Sarumi Spartacus AU! Misaki as Agron and Saruhiko as Nasir :3
I haven’t seen this one so I’m just going to go with the basic setup here, hopefully it’s okay ^^;; Imagine Yata as a slave gladiator, forced to fight all the time in order to survive. He’s befriended a bunch of the other gladiators and they’ve begun rallying around another slave named Mikoto, the strongest fighter in the ring who is also plotting a rebellion (well, Kusanagi and Totsuka are plotting a rebellion, Mikoto is assisting and fighting everyone else off). Yata has a ton of hero worship for Mikoto, he wants to be Mikoto’s right hand man and bring justice and freedom to all the other slaves. Eventually one day Totsuka is killed in the ring and afterward Mikoto starts the rebellion, all the slaves escape and leave together intending to free more slaves and pursue true freedom without anyone trying to chase them down.
At one point Mikoto’s men are searching for another slave, Anna, who used to work at the coliseum and was sold away before the rebellion. They stop at the house of this wealthy noble Mizuchi who was said to have briefly purchased her. Mizuchi has a house full of slaves including one named Fushimi, who works as his personal attendant. Fushimi doesn’t really care for Mizuchi but it’s not like he has anywhere else to go, his dad Niki sold him off into slavery and he’s been passed around ever since. This is the highest position he’s managed to claw his way up to and he’s not pleased when Mikoto’s men break into the house and kill Mizuchi. Yata removes Fushimi’s slave collar, all triumphant and bragging about how amazing Mikoto is, while Fushimi stares at him coldly and tells Yata if he wants gratitude he should ask someone else.
Yata doesn’t understand why Fushimi isn’t happy to have been freed, unaware that Fushimi is pretty much assuming he’s just gone from one master to another and he’s back at the bottom of the heap. That night he attempts to kill Mikoto in his sleep, Mikoto wakes up as Fushimi’s about to stab him and restrains him. Kusanagi and Yata come running in and Yata’s immediately incensed, like this is the person who saved you what the hell you traitor. Fushimi clicks his tongue and says only idiots believe in things like freedom, like youre crowing about being a free man and yet look at you wagging your tail to your master.
#sarumi#Talking K#...reading summaries has made me kinda want to watch this#it's not streaming on anything I have a subscription to so I'm off to the high seas :3c#anyway imagine Sarumi#I couldn't figure out what Munakata would be here maybe a competing person trying to free the slaves#through like justice and negotiation#so Fushimi can betray Yata going over to him somehow

If Fushimi told Yata his true feelings when he decided to join S4, do u think Yata would let him go? It likes the way Yata accepted his mother's remarriage just because she had asked him before she recieved the engagement ring. Somehow i think the story would be even sadder although they could still be friends after that.
Interesting question! I’ll preface my answer by saying that there are a number of ways this could probably go, so this is my opinion based on my own analysis of the characters. Other opinions on the subject could be equally valid.
I think things would go better if Fushimi explained himself, but I don’t think they’d go smoothly. Because Fushimi’s side of things is so overt and clearly awful, I think some people overlook Yata’s side of things (and I’ve noticed that a lot of the people who don’t overlook it take it in a completely opposite direction and heap the majority of the blame on him). The problem when Fushimi tells Yata that he’s leaving is that Yata wasn’t in a mindset where anything other than “lol just kidding of course I’m not leaving Homra” would have made him feel better. His mindset is “Homra is good, not-Homra is bad” and it takes a while to shake that impression. He’s hearing his closest friend tell him he’s leaving and going to a clan that’s on shaky terms with Homra as it is, and so his emotions are going to be all over the place.
And thing is? Fushimi knows this. He’s very observant, so I think he’s more than conscious that nothing he says is going to make Yata feel less hurt and angry and betrayed in that moment, so he’s like “fuck it” and breaks things spectacularly rather than dealing with the reaction. It’s a horrible decision, and it shows callous unkindness to both Yata and himself, but he’s not a healthy person with healthy emotions, so…
Anyway, getting back to your scenario. Imagine Fushimi has healthy coping mechanisms and so he explains properly to Yata why he’s leaving (feeling stifled in Homra, afraid of Mikoto, fascinated with Munakata, etc). I think in this scenario Yata’s still mad and they part on bitter terms, but the words resonate and he gives more weight to the things Totsuka says to him afterwards. Yata’s not dumb, he’s just blunt and honest and bad with subtlety, and he cares about the people he’s closest to. In MOR we see him trying to make some sense of Fushimi’s feelings and why he left, but he’s still in that space of “if I understand, then you’ll come back, right?”
My main beef is that no one bothers to sit him down and be like “that is the problem”. I’ve seen meta that says “Yata needs to figure this out, and then everything’s okay”, a narrative that can kind of be backed up with evidence from ROK as that’s exactly what happens (with a little help from Munakata). But.. no, that’s not really the case. IRL we have no expectations of “this person should just intuit the problem and then everything will be sorted without the other person having to vocalize it”. We are expected to use our words to explain things when someone else clearly isn’t getting it. This is the other half of the equation, and I was happy to hear it acknowledged in their reconciliation, with Yata saying “how was I supposed to know that?”
Without one half of the Fushimi/Yata equation, the whole thing can’t hold up. If Fushimi explains himself, Yata will come around after some time spent thinking about it. The encounter in MOR would’ve gone very differently, or maybe they’d have a conversation even before that. It’d be awkward at first, but they could build on it. Actually, my theory is that Yata would go through a large part of his later character development early (trying to understand others instead of projecting his own feelings on them) if he starts seriously considering the reasons Fushimi left. This can only happen if he knows what they are. Similarly, if Yata’s “us vs the world” mentality wasn’t there, Fushimi wouldn’t be able to bait him the way he does in canon and their relationship would go a lot differently, forcing FUSHIMI to change his mindset. The fallout requires both halves of the equation in order to hold up, and it requires both of them to change in order to reconcile.
That’s how I feel about it, anyway.

