I thought it would be fun to design some Paradox Pokemon based off the weird futuristic animals from the old docufiction miniseries The Future Is Wild. For those who don't know, TFIW is basically a speculative biology fanfiction that predicts what Earth's animals and ecosystems would look like millions of years from now. It's kinda silly, but I always thought that the animals in that series had some cool designs, so I thought it would be fun to make some futuristic Pokemon based off of them. :D (I might make some more after this, but I'm not sure yet.)
More info is below the cut.
Tundra Hunter (based off of the Snowstalker)
Type: Ice/Dark
Ability: Snow Cloak/Slush Rush (Hidden Ability)
Dex Entry 1: A descendant of Zangoose, this Pokemon has adapted to hunting in winter ice and snow in the far future. It is the apex predator of its natural environment.
Dex Entry 2: This descendant of Zangoose hunts in arctic tundra in the far future. Its thick, white coat provides it with camouflage in blizzards and winter storms.
Tundra Furball (based off of the Shagrat)
Type: Ice/Normal
Ability: Oblivious/Fur Coat/Thick Fat (Hidden Ability)
Dex Entry 1: A descendant of Pawmot, this Pokemon travels across futuristic tundra in search of grasses and cold-adapted shrubs to graze on. Its natural predator is the Tundra Hunter.
Dex Entry 2: This descendant of Pawmot has adapted to living in cold tundra in the far future. These Pokemon are very social and live in herds consisting of twelve or more individuals.
Running Razor (based off of the Carakiller)
Type: Fighting
Ability: Keen Eye/Run Away/Speed Boost (Hidden Ability)
Dex Entry 1: A descendant of Braviary, this Pokemon has given up flying to become a highly efficient grasslands predator. Its crest of feathers are used for communicating with others while hunting.
Dex Entry 2: This descendant of Braviary has given up flying to adapt to a grasslands lifestyle, its wings developing into clawed forelimbs. It is one of the top predators of its natural environment.
Blubber Wing (based off of the Gannetwhale)
Type: Water/Ice
Ability: Thick Fat/Ice Body (Hidden Ability)
Dex Entry 1: A descendant of Cramorant, this flightless bird Pokemon has adapted to a semiaquatic lifestyle and spends most of its time hunting for food in the sea. They live in tightly-knit family groups and are very protective of their young and their eggs.
Dex Entry 2: This descendant of Cramorant hast given up flying to adapt to a semiaquatic lifestyle in the far future. They are ungainly and clumsy on land, but swift predators in the water.

How do you think the Autobots and Decepticons (TFP) would react if they saw the interspecies pairings, courtship and innuendos that exist between Cybertronians and humans?
Examples: -Skids and Charlene. -Sludge really liked Joy Meadows. -Powerglide and Astoria Carlton-Ritz. -Seaspray and Alana. -Wheelie had feelings for Papika. -Starscream fell in love with Jenny's charms. -Jazz and Marissa Faireborn. -Bumblebee and Scarlett. -Glide is known to pick up cute human girls and ride them around in his motorcycle mode. -Sunstreaker drives faster if he smells Junko Shiragami's marigold-scented hair. -Paddles really liked Randall and Ed. -Brawn and Cover Girl got married and used various technologies to produce a human/cybertronian child. -Crankcase and CONS4EVA. -Rapticon and Ne'll. -Action Man tried to flirt with Arcee. -Tigatron and Snowstalker. -Possibly, Optimus Primal once fell in love with a female gorilla. -When Diver was singing, he attracted many female frogs because of his expectations. -Wheelie thought Mikaela Banes was hot and later turned his attention to Carly Spencer.

We don't have to be the same outside to share the same feeling inside.
-Alana
Hi Thank you for the Ask!
Tfp Optimus Prime: Optimus doesn't have anything bad to say about organic-Cybertronian relationships. He's just glad that there are open minded being out there in the universe.
