Where the sky meets
Tumblr media
Woo! Collab with @inkymkk our second piece! (Technically our first but this was posted second to the other)
I really had fun with this and designing Gary’s outfit was cool as hell. Ink also did incredible well and I’m so glad this came out just amazing. We both based out designs off of fly type pokemons. If you can guess which two Pokémon is it I’ll reward you a telepathic thumbs up from me!
Anyways, I love you all. Please take care of yourselves and remember to try your best everyday!

Pokemon Horizons Episode 54 Review - Exceedingly Suspicious
To be honest, when it comes to Horizons episodes, I really like episodes like this where it builds upcoming plot points for the story. Not only can I see Spinel, but I just love learning more about Horizons’ story. Man, having a story-driven Pokemon anime really does wonders for me. It gets me as invested as the characters. There are three sides to this episode: the kids, Friede and the Explorers and all tie in very well.
Tumblr media
For the kids, it’s more focused on Ann as she reunites with them. She learns about Terapagos and even aspires to challenge the Pokemon League. I honestly love the friendship she has with Liko; she even befriends Roy and Dot too! They both encourage each other in a way. Liko’s stories about traveling aspired her to go to Paldea. Ann was the one who told Liko that the decision to make a big step forward was her Pokemon. This encourages Liko to believe that Terapagos was the one taking them to Rakua and not the other way around. Their friendship is so wholesome. I don’t get why people have this ridiculous theory that she’s a spy for the Explorers or is going to betray Liko. I think the cutest thing about the kids is that they all have their Pokemon outside of their balls. Yes, even large sized Kilowattrel is out and about too. All four of them have two Pokemon each, so it’s probably easier on the animators to give them distinct personalities and more hilarious interactions like Ann’s poor Dewott running away from Tinkatink because she wanted to smash its scalchops.
Tumblr media
For Friede’s side of the story in this episode, I think it’s the highlight as he’s digging into more information about Terapagos from asking Liko and Roy about the pink haze that appears whenever a Hero Pokemon shows its memories to Friede going back to the company he used to work for. Remember back in Episode 18 where it was stated that he quit his job and was just idling on about before forming the Rising Volt Tacklers with Orla and Ludlow? Well, we finally get to see what company he worked for before quitting. I really like that there is more Friede backstory included in this episode! Friede used to work for a company called Exceed and it harbors a mysterious crystal called the Eternal Blessing—also known as the Rakurium.
Tumblr media
Maybe it’s me, but there’s something a bit suspicious about that company. Friede’s former boss Crave says that he’s ordered to hold onto it and it’s an order he cannot disobey. From who, I wonder? There’s also the fact that Spinel snuck in with ease and even eavesdropped in on Friede and his junior researcher Yanga’s conversation. When Friede went to the basement floor to find the Rakurium, he was attacked by three security Pokemon despite having ID and permission from Crave. That’s really suspicious, isn't it? Also, the fact that Spinel took the item and that Zirc and Onia were spying on him shows that he has some motive that doesn’t follow the Explorers.
Tumblr media
And speaking of the Explorers, a huge reveal has happened. Gibeon is finally shown and he’s revealed to be Amethio’s grandfather! I wonder if he’s his actual grandfather, like one of his parents’ father or a grandfather from way back who happened to live a long time. Since he knows who Lucius is and Lucius has descendants of his own, one of them being a grandmother, I’m assuming that he’s his great-great-great-great grandfather; I’m sure Amethio says grandfather because he’s technically his grandpa and people normally don’t really say “great-grandpa” or such, right? Correct me if I'm wrong. Amethio also mentions having a father and it’s implied that his father took a path different from Amethio and Gibeon that made him scorn him when mentioned. Given the suspicious nature of Exceed and how Crave got his hands on the Rakurium, I theorize that Crave could be Amethio’s father and Gibeon’s son-in-law. There should be a reason why half of Amethio’s hair is black, right?
