It's not as if the patriarchal power structure is only bad for the Earth and women. It's equally destructive to men. People are saying men have to be careful now. They don't have to be "careful." Just don't abuse women! You shouldn't have done it anyway.

Ryan Murphy has amassed a roster of names befitting the title of his latest Netflix project, Hollywood.
In addition to those cast members previously announced — Darren Criss (American Crime Story) as Raymond, David Corenswet (The Politician) as Jack, Jeremy Pope as Archie and Patti LuPone (Pose) as Avis — the following have also been confirmed as series regulars: Jim Parsons (The Big Bang Theory) as talent agent Henry Willson, Dylan McDermott (American Horror Story) as Ernie, Joe Mantello (The Normal Heart) as Dick, Holland Taylor (Two and a Half Men) as Ellen Kincaid, Samara Weaving (SMILF) as Claire, Maude Apatow (Euphoria) as Henrietta, Jake Picking (Chasing Life) as Rock Hudson and Laura Harrier (One Life to Live) as Camille.
Described by Murphy as “a love letter to the Golden Age of Tinseltown,” the period drama will cover “several narratives from 1940s Hollywood.”

Ryan Murphy’s debut Netflix series is beginning to take shape.
Hollywood, which Murphy co-created with his Glee, Scream Queens and The Politiciancollaborator Ian Brennan, will release in May as the prolific showrunner’s first original series under a mega-deal with the streaming giant. (Netflix's Politician, now streaming, was Murphy’s first streaming show but was produced by 20th Century Fox TV).
When revealing the limited series, the American Crime Story and American Horror Story showrunner said Hollywood will “look at Hollywood and the sex industry, and how absolutely everything has changed and nothing has changed.”
Below, The Hollywood Reporter rounds up all the news about Hollywood. Bookmark this page for updating developments.
The Premise
The period drama received a straight-to-series order at Netflix. Few details about the series are known, aside from that Murphy has called it a “love letter to the Golden Age of Tinseltown.” When announcing his casting, leading man Darren Criss described Murphy’s pitch about the series as “a period piece that was young and optimistic” and said it would cover multiple narratives from 1940s Hollywood.
“It’s 1940s Hollywood, so there’s going to be great clothes and great accents. It’s going to be sexy and optimistic. It’s really about young people and the excitement of young people seeking opportunity,” star David Corenswet teased to The Hollywood Reporter.
The Cast
Criss (another Glee alum, as well as the star of The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story) will star in and executive produce Hollywood. “I’m heading back to the House of Murphy where I’ll be starring in but also executive producing HOLLYWOOD with Time’s King of Television,” Criss wrote on Instagram when announcing the news. “Late last year, @mrrpmurphy and I had dinner where he shared that he wanted to do a period piece that was young and optimistic. We landed on the idea of a series covering several narratives from 1940s Hollywood. We both left that evening feeling super excited about its potential. Two days later Netflix bought it. Not only is that a testament to the magic of Ryan Murphy, it’s a reminder of the kind of thing that can only happen in Hollywood…literally. Limited Series coming to @netflix May 2020.”
Also starring and executive producing is The Politician’s Corenswet, who rounds out the leading roles with Tony-nominated Broadway star Jeremy Pope. Of Murphy elevating him to an EP role, Corenswet told THR, “Ryan wants to include us in the creative process. He wants to give us learning experiences. I am really interested in making film and television. As an EP on Hollywood, I’m not making any big decisions but I’m getting to watch a lot of these big decisions be made by all these extremely competent and successful people. So just to be able to watch that is such a great learning experience. It means that, at some point, I’ll actually be helpful to somebody in some way.”
Other familiar Murphy players — Jim Parsons and Joe Mantello (The Normal Heart), Dylan McDermott (American Horror Story, The Politician) and Patti LuPone (Pose, AHS) — as well as newcomers Samara Weaving (SMILF), Maude Apatow (Euphoria), Laura Harrier (BlacKkKlansman) Jake Picking (Blockers) and Holland Taylor (partner to frequent Murphy collaborator Sarah Paulson) make up the star-studded ensemble.
Only the character names have been revealed: Criss as Raymond, Corenswet as Jack, Pope as Archie, LuPone as Avis, McDermott as Ernie, Weaving as Claire, Parsons as Henry Wilson, Apatow as Henrietta, Mantello as Dick, Harrier as Camille, Taylor as Ellen Kincaid and Picking as actor Rock Hudson.
The Premiere Date
Hollywood will hit Netflix in May. Though it will be the second Murphy series on the streamer, it is the first original since Murphy moved his overall deal from longtime home 20th Century Fox TV to Netflix in early 2018. Hollywood joins Ben Platt-starrer The Politician and the forthcoming One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nestprequel Ratched, starring Paulson, as Murphy’s first group of Netflix offerings (Ratched, which does not have a premiere date, was also produced under Murphy’s 20th Century Fox Television pact). Also in the works for the streamer are musical film versions of The Boys in the Band and The Prom, a 10-episode A Chorus Line miniseries, a limited drama about Halston starring Ewan McGregor and a 10-part docuseries about Andy Warhol. Murphy still produces Pose, American Horror Story, American Crime Story, 911 and 911: Lone Star for the now Disney-owned TV studio.