hello!! thank u so much for ur misaru stuff, they keep me going!!! anyways i wanted to say what do u think about trans fushimi and oblivious yata? i think fushimi would think (at first) that despite his lack of knowledge yata is actually very supportive of who he is?? wow. and then he finds out that yata literally doesnt know about it even tho fushimi doesn't really try to hide it (he doesnt care+niki would still call him by his dead name and ridicule him so what put in the effort). they go to get testosterone for fushimi and yata will be like "ah yes. doing normal manly stuff for two cisgender dudes" while fushimi just stares dead into the distance. maybe while they were both in the red clan things started going south for fushimi (losing misaki+maybe others finding out about him being trans and while theyre overly supportive fushimi doesnt appreciate it) and so in the blue clan hes relieved that no one pays it any attention, not even munakata brings it up (aside from maybe one time). so he just boils with resentment and is sure that people have already outed him to misaki, meanwhile yata doesnt know ANYTHING hes just like aw man my friend left us and betrayed me for no reason. maybe after reconciling and going out on few dates and some kisses saruhiko contemplates telling him but he's kind of afraid that he'll break this fragile bond and so yata only realizes when they go to bed and he is bewildered to the point that saruhiko maybe leaves the house bc he counts it as rejection? while yata asks his friends if ur penis can fall off. sorry for the long ask!!! hope ur having a great day<3
Yata sweetie please learn to read the room XD Yata’s so bad at figuring out things that aren’t said and Fushimi is horrible at communication so I could kinda see this happening (I can also absolutely see Fushimi making all these scenarios in his head where he has to keep this secret or no one will accept him and meanwhile absolutely everyone else knows and accepts him). Like imagine in middle school Fushimi wears the boy’s school uniform and uses the boy’s bathroom, since he’s generally in there while skipping class no one really notices or confronts him over it. Plenty of people are aware that he’s ‘that girl who wears the boy’s uniform’ though, like imagine the bullies who steal his wallet also misgender him too. Yata overhears and assumes they’re calling Fushimi a girl as like a taunt about him being skinny and pretty, not that they think Fushimi actually is a girl. Fushimi never says anything to Yata about being trans but he figures Yata has to know, like that first time Yata meets Niki when he’s taking care of sick Fushimi Niki calls Fushimi a girl multiple times (I’m thinking Fushimi’s name would be the same though because if he’s picking his own new name he wouldn’t pick Saruhiko). Yata doesn’t bring it up and at the time Fushimi is grateful, thinking that Yata is accepting that Fushimi’s a boy just because Fushimi said so and no one else has acted that way towards him, and meanwhile Yata’s just like ‘even though that guy’s skinny and has super soft skin and is kinda pretty is no reason to call Saruhiko a girl.’
So then when they join Homra I imagine Fushimi being kinda self conscious about it, like another thing that makes him not fit in and he’s never sure if Misaki has told everyone or not, except of course Yata hasn’t told anyone because he doesn’t know. I feel like Mikoto would probably know somehow once Fushimi becomes a clansman and I think Totsuka would figure it out quick too, just giving Fushimi a look and smiling all ‘ah, I see,’ which just irritates Fushimi more. Totsuka maybe drops some small hints that Fushimi might want to talk to Yata and it’s not until some time after that he realizes that one, no Yata really doesn’t know, and two, Fushimi absolutely thinks Yata does (somehow I imagine the Homra trio discussing this and Kusanagi just facepalming like these kids I swear). Meanwhile Yata finds out about Fushimi taking testosterone and is super confused before deciding that well maybe Saruhiko is trying to build muscle. He mentions this to Totsuka, who suggests Yata talk to Fushimi about it seriously, like maybe there’s something Fushimi thinks you know that you don’t. Yata considers and then he realizes, so Fushimi’s taking testosterone and his dad used to call him a girl and come to think even though Yata doesn’t mind changing in the middle of the room Fushimi never has, there’s clearly only one answer: Fushimi is self conscious about having a small dick (somewhere Kusanagi facepalms again). Yata decides to talk to Fushimi about this to let him know that it’s totally cool and that’s how Fushimi finds out that no, Yata’s not super accepting Yata’s just an idiot.
At this point things are strained enough between them that Fushimi doesn’t feel comfortable telling Yata the truth, assuming he’ll be rejected anyway. When he joins S4 I imagine at some point most of the squad at least know but no one says anything and they don’t see it as a big deal, the only one who ever really mentioned it was Munakata in the context of making sure Fushimi can get all the correct meds and such. In some respects Fushimi feels more relaxed here, where everyone knows and no one cares, and at the same time he’s probably stewing that someone in Homra’s certainly already outed him to Misaki. Yata never says anything though and I could see this eating at Fushimi, like he wants to just yell it in Yata’s face so Yata will reject him and get it over with, but at the same time he’s so afraid that Yata won’t want anything to do with him that he can’t say anything.
Eventually post-ROK they reconcile and kinda start dating and Fushimi keeps pushing the thought away, telling himself that Yata must know by now so there’s no reason to tell him, still afraid that Yata might not know and that Yata will hate him if Yata ever found out. One day they’re kissing and it starts progressing, Fushimi’s so lost in the sensation that he doesn’t even think about what he’s been hiding until his shirt and pants are off and Yata suddenly falls off the bed. I feel like Yata would immediately jump to ‘wait you’re really a girl,’ the idea of Fushimi being trans never crossing his mind and he’s really more bewildered than anything, but Fushimi’s already on edge so he just mumbles ‘I’m not a girl’ as he starts grabbing his clothes to make a quick exit. Yata grabs his arm like wait you can’t just go we gotta talk about this, Fushimi mutters there isn’t anything to talk about and leaves before Yata can stop him. After this I imagine Yata returning to the bar like did any of you guys know Saruhiko might be a girl and Kusanagi is just like oh finally as he sits Yata down for a lesson on trans people (and then once he gets what’s going on Yata heads back out to find Saruhiko, because he doesn’t care about Fushimi’s gender he just wants to be with Fushimi).
#sarumi#Talking K#trans!Fushimi#I don't know if Yata would be quite *this* oblivious XD#like even he has to get it at some point right#preferably before he gets into Fushimi's pants#just imagine Fushimi's face when he realizes too#that all this time he thought Misaki knew and then realizing 'right Misaki is an idiot'

Forgive me if you've done this one before, but say a strain that makes fushimi lose his memory like around season one? Maybe putting him at the time he thinks he's in homra and confused why he's surrounded by the blues. Munakata allowing homra to kinda watch over him till he gets his memory back. You think yata would make any attempts to try and take advantage of the situation? Maybe even trying to"predict" why he betrayed homra? Kinda like a second chance.(Sorry if it sounds odd, but you have a very good way of telling these kind of scenarios)
I'm imagining Yata trying to like 'subtly' pry into reasons why Fushimi might leave Homra except Yata sucks at being subtle – and actually imagine in this scenario it makes Fushimi's mood worse because now he thinks that even Misaki can see he doesn't fit in here, from the way he keeps asking Fushimi how he felt about being surrounded by Blues and making 'hypothetical' comments about betrayal. Like imagine Fushimi gets hit by this Strain and it takes away his memory of the last couple years, so he thinks that it's still the time when he was in Homra. Naturally he's on edge when he wakes up surrounded by Blues, maybe he got attacked while on his day off or something too so Fushimi's not wearing his usual uniform and so it doesn't even occur to him that he 'should' be in Scepter 4. Instead he thinks the Blues somehow attacked him, Munakata steps in to explain that they rescued Fushimi from a Strain attack and to question how much Fushimi does remember. When it becomes clear that Fushimi thinks he's still in Homra Munakata decides the best course of action for the moment would be to send Fushimi to Homra so that he doesn't get agitated, like they all can just play along and try to act like nothing strange has happened.
Awashima calls Kusanagi to explain, Kusanagi's fine with letting Fushimi back for a while but I imagine he would want to talk to Yata first, to be sure this is okay. Yata's initially like why would we want that traitor here but then he hears that Fushimi still thinks he's in Homra and has been asking for Yata and I could see that just like striking Yata to the heart, that 'the old Fushimi' is back for just a little while. Yata agrees and Kusanagi tells him to just make sure not to upset Fushimi, from what they know about the Strain power extreme emotions could affect Fushimi's memory in negative ways and they need to try and act normal. Yata's like no problem I'll just act totally natural, all while looking stiff and nervous and Kusanagi just sighs like do your best.
Fushimi returns to the bar, his hair is back to normal and maybe Munakata found a way to have someone sneak a bandage over his burn scar and tell him the Strain injured him so Fushimi doesn't notice that either. Yata smiles when Fushimi walks in but there's obviously something strained in his eyes and Kusanagi has to nudge him a little, like remember we said be natural. Fushimi asks why everyone's staring at him and Yata says they were just worried, come on let's go out for a while. Fushimi doesn't get why Yata seems to be acting so jumpy but he agrees, he wasn't really looking forward to being at the bar with Mikoto anyway. They go out to get like some fast food and Yata keeps giving Fushimi these looks, like he's just really torn between being so happy Saruhiko's back and knowing that it won't last, and wondering if maybe this is a second chance and he can finally figure out why Fushimi left in the first place.
Yata decides that he needs to take advantage of this opportunity, to try and find out why Fushimi left and maybe even show him that Homra's so awesome there's no way Fushimi would want to leave (even knowing Fushimi's memory will come back eventually, but desperately hoping that maybe he can change things and Fushimi won't want to go back to the Blues). But then he ends up really just making things worse, like making what he thinks are subtle comments about how Fushimi would never want to leave Homra right and that the two of them need to work together to become the strongest team and help Mikoto-san just makes Fushimi think that Yata's feeling like he's going to leave Homra for some reason. Plus Yata still doesn't understand Fushimi so all the talk about Homra being great and becoming useful to Mikoto only makes Fushimi feel more bitter that Yata's still thinking about Homra rather than him. And maybe Yata makes a comment about how Fushimi woke up at S4 and like trying to sniff out if Fushimi 'felt like that place was comfortable at all' and what he's trying to say is that S4 must be an uncomfortable place to be but what Fushimi hears is 'you probably fit more in that place than Homra.'
#sarumi#Talking K#I kinda imagine this ends with Fushimi going back to S4 even before his memory comes back#oh wait what if the betrayal just happened a second time and poor Yata has to live through that again#when Fushimi gets his memory back he realizes what Yata was doing and just clicks his tongue like 'idiot'#annoyed that Yata still doesn't understand and thinks only about Mikoto