Tfp Ratchet: While he isn't grossed out by hearing about the different relationships that exists he not that big on hearing about the details. he simply doesn't care to know the personal details of relationships. (unless of course the person happens to be friends with him)
Tfp Arcee: She thinks Organic- Cybertronian relationships are a little weird but there is nothing wrong with them. Arcee doesn't understand how they work and would be open to learning more about them.
Tfp Bumblebee: Bumblebee thinks its cool that people don't care about species when it comes to positive feelings (ex: love, friendship) He would ask questions about how a relationship would work on a deeper level but other than that as long as they (the people in the relationship) are happy he doesn't care.
Tfp Bulkhead: He's a little confused and weirded out at first not wanting to ask questions but eventually curiosity would get the best of him and he'd start learning.
Tfp Megatron: Megatron looks down on organics so for someone to be with an organic romantically he would look down on them to. he thinks Cybertronians are the superior race and should not lower themselves to such things.
Tfp Starscream: He finds the thought of those types of romantic relationships (humans and cybertronians) to be very gross. How can a Cybertronian lower their standards to the point of being willing to be involved with organics? he can not understand how some find humans attractive.
Tfp Soundwave: He understands the concept very well and isn't bothered by the different relationships there are. He doesn't really care about them and if he were to encounter such a relationship he would simply treat it like normal.
Tfp Shockwave: He doesn't see the point in interspecies relationships there is no logic in them. He would not approve of such a relationship but he also wouldn't out right try to destroy the relationship he has a very cold an indifferent attitude towards them.

Just found your blog while checking the Subnautica tags and I love the work you have been doing. I’m gonna be binge reading your theories on the Garg for days, maybe weeks, when I’m not busy getting chased by Chelicerates in Below Zero.
Not sure if anyone has asked this in the past, but do you have any theories of what living fauna in Subnautica, and/or Subnautica Below Zero, are potentially from the same family/evolutionary branch? Not sure the terminology, beyond DISTANT descendants who evolved from any that would have survived the meteor that struck the planet.
I'm glad you enjoy my content! Sorry I haven't been posting recently, but I promise this project has not been abandoned!
There are plenty of species that are canonically shown to be related, so I won't mention em here. But as far as my own speculation goes, I'm thinking the Garg and Snowstalkers may be related (and by proxy, tropical Stalkers would be too!)! Snowstalkers and Gargs have very similar skull shapes, which could have also been convergent evolution, but I find that a bit more unlikely since the Snowstalker is mostly terrestrial and the Garg is fully aquatic. It's pretty hard to figure out with an incomplete fossil record though! And by incomplete, I mean virtually nonexistent. It's honestly a godsend they even INCLUDED fossilized specimens in the first place!
Tumblr media
This is a very rough mockup of my thought process for comparing n contrasting the Garg w/ the Stalker lineage

ok so i originally didn't want skizz and joel to be on the Sunbeam (ship that gets destroyed attempting to rescue you) because 1) I wanted them to be able to interact with everyone when they're introduced, not just the H-1 survivors (because that's where they would most likely land) and 2) season 10 wasn't out yet so I didn't really have much to build on beyond how they act with hermits in the life series
but now I DO have that and like. what if they were there earlier!! what if I got to have Joel meet Etho when Etho is mid-descent-into-Kharaa and Skizz could get into shenanigans with Zedaph on the planet!!!! Or what if I made up a reason for them to land in the dead zone and the H-3 crew had to rescue them, so we could get Skizz-Tango-Cleo-Joel-Doc-Stress-Mumbo all interacting together in the horrors of a half-functioning transient-class ship surrounded by ghost leviathans...
I'm torn, because them joining the H-3 crew upon being shot down does really entice me, but I'm also in love with the idea that this dinky little ship called the Shrek rescues the 25 survivors from their failing spaceship post-escape and has to deal with all the trauma and recovery. Skizz and Joel being thrown into the oceanic horrors, or the psychological ones?
