send me a word and i’ll make/tell a headcanon I have about my character involving that word.
Tumblr media
Sniper will listen to just about any kind of music that comes up on his radio. As he’s spent time in the states, his taste has definitely shifted.
...He listens to a lot of country music.
          Don’t judge him.

merc singing headcanons because fuck you(/j i love you all) this is my house
- Spy is like a professionally trained opera singer, either for career reasons or just because he felt like it bc I feel like he just picks up those kinds of skills on a regular basis. he's a tenor ! radiates RAW tenor energy to me ! is a little out of practice bc to be honest he's a little ashamed of it but whenever he ends up imprisoned by whatever big bad criminal organization he's angered this time (which happens VERY often) he likes to sing to pass the time. nobody on the team knows about his singing ability except for engy, who caught him doing it at some point because he's ALSO a nosy bastard! engy tries to convince him to sing for the team all the time but he refuses to because he's sooooooooo embarassed </3. they def harmonize when they're alone together though
- speaking of Engy never got professional training or anything but I definitely think he was in a few musicals during his high school career! he only did it for a little bit before he found his true calling in theater tech but the damage was already done and he LVOE LOVE LOVES singing all the time always whenever he gets the chance to. I think he's a really smooth rich baritone, with a little bit of a nasally sound but kind of in a good way. he's kind of obvious--sometimes he pulls out his guitar and plays and sings for the team whenever they're gathered somewhere together ! he also hums and sings CONSTANTLY whenever he's like working or cooking or whatever he just likes music a lot !!!!
- Scout totally like jams out to Popular Songs(tm) and sings along to them but he doesn't really sing that much besides that, obviously barring like humming his Theme Song since he totally has one. he's a Tenor 2. I think he tries to do falsetto a lot and is not good at it </3. him and engy like to sing together for sure though! sometimes engy puts on a record or plays somethin on guitar and they both sing along to it
- obviously unsure about Pyro... they could go any way. I think they hum along to whatever anybody else near them is singing and they REALLY like dolly parton but they're more of a dancing person! just dancing! it feels like wrong somehow but I think it'd be funny if they were randomly like high high high soprano so I'll mention it anyway
- Heavy is like deep deep deep deep bass. like, earthshaking deep. he liked to sing for his sisters and now he likes to sing for the team ! he knows a lot of Russian folk songs and stuff and he's really really good at singing them--I think a lot of times people ask him to sing for them (if they can swallow their pride lmao, varies by member) because it really is like super calming. every night before bed he sings to all of his guns. he likes to sing with engy when it's just the two of them (or when they feel like it otherwise)! usually they both improvise and harmonize really well and it's really really nice <3
- Soldier's singing voice sounds like metal tearing </3 but everyday at 6 am he sings America The Beautiful to wake everyone up and he usually makes up new lyrics all the time. he doesn't really sing outside of national anthems and stuff because as he sees it it's a waste. engy occasionally manages to convince him to come out of his shell and sings some country songs and stuff he knows and... it still sounds awful but they're working on it. they're getting there
- Medic's a kind of airy, sweet baritone bordering on tenor, and he has a pretty good singing voice in german but as soon as he switches to english it's like... not good. the presentation is in the vowels. his singing voice is one of the things he's actually like truly embarrassed by and his singing is usually reserved exclusively for his doves (and heavy and engy since he’s married to them obviously<3).
- Sniper’s a bass I think, though much higher than Heavy. he doesn’t have much practice and is a little tonedeaf to be honest but when it’s just him in his van he likes to him nursery rhymes his parents taught him and sometimes sings along to songs that come on on the radio while he’s driving. he’s also VERY embarrassed by his singing voice but it’s not hard to draw it out if you’re a little persistent since he really does like singing. he looooves quietly joining in if someone else is singing something else he knows—he just likes how it feels, yknow?
