doodle your favorite demon :0
I have too many ‘favorite demons’ to choose (Amanozako, Norn, Fionn mac Cumhaill, Kushinada-Hime, Bai Suzhen, and way too many more..) but i’ve been on an smt angels kick as of late. So I just drew Virtue
#smt#virtue#vinnigami doodles#shio’s mailbox#the smt designs arent like super accurate or anything but they’re very fun#i looove how they make them robots/robotic at a certain point (melchizidek sandalphon and metatron)#jumped for joy at DeSu Cherubim being in SMTVV#i love how smt4 portrays them as almost not even sentient just shells carrying out the lords will#like the tormentor is just an antivirus program. that’s all it is. i love it#smt is about computers being incomprehensible and the angels being incomprehensibly mechanical is just soooo fun#i have a normal amount of thoughts about smt angels ^-^

Talk about the new Persona 3 Reload models or I'll egg your house!
So these are new in the sense that they hadn't yet received HD models, or were imported/updated from SH2 etc.? I no longer keep up with who appears in what, so it's getting harder to follow.
Anyway, I guess they're fine! I think the sort of flat, faux-cel shading adapted for P5/P3R generally looks good. The stiff, monotonous detailing on 'Helel's wings reminds me of like, one of the angel Digimon. Also a missed opportunity to update Wu Kong/Take-Mikazuchi's models to their DS counterparts. Omoikane looks very handsome.
why are virtue and sati serving cunt now. 'fire transparent png' image search looking ass fire

MAE BODYGUARD JAMES IS SUCH A GOOD IDEA OML
maybe one where the reader burns herself (totally not projecting) but you did say Halloween stuff so many bodyguard James take reader Halloween costume shopping? I'm thinking she goes in smt skimpy and we get protective jamie?
anyways i hadnt thought any of that out I came running when you said bodyguard so hope that strikes some inspiration and thank you so much!!
Thank you for your request lovely!!
cw: alcohol mention
bodyguard!James x fem!reader ♡ 462 words
“You are not making my job any easier, babe.” James glares at a Jack Sparrow getting too close to you. The guy changes course.
You laugh. “What, I’m keeping things interesting for you! I thought you were getting bored.”
James had said that. You can hunker down better than anyone he knows, even Remus, and he was getting worried about how much time you spent at home. If he knew you to be anything less than the sweetheart you are, he’d almost suspect you made your Halloween plans specifically to force him to eat his words.
The downtown is pandemonium. Colorful costumes and drunken revelers and a cacophony of musics pouring out from different doorways. It’s chaotic enough that James half expects to spot Sirius somewhere in the crowd, dragging a begrudging Remus into a nightclub. People get bolder with masks and booze, and you—whether they know who you are or not—make a perfect target.
You’re dressed like an angel from the devil’s fantasies, white lingerie and lacy thigh-highs and a cute pair of wings strapped to your back. It should take all the virtue out of the look, but there’s still an aura of sweetness about you, captured in the apples of your cheeks and the cute, curious way you look at the scene around you. James calls you angel more often than his supervisor would likely approve of, and tonight everyone can see how well it suits.
“I think there’s probably a middle ground,” says James, taking your elbow to tug you gently away from a clown stumbling into your path, “between spending all day in your room and this.”
You turn towards him. James’ hand moves to the small of your back instinctively, bringing you closer to him and away from the crowd. Your white makeup shimmers, making your eyes look big and sparkly as you gaze up at him.
“We can go home if you want to,” you say in a quiet, private voice. “I don’t want to stress you out.”
James looks at you. Elysian and hopeful, your cheap halo listing to one side. A girl like you deserves to be flirted with. James knows he’s a massive cockblock (and he’s not going to pretend to feel bad about that), but he can follow you wherever you want to go and buy you drinks and turn threatening looks on anyone who comes too close to you if it means you’ll have a good time.
He straightens your halo for you. “Where do you want to go first?”
You beam. “Really?”
“Really.” James gives your shoulder a fond squeeze, and with his other hand halts a cowboy who’s trying to come up to you. The guy holds up his hands, backing off. “But you’ll have to stay close.”

