G20 Weekend - 2010
First photo is a mural that was done later to show the police presence from that weekend ! 👮 - by Unknown
Pretty much everyone i knew left town. But i thought I would stay and have a nice quiet weekend ! I still regret not leaving Toronto that weekend. It was traumatic.
I went for a walk and got stuck between a large group of protestors and a large group of police. I managed to zig and they all zagged !
All weekend you could just hear the sound of the overhead black helicopters. It was like a bad movie.
Later a bunch of protestors walked down Yonge St and smashed all the windows of businesses that I would usually go 2. The plywood was around for a long while. It made everything even more depressing..
All these years later.. I don't know why they have these things. They don't make any sense. Oh.. and if they have one where you live.. take my advice and GTFO !

Every anarchist should carry a glass bottle around, so that when someone complains about "violent protests" during the likes of g8, G20 or literally anything else, they can suddenly smash it on the nearest surface and ask "was this violent to you?".
Because no it's not. Nobody was hurt, nobody was in danger and nobody even planned to hurt anyone. Sure, it might've been surprising, scary even, but you did was to break some glass in order to make a point. And it is, as such, no different than what's happening when protesters break the windows of a bank or those of a multinational corporation.
#anarchism#anarchist#g20#eat the rich#protests#There is no such thing as a “violent” protester#There's only the victims of an unjust political and economical system that they neither signed for nor can escape#And that's the people that will kill in order to protect the power they got trough said system.

Plan the Best Travel Vacation to Hamburg
Most tours to Germany include Hamburg, Munich, and perhaps the Black Forest or a trip along the Rhine. We’re sure that there are even more grounds to stop by, visit now and discover your own. when it comes to planning your German tourist destinations, however, this eclectic, industrial city needs to be added to everyone’s German bucket list
1. HafenCity
Encompassing the Speicherstadt, HafenCity is a brand new waterside area that turned into made professional in 2008.
Think smooth workplace blocks, rental complexes, and enjoyment amenities, all designed with actual panache and sensitivity for his or her waterfront location.
So a long way from the principal sight to peer is the Elbphilharmonie live performance hall, which merits its entry.
2. Port of Hamburg tour
Don't expect to see nature on these boat tours; instead, learn about what makes Germany's largest port tick.
The Port of Hamburg is a bustling sea superhighway with 9,000 ship calls per year
nearly 300 berths, and 27 miles of the wharf for seagoing vessels or Book Flight ticket on Tap air Portugal.
A barge tour, such as the Maritime Circle line, will bring you closer to the container ship action. Put another way, you could escape the confines of land with a floating techno party on the Love Boat. If speed is your thing, try RIB Piraten, the only speedboat operator permitted inside Hamburg book online flight on Book Tap Portugal.
On the final stretch of this tour, you'll reach top speeds on a rigid inflatable boat that skims the waves at 60 miles per hour.
3. St. Michael’s Church
St. Michael's Church is among the greatest things to do in Hamburg. The church was constructed in the Baroque style in the 1750s. It provides a stunning view over the city that is truly a feast for the eyes. In conclusion, you will undoubtedly have a nice day when visiting this church.
The best attractions in Hamburg
Strandperle
Just because you live in the city does not preclude you from visiting the beach. Strandperle is a fixture along Hamburg's sandy stretch of the Elbe river, which is popular with sunbathers and swimmers during the summer. Strandperle is a favorite hangout for locals and tourists alike, with a large deck of tables, chairs, and umbrellas, a bar, a kitchen, and the harbor in the background.
Open all day Friday through Sunday, you can stop in for a beer and a burger, catch up with cocktails and friends, or rent out the 'upper deck' for an intimate dinner party and fly with Tap air Portugal.
Jenischpark
Jenischpark has an English country feel to it, with its rolling green acres, woodland paths, and stately Jenisch House. The oldest landscaped park in Hamburg, it's a popular spot for summer picnics, but it's also a lovely place to visit all year, especially at dusk or dawn, when the sturdy oak trees become silhouettes against the setting sun.
Jenisch House, formerly the country residence of a wealthy Hamburg merchant, is now a museum specializing in Northern German art and culture, particularly of the nineteenth century, with a ground floor of original Empire and Biedermeier furnishings.
For those who prefer the twentieth century, the low-rise Ernst Barlach Museum down the slope is a tranquil modernist enclave showcasing the work of sculptor Ernst Barlach.
Schanzenviertel
Schanzenviertel, the traditional beating heart of Hamburg counter-culture and site of the much-publicized violent protests during the G20 summit, clings tenaciously to its alternative credentials. In reality, despite the smashed-up stores of summer 2017, the neighborhood is defined by third-wave coffee shops and vintage lamp stores rather than anarchic dissent hubs check tap airlines .
High-consuming hipsters and media professionals have long moved into the "Schanze," pricing out the anarchists and students who gave the district its interest and edge. Only the run-down Rote Flora, a former neighborhood theatre (now a long-contested squat and cultural space), remains a true center of activism and protest.
Nonetheless, Schanzenviertel remains a lively and charismatic district, with a thriving bar scene and several restaurants.
Fischmarkt
Depending on how late you slept the night before or whether you went to bed at all, a visit to the Sunday Fischmarkt is a legendary Hamburg experience. Since 1703, it's been doing brisk, fishy business, with raucous criers promising all the bargains and bawdy banter you could want.
Of course, there's plenty of fish—smoked, fresh, pickled—as well as flowers, fruit, vegetables, secondhand food, and even livestock. The adjacent Fischauktionshalle promises to keep the party going with beer and live rock bands for the tired Reeperbahn reveler and get your flight on Tap Portugal.
There are numerous cafés nearby for those seeking a more restorative breakfast. The Fischmarkt opens at 5 a.m. in the summer, 7 a.m. in the winter, and closes at 9:30 a.m. all year.
7 Hamburg Nightlife Experiences
1. Grosse Freiheit 36
The most well-known location for enjoying Hamburg's best nightlife is here. You will only hear about Grosse Freiheit 36 if you walk about asking people where they think is the best location to have a fantastic night in Hamburg. It is a live music venue that receives a number of visitors each night and is situated on the city's busiest boulevard, Reeperbahn. The Beatles also played here and check Flight to Hamburg!
2. Rote Flora
Various artistic inventories are housed in this theatre. So, if you're someone who wants to see some major and significant things happen late at night, this is the spot for you. Squatters have lived there for a very long time. Bring your crew of creatives here to enjoy the nightlife, meet new people, make art, and have a fun evening!
3. Herzblut
Make a good night's start! This is the ideal fusion of an opulent restaurant, bar, and club. Jordan Mozer's perfect interior design will astound you, but the outstanding dinner will quench your desire for foreign cuisine. You can head to the dance floor for some extra fun when you've finished the dishes and the specialty cocktail. The finest place to go for nightlife in Hamburg with a significant other or family is here.
4. Docks
Do you want to know why Metallica referred to this as the best freaking club in the entire world? Well, Docks used to be a very well-liked movie theatre. Later, it evolved into a club with seating for around 1500 music fans. The DJ here has seen live performances by David Bowie and more and plays all of your favorite music.
The fact that Docks is the center of the most well-known Reeperbahn festival is another major reason you must visit on TAP Flight Booking !
5 Alster Arcades
The Alster Arcades, Hamburg's premier shopping district, is situated along the city's numerous canals and bridges; the only distinction is that it has high-end and exquisite stores rather than streetwear. While strolling beneath the stars and taking in the smells of delicious food coming from across the street, you can peruse the chic jewelry or the cutting-edge fashion accessories available here. Small cafes on one side of the street and a few musicians nearby give the shopping experience here a hint of the Mediterranean.
6. Neuer Wall
Neuer Wall, a kilometer-long promenade, is the most opulent location to blow your savings.
This European luxury shopping boulevard has everything to captivate your eye and win your heart, from haute couture and the best jewels to personalized footwear and designer bags.
It's not unusual to see names like Armani, Jil Sander, Mulberry, Michael Kors, Prada, and Louis Vuitton here. If you're looking for mementos specifically, Neuer Wall's own Brahmfeld & Gutruf carries some of the most captivating jewelry designs. Oh, and don't forget to go across the street to Café Engelchen for your much-needed coffee fix in between and you can book flight on tap book flight.
7. Europa Passage
Do you prefer acquiring the finest jewelry from across the world or shoes? Regardless of which, the Europe Passage is one of Hamburg's best retail centers and a must-stop!
It provides guests with an all-inclusive entertainment center and has more than 100 stores under its roof.

