 Warnings: None

 You’d thought the night at the club was an indicator of the level of partying that would happen on this tour - but you’d been wrong.

 The crew did enjoy a good time, but the last few nights had been much more low-key, especially as the almost-constant traveling began. Three shows after the first, you’d been in four cities in a week, and fatigue had begun to set in.

 No one was more tired than Shawn. He began to show signs of a cold, although he tried to hide them. You felt bad for him - when you were tired, you could go back to the hotel and crash early. But Shawn was the center of gravity of the crew. He was constantly surrounded, and he didn’t seem willing to ask for a break.

 Behind the scenes, you’d been supplying over-the-counter cold medicine and any remedies you thought might help. In Oslo while you were out picking up a few things for Shawn at Andrew’s request, the window display of a department store caught your eye.

 You went into the store to take a closer look at the display of beautiful scarves laid out on a table. You ran your hand over the rainbow of choices, amazed by how soft the fabric was beneath your fingertips. You pulled one from the table, a lush charcoal gray, and looped it around your neck. The fabric was softer than anything you’d ever touched, and you felt warm and cozy with it wrapped around you. On a whim, you picked up two more - black and a navy the color of the night sky - and took them to the register.

  Shawn wasn’t much of a scarf-wearer, so he was surprised to find a charcoal gray scarf laid out on his bed when he returned to the hotel after sound check to get a couple of hours rest before the next show got under way. He picked it up to move it off the bed so he could lay down, and was surprised at how unbelievably soft the fabric was against his skin. He laid the scarf across his pillow and fell asleep with his cheek pressed against it.

 A few short hours later, Shawn was sitting atop a box in front of a group of lucky fans for one of his favorite parts of the show: the Q&A.

 He loved getting to interact with them, and answered all of the questions they had.

 The telltale signs of Shawn’s impending illness must have been apparent because one sweet fan asked if he was taking care of himself.

 “Do I remember to take care of myself? “he repeated. “I do,” Shawn smiled, picking up the scarf, “that’s why I have this scarf.”

 You beamed with pride; you took your work very seriously, and were thrilled to hear, straight from your client’s mouth, that he appreciated your efforts.

 You allowed yourself, only for the briefest moment, to imagine that it was your arms wrapped around Shawn’s neck.