Out of the scale of 1 to 10 which version/interpretations of angels look horrifying or majestic?
1. Bayonetta Angels
2. Evangelion Angels
3. Diablo Angels
4. Legion Angels
5. Classic Bible Accurate Angels
6. Angelerium Angels
8. DOOM angels
7. Ultrakill Angels
8. The Woodsprite and Death from Guillermo Del Toro's Pinnochio
9. Dark Souls Angels
10. Shin Megamei Tensei Angels
anon i'm afraid i'm unfamiliar with like, 70% of these. so i can't "rate" them other than based on their looks. instead of a scale of 1 to 10 you're getting my thoughts on their designs as i am notoriously bad at Ranking Things. and some babbling overall. enjoy
starting off with Bayonetta angels. Holy shit. the range.... monster-looking ones? humanoids? ships??? cars????? the flesh inside those gold and marble shells??? love them, quite horrifying and majestic at once.
Evangelion! cool stuff. always love some strange organic shapes for angels, and the very geometric ones are pretty interesting as well
Diablo. i like the tendril-like wings. the lack of a visible face is pretty cool as well..
i... i'm assuming you're talking about the 2010 movie "Legion". no comment on this one.
i'm not really sure what "Classic Bible Accurate Angels" would entail. if you're pedantic enough, you can argue that the cherubim and ophanim in Ezekiel's vision aren't exactly "angels" in the literal sense of the word. malakim/messengers/angels could appear as pretty much human. either way, the celestial being category is quite fascinating
my jaw dropped when i saw the Angelarium website. the designs?? the drawings themselves???? the writing as well. obsessed with this???? hello....... Definitely quite majestic
DOOM. huh. that's a pretty interesting looking alien behind that armor. i'm assuming the angel comparison works in the game's context
ULTRAKILL! yay! Gabriel and the Council's armor are pretty cool, and i like the virtues too (their concept art is so good!!!). hope we get to see more angels in the future.
ahhhhg they're both so cool. love how Death is a sphynx. i can't tell if they're exactly supposed to be angels (saw the Woodsprite called a "fairy" somewhere?), but the motifs are so good regardless
Dark Souls. ojh wow. i think these are the most disturbing on this list, i love them. taking organic shapes to another level.... they remind me of mycelia.... huge win for horrifying angel nation
i wasn't really sure what to focus on with Shin Megami Tensei. the angel enemy itself (poor thing went through a lot, design wise)? the divine demon class as a whole (a... lot of characters to look at)? so i went with the archangels. their SMT IV versions are great, the ornate and quite organic-looking shapes put them on the majestic end of the spectrum for me