Tumblr media
According to Orla in this episode, the Brave Olivine is halfway complete! She’s focusing on upgrading it, so who knows how long that’ll take. Given that each chapter seems to take about 24-25 episodes, I’m safe to assume that the third chapter will end somewhere in Episode 70 or so. I honestly can’t wait to see what the rest of the arc has in store because I’m really enjoying this arc! I also really like how calm this episode is in a way. What are your thoughts on the big reveals and plot progression?

MHA Pokémon Trainers: Katsuki (mostly)
So, this Would Not leave me alone, so! Some general thoughts on Pokémon I think Katsuki could have! (I’m assuming this is TransFem Katsuki, so, working with that!)
Mankey > Primeape > Anniliape - This one, I actually see as her starter/first partner. Like, she WANTS one of the kick ass, fancy starters other people get, but she ends up with a Mankey. I can see it’s honestly what her parents get for her OR before she’s officially old enough to have her own Pokémon, she befriends a wild Mankey … by beating each other up. Keep in mind, in Pokémon world, humans are more durable than we are (due to genetics, cartoon physics, also shit like Aura, and psychic powers), so little Katsuki fighting a Pokémon to a standstill is not ACTUALLY out of the realm of possibility. They end up fighting a lot, and eventually develop mutual respect and friendship. There’s probably some middle bits, but basically, Katsuki comes home one day with a Mankey - “Hey, Mom, Dad, this is Nukey, short Nuclear Disaster, he knows Fire Punch and Overheat, and he’s staying with me.” (Yes, those are moves they can eventually learn)
Typhlosion - Katsuki’s starter, is she doesn’t have Mankey. Or maybe she has both? Mankey she just brings home one day, Cyndaquil she gets from the Professor when she’s old enough (Sidenote: Who’s the Professor? My immediate thoughts are Nezu, but I actually see him as a Mew masquerading as a Human … which, never mind, maybe it is Nezu. Or maybe the Shields.)
Voltorn/Electrode - This just feels too obvious, almost. Though, you could make it interesting, by having them maybe be the Hisuian versions?
Magikarp/Feebas - I can definitely see Katsuki eventually getting one or both of these. The Magikarp/Garaydos I feel is obvious, but the Feebas/Milotic I feel could work too, especially because Milotic is a fairly “Feminine” Pokémon, but still kicks all kinds of ass. Not sure, though. Especially because, compared to Magikarp, Feebas are extremely hard to find, train, and evolve, so by comparison, it would be easier to get a Magikarp.
Eevee - I want to give her a Flareon, but then, I feel like Eevee probably isn’t really Katsuki’s style? Plus, I see it as too Shoto (Kanto Vulpix, Alolan Vulpix, Glaceon, Flareon, that sort of thing)
Togepi - I am deeply, DEEPLY tempted, to have Katsuki hatch a Togepi, and raise it all the way to Togekiss. Don’t know how that would work out, but I have the image, and by god, it is glorious.
“Transport” - so, I have a thing about “Transport Pokémon”. I feel all trainers should, if they travel a lot, have a Pokémon they can ride in an emergency. So far, the ones I’ve found that fit Katsuki (also Pokémon he could have in General, but I don’t want to put them twice): Rapidash, Charizard, Arcanine, Tauros (any work, but Fire Form works best), Basculegion, Braviary (either form).
Pokémon Katsuki Could Have (General): Magmar, Machamp, Weezing, Wobbuffet (borrowed from Kirishima, for training), Forretress, Snubbull/Granbull, Houndour/Houndoom, Blaziken (Speed Boost, possible replacing Typhlosion), Numel/Camerupt, Zangoose, Crawdaunt, Salamence, Infernape, Staraptor, Garchomp, Riolu/Lucario, Croagunk/Toxicroak (traded from Tsuyu), Gliscor, Heatran, Victini (kind of? I can definitely see her with one, but I can’t see her using it much, cause she doesn’t want people to say she won just because she had Victini…), Simisear, Basculin, Darmanitan, Scrafty, Frillish/Jellicent (don’t know why, but I can see it), Volcarona, Talonflame, Aromatisse, Clawitzer, Toucannon, Salandit/Salazzle, Turtonator, Kommo-o, Blacephalon, Armarouge, Mabosstiff.
