How about that forecast, Site-ฯ! In honor of whatโs probably going to be the last blizzard of the spring (donโt hold me to that, Iโm no meteorologist! :D) Site Security will be hosting a bonfire at the campground the evening of March 28th. Come get cozy before the storm hits! BYOTTB (Bring Your Own Things* To Burn). *Adhering to all regulations re: flammable substances and safe use of the communal campground, found under Hazardous Materials (Reg. F-451) and Outdoor Recreation (Regs. C-10 through -14) in the Personnel Handbook.
RSVP! โ
๐ all muses are welcome to attend this open event, taking place at the on-site campground on the evening of March 28th. These threads may be written whenever you like before the act closes, so long as they are dated to that time! several bonfires will be set and maintained by site-ฯ security personnel from nightfall to midnight. hot chocolate and non-alcoholic cider will be available; muses are welcome to bring food and/or shredder-ready paperwork, photographs of regrets, evidence of wrongdoings, unwanted papercrafts, and disappointing research to burn. there is also an optional interactive roll for a random [๐ฒ๐ป๐ฐ๐๐๐ธ๐ต๐ธ๐ด๐ณ] element!

Following several hospitalizations linked to the most recent serving of Frankieโs Famous Fish last month, all waivers have been destroyed and future shipments of โfishโ scratched from the order. Anyone who sees or smells โfishโ should report this to Site Security. Site Administration would like to stress and remind personnel not to try Frankieโs Famous Fish at the cafeteria; do not believe the rumors the dish gives you powers if you survive. If anyone has seen Frankie, inform him that the HR Department and Director Osterholz desires a meeting. Immediately.

The Security Department will continue to offer self-defense and weapons handling classes. Additionally, Op. ๐ท๐๐ผ๐๐บ ๐ต๐
๐ธ๐ธ๐ท has been ordered to conduct combat readiness assessments on all members of MTF Chi-00. When asked for comment, he replied: โThat so?โ and stated that they should โBe on time.โ Requests for elaboration were met with a smile, precisely one nod, and what may have been a laugh. Additional, remedial seminars can be arranged with Captain Kato in advance of your assessment.

Lab spaces may still be booked through the Head of Research at Site-ฯ. Please let them know what you intend to research, and be advised that lab space is in slightly shorter than usual supply due to โa Newt-related incident.โ Newt, who is a good dog, does not understand what this could be referring to. Neither does anyone else who was in the lab at the alleged time of the incident. Head of research insists that Newt โknows what he did.โ
SUBMIT A REQUEST! โ
๐ players are welcome to request a lab space for their researchers by contacting rp mgmt. please note that requesting a space as a themis member would immediately jump the line of the other scientists at the site. some themis researchers, depending on their prestige, may be given a full team of lab assistants to aid in their noble pursuit to secure, contain, and protect.

The Walking Club, a group of highly-intelligent pack of dogs, is looking for new members! remember โ DONโT WALK ALONE. That is a formal directive, not a request. Joining the Walking Club is especially critical given the WEATHER WARNING soon to be in effect; any personnel who need to move between site buildings while the WARNING is active must contact the Walking Club. The correct way to contact the Walking Club is to step through the nearest door, close it behind you,* and whistle as loud as possible. If you are not a good whistler, that is okay! There is no such thing as a bad whistle if you put your heart into it! The Walking Club will still hear you and arrive shortly. *If Newt has chosen you as his walking buddy, you are advised to brace yourself against the door before whistling, to prevent injury.

Good evening. It has been brought to my attention that our new additions here at Site-ฯ may be in need of a reminder as to the appropriateness of fraternization among personnel at this highly clandestine installation. To reiterate what was stated during onboarding and in the welcome brochure: โmaking eyes,โ โcanoodling,โ and/or โpartaking in the horizontal tangoโ with fellow staff members is not allowed at Site-ฯ. As you all know, the nature of our work demands absolute dedication and focus. Surely any rumors of anyone engaging in such acts on-site are, indeed, no more than crass rumors to razz the newcomers.

