Pelt: Snotlout Jorgenson X Gender Neutral Reader
Tumblr media
Prompt: Tropesgiving Day 2: One Bed Pronouns: None Mentioned Physical Sex: None Mentioned Rating: G/Fluff Warnings: Snotlout the flirt, the twins fight, written with a male reader in mind - but it's never stated Summary: When someone forgets to bring enough blankets for the no-dragon training trip the group ends up having to share the few they do have.
When Hiccup first opened his mouth you thought you heard him wrong, but as he pulls the mix of fabrics and pelts from the travel bag his words are proven.
“That’s three blankets and one pelt.” Astrid confirms as she lays them out between the group.
“I could’ve sworn I packed seven!” Hiccup exclaims.
“Not everyone can be as good at counting as I am.” Tuffnut nudges his sister. “See, watch. One, two, three, four, five…” He pauses.
“Six?” Ruffnut suggests.
“No, no. I think it’s ten”
“Then what’s after ten?”
“As much as I would love to let you guys count for the rest of your lives, I’m a little worried about us possibly dying in the cold.” Fishlegs say as he begins to fiddle with his hands in nervousness.
“Look, we’ll be fine.” Snotlout insists. “I’ll just have Hookfang-“
“We don’t have the dragons, Snotlout. This was supposed to be a simple training exercise.” Astrid groans as her hands stretch out the blankets. “Maybe we can cut them.”
“With what though?” You join her in looking over what little protection the group will have from the cold. “If we use a sword or an axe we might damage it so much that we can’t use it.”
“We can’t risk it.” Hiccup decides, kneeling down to pick up the pelt. “I guess we’ll have to share.”
He hands the pelt to you and passes out the blankets, one to Ruffnut and a larger one to FIshlegs.
“No way am I sharing with you!” Tuffnut says as he tries to wrestle the blanket away from his twin.
“I don’t want to share with you anyway!”
“Guys, guys stop!” Hiccup tries and fails to get their attention. “Whatever, Fishlegs isn’t gonna fit under a blanket with anyone else, so you’re on your own.”
“Fine by me!” The gentle giant smiles, holding his blanket close to his chest.
“That just leaves us.” Astrid mumbles as a blush spreads across her cheeks.
“Whoa, whoa, whoa, you expect Snotlout and I to share the pelt?” You glance between Snotlout and your other friends.
“Unless you want to take one of the twins…” Astrid offers.
You turn your head to see the two Thorstons rolling around in the dirt, forgetting the blanket they’re fighting over.
“I’m up for it if you are.” Snotlout says in his usual flirtatious tone.
“Save it.” You scoff.
“For what, when we’re curled up together under the moonlight?”
You wait a moment for Astrid and Hiccup to wander over to the tree line as they begin to collect sticks for a fire, then you turn on Snotlout.
“I don’t want to ruin this for Hiccup because he’s my friend, Astrid too. They don’t get away much. But, keep this up, and I’ll switch so you’re stuck with Hiccup. Got it?”
“All right, all right. Sheesh, no need to be so harsh.” Snotlout’s face drops and, for a moment, it seems like he might get through the night with a decent level of dignity.
As the twin’s fighting dies down when they’ve forgotten why they were fighting, the group gets a fire started. By the flames, on all sides, you make your beds. Fishlegs smooths out the dirt underneath him and pulls out a little doll resembling Meatlug from seemingly nowhere. Hiccup and Astrid stretch their blanket out, giving each other a respectable amount of space that will dwindle once they’re asleep and unconsciously roll into one another’s arms. The twins are both sitting under their blanket, giggling about something Ruffnut found by the lake not far from here.
All of the group is settling in nicely for the night. Except for you and Snotlout. No matter how you tug at the pelt, seemingly a bear’s now that you’ve been messing with it enough, you can’t arrange in a way that keeps you from touching each other. No matter what, you’re going to be snuggling close if you don’t want your feet to freeze. As the night gets one you settle for facing away from him, your back pressing lightly against his chest. But just as you close your eyes, there’s an annoying noise that wakes you.
“Your teeth are clattering.” You note, quiet enough for only your bedmate to hear.
“I can’t help it, it’s cold.” He argues.
