The Hidden Smells in Your Home And How to Get Rid of Them for Good | Elder Mode
youtube
Have you ever opened the door and been hit by a weird scent you just couldn't identify? Perhaps you've cleaned, sprayed, and freshened everything up — but that stinky smell remains. The reality is that as we grow older, our sense of smell diminishes, making it more difficult to perceive the very scents our guests pick up on immediately. Here in this video, we expose the secret — and sometimes comical — origins of home smells that tend to evade seniors but are all too present to everybody else.

I have sensory issues and no sense of smell… I try my best but that combination makes it really challenging. I care about feedback from people that actually have to deal with me on a regular basis like my family and friends, but like I am trying my best and if you’re only going to be dealing with it for a few minutes then… it might be useful information in certain situations but a lot of times people are just extremely mean about and I’ve never gotten actually useful advice from someone I didn’t already know well and rarely from even those I do because it’s not something I like randomly talking about… honestly I don’t like talking to strangers even in the best of times let alone when they’re complaining in the most unhelpful possible way about something that I have almost no idea how to deal with and not even trying to tell me how to do better. But I guess I don’t really have a frame of reference for how bad it is so I’m sorry. But honestly that sorry should be mostly reserved for the people I care about and who have to deal with it for more than a few minutes.
some ppl get so mad when ppl tell them to not be mean to strangers. you see long posts like ‘its not ableist to correct bad hygine’ ok maybe its not. whatever. but its also not your moral obligation to tell someone you barely know how greasy their hair is. like the likelyhood they know is pretty large, you can just say. nothing.

i wonder if the term "smellblind" is ableist, or if people in the blind community take offense to it. admittedly it only is in my vocabulary because i watched the movie Walk Hard about a hundred and fourteen times

What kind of scents do the cast like to use on themselves? (like, what kind of soaps and shampoos do they use?)
What scents do they find attractive on other people?
I'm so sorry anon but I am basically smellblind nowadays and most of the characters can not bathe so I don't think most of them use shampoo.
Favourite scents tho? Hypothetically?
Doc: One of those manly campfire candles
Yasmin: Bubblegum lip smacker
Yvette: Cardamom
KC: Caramel
Levi: Lilac

Am I the only one who goes smell blind in here? I usually only buy stuff during the semi annual sale but I only really notice the first couple. Then my nose gets overwhelmed but there is still more on sale. So I have to blindly trust that sultry summer dreams or sparkle sunset memories is gonna be good because they have a ferris wheel at night with fireworks going off on the label. Also is smell blind the real term? Like from Dewey Cox? #bathandbodyworks #smellblind #noseblind #fragrant #shopping https://www.instagram.com/p/CQW8pwkrevA/?utm_medium=tumblr

How Anosmia, or 'Smell Blindness,' Can Help Pinpoint COVID-19
Tumblr media
Have you ever been sick and attempted to take comfort in your favorite foods, before realizing the sad truth: There's no point, because you can't taste them? Same goes with smell — you might not even be congested, but sometimes a sickness can just render you unable to smell even perfume right out of the bottle. This condition is called anosmia — otherwise known as "smell blindness" — and doctors think it might be a key to diagnosing the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in people who aren't displaying other symptoms. Since the COVID-19 outbreak began, a lot has been made of the fever and dry cough, the headaches and muscle aches associated with the illness. But as more cases crop up, one thing doctors all over the world — not to mention the Covid-stricken citizens of the Twitterverse — have noticed is that this coronavirus completely obliterates many patients' sense of smell, even if they aren't experiencing other symptoms. According to the New York Times, of 2,000 patients testing positive for coronavirus in South Korea, a third reported anosmia, whereas German doctors have communicated that, out of a group of 100 coronavirus patients, a full two-thirds of them experienced anosmia. Anosmia (and its close associate ageusia, the complete loss of the tongue's ability to taste, and dysgeusia, the distortion of the sense of taste) is a common symptom in upper respiratory viruses. First, how can you do a musical in a comic book? Second, hella agree about Jurassic World. I want to build a time machine so I can see that movie sooner.
First, YOU FIND A WAY.
Second, I actually don't plan on seeing it, unless it gets good reviews. I've just never been a big Jurassic fan.

Do you think there might be a comic continuation of Korra once season 4 is over? Or do you think they are gonna do a definitive ending to the whole thing?
i really want to them do a comic continuation but something tells me they won't :'(

I'm back my lovelies. First time tabling at a convention by myself was an exciting, nerve wracking and tiring experience but I had a lot of fun too and gained a bit of confidence along the way. I met so many wonderful and kind people during Florida Supercon, everyone was so nice, engaging and encouraging. I'm actually looking forward to my next con. A HUGE thank you to my dearest friends @necroneko13 , @smellblind and @luniara who helped out and encouraged me a lot this weekend. I couldn't have done it without you. I love you a million sweedish fish, to the moon and back.

Since Lion King was (sort of) an adaptation of Hamlet, what other Shakespeare plays could you see be Disneyfied? I would like to see something like Twelfth Night given a Disney twist.
Well, it's certainly an interesting idea. But I'm not the best person to ask, to be honest - I know very little about Shakespeare's works. Even with a 'translated for today' version I often just find his plays difficult to follow.
But I can say with all certainty that I wouldn't be opposed to more Disney+Shakespeare combinations. TLK and it's sequel were great, and the mouseworks short based on "A Midsummer Night's Dream" is equally adorable and hilarious. (I once managed to use it in a college essay. Lived the dream!)

Giants is loosely based on "Jack and the Beanstalk" and will be directed by Nathan Greno (co-director of Tangled) but that is all that is known right now. Also, there was rumor that there was going to be an adaptation of "The King of the Elves" by Phillip K. Dick where a guy finds elves near an old gas station he works at.
I've never read "The King of the Elves", but that sounds like a very intriguing and amusing plot! I might have to ask for the book for Christmas.
As for Giants one, it reminds me of the cartoon where Mickey and also did the classic fairy-tale, so I'm curious if they'll do any homages to the classic short. At the same time, it makes me wonder if they'll do this story from the Giants point of view! That would be new! I'll be looking forward to both films!

Which of the following upcoming Disney animated movies are you looking forward too the most? Zootopia, Moana or Giants?
I know nothing about Giants save for the title, so I'll put that in number three. number two is Zootopia, which looks amusing, and I enjoy a good furry animal story.
But Moana is number one. WE NEED MORE POC PRINCESSES, AND MORE STORIES NOT AMERICA/EUROPEAN CENTERED. I AM LEGIT EXCITED FOR THE SCENERY, THE STORY, THE CHARACTERS, EVERYTHIIIIING I WANT IT NOWWWW