Pt 1/2 - After Fushimi's betrays Yata, it's lonely at home so Yata takes in a stray cat. He's a sleek, black cat (maybe with some white patches around his eyes to represent glasses) and pale blue eyes. It takes time for the cat to warm up and trust Yata, but now he's affectionate to Misaki and Misaki ONLY. If anyone else comes over they get hissed/growled at, scratched/bit if they try to pet him anyway, and then the cat hides under Yata's bed until they leave. The cat's name is "Saruhiko".
Aw, this is a cute ask. So on Yata's end, imagine a scenario similar to the ask from the other day where he met Neko, Fushimi's betrayal has just happened and Yata's moved into a new apartment all alone and he's kinda lonely. One day he's hanging out on a bench at the park, just kinda sitting there and feeling down in the dumps and that's when he spots this scrawny black cat hanging around. It's clearly underfed and neglected, its coat is all messy and dull and it's pretty thin. Yata reaches out a hand to pet it and the cat hisses, Yata notices that its eyes are really blue and he immediately thinks of Fushimi and reflexively finds himself saying 'Saruhiko...'. The cat runs off and Yata sighs, like even cats don't wanna be with me huh.
The next day though he's back at the park skateboarding and he spots the cat again, still clearly all scrawny and hungry. Yata decides to go buy some tuna and he leaves a little food out near where the cat was, waiting for it to show up. Eventually the cat peers out of the bushes, Yata holds out the food and the cat promptly scratches at him and then grabs the food and runs. Yata figures hey, it's a start, and from that point on he slowly starts winning over the cat. Eventually it gets used to him enough that Yata can pet it and even pick it up, so he finally takes it home and finds a vet to take a look at it. The cat is in relatively good shape, just a bit undersized and underfed and wary of humans. The vet warns Yata that it might not be easy keeping it as a pet, like clearly someone abused this cat and then abandoned it. Yata looks at the cat and gives this slightly sad smile as he's like yeah, I think I can handle it. From that point on the cat is his best friend, always following him around and rubbing against his legs. Sometimes it can be a bit overbearing – like when Yata goes to the bathroom the cat will sit outside the closed door crying loudly, and it turns out to be a super picky eater – but Yata really gets attached and he just loves this cat. The rest of Homra not so much, because the only other person the cat will even tolerate is Anna, everyone else gets a palm full of scratches whenever they try to pet the thing. Yata decides since the cat is so prickly and such a picky eater there's only one name that suits it (and besides, it's nice to be able to talk to 'Saruhiko' again, even if this one can't talk back to answer).
Meanwhile over at Scepter 4, Hidaka gets the ridiculous idea to get Fushimi a pet because he doesn't have a partner like the rest of them do and besides, maybe a dog will help him open up more to the force. The alphabet squad even get the dog a little Scepter 4 uniform (Munakata is totally involved in this somehow) and present it to Fushimi, who gives Hidaka this cold look like what the hell is this. Hidaka's a little wilted but presses on, saying it's Fushimi's new partner. Fushimi stares at the dog, who stares back and wags its tail a little. Finally Fushimi clicks his tongue and says it seems smarter than the rest of them at least.
It takes Fushimi a while to get attached to the dog but imagine it slowly winning him over, like it sleeps on the bottom bunk and the first morning Fushimi wakes up and reflexively looks below the dog is staring back and wagging its tail, just looking so bright and happy to see Fushimi that it makes him pause before clicking his tongue and complaining about how stupid the dog looks. The dog is actually really well trained, like maybe Munakata did help pick out the dog and he sneakily specifically requested some kind of trauma therapy dog knowing that Fushimi really could use that kind of support. Fushimi doesn't intend to be friends with the dog but since it turns out to be useful he figures maybe he'll keep it for now, something which slowly turns from a reason to an excuse because he won't admit that he is in fact super attached to his dog (and then imagine it accompanies him on some Scepter 4 mission and almost gets hurt and the entire squad gets to see Fushimi throw way more knives than necessary at the idiot who dared to try and injure Fushimi's precious dog). Hidaka thinks the dog turned out to be a pretty good gift, though he wishes Fushimi would stop saying that it's better trained than half the squad. At some point Akiyama notices that Fushimi always looks fondly at the dog and asks if Fushimi's named it, Fushimi claims that the dog is stupid and loud and wastefully energetic so he named it 'Misaki' (no one understands what that means until the first time they see Fushimi and Yata fight, meanwhile Fushimi's convincing himself that stupidity is the only reason he named his dog that way and it has nothing at all to do with missing the real owner of that name).
#sarumi#Talking K#yes#I like this#this reminds me of early K when I heard S4 named their swords but we didn't know the names#and I was like 'Saru named his Misaki didn't he it's the only name he knows'#anyway Saru could probably use a service dog tbh#to help with his ptsd and trauma issues#Yata just likes having a cat it's like a little roommate who sometimes loves you and sometimes wants you to go away#so just like Fushimi basically

(1/3) HOMRA is a popular idol group and one of their most popular is their youngest, Yata. Fushimi is a fan but due to Yata leaving him to be an idol, he feels betrayed and is in denial about what he really feels and openly hates him and the group. For their latest concert, they'd be staying at one of Kisa's hotels and of course, she gets interviewed since HOMRA is a big deal and they also interview her son who is around Yata's age since the kid would know about idols won't he? Fushimi then
For once someone's stabbing people over Misaki and it isn't Fushimi XD Imagine Fushimi and Yata were childhood friends and maybe they did have like some minor success as a duo group, singing together at local events and dreaming of something more. They eventually get discovered by a record label that's only interested in Yata, thinking he would be a great fit for their new group Homra. Yata doesn't want to leave Fushimi though and he's planning on refusing, however maybe Fushimi like overhears some of the guys from the label talking and misunderstands them to the point that he thinks Yata's already accepted the offer. He feels all betrayed and left behind and decides that if Misaki is going to leave him he'll just break things off first, going to see Yata and breaking apart their partnership, saying he doesn't want to be an idol anymore and he's tired of Yata dragging him into this world that he never wanted. Heartbroken Yata ends up joining Homra after all but he's still upset and wants to stay in touch with Fushimi, who blows him off and tells Yata to never talk to him again.
Homra soon debuts and they become popular, Fushimi hates them but somehow he totally owns all their music and listens to it constantly (so he can, y'know, hear Misaki sing and think about how much he totally hates Misaki and never wants to see him again. This is also why he owns large amounts of Misaki merchandise which he keeps hidden in his closet and only looks at to remind himself of the level of his hatred). One day Homra's holding a concert at some hotel which happens to be owned by Kisa, she's trying to make Fushimi into her successor and so she drags him along to the hotel to help her get things ready. Fushimi has no interest in this and mostly wants to try and avoid Homra so that he doesn't have to see Yata again. There are a lot of entertainment journalists around hypng things up for the Homra concert and one of the reporters spots Fushimi hanging around near the stage. Mistaking him for a fan who snuck in the reporter tries to interview him, asking him his thoughts on Homra. Fushimi clicks his tongue and says he isn't here for Homra, talking about how much he hates the group and how juvenile their songs are. He makes special mention of Yata (having to stop himself from saying 'Misaki'), how Yata's clearly the most inexperienced and doesn't fit in with the group – as he's saying this though he references like specific videos and dances, so anyone who stopped to think about it might wonder how this guy who supposedly hates Yata knows all his songs and moves.
The interview happened to be streaming live and Fushimi's now earned the ire of all Homra's rabid fans, especially Yata's fan club. Fushimi gets doxxed pretty quickly and soon he's getting death threats and harassment. Fushimi doesn't really care though, like why should he be worried about what useless people think of him (and really there's nothing anyone online can say to him that isn't worse than what he's been through with Niki). Yata meanwhile learns about this from checking out his fan club one day, there's all these posts about wanting to make that guy who insulted Yata pay. Yata is shocked when he sees 'that guy' is Fushimi and even though he's hurt that Fushimi doesn't like him he also doesn't want anyone hurting Fushimi either and actually makes a post as himself on his official fan board asking everyone to leave Fushimi alone.
The harassment dies down after this but one of Yata's fans just can't stand it (and maybe Yata accidentally called Fushimi 'Saruhiko' in his post too so now this fan is like why did Yata-sama speak so familiarly to the guy who hates him). They find Fushimi's house and wait in front of it until Fushimi leaves for school, jumping him and attacking him. Fushimi's used to being jumped out of nowhere thanks to Niki and his quick reflexes keep him from being mortally wounded but he still gets injured and has to be taken to the hospital. Kisa's guards catch the fan and they're dragged off to jail but this quickly starts a whole scandal, that one of Yata's fans nearly killed someone just for insulting him.
Yata's pretty much beside himself when he hears this, frantic that Saruhiko could've been killed because of him. That's when one of Homra's managers, Kusanagi, notes that it's interesting Fushimi said he hated Yata but knew all of his songs and dances and Yata realizes with a start that despite his words Fushimi has been following Yata's career all this time. Yata decides that he can't let anything happen to Saruhiko and goes to visit him, probably with like a hat pulled down over his face trying to disguise himself. As it happens at the same time a reporter and camera crew have come to interview Fushimi (probably Kisa's idea, to get some publicity for her business), Fushimi's there in the hospital talking about how he won't take back the words he said when suddenly there's Yata in the doorway all “Saruhiko!'.
Fushimi's shocked to see Yata (and he says 'Misaki' so anyone watching can realize that wait this guy also called Yata by his first name), the reporters are probably excited because this is gonna be juicy. Yata gets right in the camera and tells everyone to leave Saruhiko alone, this guy is the most important person in the world to him and any fan who would hurt him is not a fan Yata wants. Fushimi's shocked and then recovers, clicking his tongue like 'the most important person? Don't patronize me, Misaki.' Yata's insistent though, probably totally forgetting the cameras are there as he confesses that he's missed Fushimi all this time and he doesn't understand why Fushimi left. Fushimi says he knows Yata was going to leave him anyway and that's when he finally finds out that Yata was actually going to refuse his place in Homra for Fushimi's sake. They end up having a dramatic reconciliation all caught on camera, lots of hugging and crying and of course it's all over the tabloids the next day, Yata Misaki Rekindles Love With Childhood Crush and now Yata's fanbase are all angry with Fushimi for an entirely different reason.
#sarumi#Talking K#some people support their relationship though#like suddenly their old partnership songs become popular#and a representative from Scepter 4 Records shows up at Fushimi's door :3c#imagine everyone watching their reconciliation live online#it's so touching people are crying