Celebrating two of my favorite Guys joining hc by immediately reworking hermnautica to have them even though it’s a season 9 au

Botany of Orsterra (From CotC)
The list of foods and cuisines is proving really useful in my writing, so I thought I'd do the same with the plantlife of CotC's Orsterra, too. I'm missing quite a few because I can't review certain Traveller Stories, but I've got a few from notes and the like, and there's a fair bit from NPC dialogue in the various towns.
This is very much a work in progress!
There isn't as much as I thought there would be, since I was only wanting to include Orsterran-specific plants, rather than generic ones like roses or pine trees, unless a specific variety is mentioned in the story.
I haven't checked the memoirs yet either, but I'll be adding to this post every time I find some (or I find Traveller Stories to review on youtube), so thank goodness for the ability to edit here!
Anyway, without further ado, the list:
M = Medicinal B = Botanical E = Edible
Various: Blue Hydrangea {Master of Fame}, Crimson Devilbloom (M) {Ashlan's Tale} A presently illegal medicinal herb, and no-one knows where it grows, although it's been studied in Atlasdam so it may originate there. Thanks to @hazelgatoya for that one! Also, thanks to @theynanigans again for finding the mention in Isla's letters, too: "Day 361: Crimson Devilbloom - "The sickly secretions of that plant cause thinking to take meow-mentous ef-fur-t."
Theatropolis: Lapisleaf (B) {Eunice’s Tale}. Contains a pigment that creates a vivid blue, used in painting. (Edited to add) According to Isla: “When the nectar of these flowers is mixed with pigment, it changes into a striking blue colour. This was a closely guarded secret among painters of old, but researchers eventually discovered this characteristic fur the whole world to know.”
Theatroshroom (E) {??Can’t remember where this one came from??} Apparently, they're very tasty. Edited to add - they're from Adelle's Tale. Thank you, @theynanigans!
Atlasdam: None mentioned.
Rippletide: None mentioned.
Grandport: Quatrait blooms (NPC Woman from Quaragosa) (E) Apparently this can be stewed with fish to create a tasty dish.
Emberglow: Embershrooms (E), used in a variety of dishes. Frostfern (M) {Miles’ Tale}, a compound for a remedy used by the Knights Ardante. Snow Crystals (B) {Sofia’s Tale}, Grace Mushrooms (M) {Rodion’s Tale}, the spores of which are used in a remedy. Cave Mint (M) (E) {Shelby’s Tale}. Shelby's favourite herb, and apparently it can be brewed into a tasty tea. More info from Isla's Letters again: "Day 286: Cave Mint - "Do you know which herb can grow in even the darkest caves, and is useful as an ingredient in both food and medicine? Why, it's cave mint, of course! Hmm… I think next time I have afternoon tea with my cait fur-ends, I'll use cave mint to make tea." Thanks to Theynanigans for finding this!
Frostlands: Züsbaum (E), Per one of Isla’s letters, it grows in the Frostlands and its leaves have a sweet flavour. A tea made from them has a taste distinct from sugar. Many monsters love them, so picking the leaves is a monumental challenge, but many say it is worth the risk.
Also from the Frostlands: Snowstalks (B), a plant that grows in the plains near Emberglow. By soaking cloth in their sap, it can be used to make clothes that are warmer and better against cold conditions. Soaking cloth in the sap of Snowstalks makes it very soft, and will keep people dry. It’s also Lulu’s favourite.
Cathedral of Tytos: None mentioned.
Cragspear: Adorablooms (B) {Main Story}, Apple Blossoms (M) (B) {Therion’s Tale} Spoilers for Therion's Tale, but IIRC Apple Blossom was used in a perfume that helped to control/charm people. Might have different properties in Orsterra.
Valore: White Grape Blossoms (B) {Main Story} A flower sold in Valore, and of great significance to Bargello. Has no medicinal properties that we know of. Wyrmwood (M) {Millard's Tale}, a plant that grows around Valore, and is used in medicine.
Also Valore: Vermiliweed Blossom (B) Features in the main story. "A flower that flourishes in the Woodlands. Contrary to its adorable appearance, it is poisonous and used to hunt wild boars."