Dante - Day 151
Race: Fiend Occupation: Devil Hunter Alignment: Neutral, with the Devil May Cry Agency January 13th, 2025
Okay, okay, this might seem stupid, but... I wanted to cover Dante for today for one reason, and one reason alone. A joke that only made sense in my head. 151 is the amount of Pokemon there are in Gen 1, right? And people say that SMT is just demonic Pokemon, so why not cover a crossover demon from SMT for the Pokemon number? Yeah, it only worked in my head. Still! Dante! While the fact that it's DMC Dante is just a victim of a stupid bit, Dante is an incredibly interesting figure to dig into, historically speaking- he's far more than just the silly, pizza eating devil hunter that Devil May Cry fans are familiar with. I'm not gonna be talking about his appearance in DMC, as that's not really the purpose of this blog (though I do fully recommend the DMC games, they're fucking fantastic,) but I do want to talk about the man from whom Dante got his name: Dante Alighieri.
Dante Alighieri was a complicated man, to say the least. Born to a rather modest Italian family in 1265, much of his life is recorded in his poetry, as he was an avid author and poet. Betrothed and set to marry someone- a girl named Gemma Donati- at the ripe age of 12, Dante was unfortunately in love with someone completely opposite, Beatrice Portinari. While this might seem like the setup for a romance book where they get together at the end in spite of their parent's protests, Dante instead spent his time pining over Beatrice and writing poems to her, frequent sonnets contained in the text Vita Nuova. What this is relevant to might seem strained on the surface, but Vita Nuova actually also serves as an important insight to Dante and his thought process- what led him to writing his most important work, and what'll make up the majority of this analysis: The Divine Comedy.
The jokes about the Divine Comedy being a piece of Bible fanfiction aren't... inaccurate, but it's doing a slight disservice to the work to proclaim it as just that when it really does expand on biblical study and serve as a fantastic piece of literature in-and-of itself. It's an honest to god masterpiece, and the reputation it's built up is well deserved. Split up into three works- Inferno, Purgatorio, and Paradiso- the multi-part series of poems goes into depth about the layers of Hell, Purgatory, and Heaven, as well as their roles and purposes in the grander scheme of things. Driven and shown around by his mentor and main inspiration, the Roman poet Virgil, Dante walks through and experiences a heavily layered metaphor of the consequences of sins and the prizes of virtues, with Virgil serving as the voice of reason throughout.
I can't get too in depth with the work, because I've only read bits and pieces and this is more of a summary, if anything, but Dante's Inferno is where a lot of the conceptions of hell even come from- each layer being based on a deadly sin is a commonly recurring motif throughout much of literature that talks about hell, as well as the idea of the layers themselves. Shit, the layers of hell in ULTRAKILL are literally just the layers of hell in Inferno! Still, the separation of Hell, Purgatory, and Heaven into layers is given a lot of weight, and while I do laugh at the fact that he kinda just put the people he doesn't like in hell and the people he does like in Heaven, the work overall serves as a multilayered metaphor for... a lot. It's incredibly complicated. Dante himself seemed to take inspiration from his own suffering and exile for the work, and it shows in how it develops and he uses it to understand his own issues- as it goes on and the comedy moves from part to part, the prose grows more beautiful and as Dante moves from Hell to Heaven, it begins to paint a picture of hope.
So, why was this guy chosen as the namesake of everyone(I think)'s favorite cocky devil hunter? I... don't know! It's probably due to the fact that Inferno is by far the most popular and influential work in the Divine Comedy, and it goes into depth about hell, demons, and devils, everything that Dante deals with on a daily basis. I personally haven't gotten very far into the DMC series (I'm only just starting 3) but from what I can tell, a lot of the literature themes seem to tie together in the whole family tree of Dante, Vergil, and later Nero. Many of the character's names are taken from poetry, after all. So, yeah. Not much else to talk about here, other than the fact that DMC is pretty coool. Also this blog is now featuring Dante from the Devil May Cry series.

RANT RANT RANT
man, people are gonna start accusing kaneko for shit even though that cryptostuff was unfortunately seen as "normal" in JP art circles?
even yoshitaka amano, ito junji and many others gets roped into that. Even I know a super union-activist ones like nishii terumi (of part 4 jojo anime fame) endorsed nftstuff which was surprising. And there's also others that hates AI but is ok with nftstuff
people are acting like kaneko did some human rights violation or he dropped a space colony on australia, it's bizarre (not to mention double standard-y)
not to mention there's these cringe doi/soejima stans who'd say "common kaneko L" or nitpick on his mistakes just so they could elevate their fave artists, but ironically will call persona/modern smt art as "sex1st loli coded doi designs and generic soejima waifu" on the back.
Like stop virtue signalling for YHVH's sake and just call him mid directly
*of course I do not endorse this sort of practice but at the same time it's fuckin overblown and overly dramatic. They're so desperate to get brownie points online by roasting an artist who didn't emerge for 6 years, gets his demon art censored abroad (p5x) and his art changed (SJR). Overrated my ass.
At least amano still works on modern FF when kaneko gets shelved for years