Slate War AU - everyone knows about the Dresden Slate, so there's constant war over owning it. Whatever country currently possesses it becomes the location where the fighting takes place. Adults are drafted into the war/students are recruited right out of high school. Yata is recruited to be a soldier, where Fushimi is taken to be a scientist to figure out how the Slate works. Yata goes MIA and Fushimi destroys the Slate in revenge for causing him to lose Yata. Yata is alive & Sarumi reunites.
I like the idea of Fushimi just going fuck it and betraying everybody in destroying the Slate just because without Yata around he has nothing to lose :3c So imagine the Slate as the great magical macguffin that everyone in the world wants, maybe in this AU it's a bit more compact though so it's easier to steal. The country who owns the Slate will receive great powers from it, say rather than Kings it's more like the unbound Slate that Hisui wanted, where the Slate just randomly grants powers to anyone within range and having it in your kingdom will cause more super powered people to be created. Those who have powers don't lose them though and even people outside the kingdom holding the Slate can gain powers too so it's like all the countries see this as if they don't own the Slate and have the most super powered soldiers than the other kingdoms will come and take them over. Whoever has the Slate will inevitably be attacked by all the other countries and so every country has a huge army, not just made up of people with superpowers but even kids right out of school are drafted to become soldiers.
Fushimi and Yata are a pair of high school friends who live in the current country that holds the Slate. Owning the Slate tends to be a double-edged sword, like the Slate triggers more prosperity among the people but it also means constant fighting on the border and those who can't afford to live in luxury have to join the army. Yata's super patriotic and ready to join the fighting, he wants to become a strong soldier who can fight to defend the country. Maybe when he was a kid the city where he and Fushimi lived was bombed by a rival country and they were saved by a young commander in the army, Suoh Mikoto. Yata's always looked up to Mikoto as a role model, the coolest person who saves those in need and fights for justice. Fushimi is more cynical, he thinks this whole war is stupid and doesn't get why having the Slate is supposed to be such a boon when all it leads to is fighting (and of course there's part of him that knows when it comes to fighting he isn't strong enough to protect Misaki, and he doesn't want Yata becoming an easily expendable cog in the war machine).
Right after high school though Fushimi meets up with a mysterious man named Munakata Reisi, who probably doesn't even ask Fushimi's permission before taking him away to become a scientist. Munakata's research department keeps an eye on all the students in the country's schools in order to pluck out the most promising, he's had his eye on Fushimi for a while and feels like Fushimi can become an extremely valuable member of their team doing research on the true nature of the Slate. Fushimi's belligerent at first, not wanting to help unless he gets to talk to Misaki. With Munakata's permission he's allowed to send Yata letters and they start doing the whole 'soldier and his sweetheart at home' thing, Yata sending Fushimi letters from the battlefield and Fushimi staying behind and learning all about the Slate and its properties.
Things are starting to get worse on the battlefield though, the country's leaders wanting to use the Slate's powers to destroy the other countries and pushing the researchers to find out more about the Slate. Fushimi notices that Munakata seems to disapprove but won't say anything, meanwhile his letters from Yata start getting fewer and further between. Eventually there's some big attack near where Yata was stationed and the letters stop, Fushimi's given Yata's belongings and told that Yata is MIA. Fushimi's hands tighten into fists, bitterly complaining about how useless this all is. He wants to get revenge somehow for Yata but there's no one he can fight, so instead he decides to use his research to destroy the Slate. He sneaks into the lab one night and just uses all the equipment set to a certain frequency and it causes the Slate to burst into hundreds of pieces.
This immediately causes an alarm to sound and soldiers show up, shocked to see what Fushimi's done. He's arrested and dragged to jail, where he's going to be put to death as a traitor. However before his trial there's like a coup and the country's rulers are overthrown by Munakata, who's secretly been plotting all this time to end the war. Fushimi is instead set free and as he steps out of the prison cell someone yells 'Saruhiko!' and tackle-hugs him. Fushimi's shocked to see that Yata's there and alive, he was being held prisoner by one of the opposing countries and has been set free now that all the countries have called a truce. Yata can't believe that Fushimi actually destroyed the Slate just to save him and Fushimi mumbles that he didn't do it for Yata, even as the way he's clinging tightly to Yata belies his words.
#sarumi#Talking K#...I just really like when Fushimi betrays people okay#especially if he's doing it to avenge yata#imagine him just getting this twisted grin as he destroys the Slate#he always thought the war was pointless but it's even more so without Misaki there#and he just wants to watch everything burn bc without Misaki he has nothing

Following the stressed!Fushimi, what if he exploded with Misaki (after ROK, they're living together), a few weeks after the end of ROK because there is still a lot of work to do. He realized he yelled at MISAKI so he run after him and found him at the bus stop where they met with Aya to catch the blimp
Aw poor Yata, imagine because this is so soon after the end of ROK maybe he's still not sure what the status of their relationship is and so it hits him a little harder than it might normally when Fushimi yells at him. Like say this is shortly after ROK, Scepter 4 is just totally swamped with work due to the Slate creating a bunch of new Strains before it was destroyed and still recovering from Fushimi's initial absence in the first place. When Fushimi moves in with Yata part of the reason for it is to keep him from trying to work, his leg injury is still pretty fresh and he needs to rest. Scepter 4 is getting overwhelmed though and Fushimi wants to go back to work himself, still awkward and unsure around Yata and dancing around explaining things like he promised. Yata's trying to keep an upbeat attitude but he's worried too, all he really wants is his best friend back but he's wondering if Fushimi's changed so much that maybe they aren't even able to get that closeness back again. Fushimi manages to convince Munakata to let him go back to work and he quickly ends up with a ton of stuff to do, constantly on his computer even when he's at the apartment.
This is getting Yata even more frustrated because it's like now he can't even talk to Fushimi in this time they have alone together because Fushimi's always working. Fushimi meanwhile is getting pretty stressed with all this work to do, plus his injury is starting to bother him but he's falling back into old habits and refusing to listen to the needs of his body. He's focused on trying to get some more work done one evening when Yata decides that he's tired of being ignored and that they need to talk, poking Fushimi like hey come on can you put the work down for a minute. Fushimi ignores him, focused on his work, and finally Yata snaps a bit and tells Fushimi to quit it already, walking right over and shutting Fushimi's laptop. Fushimi's irritation and stress immediately hits a peak and he ends up just shouting at Yata to leave him alone, he doesn't have time for this. Yata's taken aback for a moment, surprised that Fushimi's actually yelling at him and probably a bit hurt too, like Fushimi never really yelled at him this way before. He kinda stumbles out this little '...right, fine, whatever' and he storms right out of the apartment, biting his lip and trying to ignore the sudden lump in his throat as he wonders if it was even worth trying to go back to normal.
Fushimi finds himself standing there in the apartment alone, everything suddenly quiet and the usual self loathing washes over him. Fushimi clicks his tongue, trying to ignore the nagging feeling that he just ruined everything again, and sits back down at his computer. He can't concentrate though, thinking about Yata's pained face and how much it reminds him uncomfortably of when he betrayed Yata and burned his Homra mark, and Fushimi puts a hand to his forehead. He sighs quietly, like here was going to try and be better and he's just gone back to his old self, hurting Misaki again and really he deserves it if Yata never comes back again. That thought makes it suddenly hard to breath and Fushimi finally closes the laptop and decides to go look for Yata, figuring that even if Yata doesn't want to see him ever again the very least Fushimi can do is apologize.
Fushimi has no idea where Yata could be so he ends up walking around blindly, maybe starting at the park near Bar Homra where Yata found him after Anna was taken by the Center. Yata's not there and Fushimi finds himself stopping by other places he remembers, the old apartment and the building where they initially looked for the blimp. He spots something in the distance and there's Yata at the bus stop, sitting there silently with one hand touching his watch. Fushimi suddenly finds himself wanting to run, like if he doesn't talk to Misaki then Misaki can't reject him, but he steels himself and walks over anyway, sitting down next to Yata on the bench. Yata doesn't say anything and Fushimi shifts, not sure what to say. Finally he manages this soft 'If we'd gotten on the blimp, that time...do you think anything would have changed?'
Yata looks up at him, surprised, and then gives this rueful smile and shrugs like 'dunno, maybe?'. There's another silence and Fushimi coughs and then softly says 'I'm sorry.' That really gets Yata's attention and he sits up and stares. Fushimi looks down at his hands, mumbling that he's terrible at this. Yata's immediately like no no I was just surprised to hear you actually apologize that's all. Fushimi gives a rueful smile and says he promised to start saying things in a way even idiots could understand. That makes Yata smile a little too as he says he's an idiot after all and Fushimi shakes his head with this quiet 'You're not.' Yata gives him a fond look and sighs himself, saying that he wasn't upset with Fushimi, he just thought...maybe Fushimi didn't want to be with him after all. But that was just Yata giving up easily, and he doesn't want to give up on Fushimi this time, as long as Fushimi doesn't give up either. Fushimi feels that nervousness again, like he's going to ruin everything somehow, but he nods anyway and says he'll try. Yata smiles encouragingly at him and says why don't they go home. As Yata gets up Fushimi looks after him and then coughs and is like 'when we get home...do you want to talk?'. Yata's eyes light up and he reaches out a hand to help Fushimi off the bench like 'yeah, I'd like that.'
#sarumi#Talking K#imagine Fushimi slowly growing up XD#I could see this upsetting Yata at this point though#bc he's unsure of his status with Fushimi#so being yelled at this way makes him worried they're still enemies#when really Fushimi's just stressed and in self loathing mode