Other assorted thoughts:
Tetsutetsu - Purrserker
Monoma - Smeargle, Meowscarada,
Uraraka - Clefariy, Deoxys
Iida - Boltund, Rapidash, Arcanine
Jirou - Jigglypuff, Toxtricity (Low form), Skeledirge, Rillaboom, Meloetta, Gardevoir, Whismur
Kaminari - Pikachu, Pawmi/Pawmo/Pawmot, Toxtricity (Amped form), Kilowattrel, Morpeko, Emolga, Pachirisu, Plusle, Minun, Magnemite
Momo - Tinkatink/Tinkatuff/Tinkaton, Gallade, Indeedee (F&M), Sinistea/Polteageist
What do you think? Any you could see DEFINITELY not work?
-
I love all of this but wow ya girl has so many options!
I think I’ll give Katsuki the Cyndaquil as a starter, but she def gets a Mankey that keeps trying to pick a fight with her and she’s like ‘hey let’s keep this up actually’.
I like the idea of the Magikarp/Feebas thing, but that would probably be a later thing because early/pre-character development Katsuki wouldn’t have the patience for them even if she knows they’ll eventually be the powerhouse Gyarados/Milotic. Maybe we could force it early by combining it with what was suggested with the Togepi thing? Like she gets an egg and it hatches a Feebas and that both makes her more determined to see this through but helps in teaching the patience.
You’re right on Flareon feeling too Todoroki. Like the other Eeveelutions are up for grabs for everyone else, but Flareon and Glacion are being yeeted at the Todorokis
I think an Arcanine works best on transport I like the vibes.
I gotta keep the Riolu/Lucario because of the Mystery Dungeon tho.

What if the Paldea gym leaders level scaled?
I absolutely love the open world of Pokemon SV, but I don't like how the fixed levels of all the gym leaders, team star bosses, and titans means there still is an intended order like in the old linear games. So what if the gym leaders could be fought in any order and their teams would adjust to match the order you choose to challenge them in? I think the fairest way to do it is the leader's teams will be based on how many badges you have. So of you challenge Katy first her team will be relatively easy, but of you challenge her last, her team will be way better. I'm going to see if I can figure out what would be a good and challenging team composition for each gym leader no matter when you opt to challenge them.
In most games, the number of team members a gym leader has gradually increases as you move through them. I'll have the number of team members each leader has increase with the number of badges the player has. I'll have the 1st and 2nd leaders with 3 members, 3rd, 4th, and 5th with 4, and 6th-8th with 5 members. I will only use Pokemon available in base SV for this. Assume gym leader Pokemon will evolve at the appropriate levels
Katy is not the best showing of a bug specialist due to her choice of team and the general flaws of low-level bugs. I'm going to give her an upgrade. For her 1st leader team, I'm going to start by taking a page from Viola's book and give her a Surskit to keep the player from sweeping with a fire type and intimidate Masquerain is pretty good. Then, I'll give her Pineco to set up hazards on higher level teams and counter the bug-type's frailty. For her tera mon I guess Teddiursa works for the connection between bears and bugs. Plus on higher-level teams, Guts Ursaring with a flame orb hits hard and the line can learn fury cutter and gets decent coverage options. for her 3rd, 4th, and 5th leader teams I'll add Lokix to showcase a powerful Paldea bug. Finally, for her 6th-8th leader teams, she will get the generally excellent Heracross for a final team of intimidate Masquerain, Forretress, Lokix, Heracross, and guts Ursaring with a flame orb. For post-game rematches she can get Volcarona added to her roster.
Brassius's 1st leader team will have Capsakid to help counter bugs with fire moves and Deerling to use STAB normal moves to hit most types for neutral damage, plus jump kick for coverage and horn leech for recovery at higher levels. As for his tera mon, grass Sudowoodo is too perfect not to use so it stays. For his 3rd - 5th leader teams he will add Foongus for utility, poison, and Spore at higher levels. His final team member will be Arboliva to set up grassy terrain and help with a recovery-heavy fighting style. His final team will be Scovillain, Sawsbuck, Amoongus, Arboliva, and Sudowoodo. In post-game rematches he can add Rotom Mow.
