Hell-bent on transition

You could call it a leap of faith, a declaration of independence from winter, a regret waiting to happen ...

When I told Sharon Saturday that my appointed task for the morning was to take the snowblower off our tractor, she gave me a look of extreme skepticism. But she knew that there was no point in trying to talk me out of it; she could see I was hell-bent on transition.

My decision wasn’t purely impulsive; I looked at the 10-day forecast and saw no snow. Yes, I recall an early-April snowstorm, or two, that paralyzed our city. But the reason I remember them was because they were aberrations. Right ...?

On Saturday afternoon it started snowing. What started as a flurry got heavier as evening came. But we awoke to a spring-like Sunday morning. The ground was bare. Bullet dodged.