How about something with post-reconciliation sarumi finally getting past the awkward phase and just returning to a comfortable friendship, when saruhiko (in an ooc moment where he isn’t as emotionally constipated) realizes that what he feels for misaki is definitely more than friendship. he panics and tries to push yata away again to try and put an end to this mess, but even though yata’s completely oblivious to the reason,he’s not about to make the same mistake again, so he just keeps (1/2)
I can definitely see this happening, like now that they've become friends again and Fushimi's trying to become a healthier person and all that he suddenly realizes that not only do his emotions exist but he's having an awful lot of emotions for Misaki and he assumes that this will totally ruin his rekindled friendship. Fushimi doesn't have the confidence to believe that Yata would ever actually love him back and he thinks that there's no way he could just keep this a secret, like somehow he's going to screw up and tell Yata how he feels and then Yata will reject him because why would anyone love someone as screwed up as Fushimi. Not knowing how to handle this at all Fushimi falls back on old habits, even with him trying to become better he's still got his old shitty coping mechanisms (or lack thereof) and he doesn't know any other way to handle his mixed up feelings other than trying to push Yata away. On some level he knows that really he's just making the same mistake again, breaking his friendship because he assumes it will be broken without even knowing for sure if that's the case, but now that he's accepted his feelings for Yata the idea of Yata leaving him or hating him is too painful, Fushimi would rather shatter everything a second time rather than have to deal with Yata leaving him behind.
Fushimi doesn't go for out and out betrayal this time – because there's nothing really to betray and even an idiot like Yata will figure out that something's wrong – but he tries to just like subtly push Yata away again. He starts canceling any plans they make together, always finding a reason why he can't go drinking or spend the night at Yata's place, avoiding Yata whenever Homra and Scepter 4 end up working together, and just generally trying to act as if his relationship with Yata doesn't exist anymore. Yata has no idea what's going on because they were doing better and here suddenly Fushimi's pulling away from him again, but he's also not going to make the same mistake again and this probably just makes him even more determined to get close to Fushimi and find out what's wrong.
So the more Fushimi tries to shove Yata away the more Yata keeps showing up to talk to him, like oh okay you don't have time to go out because of work that's fine I'll just stop by your work and bring you something to eat. Fushimi's best attempts at turning him away don't work at all, Yata just keeps appearing and talking to him and being all gentle, as if he's dealing with a skittish animal who could run away at any moment. And of course this makes things even worse for Fushimi because now he's falling for Misaki even more, every time Yata looks at him with those understanding eyes and smiles at him and tells Fushimi to take his time Fushimi just falls in love all over again (and maybe Yata even says it out right to him at some point, like I know you’re trying to avoid me but I don't know why and until you tell me I'm just gonna keep showing up okay and Fushimi has no idea how to respond to that because he can't bring himself to just blurt out his feelings even though his heart is pounding so fast right now with Yata right there beside him staring at him).
#sarumi#Talking K#Fushimi probably ends up saying it somehow eventually#like he's up way too late and Yata shows up to talk to him#he's half asleep and cranky and not really focused#and he sees Yata and thinks this is like an overwork hallucination and he ends up saying 'I love you'#Yata is momentarily surprised and then he smiles and is like you idiot you could've just said so earlier#FUshimi suddenly realizes this really is Yata when Yata leans in to kiss him

Sarumi, Cyberpunk Au?
First, I assume this AU involves at least one of them owning a cool-looking futuristic motorcycle with neon colored lights on it because that's my immediate mental image and I like it. Like imagine Yata and Fushimi living in this crumbling futuristic city where the whole place has been torn apart by constant gang wars between the 'Kings' who govern the lower level city slums. The city itself was once ruled over by the Gold King, who attempted to create a utopia between the people of the upper levels and those of the lower levels. One day he was killed and usurped by a guy who only goes by the name 'Colorless,' Colorless proceeded to raze the old city to the ground and instead built up a new one from the ashes where the lower levels are a mess of crumbling tech and people scrambling to survive, while the upper levels are ruled only by faceless robots that Colorless is somehow able to transfer his personality into at a whim. The remaining Kings guard their own territories jealously in case Colorless should try to take over and the whole city is a mess, with Colorless's robots even roaming the lower levels and attacking anyone they feel like at any time.
Yata and Fushimi are like a pair of orphans living together inside some abandoned building, Fushimi is a genius with technical stuff and can recreate all kinds of things using any sort of technology Yata can scrape up for him. Imagine Yata working as a kind of courier, like the city is ringed with various high wires that are dangerous for most people to climb – more of Colorless's robots patrol there too, the higher you go, and only someone quick enough to skate along the wires can avoid them. Yata's taken the dangerous job of being one of those, he has like this cool skateboard Fushimi made for him where the wheels retract and Yata can guide it along the wires in order to do illicit deliveries and odd jobs for the various gangs and groups that control in city, and then Yata and Fushimi use the money to buy more things for Fushimi to fix up and sell. Fushimi's good at seeking out pieces of abandoned tech on the black market, like pieces of Colorless's robots or older technologies that belonged to the Gold King's era, and then repurposing them for his own use. He and Yata are basically a team, they met when Fushimi was still living with his weapons dealer father and Yata was the one who 'saved' Fushimi from that life, when Niki was eventually killed by someone he double-crossed Fushimi was finally able to escape his shadow and move in with Yata.
Then one day the two of them end up getting drawn into this whole dispute with the Green King Hisui Nagare, like Yata's trying out this pair of high-tech goggles Fushimi made for him and Fushimi's watching the feed from them back at their apartment on the laptop he made himself. Yata ends up inadvertently stumbling upon some of Hisui's people trying to take action in the 'Red Monster's' territory and then all of a sudden Fushimi's feed goes black and this hideous face appears on the screen telling him that spying isn't good. Fushimi runs to go find Yata and they both get cornered by some of Colorless's robots, in the end they're saved by Mikoto and Homra (who all have like flamethrower-style futuristic weapons) and they end up joining the clan.
As is Fushimi's usual thing he does eventually betray Yata and leave Homra, joining the Blue clan instead. Scepter 4 were once the peacekeepers working with the Gold King, but then when Colorless took over their leader was killed and the group scattered and broke apart. Munakata's the successor and he's basically made this kind of police force trying to rein in the lawlessness of the lower city levels while also secretly working to plot a coup to get rid of Colorless. The Scepter 4 clansmen all get awesome lightsaber-style swords and Fushimi gets his own futuristic motorcycle which he uses to get around the city easily on his own. He and Yata have their whole rivalry thing going on where Fushimi's decided to make Yata hate him but then at the same time both the Red and Blue clans are working to try and overthrow Colorless and so they're both like secretly worried about the other getting in danger and possibly dying if they take a step too far (and eventually it's revealed that Hisui's been the real power behind the throne this whole time and Fushimi decides to fake a betrayal and join him, and then Yata once again gets to soar above the city along a criss-cross of dangerous high wires in order to break into Hisui's fortress and save Saruhiko from being killed).
#sarumi#Talking K#also they all wear long coats with way too many belts like they're final fantasy characters#yes this is my idea of cyberpunk#shiny motorcycles and long coats#also sometimes flamethrowers and things#look it would be cool okay