Iono is one of the harder gym leaders, so she doesn't need much of an upgrade. Her first leader team will be Wattrel to dodge ground moves and Tadbulb for a defensive member. I love levitate Mismagius as her tera mon, so that can stay (though it may have to be a Misdreavus for early challenges). Starting at 3rd leader she will add Electrode to outspeed just about anything and explode if needed. Then her final member will be Magnezone, for being a generally amazing Pokemon. Her final team will be Kilowattrel, Bellibolt, Electrode, Magnezone, and Mismagius. Her rematch team can add Rotom Wash.
Kofu's team is a letdown following Iono, so I'm going to completely revamp him. He can start with Veluza (good in the early game and its filet away fits his chef theme) and Shellos to help counter electric types. His tera mon is going to be Pincurchin. Hear me out. It gets volt absorb to shut down electric types and can learn poison jab to counter grass types and even reversal to punch through steel. Plus, people do eat sea urchins and Kofu is a chef. His next team member will be aqua-breed Tauros, to showcase a new regional form. Finally, he can have Toxapex for toxic stalling for a final team of Veluza, Gastrodon, aqua Tauros, Toxapex, and Pincurchin. His rematch team can add Dondozo and maybe be a double battle that switches out Veluza for Tatsugiri to set up their gimmick.
Larry is one of the most memetic Pokemon characters but his team stinks. I'll start by giving him Tandemaus for multi-hit loaded dice shenanigans and Dunsparce for glare, ground coverage, and its evolution. For his tera mon, I do think the Starly line is a good choice for tying together his gym leader and E4 teams, it just needs a way better moveset. Next he will get Chansey for stalling and utility. His final member will be Oranguru to help counter fighting and because I think Larry would really empathize with it. His final team is Maushold, Dudunsparce, Blissey, Oranguru, and Staraptor. In the post-game he can add Slaking to that.
Ryme's team is pretty cool, so I don't need to change much. As the first leader she will have Mimikyu for disguise and fairy coverage, and Greavard as a new mon and general attacker. I do like Toxtricity as her tera mon for fitting her musician vibe and being able to dish out hyper voices and boombursts without hurting its partner. That being said, because Toxel's stats are abysmal even for baby Pokemon, maybe until Toxel evolves she can use an uproaring Squawkabilly to serve the same purpose. Her next team member can be Spiritomb (which isn't that powerful anymore since fairy is a thing now). Finally, she can have Gengar as a general ghost staple. Her final team will be Mimikyu, Houndstone (which should come out 2nd to last to take advantage of last respects), Spiritomb, Gengar, and Toxtricity. For the post-game she can have Dragapult.
Tulip utterly fails to uphold Sabrina's legacy as a powerhouse psychic-type leader. Let's fix that. Her first leader team will have Girafarig to counter ghosts and pure power Meditite to counter dark and represent her friendship with Dendra. For her tera mon, I kind of want to go with Tinkatink since that line has some great coverage to counter psychic's many weaknesses. Next she can get Flittle-Espathra and take a page from canon Geeta's book by having it be her lead and copying the player's setup with opportunist. Finally, she can get Bronzong to counter psychic's frail defenses with a steel-type. Plus Bronzor being a mirror fits Tulip being a model. Her final leader team (she actually was the final leader I fought in my first playthrough since I couldn't figure out how to get to her city) will be opportunist Espathra, Farigiraf, pure power Medicham, Bronzong, and Tinkaton. In the post-game she can get Gardevoir
Finally, we reach Grusha and Ice is a tricky one to make a good team for. I'm going to make his first leader team Sneasel for speed and coverage and Cetoddle as a bulky monster. His tera mon is tricky because nothing benefits from becoming ice type, but I'll give him Shellder because shell smash Cloyster is an absolute beast and has the physical bulk and water moves to maybe survive ice's weaknesses and fight back. Yes I know Cloyster is already ice-type but I gotta give him something good. Next he can have Crabominable to counter steel and rock. His final member will be Froslass to counter fighting. His final leader team will therefore be Weavile, Cetitan, Crabominable, Froslass, and Cloyster. In the post-game he can add Baxcalibur.