One of my dreams is to just take all my friends out for a Lunar New Yearโs dinner at a Cantonese seafood restaurant.ย The (admittedly loud) experience of sitting at one of the big round tables, the piping hot ceramic teapots that always spill on the tablecloth no matter how carefully you pour, the waiters handing out the hot towelettes before the first course.ย In the really fancy places, they give you actual rolls of towels from a tray of hot water, but most places just have the pre-packaged disposable ones. Lucky money has already been handed out (and a whole horde of young people suddenly conveniently had to go to the bathroom because opening your lai see in front of others is beyond rude).
Then the first courses - two course Peking duck, of course, a true hallmark of how special the evening is.ย Hot Cantonese seafood soup that you always squint suspiciously at even though everyone swears thereโs no shark fin in it.ย The rice comes out in perfect little domes, signalling the start of the main dishes.ย Bitter snow pea leaves stir-fried with garlic, white chunks of fish with snap peas, the dark mushroom dish in a stone pot that the older adults love, the crispy noodles, the obligatory sweet and sour pork, the crispy skin chicken with shrimp chips and sea salt on the side for flavouring, maybe king crab if youโre really feeling fancy (and rich).ย Then the moment when the star of the meal comes out, the whole steamed fish on a nest of ginger, green onions, and soy sauce. ย Sometimes the waiter shows it off, presents the fish to the oldest or most important looking person at the table for their approval, before whisking it away to actually cut up the fish so you can eat it.
Despite all this, someone will inevitably think thereโs not enough food and order a stone pot rice or a bowl of noodles, which exactly two people will poke at because thereโs already enough leftovers for several days.
Tiny ceramic tea cups refilled many, many times.ย Every five minutes, thereโs always someone spinning the Lazy Susan, reaching for the teapot (which for some reason, always has a little plastic spout taped on that does nothing to stop it dripping everywhere).ย The person beside them will pour for them, thatโs just manners, and for everyone else in the nearby vicinity who has a cup thatโs less than full.ย Inevitable calls for more hot water, as the tea steeps and becomes over-bitter for even the toughest old aunties.ย Tonight is for tea and hot water - perhaps some of the younger generation may indulge in a beer, and the really little kids bring their own sippy cups or get a glass of cold water, but there isnโt a soda or novelty drink to be found.
Dessert, usually red bean soup, maybe a sweet mung bean soup.ย Sometimes the waiter will bring over a few plates of tapioca or mango pudding for those who donโt want soup.ย Usually itโs for the children, but the adults do a really bad job of pretending theyโre not jealous the whole time.ย Surprisingly, there isnโt much of a fight over the bill this time, this mealโs been planned for weeks and everyoneโs paid their share in advance, but thereโs an even fiercer fight over who has to take home all the leftovers. Inevitably, it gets foisted on the younger generation, the elders talking about how they have no appetite nowadays and how itโs very bad for their health to eat all this and how it saves you kids having to cook a few meals since you canโt cook proper Chinese food anyways. Naturally the person who ordered the extra dishes will be saddled with the bulk of the leftovers, as is only fair.
The very slow and meandering goodbyes, people running to the bathroom from all the tea, and the last minute carpool arrangements because why would people go home in the same cars they came in?ย The yawning children wave a sleepy goodbye to the crabs in their tanks as they leave.ย The fish tanks are a vital part of any Chinese seafood restaurant worth anything, and have fascinated generations of squirmy children getting a little too bored in their high chairs. And that is another Lunar New Year!
#the valley is posting#food#this post brought to you be me unwisely signing up to run a lunar new year dnd oneshot next month#look i'm unemployed and i have very little disposable income so i can't take my friends out for a proper lunar new year dinner#the next best thing is finally running a dnd oneshot like i keep saying i will

A3! Translation - Regional Tour Instablam Posts (Autumn Troupe)
Autumn was a little easier to do than Winter was... youโll probably see why pretty quickly lol
Also, the like count on the posts seem to be completely random.ย This isnโt important to the meanings of the posts, but I think itโs really funny that Iโve gotten Kazu posts with 0 likes lol
Also you can see here that I tried to vary the way they type out their tags in terms of capitalization and stuff!ย Thatโs a purely stylistic choice on my part; thereโs not much in the Japanese that implies for it to go either way

Notes:
1. This was ้ง
ๅผๆฉใ (ekiben nayamu), which is literally โworry about the station bento,โ but that sounded to me like he wasnโt sure if it would be good or not
2. Dotonbori is a popular tourist destination in Osaka!ย Food is huge in Dotonbori, and Osaka in general, which youโll see in a lot of the posts about it. The Running Man sign is an ad for Glico, the company responsible for Calpico/Calpis and Pocky!ย The ad has been up since 1935.
3. Taichi says ๅฅฝใใใญใ (sukiyanen) here, which is Kansai dialect for โlove itโ.ย I normally donโt do anything funky with Kansai-ben, but if I didnโt itโd look like he was saying โI love Osaka. JK NO I DONโTโ lmao so we had to do SOMETHING.ย Shoutout to Moonlight for the simple suggestion!
4. Here Taichi uses the phrase ้ฃใๅใ (kuidaore), which basically means โeat til you drop.ย I had to change the TL a to โeat oneself to deathโ to make it sound ok, but it basically means the same thing, right? Omiโs โfood bingeโ is also originally ้ฃใๅใ
5. The standard tsukkomi retort in manzai as well
6. This was ๆฐๆฝๆ้ซ (Niigata saikou), with ๆ้ซ basically meaning โgreatest.โย I let myself have a little fun as a treat lol
7. Another name for Fukuoka
#a3!#autumn troupe#a3! translation#i think i've been mixing up 'a3! translation' and 'a3 translation'#i'm gonna have to fix the ones without the exclamation point#I'd like to try nagoya morning but I'm worried the ogura will be way too sweet for me#all in all the winter foods looked a little more appetizing to me lol#i've like half proof-read this so if i made a glaring error let me know

