Ok, I’m declaring this my Day 7 for LGBTQ+ week and I’m done, even though I didn’t finish all of them. This one took a lot out of me and it’s time for a break, though it may be the first in a series of gay people on couches eating chips, since it was inspired by this era where something as innocuous as that is so controversial. This was actually one of my other ideas for the Future prompt in Rare Pair Week that I didn’t have time to do then, so it got moved to this event, and included Pride Demon shirts as a result. Keep fighting even if it’s no longer Pride Month.

SM LGBTQ+ Week 2023!

The second annual Sailor Moon LGBTQ+ Week takes place the week of June 18-24, 2023 (during Pride Month).

You may post your works on Tumblr, AO3, Deviantart, or anywhere you choose so as long as you link them in your Tumblr posts if they are off-site. All ratings are allowed, so long as NSFW work is properly tagged. You can add your AO3 works on our designated category for the event here: smlgbtqweek2023. We also have a Twitter for the event you can tag and we will retweet your works there too!

Submissions should have an LGBTQ+ character, ship or topic at their core along with the daily theme. It doesn't have to focus on or even include a ship, given this week also celebrates asexuality and trans identities! M/F pairings are allowed as long as one of the characters is LGBTQ+ and the work references their queerness. Bi/pan people in m/f relationships are still queer and valid. This also applies to trans people in straight relationships. Basically, as long as you're writing/ drawing/creating something featuring LGBTQ+ character(s), you're golden.

“Morning Moon, Evening Sun“. My contribution for Day 1 of @smlgbtqweek2023!

The first scene is meant to take place during the first episode of Sailor Stars (Naru and Umino were slightly offscreen you see, the camera was zoomed up behind Usagi looking at the sun), while the second is one of the possible futures many years later in the time of Crystal Tokyo (now in their 20s). For anyone keeping track of my ramblings thus far, the whole “Copper Squirrel” situation from my previous art would take place a few episodes later during Sailor Stars. Ideally, my story project is going to have branching relationship options, including this rarer couple <3 But if I only complete one outcome, my favorite involves a lot of polyamorous relationships developing: Usagi x Mamoru, but also sometimes Mamoru x Fiore, Usagi x Rei, and Usagi x Naru, while Naru’s primary relationships would be Naru x Umino and Naru x Nephrite, in my big dream polyamory situation XD It’s a little complicated but I’ve thought it through I swear ^^’ But basically I’m a big multishipper, what can I say. Hopefully it would make more sense with a completed story to show how they all got to that point.Also a lot of stuff would happen in between before they settled down and talked through all those complicated feelings. Also... I do understand people who feel Naru and Usagi would probably only be platonic friends- that’s been my default assumption for years, but then a friend got me to thinking about it a bit more, and.... well, here we are. I think it could be cute and dramatic! This is another reason I want my project to have branching relationship options if I manage to finish the full thing XD I won’t be getting a piece done for every day of LGBTQ week, but I hope to have a couple more- including a piece about a certain pair of “rivals”...

This is for the “no kink at Pride” people because “think of the children”. It’s too late, kink is everywhere. You have worn kink inspired fashion, seen kink influence all over pop culture, and grew up with kids’ media that had kink innuendo moments—and most likely you didn’t understand it, were not traumatized, and had a laugh about it when it hit you as an adult. Kink has been watered down, commercialized, repackaged for mainstream consumption, and now people want to exclude LGBTQ+ kinksters from the event (protest!) that they helped create. It’s homophobic, knock it off.