- Demo knows sea shanties and Scottish folk songs and stuff like that and he loves just randomly breaking out into song whenever the mood is right. his voice is a bit scratchy and heavy but he still pulls it off pretty well since he’s just having such a darn good old time ! most of the team has learned most of the songs he usually sings and they usually join in with him and sometimes it just ends with the whole team singing this 1 song and it usually sounds terrible and it’s kind of amazing. they’re having so much fun can’t you see !!!! Demo brings people TOGETHER BITCH !!!!!! HELL YEAH!!!!!!!!!

TF2 road trip headcanons!
For the lovely @supportclassstan
Scout- Scout lowkey Hates road trips Because he has to sit in one place for so long. But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t enjoy your company. Be prepared for sing alongs and stopping at the worlds largest rubber band ball and any other weird roadside attraction (you’re also the one driving cause this boy can’t even read what makes you think he could drive?)
Soldier- you wanna go on a Road Trip? You mean the most American field trip ever! Soldier knows every location you two have to stop at (and all the best local restaurants in each area!) be prepared to blast music and laugh the entire time you two are on the road!
Pyro- A road trip? Oh geez, they think the idea is super fun! They pack everything for the two of you; snacks, drinks, chargers, books, anything you could imagine they’re prepared! They’ll take turns driving for you when they notice that you’re starting to get sleepy, every the thoughtful one.
Demo- You better be prepared to be the one driving the whole way there cause this man will drink until you get to your destination (and more). That doesn’t mean he won’t offer to take over when he sees you’re getting agitated by dumbass drivers. That being said if you get cut off in traffic he’s totally leaning out the window and screaming every obscenity he knows at the fool.
Heavy- Heavy has never been on a road trip! But he’s more than welcome to join you when you bring up the idea. He helps you plan where to stop and what to see so that the both of you have a good time. Hell, he’d bring a book to read to you while you drive (he’s the 70s version of audible).
Engineer- Engie just LOVES road trips! He used to go on them as a kid and had a bunch of fun so when you bring it up he jumps at the chance. He asks you what you want to see and he knows the quickest route there. He drives for you so you can sit back, relax, and enjoy the scenery. He also has a whole mixtape of classic country songs to play on the way there (He will change it if you don’t like it though).
Medic- oh man, does this man like a good road trip. He insists on stopping at any tourist trap that interests him (usually weird museums). He’ll spend all his money in the gift shops and end up getting something really “weird” (IE a mishmash of different animal parts glued together). He calls it art and happily throws it in the trunk with his growing collection.
Sniper- Sniper is the King™️ of road trips. He literally lives in a van so what makes you think he wouldn’t just travel by himself? He’s so glad to have you with him though. He asks when you need to take a break, if you’d like to stop for food, basically anything. He’s very concerned on your well being and tries to make sure that you’re enjoying yourself (he also takes photos of you at any roadside attraction you stop at)
Spy- out of all the Mercs, Spy probably doesn’t like road trips that much. He thinks they’re phony and don’t live up to his defined pallet (yeah right. Nevertheless, he will join you on a road trip. That doesn’t stop him from comparing everything you see to “better” things he’s seen.

Do you have any songs for the TF2 Mercs? Sort've like their theme or just songs when you listen you think of them?
Sorry this took a bit, I needed to find some good songs! I'm such a huge fan of music (I don't really want a career in making it or anything, I just really like it!) So I'm gonna give each character 5 songs each, but seeing as I'm not as in-tune with a few of them… this was a bit hard to put together, but I think I’m fairly happy with the results!
Engineer: Cabinet Man - Lemon Demon : That's Okay - The Hush Sound : Me and Bobby McGee - Janis Joplin : Rooster - Alice in Chains : Old Town Road - Lil Nas X. The first song is a bit out of place, but I like to think Engie is just a lil’ more in love with his work than most folk. Other than that song, I tried choosing a few softer songs as well as country ones, or just ones that reminded me of him. I hope you’ll like them!