Ahh, my true passion. Glad thereโs this survey around.
Food
I crossed out what Iโve never tried before <- Might as well do this. Thanks for the idea, @justsurveysโ! :D Will probs bold and italicize the food I love, bold the ones Iโve simply tried at least once and liked, italicize the ones Iโve tried at least once but donโt like all that much, and strikethrough the food Iโve downright never tried before. Lotsa rules, but food surveys donโt come around often and Iโm excited for this one lmao. Letโs go.
Food: Your protein
pork steak lamb chops hamburgers vegan burgers chicken nuggets chicken fingers tuna shrimp salmon oyster
crab lasagna ravioli chicken soup beef jerky slim jims bacon spam buffalo wings sausage ham turkey meat balls
Foods: Your dairy

Tastes great when paired with tequila) pineapples coconuts (I only like it as coconut oil for curry) apricot cherries plums cranberry kiwi watermelon melon pomegranate grapefruit lime guava mango papaya
Foods: Your starch
French fries baked potato scalop potato mashed potato fried rice white rice bagel white bread whole grain bread French bread corn bread sourdough pancakes spaghetti macaroni & cheese oatmeal
Foods: Condiments

Surprisingly not a lot of US stuff. Thanks for being inclusive somehow! Hahaha.
Foods: Cereals
Cocoa Puffs Cocoa Pebbles Fruit Loops Cinnamon Toast Crunch Frosted Flakes Raisin Bran Apple Jacks Corn Flakes Cookie Crisp Capโn Crunch Lucky Charms Cheerios
Ok, I take back my praise. Tbf, most of the cereals I know are American brands + I donโt eat cereals all that much, so itโs not really this surveyโs fault lmao.

KOU SUSHI ๐ฏ๐ต // Delicious dishes ordered across two visits (last pic was another tableโs advanced order of assorted sashimi) from Kou Sushi, @kousushi_au Rivervale. โKouโ is a Japanese word for โlong experienceโ - and the Korean chef / owner here has worked in a Japanese restaurant for many years before opening this place of her own. Menu on @perthfoodmenu or click #PFR_KouSushi Somewhere Iโve been meaning to try for ages and so glad to finally do so for the first time two weeks ago with @inexology and @perthtobkk - returned back in less than two weeks later! Ordered the following (across two visits): - Aburi Don: Grilled fish (salmon, tuna, prawn, scallop), avocado, lemon, omelet, fish roe, spring onion, onion, snow pea, seaweed $24 - KOU SIGNATURE FUTOMAKI: Tempura prawn, cabbage, omelet, salmon, avocado, cucumber $20 - CHICKEN KATSU DON: Rice with chicken katsu, cabbage, carrot, cauliflower, bean, sauce $15 - GRILLED WAGYU ROLL: Crab salad roll and topped with grilled wagyu, fish roe, onion $22 - PRAWN CREAM CURRY DON: Fried Prawn, rice, curry sauce, cream, fried onion, lotus root, spring onion $17 - ABURI MIX: Grilled salmon 4pcs, grilled prawn 2pcs, grilled scallop 2pcs $24 - PLAIN UDON: Udon soup with noodle, spring onion, fried tofu, shitake mushroom $13 - MISO EGGPLANT: Fried eggplant, sweet miso, spring onion $10 - Miso soup $2.50 each The food here was fresh and delicious - especially love the wagyu roll, scallop nigiri, miso eggplant and prawn cream curry Don. Chicken katsu was very crispy but the colour of the batter was a bit too dark for my liking. The pastes and sauces are made in-house and proudly written on their board - love that this is relayed to the customers as it is indeed something to be proud of. Bookings recommended to avoid disappointment. Thanks for the complimentary miso soups on our second visit due to the wait. ๐โค๏ธ #KouSushi #Rivervale #Japanese #PerthJapanese #JapaneseFood #Sashimi #Aburi #Sushi #Katsu #PerthFood #PerthFoodReview #PFR_Japanese (at Kou sushi) https://www.instagram.com/p/ChPMz1YP5nD/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