And Hollywood is just one of several Murphy projects currently in the works at Netflix. His Ben Platt-led dark comedy The Politician dropped today; he recently revealed that he cast Ewan McGregor to play iconic fashion designer Halston in a yet-untitled series; and Ratched, a One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest prequel starring Sarah Paulson as Nurse Ratched, has already received a two-season order. He’s also bringing us filmed versions of recent Broadway hits The Boys in the Band and The Prom — the latter of which boasts a cast that includes Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman and Ariana Grande.

The 2019 Silver Garbage Award Nominations
The reboot of Magnum P.I. leads all programs with 12 nominations, including Worst Drama Series, Worst New Series of the Year, Worst Remake or Spin-Off, and Worst Actor in a Drama Series.  The cancelled Showtime comedy SMILF leads all comedies with 11 nominations, including Worst Comedy Series and Actress for Frankie Shaw, whose allegations of misconduct on the set led to the show’s demise in March after its second season. Shaw has five of the nominations for SMILF, as she was also Executive Producer, and a writer and director of SMILF.
Not far behind are the sixth and final film of the Sharknado series and the failed revival of 1990s sitcom Murphy Brown, which both netted ten nominations each.
Among the acting nominees for the Silver Garbage Awards, which celebrates the worst of the past television season include R. Kelly, Lori Loughlin, and Felicity Huffman, who all have made headlines in recent months for their respective legal issues.  Even former White House Press Secretary Anthony Scaramucci is nominated for Worst Special Class Supporting Actor for his week long stint last Winter on Celebrity Big Brother.
The winners will be posted on Saturday September 21, the eve of the 71st Annual Primetime Emmy Awards telecast on Fox.

MIGUEL GOMEZ GIF PACK
In the gif pack you’ll find roughly 101 gifs of the handsome Miguel Gomez from Smilf season 1 episode 1-3 (only half of episode 1). Gomez is an actor hip-hop artist. Known for his roles in The Strain and in Southpaw. Ethnically, he is of Colmbian descent, so please cast him accordingly. The gifs are all small/medium, textless, and as hq as I could get. There should be no repeats, any were completely accidental. I made all of these gifs so credit to me and please if you decide to steal them or edit them in some way, although I’d like to say don’t do it (but some of y’all won’t listen) at least please give me some sort of credit. Please like or reblog if you plan on using. Notice: Some of the gifs at the end are timed weird, episode one was competely crap. Thank you! 1/?

Showtime’s 2018 Emmy FYC mailer introduces voters to red-hot contenders ‘The Chi,’ ‘SMILF,’ ‘Twin Peaks’ and more
Showtime’s expansive 2018 Emmy FYC mailer will soon be arriving on the doorsteps of the TV Academy membership. While the premium network previously shipped three series-specific mailers back in April for drama series “The Chi,” comedy series “SMILF” and limited series “Twin Peaks,” they’ve now sent out a fourth mailer featuring all of their eligible Emmy submissions. See photos above and below.
Tumblr media
“Twin Peaks” originally aired on ABC for two seasons between 1990 and 1991, earning 18 Emmy nominations including Best Drama Series, Best Drama Actor (Kyle MacLachlan) and Best Drama Directing (David Lynch). It won two trophies in 1990: Best Editing and Best Costumes.
With Lynch once again at the helm, MacLachlan’s FBI Agent Dale Cooper and almost all of the quirky characters returned for the highly anticipated continuation. All 18 episodes of “Twin Peaks: The Return” aired last year, so Showtime is hoping the show will be remembered at the Emmys come voting time.

“SMILF” is Showtime’s freshman comedy series that centers on Bridgette Bird (Frankie Shaw), a young single mother and actress. As Shaw revealed in our recent interview, she based the show on her own experiences, admitting that she initially wrote the pilot because she was “sick of being a broke, struggling actress with a toddler.”
The show was recently nominated at the Golden Globes for Best TV Comedy Series and Best TV Comedy Actress. Other notable cast members include Rosie O’Donnell as Bridgette’s eccentric mother and Miguel Gomez as the father of Bridgette’s son.

“The Chi” is an ensemble drama that examines life on the Southside of Chicago. Creator Lena Waithe (watch our interview) made Emmy history last year by becoming the first black woman to win Best Comedy Writing for “Master of None.” Can she now add more trophies to her shelf for “The Chi”?
Jason Mitchell stars as Brandon Johnson, an aspiring chef whose younger brother (Jahking Guillory) is killed by a man (Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine) avenging the death of his surrogate son. Rick Famuyiwa directed the pilot episode of the show that aired on Showtime earlier this year.