Demoman: The Beer - Kimya Dawson : High Hopes - Panic! At The Disco : Gasoline - Halsey : Amsterdam - Imagine Dragons : Hey, Asshole - Watsky. I’m not as knowledgeable of Demo’s lore, but from what I’ve read, I really like him, and I think he could relate with a few more depressing songs, while still wanting to blast some happy tunes! A lot of contrast with these songs, but I think they fit Demo well!
Soldier: Popopo - Steampianist : Burn - Admiral Fallow : The Weight of Us - Sanders Bohlke : The House That Heaven Built - Japandroids : This is War - Thirty Seconds to Mars. A lot of war related songs, as well as just songs about wanting to be greater than you are, even when it’s hard. That’s the sort of vibe I get from Soldier- you know, other than being Feral- and I tried to incorporate those things into this mini playlist!
Medic: Touch-Tone Telephone - Lemon Demon : Control - Halsey : Lent - Autoheart : When You're Evil - Voltaire : Handlebars - Flobot. I like to call Medic’s mini playlist “I’m Feral and I Don’t Care How You Feel About it!” All in all, very dramatic and vicious playlist, but let’s be real, that pretty much sums up Medic as a whole.
Heavy: Kids - MGMT : Idioteque - Radiohead : Zombie - The Cranberries : Your Best American Girl - Mitski : Work Song - Hozier : The Call - Regina Spektor. I struggled a lot with Heavy’s playlist, as I have a bit of trouble trying to get who he is as a character, but at the end of the day, I think he cares deeply for his family and teammates, and would enjoy songs about working hard, trying to fit in, and tragic childhoods.
Pyro: Little Game - Benny : Billions of Eyes - Lady Lamb and the Beekeeper : Edge of Town - Middle Kids : Elevator Operator - Courtney Barnett. Very happy go lucky playlist for the most part, with a pinch of LGBT undertones from the first song. I dunno, I just want Pyro to be happy!
Sniper: Why Am I Like This? - Orla Gartland : Johnny Boy - Twenty One Pilots : Future Me Hates Me - The Beths : Lemon Boy - Cavetown : Fill in the Blank - Car Seat Headrest. Oof ouch, the bushman be depressed and honestly I feel that on an emotional level. Lots of sad songs, but with a hint of Sniper wanting to feel better and work hard!
Spy: Pigeon - Cavetown : Not the Ghost - The Crane Wives : Problems - Mother Mother : When I'm Gone - Eminem : Tarifa - Sharon Van Etten. Now we’re in the big leagues (aka why I made this 5 for each and not just 3); I get the feeling that Spy is rather self-destructive, at least when it comes to forming relationships, and I tried to convey that through my song choices, as well as songs about wanting to be there for someone *cough* his son *cough*.
Scout: Devil Town V3 - Cavetown : peacefall - Purity Ring : Hey, Ma - Bon Iver : Squealing Pigs - Admiral Fallow : Little Lion Man - Mumford & Sons. As usual when answering Scout questions, I project, but hey, I think this time it’s pretty valid! Most of the themes for Scout’s playlist are about growing up, and the unwillingness to, as well as dealing with frustration and homesickness.
BONUS Miss Pauling: Help - Pink Guy : Pristine - Snail Mail : Don't Let's Start - They Might Be Giants : Today Today - Jack Stauber : Girls Like Girls - Hayley Kiyoko. Gay rights (I think it’s canon that she’s a lesbian??? Man I gotta read the fucking comics). Bit of depression paired with women being badass af in this playlist!
BONUS The Administrator: Oh No! - Marina and the Diamonds : Matilda - alt-J : Big God - Florence and the Machine : Stairway to Heaven - Led Zeppelin : Army of Me - Björk. I may as well have asked the Administrator to step on me with this playlist; lot’s of selfishness and a longing for power for her songs!