You sigh, pushing a bit more of the pelt to him. It may expose you to the cool air flowing between the ground and the furry cover, but it keeps Snotlout content and quiet. Soon enough you find your shivers overtaking you, making i impossible to sleep.
“If you scoot closer we can fit the pelt over us better.” Snotlout mumbles, half asleep.
“Not even in your wildest dreams.” You tuck your arms in as tight as you can, trying to keep yourself warm.
“It’s not like that. You’re cold, I’m warm, it’s not fair.”
“If you ever bring this up-“
“I just don’t want you to freeze.”
You hesitantly scoot inward, letting your back press solidly against Snotlout’s chest. The blanket falls to the ground again with that extra half inch of slack. You’re able to pull it in just a bit to keep the cold air from sneaking through.
“I think it might be every warmer if I wrapped my arms-“
“Shut up.” You cut him off.
For once, he does shut up at your request. Now, enveloped in warmth, you’re able to peacefully drift off into sleep. A particularly loud crackle from the fire wakes you in the middle of the night. You shut your eyes again to sleep, but an unfamiliar feeling makes you stay awake. Underneath the pelt, Snotlout has his arm loosely draped over your torso. You’ll never admit just how nice it feels.

Note
hii if you’re still looking for prompts may I request first kiss with snotlout x reader?
omg i fully thought i posted this ages ago, im so so sorry to have made you wait so very long!
first kiss with Snotlout
It was sweet; fleeting; decadent. Snotlout sought all he could reap before the chance was lost, leaning closer to you. Laughing, you watched his lips search for you a moment after you pulled away.
Opening his eyes, Snotlout flushed bright red. "Was it bad?"
You composed yourself. "No, not at all. It was great." You smiled subconsciously, lips tingling. "It was great," you repeated.
Snotlout grinned like a fool.
It was not his skill, per se, that had charmed you so. Any other idiot would've been as thrilling to kiss as a doorknob. This idiot -- your one -- had much more naunce: shy behind all that confidence, unfaulteringly flirtatious, and devoted as any dragon. More secretly still, desperate to please you.
True to his nature, Snotlout puffed out his chest even as his voice wavered, shuffling closer to you on the furs of his bed. "Can I kiss you again?"
Smiling, you answered the affirmative and dipped in to kiss him.
This time, you each took care to slot together properly, lips fitting to your counterpart. Snotlout tucked a stray stand of hair behind your ear and cupped your cheek, palm warm and a little sweaty on your skin. He smelled good; like a campfire.
Snotlout pulled away first this time, gratified, awed. "That was... wow."
You laughed, and nodded your agreement. "Yeah."
"I'm glad we--"
"Me too," you added, a touch too eagerly. Snotlout smiled toothily at you.

Separated: Snotlout Jorgenson X Gender Neutral Reader
Tumblr media
Prompt: Request, Snotlout and S/O get separated during a bad storm while scouting on dragons Pronouns: None Mentioned Physical Sex: None Mentioned Rating: T/Violence, Injury Warnings: Mentions of injury/possible death, Snotlout is worried, Reader gets hurt, dreams are delusional Summary: In a storm you’re forced to make an emergency landing. After you go to get firewood to stay warm things take a bad turn. Author’s Remarks: I wanted to do something different from the usual separation trope. Hope you like it!
When you agreed to scout ahead with Snotlout you thought it was only going to take a few hours. Just a quick fly by, check out anything suspicious, and move on. But no one saw this storm coming. It rolled in quicker than any other you’d been in and Hookfang wasn’t having it, neither was your dragon. The rain came with lightning and thunder that shook the dragons up and made them hard to control, so you set down.
On the ground the dragons are a bit easier to handle, but in classic Hookfang fashion the dragon refuses to listen to Snotlout as he tries to pull him towards the cave you spotted from above. If you could hear what Snotlout is yelling over the storm you’d help, but all that you can see is a blurry blob hidden in the rain making the occasional syllable. Eventually Hookfang gets annoyed enough at the rain and follows his rider’s pull all the way to the cave.
Once inside Snotlout collapses, his arms flopping to either side of him from exhaustion. Hookfang and your dragon encircle each other and curl up to sleep and regain their heat with small breaths of fire. You look around to get your bearings. The walls of the cave are high and there's enough space around the opening to have a fire without filling the place with smoke. A good thing since Hookfang is too cold and wet to ignite and their fire breath won’t last forever.
