Ta Phrom Temple.
Temple Tour with Eric De Vries . http://photocambodia.net Awake at 3:10am, oh well. Listened to Romana Koval being interviewed on Australian ABC radio. I discovered the cause of the problem with the camera and fixed it. In the process, I rediscovered several functions that I was completely unaware of as well! Reflecting on how the travel experience is affecting me. I'm even more on my own than when I am at home. If something needs a solution, I must be on to it straight away and work it out. Don't be that horse. You know, the one tied up to the blue plastic chair. How true it is that everyone is dealing with a story I know nothing about.

Waleed Ali on Social Media
Nina Hamilton shared this quote from the Weekend Australian recently:
"I object to social media on the grounds that it is not an adjunct to social interaction but a displacement of richer forms of social interaction and therefore, an impoverishment of the social elements of our lives. It has a nasty habit of transforming the minutiae of our lives into performance so that we end up existing in a kind of perpetual public space where we are constantly performing our identities and our public politics and out senses of self for other people to acknowledge and then approve or disapprove." [Waleed Ali, in Lyons, J. 2016, 'Screen Test', The Weekend Australian Magazine, 23-24 April, p. 16]
Interesting thoughts for our unit!
Nina’s photos are lovely. Check out her site: http://www.ninahamiltonphotography.com/

Cutting down my hundreds of photos taken for project 2 has been quite a task. Firstly I got rid of the ‘failed’ photos - too much light, composition not great, blurred subjects or photos that did not quite fit my decided brief.
With a combination of self-reflection and discussion with family and friends I got it down to 33 photos as shown on the contact sheets a few posts ago.
From there I really got harsh and narrowed down the photos that really just showed the organic movement of outdoors and indoors and their natural connection. Finally I made it to 7 photos.
The photos above are the last 4 that did not make the final selection. Why?
The first photo, I felt lacked a little bit on composition compared to a similar one that made the final. The second photo, the chooks this photo showed the chooks in their yard but actually the chooks spent most of their time our of the yard and around the house, their favourite spot being right next to the front door or inside if they could get away with it. The third photo, some unusual flowers in the garden. The tropical flowers in the garden really took my eye as they were so different to what I am able to grow in Tasmania, but this photo did not have enough interest to bring it back to the theme of indoor/outdoor. The last photo showing Rin the dog running up the front path to meet me was hard to cut as I really liked the way it showed the thick lush garden and the way the animals interacted with it, but I felt the other final 7 photos met the brief just that little bit more.
I would say cutting down the photos to the last 7 was the biggest learning curve for me, I had to be quite ‘tough’ with myself to get there.