BONUS Scout's Mom: My Mom - Kimya Dawson : Fast Car - Tracy Chapman : Your Ex-Lover Is Dead - Stars : I Will Wait - Mumford & Sons : 1985 - Bowling For Soup. Gosh, I miss my mom... anyways, I think Scout’s mom is a good mama, and even though I also think she’s been through a lot, she still loves her kid and husband, even if they’re far from home at the moment!
I went a bit overboard, didn’t I? Oh well, this was very fun to do, so thank you so much for the ask!

Moro releases new folk rock single 'Wanderin’'
Tumblr media
The singer-songwriter of folk music known as Moro has released his latest official single, “Wanderin’.” The single has been proudly published as an independent release without the involvement of the corporate music industry on the Budwick Music Co. record label. Warm, adventurous, and bearing classically trilled vocals of the rarest quality, “Wanderin’” proves that Moro still ranks among the world's most genuine folk musicians.
Asked to cite some main artistic influences, Bodega Bay, Calif.'s Moro blazes his own trail, as usual.
“There’s not enough room here for a properly representative list,” he writes. “I’ll just list my guitar, the sound of the ocean surf, gulls, wind, silence, and the letting in of Love.” Moro's own sound takes natural elements from each of these on “Wanderin'” and adds his own sonic vision for a result that blends classic '60s pop and folk with an undeniable lo-fi sound which will appeal to fans of a broad variety of music. As it happens, this vision seems more important to Moro's creative process than the input of any other person or musician – anyone maybe but his friend, 77-year-old Native American and Carmel resident Red Eagle.
“Red Eagle told me when I was seven,” Moro says, “that if I pretend my playing sounds like it does in my heart, where millions of heavenly musicians are playing my tunes, then one day it will.”
In addition to Moro's own considerable talents, “Wanderin'” also features work by friends, most notably singer, songwriter and pianist Van Dyke Parks, best known for his '67 LP, “Song Cycle,” and lyrics contributed to the Beach Boys' “Smile” record.
“After singing 'Wanderin’' for the group and seeing Van Dyke was groping for what to do, I sat with him and hummed his notes,” says Moro. “As I’d hoped, he liked them, practiced them for a few moments, and we had a run-through during which he really got into the notes, building them to a climax at the end.  Inspired, he produced a long felt strip from his pocket and gently tucked it between the strings of the baby grand piano he was working with. We did another run-through, and it was boffo. Van Dyke had scored big time with that simple felt strip and created the perfect sound for my song. We rolled tape, recorded the tune, and all were inspired by the playback.”
Asked to describe the overall meaning of “Wanderin’,” Moro writes, “The meanings, themes and inspirations in 'Wanderin’' are exactly the same as they are in all my work – particularly in my purely instrumental guitar work – outpourings of joy in gratitude for the hallowed days of freedom I was given during my troubadour years – outpourings that continue to this day. My wealth is all in happy golden memories of all the good times I have had in fifty countries, as the song says.”
Originally billed as Buddy Bohn, Moro has been writing and recording popular music since before the release of his first album, “Buddy Bohn, Folksinger,” in 1962. Since that time he has garnered global fame traveling under the Troubador's Code: performing in exchange for basic needs like food and housing, which code he took to heart while still a teenager. He has played for kings and queens, actors and artists as well as cooks, smugglers, and American troops stationed in Laos. During his travels he also recorded three albums on three different labels and on three separate continents. His international hit “Vermouth Rondo” helped him build his home and recording studio in Bodega Bay, California, where he continues to record. For 22 consecutive years, the popularity of his music has earned him recognition from the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP) for consistent play of his compositions. “It’s a big help to see how beautiful the world looks and feels when we remember that no matter where we go, Love is there,” writes Moro. “This has been a huge help during my troubadour travels, particularly during my performance tour of Upcountry Thailand in 1962 when there were Viet Cong snipers lurking around the perimeters of my concerts. Hope you enjoy this new video of my new single, 'Wanderin’.'”
“Wanderin’” by Moro on the Budwick Music Co. label is available from over 600 quality digital music stores online worldwide now. Get in early, folk music fans.