btw i had a few asks about "hey wat u gonna play next" and that's still a ways off but here are my thoughts
MegaTen Options:
Digital Devil Saga (post-apocalyptic cyberpunk hinduism, okay)
Shin Megami Tensei IV (I played about 25 hours of it, loved it, then dropped it, am still interested)
SMT Strange Journey Redux (for the Vibe)
Persona 2 Duology (I have played a bit and I don't think it'll make a good liveblog is my problem, will prob play it on my own)
SMT Soul Hackers (supposed to be one of the more fun ones)
SMT III Nocturne (it's supposed to be the best one)
Non-Atlus Options:
AI: The Somnium Files (Fucking Weirdass Shit from the writer of The Nonary Games, so it should be fun but might be gruesome)
The Caligula Effect 2 (apparently 1 is trash but 2 hits some of the Persona vibes)
Yakuza Kiwami (like Persona 2 idk if it makes a good liveblog. i bet Like A Dragon does tho)
a Danganronpa? I know nothing about these actually, i couldn't tell you anything about any of them with a gun to my head
Dramatical Murder
13 Sentinels (is this on fucking PC yet, what the fuck is taking so goddamn long, THIS IS THE ONE IF IT WOULD JUST COME TO FUCKING PC) (I might literally try running it in Yuzu)
i have considered just left-turning into otome/datesim games but i have such lofty standards for writing quality bc i'm a fucking snob so idk what to even try. i still wish I didn't hate the art style of Ladykiller In A Bind.
speaking of the Nonary Games, maybe I should restart Virtue's Last Reward, that game was fucking BATSHIT
what makes a good liveblog i think:
character-driven
dense and/or weird story
gameplay-to-story ratio is weighted towards story
i would say romanceable characters but of the three games i played i only romanced someone in one of them lol i'm stubborn
i really like the Persona/Bioware trope where you can work on relationships with specific characters
recs welcome

'ello :]
2, 4, 27 for ask game?
2. Is it easier to draw someone facing left or right (or forward even)
Definitely left for me! And surprisingly enough facing forward isn't that hard either but right?? Eugh eugh eugh (giving the dirtiest look at Vi’s haircut that's an additional pain in the ass to draw from the non shaved side)
4. Fav character/subject that's a bitch to draw
Funnily enough, I had a really hard time drawing Caitlyn when I first got into Arcane. Her facial features were just really hard to get just right for me but oh well if there's a blorbo there's perseverance
But as far as more broad subjects go, environments are kind of a pain but gosh do I love drawing a good background. Tho tbf it's also in virtue of the fact that I don't draw a lot of bgs sooo....
27. Do you warm up before getting to the good stuff? If so, what is it you draw to warm up with
Look. Listen. You're supposed to do warm-up sketches to get yourself into that drawing mood or whatnot so pls don't use me as a role model here because I absolutely don't do that. I just know myself and if I start sketching something before the actual drawing I mean to do I'll either end up putting too much energy into that or get annoyed that I'm not getting to the good shit and drop it.
But! On the rare occasion that I leave a drawing unfinished in the lineart stage I do something quick like a sketchy dog head or smt to get that flow into my lines so they're nice and smooth.