AU where everything's mostly the same except Fushimi joins jungle of his own free will even if Yata's in Homra. But the more Fushimi encounters Munakata, the more he's drawn to him and Scepter 4. He "betrays" Hisui and joins Scepter 4 instead. Reactions? (Reisaru, please!)
Maybe in this AU Hisui offers Fushimi a place in jungle after the surprise party and Fushimi accepts because he already sees how attached Yata is to Homra and Mikoto and he hates it. Like right afterward they're planning on joining Homra but Fushimi already has his doubts, he wants power but he also feels frightened around Mikoto and he hates the way Yata keeps looking at Mikoto the way he used to look at Fushimi. He doesn't want to be separated from Misaki though and it's not like he has anywhere else to go, which is when Hisui shows up and offers to allow him to join jungle. Fushimi then decides to 'betray' Yata and joins up with jungle instead, he's all disillusioned that Yata's chosen Homra over him and he feels like in jungle he can at least have the power to handle things himself and not need to cling to Yata or have to play second best to someone like Suoh Mikoto.
After this Fushimi moves into jungle's secret hideout and in this AU I could see him keeping a constant surveillance on Yata but they don't actually fight or anything. Instead Hisui puts Fushimi in charge of various missions and Fushimi's too focused on completing these and getting more points, like as long as he gets points and shows he's useful here's a clan where he can always belong. It's on one of these missions that he runs into Munakata, like maybe he's plotting out the parameters of a mission jungle intends to give out to their users and as he's mapping out the area he stumbles upon a Scepter 4 blockade. Munakata spots him and Fushimi tries to play dumb like he's just a normal teenager exploring at night and Munakata seems to be playing along, escorting Fushimi through the barricade and telling him it is a dangerous night to be out alone. As he takes his leave Munakata notes that Fushimi's guardian has come for him and Fushimi looks up to see Kotosaka perched on the nearest building, he realizes that Munakata knew he was a Green clansman all along and he grabs a knife and whirls but Munakata's already gone, returned to the rest of his clan. It's not until he gets back underground that Fushimi learns it wasn't just any clansman he encountered but the newly awakened Blue King himself Munakata Reisi.
After this Fushimi stumbles upon Munakata enough that he becomes suspicious of it, like half the missions he's completing seem to coincidentally involve Scepter 4 being in the vicinity. Munakata always takes the time to greet Fushimi and talk to him and Fushimi's blunt with him, that Munakata knows he's a Green clansman and is keeping an eye on him. Munakata admits that he's known from the start but that isn't why he's seeking out Fushimi's company, in fact he simply finds Fushimi an intriguing person. Maybe during one mission Munakata even saves Fushimi's life and now Fushimi is so confused, because Munakata is supposed to be his enemy but he's somehow just drawn to him and can't ever bring himself to simply walk away whenever Munakata approaches him. That's when Munakata finally asks Fushimi to become his clansman and Fushimi thinks there's no way, he can't leave his current place and betray his King. Munakata wonders if Hisui really is Fushimi's King though, leaning in close and it just makes Fushimi's breath catch, his whole body shuddering at how close Munakata is to him.
Honestly I think if he did leave jungle though Hisui would likely allow it as long as it's of Fushimi's free will and he doesn't tell anyone where their hideout is. I could see this being a bit like in canon where Hisui and probably Iwafune and even Yukari don't mind so much that he left but Sukuna's really pissed off about it. Sukuna probably wasn't even a jungle member until after Fushimi left but he always feels like he's somehow being compared to Fushimi and he can't believe someone would leave a clan like jungle where they make their own rules and join some stupid stiff clan like Scepter 4. When he and Fushimi clash in ROK Sukuna's probably the one calling Fushimi a traitor and Fushimi doesn't even mind, he's willing to be a traitor if he can stay beside Munakata and discover for himself why he's so drawn to the Blue King over everyone else.
#Reisaru#Talking K#or maybe he joins Homra first and then quickly defects to jungle#so then Munakata gets a clansman with three colors right off the bat#Fushimi doesn't know how Munakata keeps managing to be everywhere he is#any mission he takes there's Munakata being all intriguing and having no sense of personal space

Ooh I love a good fantasy AU. So say Yata is a fire elemental and Fushimi a water elemental who live in opposing kingdoms. The border between the land of fire and the land of water is a place filled with nothing but mysterious plants and strange glowing mist and it's the one place where both water and fire can exist simultaneously without any kind of pain. Fushimi was abandoned there as a child, he wanders along the very borders of the water kingdom as this lonely lost elemental. One day he runs into Yata, who was playing near the fire border and was dared by his friends to cross over into the water lands. For a long time things have been tense between the two kingdoms, ever since Fire King Mikoto came down with this strange sickness after a meeting with Water King Munakata. No fire elementals have crossed the border since that time but Yata's not going to look like a wimp so he flies across the border. He's all proud of himself but then he gets attacked by one of the strange monsters that lives in the borderlands, Yata almost gets eaten but he's saved at the last moment by Fushimi, who just happened to be in the area and was also targeted by the monster. Yata's super thankful for Fushimi's help but Fushimi just clicks his tongue and says he only was saving his own skin, and he has no interest in dealing with fire elementals.
Yata's annoyed at that asshole water elemental but he's also thankful still to Fushimi for saving him and he wonders if Fushimi's living all alone in this place. Fushimi says it's none of Yata's business and Yata's like fine, stay here all by yourself then. Yata flies off but he keeps thinking about Fushimi all alone in that dangerous land and he ends up risking danger to return there to see Fushimi again. Fushimi doesn't get why Yata's so interested in him, no one's ever cared about Fushimi before and water and fire elementals aren't compatible at all. Yata thinks Fushimi's really amazing though and wants to know more about him, he feels like Fushimi knows all kinds of things that Yata's never even thought of but then at the same time Fushimi seems ignorant of things that should be obvious. Eventually Yata manages to break down Fushimi's walls a little and the two of them are able to become friends.
Slowly Fushimi begins to realize that his feelings for Yata might be deeper than friendship but he refuses to recognize it, because he knows that fire and water elementals really can't be together – even as close as he and Yata are they can never touch each other due to their opposing natures. Eventually things start coming to a head when Yata is invited to join Mikoto's court, meanwhile Fushimi is also discovered by Munakata and brought into the court of the water elementals. Fushimi doesn't tell Yata this though because he's worried that Yata will abandon him if he knew, since Yata hates Munakata so much. Meanwhile though Mikoto is getting sicker and Yata starts spending more and more time with him in the fire court, which leaves Fushimi waiting for him in their usual spot and left all alone.
Finally Mikoto dies and Yata goes back to see Fushimi, super upset about how that asshole water elemental killed his hero. Something in Fushimi snaps, his hands clenching as he realizes that Yata's been neglecting him the whole time for Mikoto and feeling like his relationship with Yata is just doomed anyway because after all they can't even touch. And besides, if Munakata's touch could kill Mikoto what could happen if Fushimi ever let Misaki get too close (and maybe when Yata shows up after Mikoto dies he does try to touch Fushimi for comfort and Fushimi almost gives in). Fushimi decides he needs to destroy this friendship in order to save Yata and he tells Yata that he's been working for Munakata and that he's been using Yata to spy all this time, laughing as Yata stares at him in heartbroken betrayal.
They separate and soon a war begins between the fire and water kingdoms. Fushimi doesn't care about defending the kingdom, all he wants to do is have the chance to fight Yata and make Yata hate him even more, because that way he knows Yata will be safe from him. Except the more they fight the more Fushimi notices that Yata's becoming weaker and weaker, his flame fading in the same way Mikoto's did and Fushimi probably thinks that he somehow 'infected' Yata even after all he did to save him. Munakata notices Fushimi's worry and tries to speak with him over it, Fushimi rebuffs him and scoffs over how Munakata can say such things when Mikoto died because of him. Munakata reveals that in fact he didn't kill Mikoto – he was trying to save Mikoto, whose flame began to die after his close confidant and former lover Totsuka was killed in the borderlands. It turns out that fire elementals are weak to a sickness that will cause their flames to begin to die if their hearts become broken and even finding a new love afterward can't stop it. Fushimi realizes that in trying to save Yata he may have doomed him and Munakata tells him that there is one chance, for someone who may wish to search for such things – Mikoto would not let Munakata do it, because he didn't want Munakata to risk his own body for it, but legend says deep under the borderlands there's a sacred flame that can rekindle the fire of an elemental suffering from the sickness. The sacred flame is only reachable by a water elemental, but the water elemental who touches it risks their own body evaporating away.
Munakata offers to show Fushimi the way to the sacred flame but Fushimi refuses, even so Munakata gives him a knowing smile and leaves him behind this map in the form of a puzzle. Fushimi stares at the puzzle for a long time and then begins to piece it together, traveling to the borderlands once more. It's there he runs into Yata, all weak and flickering out due to his sickness. Yata doesn't understand how Fushimi could betray him this way and Fushimi calls him an idiot, if he'd never tried to be kind to Fushimi in the first place this wouldn't have happened. Yata doesn't get what Fushimi means and Fushimi clicks his tongue all 'And me, I'm a bigger idiot,' right before he dives down into the glowing mist. Yata tries to follow him but doesn't have the strength, Fushimi meanwhile can feel his body being destroyed even as he keeps flying downward to where he finally finds the sacred flame. He takes it in both hands and gives a bitter smile as he slowly makes his way back up, by the time he reaches Yata his body is almost gone.
Yata flies straight towards him, shocked and frantic as he sees that Fushimi's fading away. Fushimi weakly calls him an idiot and pushes the flame towards him, it merges into Yata's chest and suddenly his fire begins to burn stronger than ever. Yata doesn't even care though, all he can see is Fushimi apparently dying in front of him. Fushimi weakly calls Yata an idiot and tells him not to cry, Yata's like shut up you asshole why did you do this for me. Fushimi opens his mouth but all that comes out is 'Misaki...' before he starts to fade. Yata yells his name and for the first time he takes Fushimi's hand, saying he can't lose Fushimi and that he's always loved him. Suddenly all the mist around them freezes, rushing in and swirling around Fushimi as his body returns to normal, Yata's love having restored Fushimi the same way Fushimi's love restored Yata.
#sarumi#Talking K#yeah I eat this shit up :P#ahh I wanna draw them this sounds so cool#and then afterward Yata and Fushimi are able to touch each other#bc their love like merged their natures slightly#and together they stop the war and bring about peace and all that