While this isn't a E4 post, I do want to mention a few fixes I'd make. Rika should lead Hippowdon to set up sandstorm (instead of waiting for a very frail Dugtrio to do it) and Toedscruel to counter water and use spore. I think Poppy is fine, but maybe a Klefki for prankster setup could be good. Larry needs to ditch Tropius and get almost anything else, maybe Noivern to counter electric. Hassel is fine, I just think his team could use some better strategy. However, I do have thoughts about fixing Geeta. I know she's not that impressive because Nemona is the real final boss of the victory road storyline, but they didn't have to do her that dirty. Therefore, I want to see how nuts I can go with her.
First of all, Glimmora is going first to set up toxic spikes. Maybe give it stone edge to double up on the hazard setting and a focus sash to ensure it gets at least two layers of toxic spikes up. Kingambit will be sent out last to take full advantage of supreme overlord. From there I think giving her a Cyclizar to mirror the player's raidon and set up shed tail shenanigans would be nice. I also think she should have a Goldengho since nobody else does and it would confirm to the player that there is a reason to go after all those coins. You may have noticed this team has a severe ground weakness and to counter that I'm giving her a Palafin who will flip turn out as soon as it shows up to set up zero to hero. For a final team member I think Annihilape is another powerhouse option. This leaves her team as Glimmora, Goldengho, Cyclizar, Palafin, Annihilape, and Kingambit. This also means her team is all Paldean mons, which I think is fitting as the champion is the representative of their region.

Muse: Gym Leader/Elite Four teams for BW3
- Following the prior post on what characters I'd like to see fill the Gym Leader/Elite Four roster if there was a BW3, I decided to fill out what Pokemon they'd use during their battles. The notion is that the characters now have access to Palden species/mechanics (Tera) through the collaborations with Blueberry Academy, and so have a few non-specialist types on their team. In any case where Tera isn't specified, assume defensive use. - The Triplets carry out their battles in triple/rotation formats. Inversely to BW1, the protagonist- Grey- faces the triplet whose ace has the type disadvantage against their starter, but they will use Terastallization to compensate. Criss - Purrloin, Wiglett, Simipour Chili - Capsakid, Darumaka, Simisear Cilan - Fidough, Smoliv, Simisage - Cheren will allow Grey to challenge him in any format, and has an appopriately versatile roster of Pokemon and Tera types. Single - Herdier, Hisuian Zorua, Squawkabilly Double - Aipom, Girafarig, Herdier, Tranquil Triple - Dolliv, Tranquil, Girafarig Rotation - Dunsparce, Hisuian Zorua, Herdier - Roxie is preferential to single battles, but will accept rotation battles. Her Tera preferences are dark and fire. Single - Toxel, Loudred, Whirlipede, Overqwil Rotation - Alolan Grimer, Koffing, Crobat - Lacey will naturally employ double battles. She'll usually aim for a Tera fairy, but has other options to cover weaknesses. Comfey, Venomoth, Whimsicott, Granbull, Excadrill - Drayton likewise prefers double battles, but he's willing to challenge Grey to single battles in respect to his grandfather/cousin. His Tera types focus on countering any opposition to dragon types. Double - Flygon, Ampharos, Haxorus, Kingdra, Archaludon Single - Druddigon, Sceptile, Haxorus, Archaludon - Burgh will focus on single battles, using entry hazards where possible. Spidops, Grafaiai, Forretress, Crustle, Leavanny - Brycen will accept either single or rotation battles, focussing on snow/rain strategies. Single - Vanilluxe, Alolan Sandslash, Walrein, Bisharp, Beartic Rotation - Vanilluxe, Abomasnow, Bisharp, Avalugg, Beartic - Skyla will accept either single or triple battles, making use of tailwind and rain. Single - Kilowattrel, Corviknight, Pawmot, Togekiss, Swanna Triple - Archeops, Drifblim, Pawmot, Togekiss, Swanna - ELITE FOUR - Each member's venue enables a condition that proves advantageous to their team. Elesa will have Electric Terrain constantly set. Rotom (form chosen at random), Togekiss, Galvantula, Pawmot, Alolan Raichu, Zebstrika - Marlon will have rain constantly set. Carracosta, Toedscruel, Jellicent, Starmie, Cetitan, Palafin - Marshal will have attack/special attack raised by 1 when each Pokemon enters. Mienshao, Lucario, Garganacl, Medicham, Conkeldurr, Annihilape - Iris will have the effect of Dragon Cheer applied when each Pokemon enters. Aggron, Lapras, Baxcalibur, Haxorus, Hydrapple, Hydreigon - And that's that. Wanted some personal touches on the roster (Skyla's Pawmot was gifted by Elesa, Burgh's Grafaiai reflects his artistry, so on) and some more imposing challenges here and there. Well, thank you for reading and hope your muses prove engaging in turn.