“I’m going to get firewood.” You say, more to yourself, thinking Snotlout has fallen asleep.
“What?” Snotlout springs up from the floor, his arms still noodle-like and not moving how he wants them to. “Out there?”
“We’ll freeze otherwise. I’ll find some wood, the dragons can dry it out and then we’ll have a fire.” You grab an axe from your saddlebag and fasten it to your belt but Snotlout stands in your way.
“You’re not going alone.” He says. He attempts to put a hand on your shoulder, but his arms are still dead-tired and refuse to move.
“I’ll be fine.” You lean in to give him a kiss on his forehead. “Watch the dragons.”
His protests are soon flushed out by the rain as you exit the cave. The rain pounds down on your helmet and makes an unpleasant sound so you take it off and hook it onto your belt as well. Wet hair isn’t the end of the world, but you wish you’d brought something with a hood. The island is surprisingly lacking in fallen wood but holds a large amount of trees. The tiny branches are hard to see with the heavy rain and largely go unnoticed as you step over them.
A strike of lightning illuminates your path and you see a decent sized log, perfect for a fire. You collect the log, hooking it under your arm before looking around to find more. The thunder sounds again and fills the empty island with a scary tone that suddenly makes you work faster. As your hands scramble the forest floor to find something wooden you see the lightning strike light up your surroundings just before a tree comes crashing down.
Snotlout is worried. He’s usually worried. But his arms also usually work and that makes him less worried. The dragons have fallen sound asleep behind him, Hookfang being kind enough to wrap his wing over his rider so he doesn’t freeze. The young viking doesn’t know how much time has passed, but he knows it’s been too long. The ache in his arms is starting to lessen and he knows that means you’ve been gone too long for him to be comfortable.
“I’m going.” He declares, only to be stopped by the weight of Hookfang’s wing over him.
The dragon has taken up a light snore as Snotlout wiggles his way out from under him. When he finally gets on his feet he gathers an axe and a blanket from his saddlebag that he didn’t even know had been packed. He takes a determined breath as he steps out into the open. The rain overtakes him and he’s soaked again within a few seconds, but that doesn’t stop him. His heavy footfalls can barely be heard within the storm’s forceful noise, but they can still be heard in your dream.
A nice dream given the circumstances. Snotlout has taken you on a picnic and it has yet to be interrupted by dragons or riders-- a rare occurrence for you two. His hair is starting to fluff up since he’s taken his helmet off and it shines in the sun. The grass underneath you is the kind you want to roll in and you can find a tall flower to pick and place in that shiny hair of his. He’s flirting like always, but he has nothing to win. He’s already holding your hand and you’ve given him a dozen kisses in the past few minutes.
His sight is much less pleasing. You’re on the ground, a thin tree pinning you down. Blood, barely seen through the rain and soaking ground, is coming from your head. Your skin is cold to the touch when he cups his hand over your cheek. He doesn’t think for a second why your helmet wasn’t on or why you didn’t see the tree coming down, his hands dart under the wood and start to lift. He can’t get it, his arms are too tired, you’re going to die out here.
His cocky expression is clear on his face when he tells you he can do a barrel roll. The flight is pleasant through the clear sky and no one else is here to bother you. Hookfang snorts before he listens to his signals and spins through the sky. You smile at them both as they come right side up. Snotlout’s hand goes to his head and feels his helmet has fallen off. You laugh.
His hands hastily move for the axe. He finds a spot a bit away from you and swings it down. The tree is thin and Snotlout is thankful for that because he doesn’t think he can swing again after the second time. The tree splits after he makes himself hurl it down one last time. The adrenaline fueling him now, pushing him past the pain of exhausted arms and legs. He gets a grip on the underside of the tree still on you and pushes it to the side as carefully as he can. His hand then goes to your head and traces the injury, minor injury thankfully. He gets you up on his shoulder and tries to remember the path he took. He’s lost.
Hookfang and your dragon come just in time. After a restful nap, they bound to Snotlout and he gently puts you in your saddle. Your dragon rushes to the cave while Hookfang scoops up Snotlout just as his legs give out. In the cave they form their sleeping space again, placing you and Snotlout in the middle. What little fire they have left they use to heat the cave floor under them and trap that heat with their bodies, keeping their riders warm as they curl into each other.