I know there's the thing where Tamaki and Mikoto are brothers, but also consider Homra as the OHSHC? Alternately, Scepter 4 as the Host Club.
Homra Host Club would be kinda funny actually, instead of the whole elegant and high class thing they would be catering to people with more rough and tumble tastes. Actually since we're going for Scepter 4 host club too let's just combine the AU and imagine they're like dueling host clubs, like the two clubs exist in the same school and they've got this whole rivalry thing going on for which club is the most popular. Homra is the bad boy club pretty much, Mikoto is of course their most popular host because he has this whole aura of a dangerous guy who could only change if the right girl – that being you, whoever his current client is – could win his heart and fix him. It always seems amazing to Kusanagi how popular Mikoto's become with the ladies because Mikoto doesn't even have to try, like he's still his usual less than talkative self and he spends a lot of time napping when he's supposed to be serving clients but that only seems to make him more popular, girls and even guys are instantly swooning over him and thinking he's so cool. Kusanagi himself would be like the vice president of the club who's really the one in charge, his niche is the cool big brother type who also has an edge of danger, like he gives off the aura of someone who's like running a bar for mafia informants. Kusanagi's probably the one best at sweet-talking girls, he's very smooth and charismatic. Totsuka's the third 'main' member of the group and his draw is being sweet and thoughtful, an image he very carefully and purposefully maintains for the good of the club. He's always asking girls to help him with his hobbies but he keeps most of the really weird hobbies for when it's just the club hanging out, he doesn't want to scare the girls away after all.
The rest of the Homra guys fill out their own niches as far as customer preferences go so that Homra has a mix of personalities to appeal to everyone. Chitose's the other sweet talker after Kusanagi but he's considered more of the flirty type and every girl wants to think she's the one who can really hold his interest. Dewa gets to be the more cold-seeming type who could warm up to the right person, plus he and Chitose have a combo thing going on that a certain segment of girls really enjoys. Eric is the standoffish type that reminds girls of a dog that just needs to be tamed, while of course Fujishima is the animal lover who's always showing clients his variety of pets (which on various occasions has included a hamster, two rabbits, a horse and an emu). Akagi's the one who seems all innocent and sincere even when he's saying what are obvious pick up lines, while Bandou gets to be the 'lovable loser' type much to his dismay. Kamamoto gets to do double duty, during summer he of course gets a lot of fans who think he's cool and handsome, while during winter his true fans enjoy how thoughtful and gentle he is, plus he's more huggable when he's fat. Yata is terrible with girls but that's his draw, he's this rough and tumble thug type who gets all nervous and shy around girls and clients think it's sweet and endearing. Originally when Fushimi was part of the club he and Yata did the combo thing where Yata would be all embarrassed and hide behind Fushimi, who would click his tongue and call Yata an idiot yet somehow there would seem to be sparkles and soft focus around them both and all the girls would squeal.
Of course eventually Fushimi gets sick of Homra and betrays them to join the other host club, Scepter 4. Scepter 4 is the more elegant refined host club that caters to the wealthier kids at the school, where Homra gives the vibe of a bunch of delinquents who clients want to rehabilitate with their love Scepter 4 is a bunch of untouchable ivory idols descending to mingle with the common folk. Munakata is the club president and he's a big draw for his regal, king-like aura and his genius mind, very few clients are aware that underneath this image he's actually a giant dork who really just wants to play puzzles with all of them. Once Fushimi joins he's naturally a huge draw, all the girls see him as this wounded tsundere who just needs someone to love him (Fushimi also gets to form an unwitting combo with Munakata, like Fushimi gets annoyed about something and Munakata comes over to dote on him and again the girls scream). Though the club is mostly male they cater to all clientele regardless of gender and so Awashima's there too, a beautiful and authoritative woman who's popular with everyone.
The alphabet boys fill out the rest of the roster with varying personality types. Akiyama and Benzai are the two thoughtful, kind adult types who are also known for being partners, they both entertain guests together and often have moments together specifically designed to stimulate their clients (like Akiyama will have too much cake and seem to get a stomachache, Benzai will gently cradle him and brush his cheek as he says Akiyama knows Benzai worries when he overdoes it, Akiyama blushes slightly and apologizes and all the girls are swooning while the two of them fist bump behind their backs). Kamo also attracts a lot of customers with more mature tastes, he's also popular among girls who want to learn how to cook. Doumyouji fills the excitable over-energetic niche, he's probably the one who gets to innocently flirt with everyone without anyone getting mad at him. Enomoto is popular with the more nerdy girls and those who like meganes but are intimidated by Munakata and Fushimi. Fuse has a special niche among customers who dislike Fushimi and think he's overlooked. Gotou is popular with the 'weird' clients and members of the Black Magic Club. Hidaka fills a niche similar to Doumyouji's with the energetic crowd but he's also popular with dog lovers and girls who think he looks like he would let them step on him.
#k project#Talking K#both clubs compete to see who can get the most clients#Munakata likes to look down on Mikoto and note how interesting it is that such barbarians can hold their clients attention#actually the whole school probably ships the clubs#like it's pretty much part of the draw#Fushimi would be so popular and he has no idea why#like he's rude to people and they get excited what is going on here#Sarumi is a very popular school ship

