mood for the day: fine-tuning a spreadsheet instead of throwing a tantrum
#after much deliberation I signed up last-minute to judge the writing contest I’ve judged the last couple of years#(even roped Kenz into it)#I specified I preferred audiobooks because I figured that would be a good compromise#I got short stories#almost 20 of them#I do not like short stories in general because they take work to master#there’s a special art to writing a compelling and well-developed short story#and last year did not impress me 😅#but in addition to the volume I discovered that one entry is an actual novel and another is as long as a Murderbot novella#so I sent an email to clarify because aint no way#it's not a true tantrum. at best I'm a smidge salty but also I signed up for this so oh well