Sufrataljah: Drizzleshrooms (M) {Soleil’s Tale}, King Cactus Meat (M) {Soleil’s Tale} Both used in remedies. Drizzleshrooms were boiled with something by a Sunshade tribe to create a remedy, and King Cactus meat is bitter but can bring down Desert Fever.
Victors Hollow: None mentioned.
Sunshade: None mentioned.
Shepherds Rock: Nothing in the area is poisonous, according to Merrit's Tale. Antidock grass grows in the Highlands, and is medicinal (used to make antidotes for poisons.) Also known as Noxroot in other areas of Orsterra. Ephemera is a plant with distinct leaf patterns and purple flowers, and the use is medicinal. (powder from the stems can be used in first aid, and it can be dissolved in hot water to make a cold remedy.) Info again from the wonderful @hazelgatoya!
Flamesgrace: None mentioned.
Berecain: None mentioned.
I’cirlo: Panacea Herb (M) (E) {Former Edoras Ambassador}
Clearbrook: Bellflower (M) {Rita’s Tale} Possibly contains different properties in Orsterra, but I need to review Rita's Tale to see if anything different is mentioned. From Isla's Letters: "Day 312: Bellflower - "Have you ever seen an herb with bell-shaped petals blooming by the riverside? Its characteristics change slightly depending where it grows, so only ex-purr-ienced botanists can identify them!" Credit to Theynanigans!
Redleaf Grass (M). {Penny's Tale} Has bright red leaves, and grows along the rivers in Clearbrook. Waterweed (M) {Rita's Tale, but also mentioned in Hayes' Tale}. Grows along the Clearbrook Traverse, and has bright blue petals. Used in medicinal salves. Isla's letter mentions it as well, as something to use if you get hurt. Laurel Seed Oil (M) {Rita's Tale}. Alfyn uses it to take the scent of tallow away from his salve. "Laurel leaves have a pain relieving compound, and the oil made from their seeds can cool down feverish patches," Rita says.
Donescu: None mentioned.
Edit: From Largo's Traveller Story, we have Blue Poppy (B), a flower that is highly attractive to monsters, Slumbersage (M), a plant with a sedative nature, and Sungrass (B), a plant that Shaggy Meeps like to graze on.  From Isla’s letters: Slumbersage is purr-fect for making medicine to help people sleep, but it’s difficult to get the dosage correct, so don’t try without an apothecary present.
SPOILERS! Edit 2, from Miza's Journal in Bestower of All Ch.5: Marisnows (B), Rosettes (B), Scarletseeds (B).
Arte Shrooms (M), from Dorothea’s Traveller Story. When processed, they are both the cause and cure of an illness in Shepherds Rock. They are both tasteless and odourless.
From Cornelia’s Traveler Story: Snowrosea (M), found in the depths of the Cave of Laments. Can be used as a remedy for Frostlung when infused into a tea. Stilldrop (M), "a powerful herb that grows near the village of Stillsnow. A small dose has the power to cure all sorts of illnesses, but frequent use can lead to a condition similar to Frostlung." It has a sweet scent.
River Beans (E) Phaseolus Lunatus - Lima beans!
From Lemaire's Traveler Story: Phantom Flowers. (B) They grow on the North Theatropolis Plains, and appear a dull grey colour until it rains, when they gain a sheen similar to that of a rainbow.
From Ogen's Traveler Story: Mugwort. An actual plant with many uses, from culinary to medicinal.
From Emberflame Story pt 4: Lumiflower. One of the rabbits wants nectar from a Lumiflower, which grows in the West Valore Countryside.
They also want a Bestiodor Mushroom, which grows by the Great Tree's Tears. When combined with lumiflower nectar it creates a pungent odour that attracts monsters.

for the mounts ask: call, hastigi aaaand terizzi 🙋‍♀️
Three lovely gals coming right up!!! 💛💙💚
1, Does your character canonically have specific mounts?