Fushimi and Yata both have a fear of needles and getting shots and use each other as excuses to avoid them until Munakata and Kusinagi trick them into getting their vaccines.
Imagine this being something the two of them have developed to perfection from their time as adorable middle schoolers who didn’t want to get any shots, how to avoid getting injections by having convenient appointments with each other. In middle school it didn’t work as well because Yata’s mom knew when to put her foot down and make Yata go to the doctor no matter what plans he had with Fushimi (heck maybe she made Fushimi get his shots too, since his parents probably wouldn’t make him go to the doctor even if he had to) but it’s a little easier to get away with when they join Homra. Of course then Fushimi betrays Yata and ruins everything and then they have to get their shots for a while because of course Munakata makes sure that Fushimi-kun is properly vaccinated in all ways.
Then ROK happens and Yata and Fushimi make up and suddenly they fall right back into old habits. Like maybe when Fushimi’s in the hospital after being injured in jungle the doctors want to give him some kind of shot, Yata happens to be visiting when the nurse comes in and he can see the way Fushimi stiffens at the sight of the needles. Yata immediately asks if it can wait until their visit is over, talking about how it’s been so long since they talked and needles make Fushimi sleepy so just like one more hour okay that’s all. The nurse agrees and leaves, Yata looks at Fushimi with a grin and he’s like ‘you can take a knife to the thigh but you’re still afraid of needles, huh?’ Fushimi clicks his tongue and denies it, Yata’s like okay I’ll have the nurse come back in then and Fushimi mutters that he saw Yata blanch too. Yata tries to deny it but then he just shakes his head and laughs like okay yeah I still am, it hasn’t changed. Fushimi looks at him and Yata smiles back and suddenly Fushimi finds himself smiling too, feeling this unexpected warmth in his chest as he’s like well maybe I dislike needles a little that’s all.
So on the one hand it’s kinda sweet that the two of them have found this way of bonding and rekindling old friendships but on the bad side they need their shots and keep finding ways to get out of it. Munakata probably catches on first and maybe he decides to stop by the bar one day for a drink and mentions that Fushimi-kun and Yata-kun have certainly been spending a lot of time together recently. Kusanagi has to admit that it does seem like old times and maybe mentions to Yata even missed a doctor’s appointment because he was with Fushimi, Munakata’s all how interesting Fushimi-kun did the same. I imagine them like low key conspiring on this and maybe what happens is Yata shows up at Scepter 4 looking for Fushimi only to find that somehow Fushimi’s already left for Bar Homra but Munakata just so happens to be there with a doctor and a particular shot that he’s been told Yata needs. Meanwhile Fushimi walks into Bar Homra to find Kusanagi all smoothly suggesting he sit down because it seems he’s due for a shot and it was requested that Kusanagi assist in this particular matter.
#sarumi#Talking K#aw but them bonding over a fear of needles tho#and Yata smiling as he sees there's something that hasn't changed#the two of them adorably conspiring to avoid their shots#Kusanagi and Munakata have to be sneaky about it bc Sarumi are so in sync now like they used to be

Mikoto, dispite the fact he doenst think of Fushimi as a traitor, consoling a distraught Yata after he's got through the initial rage right after Fushimi left and now is exhausted and sad. Could be shippy or familial.
This would be sort of sweet actually, it seems like Totsuka would be the one most likely to be helping to console Yata afterward but I think Yata would really appreciate Mikoto comforting him. Like right after Fushimi’s left and Yata comes back to the bar just pissed off and swearing about how much he hates that stupid asshole for leaving him. I think Totsuka would still do the initial comforting, using his lion tamer skills to help Yata calm down at least (so that he doesn’t break Kusanagi’s bar on accident), like just being all calm and kind until Yata finally gets most of his rage out. After that Yata’s just sitting there at the bar being miserable, Kusanagi won’t let him have alcohol since he’s just a kid so Yata’s like nursing some orange juice and his head hurts and his eyes feel all scratchy like he’s been crying. It makes him feel like such a loser too, like how could he be crying over a traitor like Fushimi what kind of baby is he and just being all down on himself and being totally drained of all his usual energy.
That’s when Mikoto just gets up from the couch and sits down on the bar stool next to Yata, not saying anything at first just getting himself a drink. Yata looks at him for a moment all ‘Mikoto-san…’ and then he wipes his eyes and apologizes for being so down. Mikoto says his name and then puts a hand on Yata’s head, kinda comforting in his own way and Yata stares at him blankly. Mikoto sighs and says it’s fine to be sad that his friend is gone. Yata shakes his head and says that’s not it, Saruhiko’s a traitor right so Yata should be glad to be rid of him. Mikoto looks at him straight on and asks if that’s how Yata really feels. Yata tries to keep up the facade but Mikoto is looking at him all honestly and Yata can’t meet his gaze, staring down at his clenched fists and his body shaking as he says he doesn’t understand how Saruhiko could leave him, how Saruhiko could betray them all this way. Mikoto doesn’t say anything to that, maybe raising an eyebrow but then he pats Yata’s shoulder again and says it’s okay for him to feel hurt and that Yata doesn’t have to pretend he isn’t, he doesn’t have to be strong all the time. Yata looks up at him gratefully and rubs at his eyes again, admitting that he misses Fushimi, and Mikoto smiles at him a little and tells him to go get some rest. Yata nods, smiling a little himself and feeling comforted by that somehow, like even though the pain of Fushimi leaving is still there he feels a bit more like he can keep going knowing that he still has the rest of Homra supporting him.
#Yata Misaki#Suoh Mikoto#Talking K#I see them as more familial tbh#even though I ship Fushimi with everyone I have a hard time shipping Yata with anyone else XD#I really like the idea of Mikoto being supportive towards him though#knowing that yata really needs it#and even though Mikoto doesn't see Fushimi as a traitor he also realizes this isn't the time for that argument#while Fushimi didn't betray Homra I think you could argue he did betray Yata by breaking their friendship#obviously he had his reasons but he still hurt Yata a lot and lecturing him about how Fushimi's not a traitor isn't what he needs to hear#not at that moment#later on once the pain's dulled then there's time for that talk

so i had this thing going in my head where everything in s1 didnt happen and fushimi is secretly connected to the slate. it turns out he's a king which have all colours and save everybody when they were facing off against jungle. he also has his own clansmen that also came to help him because he is unstable. how do you think this will work out??? reaction of the others??l
Somehow it’s hard for me to imagine Fushimi having like his own loyalclansmen, considering how adverse he would be to having so manypeople follow him…wait, imagine they’re technically Fushimi’sclansmen but maybe they were recruited by the Gold King becauseFushimi is so unstable and it’s the only way to keep him from being adanger. Like maybe he became a King at some point shortly after hejoined Scepter 4, he’s always had a connection to the Slate that hewasn’t aware of and suddenly after gaining two colors he startsfeeling strange and sick afterward. Finally one day he’s on a solomission near Mihashira and the close proximity to the Slate causeshis powers to flare up, Kokujouji senses what’s going on and sendsthe Rabbits to collect Fushimi. By the time he’s brought into thetower he’s awakened as like some kind of King hybrid, the strain ofhaving two powers belonging to two living Kings (as opposed tosomeone like Kuroh or Yukari who have two powers but one belonged toa King who’s deceased) caused him to gain a connection to the Slatethat made it recognize him as a King even though he doesn’t have theproper qualifications. His Sword of Damocles that appears is a mix ofcolors and already crumbling, Fushimi’s mental state being such amess to begin with that of course his Weismann levels are all overthe place.
Due to this Kokujouji decides to put people in place whose job it isto help keep Fushimi stable. However he doesn’t want anyone knowingabout this new King, including Munakata – oh, maybe he even has theRabbits erase Fushimi’s memory of the whole thing, like becauseFushimi isn’t exactly a normal King their powers will work on him andthe reason Fushimi now loves accessories is all of those were givento him by the Gold King (even though he doesn’t remember) in order tosuppress his powers. His ‘clansmen’ find ways to infiltrate variousplaces around him, like one is a janitor at Scepter 4 and anotherworks at the coffee shop nearby, one is a taxi driver near Scepter 4headquarters, etc., so they can keep an eye on Fushimi and make surethat all the power dampening devices are doing their jobs and keepingFushimi from manifesting his King powers. Fushimi occasionally hasmoments where he starts to almost remember but the trauma of becominga King also affects him and he doesn’t realize what’s reallyhappening.
But then say when he gets his Green powers from Hisui it jolts hismemory, which was already coming back after Kokujouji’s death. At thetime it happens everyone else is facing off against the Greens andlosing and then suddenly this huge Sword appears in the sky belongingto a King no one recognizes. Fushimi appears using all his Kingpowers and that’s when all these random people jump in and revealthemselves to be his clansmen. They defeat the Greens but thenobviously in the aftermath there’s all these issues, like Fushimifeels betrayed by his own people because they knew he was a King andhe didn’t himself, he doesn’t want anything to do with his 'clan’ orhis powers. Scepter 4 has to take custody of him for his own good butMunakata wants to help him, trying to find a way to stabilize Fushimiso that he won’t end up the same way as Mikoto. At first Homradoesn’t know what to think, like Yata wonders if Fushimi was hidingthis from him the whole time but then he finds out that Fushimi wasmanipulated too and he’s pissed, like how could people claiming to beFushimi’s clansmen keep this from him and let him be used this way, they’re supposed to support Fushimi and help him not let him remainin the dark about his own true nature.
#Fushimi Saruhiko#Talking K#oh but imagine his clansmen are having issues too bc they have to keep this from him#like at first being his clansmen was just a job to them#but slowly they warmed up to this sad little asshole child#he always looks so miserable and in need of a hug and they find themselves wanting to protect him#but they can't tell him what he really is and they want to#bc they really do believe in Fushimi's ability to be a King
