DP with BS: Chapter One (Evanna’s P.O.V)

I walked up to the window porch and stared out of the foggy window. It was cold outside and foggy, The two-leg shoos me away from the porch, I get off and lick my paw. The porch was kind of dusty, so I spat out the dust, it tasted disgusting. I awaited at the couch, I have overheard that my house-folk will invite someone over, I wondered if it was Cobalt’s owner. Cobalt is my friend that I met when my father had wanted to meet the two cats to the next five doors, he oddly looks wolfish.

It turned out to be three cats. My mother plopped onto the couch as me, “Your friends coming, huh?”, I nodded, She said “Do you ever think of him as a mate?”. I look at her “Mom!”, She looks at me “You need to carry the bloodline on, right?!”, I nodded “Yeah, but not him!”. A black tom comes in “Hey fellas”, I greet him “Hi Jet! Please excuse us”, Then mother meows “Huh, Jet! She should consider a mate now right?”. Jet was instantly confused “Uh, She is young so, maybe two more moons?”.

Mother laughs, I say “Where’s Seto, Jet?”, Jet’s ear perked up “Uh well, um”, mother says “Ah, Your father’s looking for someone?”. Jet shrugged and answered, “Kinda”. Jet then asks her a question “Oh um Mocha, Do you know where’s Seiko?”, Mother says “No, Seiko’s been more out recently. Jet and Seiko are siblings, Jet is calmer than Seiko, Seiko’s more extroverted. I then hear the doorbell, I look at the door and see another two-leg with a cat in it’s arms.

Cobalt. She puts him down and walks away with the house-folk. Cobalt looks around and walks to the wall, Jet just looks at his weird behavior. I say “Hey Cobalt”, Cobalt says “Oh hi”. I plop off of the couch and we touch noses. Jet says “Have you noticed anything?”, Cobalt looks around and says “Well, I saw something different at the entrance”.

I say, “We moved Cobalt”, Cobalt says “Oh, Well that explains a lot”. I say “Well, come on, We’ll show you our room”, We all walk inside and see Dad, sleeping on top of the tower. Mother meows “Jaiver, wake up, it’s late”, Dad grumbles but stands up “Oh hi Mocha”, he jumps down to greet us but falls face first. I snicker but mother glares at me. Cobalt nears dad helps him up, Dad then yawns “Oh, Sorry, I sleep late, Hello Cobalt”.

Cobalt says “Hi Jaiver”, Dad pushes him off by the tail, “I can get up myself, don’t baby me”. Cobalt nods and Dad gets up from the rough fall. He says “Okay, um, Welcome to our room”, Cobalt says “We know, you guys are very lucky to have your own room”. I say “Oh that’s nothing compared to yours”, He says “I live in a garage, the monsters are this close to killing me or Sebastian”. Sebastian is one of the cats that live with Cobalt, He’s very grumpy and a bit violent.

I go on top of one of the cushions and say “We usually sleep here but go outside often”, Cobalt says “Isn’t the outside a bit dangerous, I mean there’s a bit of badgers and wolves”. We live on the mountains so it’s a bit risky, Jet then adds “Then those savage clan cats, eugh”, I say “They’re not savage!”. Clan cats are the cats who don’t live here in houses like us. They have a bad reputation with us. Jet argued “Sure they aren’t! Even though they’ve killed one of us here!”.

Jet was talking about Baron, Baron was a long haired tom and loved to walk upon the grounds of the clan cats. One day he went and never came back, We concluded that Baron was killed by the clan cats, it wasn’t never proven. I said “We never knew what happen to him, He could be still alive”. Jet said “It’s been so long, I don’t think he’s alive”, Mother says “Okay done! Don’t argue please”. Jet lowered down “Sorry Mocha”, I said “Yeah sorry”, Cobalt says “Anyways, We should go outside to feel the breeze, Cool down a bit”.

Jet nodded “Okay fox”, Jet loves to call me fox because of my pelt being fox like, actions as well. I was irritated by the name in my younger ages but had gotten used to it by now. Cobalt had the same treatment but in a insulting way. That’s usually why he’s so..weird and insecure all the time, Anyways, we walk outside and it’s cold as heck, I shivered but Cobalt seemed fine with the current weather. We go over a fence at the back, Jet says “Isn’t this too cold for us?!”, Dad laughs “Nothing’s too cold for the great Jaiver!”.

Mom laughs “Oh, Your father is always like that, Even when we met, He yelled ‘Don’t worry Mocha! I’ll save you from the monster that’s coming’, That’s why he can’t stay still for five seconds!”. Dad says “And that’s why you talk a lot!”, Mom laughs “I can agree on that”. We then walk and catch some mice. We share upon fresh-kill, Jet shares a sparrow with me. Cobalt noses through a skinny mouse while my parents eat a plump pigeon.

It started to get dark, the foggy air turning more visible but the wind colder. My parents had went inside in the house and me, Cobalt, and Jet were outside. Jet sighed “It seemed like only yesterday since we’ve met huh?”. I nodded “God it’s been like ten moons since we’ve met”. Cobalt said “Remember when I fell onto the snow”.

We laughed “Oh that was funny!”, Jet goes down and says “C’mon, we should look around”, I nod and trek the forest. Cobalt looked around and said “Are you sure this is safe?”, I say “Yeah! I mean if Baron can walk here, We can”, Jet said “Baron died”. I said “Well I say that yes, Yes it is”. We walk and hear some weird noises, like rustles. We stopped, Cobalt kept moving, he stopped “Wait, Why did we-”, Jet rasped “Shut it!”.