The names of your pokemon are lovely! Some of them sound like they have special meanings or stories behind them. If so, do tell! 👀
(@cinderpaw11)
Fifth ask! Yessss! And this one isn't mistakenly assuming that I am a Pokemon, either!
Hello! Thank you very much for your ask! I personally try to put quite a lot of thought into the names of my Pokemon, thank you very much for noticing. I'm more than happy to break down a few...
Medoh: Her name was actually supposed to be Medli, after a long-ago hero of the Rito I personally look up to. However, I was very young at the time and, for better or for worse, my childish mispronunciation stuck. Medoh herself has never minded, at least.
Galerider: I am, of course, a gifted Pokemon Trainer. However, my many talents hardly end there. Among other things, I am also the best aviator among my people in recent memory, and I have devised a way of creating an updraft that allows me to soar even higher. I call it Revali's Gale. Galerider's egg hatched on the day that I perfected my Gale, and as such I felt it only fitting to name him in a way that would commemorate that achievement. It was a good name for him; he, and he alone among my Pokemon, is capable of riding out my Gale for as long as I can.
Kingslayer: The former Champion of this region, as you may already know, held his title since before I was born. He held it for so long, in fact, that some of his detractors began to mockingly refer to him as a king instead. After I was (incredibly unjustly!) removed from my position, I began to train a new team with the intent of taking down his team of dragons and stealing his position, since he wouldn't give me mine back. Kingslayer, my Togekiss, was central to this endeavor.
Though I did get... many strange looks for calling a Togepi that...
Cloudhunter: I believe this one is reasonably self-explanatory. He hunts among the clouds (and rather looks like one himself.)
Shockbiter/Awestriker: There is an old saying, I don't care to reclal the origin, something along the lines of "shock and awe," my Kilowattrel and my Pelipper synergize very well with each other's strengths in particular and also tend to get along better with each other than with any of my other team members.
Fireflyer: She is a Fire-type and a Flying-type. Also, she and I like to race each other around the peak of Death Mountain when it's erupting for extra training.
I do have other Pokemon, of course. With the exception of Medoh, and in the interest of not giving anyone an unfair advantage when challenging the Hyrule League, I have no intention of sharing information about my other Pokemon here. If you are particularly lucky, you might happen to catch a glimpse of one or another in pictures.
Once again, thank you very much for the ask! I'm always delighted to talk about my Flying-types~

Pokemon Scarlet playthrough part 10: fish buddy comedy, plans to break into Area 51, and the completed path of legends.
Playthrough Masterlist
So I finally headed down to see the "False Dragon Titan". And I will say, I got confused because I went to where on the map it said it was but I sure as hell didn't see anything but a bunch of those sushi fish. I assumed that this island only spawned the sushi, I later realize there is a reason they are there.
So I ended up exploring some of the other islands because I didn't know what to do. I ended up finding not just one, not just two, but three more yellow stakes. I have found many yellow ones but I still don't really know what they're for yet.
