I almost never use titles as file names unless the inspiration was from something specific like a song (or in the very very rare case I know what I want it to be right away). Of these titles, I will definitely finish...five. Maybe six if I can figure out the ending. The rest I'll keep endlessly poking at until they eventually get moved to the Archive folder, never to be seen again. 😂 Honestly looking at this I see three right off the bat I should move there right now.

I fell behind on my mag-a-day relisten because of spring break and passover and now it feels like I can't catch up 😩 but I know that's actually just in my head, I'll catch up once I'm back to the routine of kids at school, gym commute time, etc.

In any case I still feel like I'm in some kinda fandom lull, because I wanted to get super into TMA but it felt like the fandom itself generally isn't a good fit for me, personally? like the fic being written is largely not the category of fic I am interested in to the degree that I got annoyed reading it and basically stopped, and then I diluted my enjoyment by too many Q&A/behind the scenes things, and knowing too much about the actors makes the characters less real to me somehow, idk.

Anyway idk why this post is some kind of general fandom life update but here's what's going on lately:

really what I need to do is read the book series a friend wrote that I'm 100% certain I will be obsessed with once I start them but I'm somehow mentally blocked from starting

I was rewatching The X Files for a while which was fun!

but then I got distracted by catching up on the seasons of Supernatural I never really watched and now I've been binge watching it

at one point I thought about writing some spn fic but then I realized it would really be a fic used to work out my own issues about being basically a closeted bisexual and I was like you know what, I think perhaps that level of projection plus spn might be a little too cringe even for me! so I didn't write it

my kids have this game called No Thank You Evil which is basically kids' D&D, and I ran a couple campaigns for them with it, and today my kid was like "I want to make up the story myself!" so she's running one for me and my other kid now! my knowledge of how to do any of this is extremely limited so we're all feeling our way around but in any case today we disabled a T-Rex robot and nearly got eaten by an ant. My character is a robot named Fifi with a companion robot dragon. (My other kid is a spy with her actual name with an invisible unicorn-pegasus as a companion! The one running the game is usually a kid named Lucky who has an invisible friend.)

JB Smutswap Recs

So, before the big author reveal of the @jb-smut-swap, I thought I’d rec a dozen of my personal favourites--ones I adored, or feel were overlooked, or a combination thereof. Dirty confession: I am a few fics shy of completion in my reading, and I saved some I knew would wreck me for the end. So chalk any egregious gaps up to that. 😂

crosslines, the scratches and stains--This is my gift fic so I’m BIASED, but I’mma rec it anyway. Sex bruises! Partners who can laugh! Jaime “The Diver” Lannister with his chin soaked after some A+ oral! It’s got great images AND a great JB dynamic of partners who like to push each others’ buttons.

Binary Explosive--holy shit, established relationship competence kink danger fucking? This fic went for the throat faster than a mosquito on a muggy summer night. 

Hush--Landscape porn. Emotional porn. Porn porn. There are elements of this that have seared themselves onto my soul and I have no choice but to live with it forever. A very sincere Fuck You to the author. They know what they did.

Jaime’s Game--Soft, soft bondage and caretaking. I’m needier than Jaime in this fic when that’s on the table, sorry. 

I'll never let you go (if you promise not to fade away)--Probably not the threesome people expected me to rec (my weakness for JAB is well documented, but I’ve not actually gotten there on my reading yet), but this one captured me with its worldbuilding and complex and interesting Cersei. It’s so easy to make her the villain of the piece, one dimensional and cruel, and the author managed to infuse her with sharp edges and such yearning that I fell hard and fast for the story. 

Clothes (un)Make the Man--Look, I am a simple creature: I see clothes swapping, I go feral. Whatever. I’m too old to feel guilty about this. 

with those who know secret things-- I’m willing to bet real money I’ve already recced this author on this list, but I cannot let such a loving, tender story go uncommented upon. It has so many things that make me weak--well-handled sex work, touch starvation, tenderness. Have I said tender enough already? Because it’s really fucking tender.

Thrust Exercises--Affection and strip sparring and just such a genuine connection and agency in an arranged marriage fic? Slay me like one of your Tarth girls. 

want your heart to beat for me--I say this with all the love in my heart, but this is a classic trope for a REASON and this went and gave me feelings. I mean, all the fics did. But when compiling this list I went “Which is the one that does [redacted trope moment]?” and this was the answer

Nights Avoiding Things Unholy--I have never been so thirsty for dick in my life, the tension in this is fucking lethal. 

we used to wait--I adore the non-linear use of time, the glimpses of their jobs, the sense of a tightrope act of balance as they circle around each other. Just fantastic tension. And pool sex. *chef’s kiss*

what is dark in me illumine--No. I mean, obviously yes, it’s on the list. But no.