We stood quietly at the grass, the wind invading the sound. We lowered into the bushes, Jet staying out of the crowd in the snow. But then a second after a flash a blonde cat attacked Jet. Jet yelped, The blonde cat pushed him to the ground, pushing her paw against his throat and said “What are you guys doing here at Snowclan territory!”. Jet said “I’m not doing anything wrong, hckk”, Then I went out and pushed the blonde cat aside, making Jet able to breathe.

She then tries to claw my cheek but I dodge the move and run past her. Then another cat, this time a ginger tom attacked Cobalt, Jet gets up and runs to my side, the blonde cat attacks me by grabbing me in the neck. Jet pushes her off, Cobalt gets up and claws the ginger tom’s cheek, deep. Then a voice yells “Enough!”, We all stop to look up. It was a black she-cat with gray spots, she says “Tigerpaw! Redpaw! What do you think you’re doing?”. Tigerpaw stuttered, smothering the clawmark Cobalt gave him “W-Well, They’re trespassing our territory a-and we thought we’ll show them what we’re-”.

The she-cat yelled “You ran from your mentor! If Rowanstar were to see you here, I’ll bet you he’ll put you cleaning the elder’s ticks for a whole moon!”. Tigerpaw cringed “No, no, no, Please don’t do that”, She then looks at the blonde she-cat “You, Redpaw, Why did you come here?”. Redpaw glances over at us, Cobalt already in the bushes, “I thought I saw Fangkit”. The she-cat sighed “Look, Redpaw, Fangkit is dead, He died when your father went missing”. Redpaw argued “He’s still out there, Smokeash! He’s not dead”.

Smokeash then looks at us “And what are you doing here, Kittypets?”, Jet stuttered “Um uh hm”, I say “Well we were just minding our own business and blam, We’re attacked”. Smokeash said “I sensed another one here, Come out!”. Cobalt slowly comes out, Redpaw says “Look, It’s Fangkit!”, Smokeash rasped “Quiet! Who are you?”. Cobalt sighed “My name is Cobalt”, Smokeash says “Cobalt? You do look like Fangkit”. Redpaw says “It is Fangkit, Smokeash!”.

Smokeash said “Look Redpaw, Go back to the camp. I’ll deal with these three”. The two nodded and left Smokeash to deal with them. Then another cat came out of the bushes. The black tom was sleek and grinned “Looks like we’re gonna have to eat the bones off of these kittypets!”. Smokeash frowned “Echovoice this isn’t the time or the place”.

Echovoice frowns “Well, We’ll see when Fossilbite comes”. Then a gray tom with white splotches comes in and says “Okay, Okay, What’s going on here”. Echovoice says “It seems like these kittypets want to stir up some trouble”. I frown, Fossilbite says “What’s your name?”. I clear my throat, “My name is Evanna, The black tom is Jet and the gray one is Cobalt”.

Fossilbite nods “Well we have a offer to deliver”. Echovoice asked “Wait wh-”, Fossilbite shushes the tom with his tail”. Fossilbite continued “We invite you to our clan, Our clan seems to have less warriors and we need more to survive”. Smokeash’s eyes widened “Wait, What about-”, Fossilbite interrupted “We’ll discuss it with Rowanstar later”. Echovoice bit his lip, “We can’t do that, They’re kitty-”.

Fossilbite said “They’re still cats, It’s almost no difference”. Fossilbite meowed “Well, Tomorrow we associate and talk”, They then left. Jet said “Oookay then, Let’s go home”. We all nodded and left with him. I thought about what the tom said and sighed “Guys, Maybe we should go?”. Jet’s eyes widened “What?! Are you crazy! They’re murders!”.

Cobalt stayed quiet, I said “I mean, we would be together, work together, We would have a life”. Jet chuckled “Wow, WOW, You’re seriously crazy! We have a life here”. I looked at Cobalt and said “What about you, Cobalt?”. Cobalt sighed “I agree with Evanna-”, Jet hissed “You guys must have birds for brains!”. Cobalt said “I think I’ve seen that cat before”.

I asked “What cat?”, Cobalt said “Redpaw, And how they called me Fangkit, I’ve heard that name before but I don’t know where”. Jet’s eyes widened “Crap”, We looked at him. Jet said “Cobalt, I think you’re one of them”. I said “We have to go, I’m going where Cobalt’s going”. Jet stopped and said “ You guys are crazy, We can’t go”. We got back home and Cobalt headed back home. I couldn’t sleep that night, I needed to go.

I woke up that morning and went to my parents, Mom was sitting there, grieving. I walked up to her, “Mom, What’s wrong?”. Mother said “It’s Jet, He’s gone”, My ears went up, “What do you mean gone?!”. “Jet’s gone the the forest, They’ll kill him!”. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing, He was gone already! I said “Mother, I’m going with him”.

She put her head on my chest, “No! I don’t want to lose you too!”. I nudge her “I’ll protect myself and him, Don’t worry”. She took her head out and said “Y’know you're just like your father”. I smiled, She sighed “Well we parents must let go at some point of our lives”. She smiled “Make me proud Evanna, Sly Fox!”.

I smiled and touched her nose, I said “Bye, Mother”. She smiled and said “Now go on!”, I smiled “Good-bye”. She looked at me and dipped her head, “Wait!”, She bit my collar and it was now loose. She pressed it down and said “Now”. I dipped my head in pleasure and ran off the door.

That day I felt like another cat, I looked back but I lunged forward off the gates and was off to freedom. I ran like no other cat could, I found a black tom, I called out “Jet?”, He let out a meow, It was him, I ran to catch up with him. Jet ran and then Cobalt had came, He didn’t leave the scarf. Cobalt breathed “Well then Evanna, Let’s do this”. I reassured him “Cobalt, It’s not Evanna, It’s Fox”.
