her way of stress relief. 4.) they are honestly impressed that she can eat that much and it’s like watching a train wreck sometimes.
Cyllene has a lot of trouble recruiting and keeping numbers for the Survey Corps for several reasons. 1.) most people are terrified of Pokémon 2.) the ones that aren’t afraid aren’t always good at catching them 3.) literacy (or lack thereof) is also a problem, which makes finding people who can write notes difficult 4.) it’s a dangerous job overall
With all of those factors in mind, she keeps the entry test to the Survey Corps pretty easy generally speaking.
Cyllene’s plan to accommodate Beni’s demands for witnesses will be discussed in the next chapter.
As much as other writers want to make the idea of people being banished from Jubilife being a common thing, I kind of feel like it’s a last resort/nuclear option in general. Most people want to stay in groups and just knowing there’s a threat of being forced out is usually enough to keep people in line.
However, Charm (of the Miss Fortunes) was definitely banished (for what, I’m not sure but I suspect it was something that was pretty bad. )
Yes, I know that they’re speaking/writing in Pokémon universe Japanese but I don’t know how to make that work in an English language fic and the idea of Cyllene buying time to formulate a response we AND piss off Beni by picking at Beni’s spelling mistakes was too funny to let go.
Overall notes for Cyllene and Beni’s work relationship (for this chapter anyway):
Beni and Cyllene don’t hate each other but they aren’t close either.
Part of this is the classic Ninja vs Ronin/Samurai trope, I feel. Beni is trained to kill people first and foremost, while Cyllene seems to always choose the nonviolent answer if it’s available, which probably chafes and annoys Beni to no end. Ronin/Samurai aren’t always good people, and he misjudges her non-violence for perceived moral superiority sometimes.
Cyllene on the other hand is tired of Beni bemoaning that his ninja ways will soon be resigned to history. They’re here to start a new peaceful life! What use is an assassin in times of peace? He should be happy that it’s going to be forgotten!
Beni is definitely a “stab first and ask questions later (if at all)” person, while Cyllene is a “I have a list of 100 questions which you will answer and then I’ll stab you if I don’t like the responses” person.
They also suffer from “I know you well enough to push your buttons but oh shit you also know me well enough to push my buttons”. All of the captains do, but Beni and Cyllene are paradoxically both too similar and too different at the same time. And so the button pushing is often perceived as slights or even attacks instead of just teasing.
Kamado tries to be impartial with them when they get into a rare full blown spat, but sadly he shares a lot of the same trauma as Beni so he ends up taking Beni’s side more often than not.
(Cyllene is not alone in her corner, though. Professor Laventon and Zisu often back her up, but sadly they just don’t hold the power that Kamado does.)