Metaphor ReFantazio thoughts
I finished it a few days ago. I didn't post about it because I wasn't in the mood.
I really liked the ending sequence - it's either my favourite or 2nd favourite ending for a game released this year (competing with Persona 3 Reload).
It also had a lot of twists that I didn't expect - often back-to-back.
More spoiler-y stuff:
Even though it takes far more inspiration from Persona that mainline SMT, I like that it still had one notable SMT thing - there was a clear Law Faction (Forden and the Sanctist Church), a clear Chaos Faction (Louis & co.) and a clear neutral faction (yourself). It also had the turn system of modern SMT games, which I think I prefer to modern Persona. To a lesser extent, the main cast being of various ages from various walks of life - akin to SMT4 Apocalypse - instead of all of one being teenagers was nice for the sake of diversity.
The fact that no member of the main cast was primarily comic relief felt like a breath of fresh air.
When you're virtues are maxed out, any extra points in them giving Magla instead of just wasting a bit of time is also really nice. I hope future Persona games incorporate this somehow.
My story predictions almost always ended up false. I can't remember many examples, but I sort-of got close with one - I predicted that Basilio would sacrifice himself and then Fideleo would join the team, but it was the other way round. In hindsight I think that's better because Basilio would've had very little character development otherwise, while Fideleo already had quite a lot.
A gameplay thing I found questionable though: why does unlocking Heismay's Royal Archetype require far more effort than anyone elses? The full requirements are: - Ninja rank 20, Tycoon rank 15, Dragoon rank 15, Sniper rank 20, Seeker rank 10, Thief rank 20, Assassin rank 20, Gunner rank 20, Commander rank 10, Merchant rank 20, Magic Knight rank 10, Mage rank 10, Knight rank 20. Investment in thirteen total Archetypes for a total of 210 levels. Comparatively, Eupha's Royal Archetype requires: - Devil Summoner rank 20, Summoner rank 20, Seeker rank 20, Magic Seeker rank 20, Soul Hacker rank 20. Investment in 5 total Archetypes for a total of 100 levels.
And finally, an oddity with Trophy numbers: As of writing, only 6.7% of players have gotten the Sword Surfer trophy, which I find weird as I got it quite early and it's easy to do - I thought everyone would've gotten it by the mid-game but I guess most players either didn't use it for some reason or just fast traveled everywhere. In comparison, 10.3% of players have mastered every archetype with the Protagonist and 13.5% of players have done every quest which are much harder to do.

Decarabia - Day 21
Race: Fallen
Alignment: Neutral-Chaos
April 18th, 2024
The greatest demonic compendium, the Ars Goetia, holds many strange demons, but one sticks out to many as the most peculiar; the sentient pentagram, and our demon of the day, Decarabia. An iconic design in the series, this demonic starfish has appeared in many SMT games, almost always as a fallen race demon, yet his role in the goetic grimoire is... bizarre, to say the least.
Decarabia is the 69th (nice? sorry, i just had to.) demon listed in the grimoire, and his description gives way to him being incredibly bizarre. Described as a pentagram star when first summoned, this Marquis of Hell's purpose is effectively as a treasurer and jeweler, providing his summoner with the ability to understand the value of any gems and gold in their possession when presented to the demon. As the lesser key of Solomon puts it,
"He appeareth in the Form of a Star in a Pentacle, ⭐, at first, but after, at the command of the Exorcist, he putteth on the image of a man. His office is to discover the Virtues of Birds and Precious Stones."
But what's that about birds? Well, I have no idea! Next to his ability to appraise gold, Decarabia provides his summoner with the ability to commune with birds, as well as being able to conjure a bird familiar to do one's bidding. Decarabia is strange, even by the standards of the grimoire, with his reign being defined mostly by a control over things that could either be done by a human, or are mostly useless!
However, I do have to admit, I respect the hustle. As the sixty-ninth demon in the grimoire, it's quite clear that Solomon was likely running out of good demons to summon, given that it finishes at 72 (Joke shamefully stolen from Tony4You.) Decarabia's entire existence is bizarre to me, yet also fascinating, a Marquis of Hell whose entire domain is based around things that most people could already do, or would have next-to-no interest in.
In SMT, though, this misfet marquis is given some much needed love- his design, a demonic starfish with an eye in the center, is about as good a design they could get given how vague most descriptions in the Ars Goetia are, and is iconic in its own right- you show even a casual Persona fan this star pentacle and they'll recognize him right away. Of note, of course, is his appearance in SMT III, wherein he's found in the city of Ginza waiting for the arrival of his best bud Forneus, who you murdered earlier that week. I gotta wonder if he ever found out about the untimely fate of his friend.
Overall, in spite of his domain being small and nigh-useless, this misfit starfish has won many an SMT fan's heart, and I'm no different. Decarabia my beloved.
#shin megami tensei#megaten#smt#persona#daily#decarabia#ars goetia#the tony4you influence is really rubbing off lmao#the goetia is insane to read through but decarabia was short and sweet#still#couldn't his job had been done by like.#any gem appraiser??