I went back to the island. And then I realized something. I didn't get into a battle by touching the sushi fish, and also that they had text boxes. So at first I thought I had to defeat all the fish to make them disappear and by the time I saw the Big One, I had already defeated most of the fish, so I figured I might as well take out the rest of them first.
So when I saw the big one, I was "whoa that's big" and "that's the one I'm supposed to fight isn't it?" It was even saying "titan" pretty much. So just as expected when I fought it the boss battle began. Just as I expected, but didn't know for sure, the giant catfish was the titan.
So when I beat the first phase and it swam off I followed. It took me a second to find where it had gone, a rather sneaky one, isn't it? Well it's little buddy ran into the cave and the herb. And they powered up together.
Arven shows up, and I don't know how he got here. Did he swim? Ride his Cloyster? Is there any sort of water taxi service like there is for flying?
I'd say he was genuine help this time in the battle. I first used my Kilowattrel for catfish and then used my grass cat for the sushi fish.
I'm very happy his dog got all better! The whole line about playing ball with him again hit me in the heart. Hell yeah, you get your dog all better! Let's gooooo! Also Kori can now climb vertical rocks! Is there no where he can't go to now? The world is Kori's oyster!
So the professor messages me while Arven is there. Kinda wild that that was the first time he had heard her voice in years. Hurts a bit she's been talking to some stranger (me) over her son, I imagine. So yeah she wants Arven to unlock the door to her lab for me.
He's clearly not happy his mom and all, very valid. He's fine with opening the door, but not for her, it's for me. So I fly down there and he opens the door, we go in. Place is super dusty, looks like there hasn't been a soul here in years.
We get a video message where she's like "Hey I need you to break into this extremely dangerous place for me and bring that Scarlet Book." She's specifically talking to me but she's fine if Arven comes too. I really do wonder what the deal is with this book.
Interesting to hear that he's been to Area Zero before. It makes sense that it was were his dog got hurt. It explains why only the mystic herbs could help him. He decides that if I'm going in, he's going to go with me, very brave of him considering what happened to his dog.
I looks around the dusty lab. Find a couple more Occulture articles. And suppliances that haven't been used in a long time along with food past its expiration date.
Me and Arven battle. I think I might have been a bit underleveled considering he had Pokemon who were level 60, and my highest was 55. I was still able to beat 5 of his Pokemon with just my Flamingo, goes to show how kick ass it is.
I tera it at the start (It's a fighting Tera) I do pretty well with double kick. I choose it because I remembered he had some grass types as well as a normal type, I also knew he had a rock. I figured Fighting/Flying covered beating his team up pretty well and it did. His last Pokemon, the big dog himself, gave me a lot more trouble.
Sure I was a fighting type facing a dark. But the dark type had a psychic move and a fairy move. I tried using my grass cat next, while he may be weak as well to fairy, he also had a fairy move. my Play Rough hits and I only need to fit one more time. I miss. He hits me but grass cat toughs it out at 1 hp. Play Rough misses again. Grass Cat faints. and I finish it off with a different Pokemon.
So he says to me if we want to sneak in to what is basically Pokemon's equivalent of Area 51. We need a Champion and also a Hacker. I see that we need Penny and Nemona for the mission. It feels like we're in a heist movie getting a team together for a big operation.
I figure we need to complete the other paths to get them on the team. And that maybe they might have their own motives to get in there other than helping me. Next I'm heading north to where the last things are. I'll see you then.

Mikey: dark or psychic, because he’s technically a psychic but all the ‘punk’ Pokémon are dark types so he’d probably prefer them. Scrafty as his ace, since the ‘obvious’ choice Obstagoon is supposed to be Gene Simmons, and Kiss is ‘dad rock’, so he wouldn’t use it.
Anastasia: ghost enthusiast, definitely ghost type. Could also do psychic or fairy, since she studies those as well, but ghosts are her favorite. Mismagius as an ace, since it also has a witch motif, and she’s probably dabbled in witchcraft (with no results, of course).