Call has a warclaw! She acquired it from one of her earliest jobs out in the world and grew so attached that she smuggled it out when her contract ended. She doesn't take it into active duty much any more, unless she dearly needs a mount. Mostly her warclaw is for travel after years of doing its hard work when she was still a sword for hire.
Hastigi has a griffon who she obtained in HoT and has cared deeply for ever since. Out in the field the two are often together and she loves the advantage that flight can give her in battle.
Terizzi doesn't have any canon mount, she enjoys traveling on foot. If faster momentum is truly needed, she's a weird little freak who will use her magic and her bugs to keep pace with others on mounts.
2. Do you have any canon mount skins / coloration for them?
Call's warclaw is a lioness that started in the savage gladiator armor in her sword for hire days, then swapped to the plated conqueror armor when she became Commander.
Hastigi's griffon has the shiverpeaks armor skin, with the shiverpeaks snowstalker griffon underneath.
Terizzi is N/A for this question BUT the mount skins i gave her non-canonically are all the ones i could make look the most decayed. Can't remember off the top of my head!
3. How likely are they to rent one versus own one?
Call is going to rent one if flight is needed, considering she doesn't have a skyscale or griffon just on hand. But any ground travel will be via her warclaw.
Hastigi is not going to rent at all, her griffon does her well and there's no mount she'd rather rely on.
Terizzi is never going to rent or own one, just not compatible and she has no desire to change that.
4. Are there any mounts they prefer using (or others they can't stand)?
Call is averse to springers, far too bouncy. But she can handle the others well enough. In terms of flying mounts she prefers skyscale over griffon, enjoying the control over speed.
Hastigi is not a fan of skimmers at all, if she's going to swim it'll be by her own means and above-water travel just requires a boat. Not a fish fan. Anything else she would also turn down next to her griffon, but she can handle them if needed just fine.
Terizzi is not here for any mounts thanks she'll stick to her bugs!
5. Do they keep their mounts stabled, take them with them, or some secret 3rd thing?
Call keeps her warclaw in her home between missions, and in whatever stable is easily available in the area during field work!
Hastigi's griffon lives wherever she does. You don't want a griffon at your inn? Okay, she'll find somewhere else nearby to room for the night.
Terizzi is N/A for this unless you count the fact that her bugs live inside her!

Fr tempted to write an OC story for the Subnautica universe like after the first game would've been completed? Technically speaking? Like... Mostly just like my character is just some dude that had his own escape pod that never had a signal sent out to Ryley so my character just gets stuck with the planet after Ryley leaves and just enjoys the planet how it is and steals some of Ryleys left over bases and probably goes around just chilling, and when they send other people from Alterra he just fucking avoids them at all costs DJSNDJANSN. I could see him stealing supplies regularly from the researchers, and becomes another like Marguerite but doesn't believe in killing the animals as kuch as general exploration. He'd probably cross paths with her a few times and be mildly annoyed, and maybe even crosses paths with Robin at some point, just never Ryley. I feel like Marguerite and him would have an odd relationship, never really wanting to experience one another, but maybe leaving some type of note or something, and with all of Ryleys bases he left scattered around, I could see them using them as extra outposts in their travels, and leaving a sort of communication system of "I'm here fuck off" to the other. But they never leave the other without food or resources and I could see Marguerite getting a snow stalker and my character is pretty much like "fucking teach me" and its like one of the only moments they fully interact for more than a few minutes since my character now has to learn how to take care of the snowstalker... Idk maybe they become closer after that and chat so they're not so lonely but they also just like being alone lol.

Happy Garg Day everyone! It’s time to get to work!
I will be making a few adjustments to the Garg’s anatomy, and looking into if this creature has any living relatives! Currently trying to find possible ties between the Garg and the Stalker lineage! The Garg and Snowstalker’s skulls look very similar, wether or not this may have been convergent evolution or not is yet to be determined.
I swear I read somewhere that the Garg does have living relatives, but I can’t find it anywhere or remember if it’s an official source or not, anyone know what I might’ve been reading?