Shaun: you’d think the ghost boy would want to man the ghost gym but he actually likes normal types, he’s thinks they’re cute. Big first gym energy with a munchlax or low level snorlax as his ace, since he’s also a lazy fuck who loves to do nothing but eat all day.

Jack: Probably Fairy, honestly. He loves cute stuff, total people person, and probably empathizes with creatures that are feared for their charm powers. Probably Gardevoir ace, because it was originally supposed to be a mystical knight. Could also do gallade, even though it’s not a fairy type it does evolve from one. Or could be an early game gym with a kirlia.
Emrys: despite his green color scheme, he’s very hotheaded so probably fire or fighting. He loves frogs, so maybe a poliwrath ace if we went with fighting, but I always assumed his favorite Pokémon would be tyranitar though, so he might break the rules like Raihan to have one as his ace instead.
Josh: in earlier drafts of the story he had electric powers before I realized it made more sense to give him no powers at all, but the electric theming still applies to an extent. Fun fact: he covers the one eye with his hair, because he has nerve damage in it and it’s permanently dilated from an electricity related accident (that he’s been a good sport about, since it was his own fault). He’d probably have something real showoffy, like kilowattrel, or maybe a cosplay pikachu since he’s a theater nerd.
Romeo: Late game leader with a real powerful type like dragon or psychic, probably psychic since he leads Unit 624 and they’re all classified as psychics. Also definitely has an unexpectedly powerful ace that most in game trainers don’t have, as a surprise difficulty spike. Like that one guy in the battle frontier who just casually has a latios. Latios would fit well, or maybe deoxys. One of those legendaries that there’s canonically duplicates of, so it doesn’t break immersion.
If your OC was a pokemon gym leader, what type would they specialize in?

Pokemon Horizons Episode 62 Review - A Soulful Rematch
Unlike the Basics tests where there are two chances, if you fail the Implementation Test, then that’s that. However, it seems that Ryme is a lenient person as she wanted Roy to come back to retake it once he got himself together. Since this was a special retake, she only had one condition: Fuecoco must defeat her Toxitricity on a 1 vs 1 and she’ll let him pass. It sucks that Kilowattrel is getting the short-end of the stick.

I didn’t expect Roy’s past to be shown and why he likes singing so much. It’s because his parents are sailors and that they always sing whenever they’re out on a voyage, which is what Roy picked up from them. He sings because it helps ease his loneliness from being away from his parents and eventually, brought him to Fuecoco. I was surprised to see Roy’s past brought up so suddenly because I’m sure many had assumed he had dead parents or something. That’s not the case. His are just absent from his life. Given that they’re out on a voyage, maybe he could meet them again in the future? I’d love to see a reunion between Roy and his parents! Also, I find it cute how Roy loves singing and it is able to attract wild Pokemon and flock towards him like if he’s some kind of Disney Princess.

For the battle, I’m divisive over it. I don’t like the fact that, like the previous episode, it mainly takes place in the second half and that it’s a 1 vs 1 match. Second, I don’t like that, while Roy and Fuecoco learned a new song to help overcome the predictability of their usual song, the whole thing was off-screened; this is just the usual Horizons’ usual habit of off-screening small, important details. I do admit that the new song is quite catchy. I also don’t like that there was huge teasing for Fuecoco evolving, but it was just bait. The croc did not evolve, but at least he accomplished one thing. I do feel like he might evolve in the finale of this arc given that Floragato did the same in the previous arc when she was a Sprigatito.
Though, I did like everything that transpired before the rematch. I liked learning about Roy’s past, learning that Nemona’s stamina is pretty bad, and that Liko will do anything to help Roy even if it means stalling for time. It was hilarious seeing Liko and Dot be introverts and not wanting to volunteer so Quaxwell had to do it. That was cute.
Execution-wise, this was the weakest battle in this arc so far; this is my opinion, just to let you know. I don’t get why both this episode and last week’s episode had to make it so that Roy battles Ryme in the second half while he just does this and that in the first half. It makes the battle and the writing feel lazy. Though, I am happy that Roy managed to get wins in both his Basic and Implementation Test. Congrats, Roy! What are your thoughts on this episode?