Anarchist Wallpaper #3 October 2017: Sabotage the Surveillance State! Let’s All be Perpetrators! (Netherlands)
17.10.17: Here is the third edition of the Anarchist Wallpaper! This time on surveillance, the dragnet law and the necessity of sabotage. Download the wallpaper, print and circulate it! Download the wallpaper: here
Sabotage the surveillance state! Let’s all be perpetrators.
On surveillance, the dragnet law and the necessity of sabotage.
You are being watched; on the street, at the train station, on social media, through your phone calls and e-mail correspondence. The state and its collaborators desire total control, whether you’ve ‘done something’ or not, everyone is a suspect. As per the 1st of January 2018 the intelligence agencies will be granted new powers. They are permitted to expand their information collecting beyond specific suspects and so implement mass surveillance. In the eyes of the state everyone is a suspect. So let us all be perpetrators and accomplices!
Last June the First Chamber approved the so called ‘dragnet law’. This law gives intelligence agencies more powers than they already had. They will be able to monitor and store digital data on a massive scale. They will also be able to hack all automated devices such as phones, laptops and tablets without a person being a ‘suspect’. A secret DNA database can be created to store anyone’s DNA, again without being ‘suspected’ of having done something. All stored data can be shared with foreign intelligence agencies without prior analysis by the domestic intelligence agencies.
The dragnet law is a big step for the state towards total control and fits in the recent trend of repression such as forced identification, camera surveillance and preventive stop and searches by the police. The new law, like others in recent years, is enforced with the excuse of security risks and the growing need to protect citizens from terrorism. The actual implementation of this law can be found in poorer neighbourhoods, and will be used against people who do not conform to the white status quo. In poor neighbourhoods like the Schilderswijk in The Hague camera surveillance, stop and searches by the police and intimidation are rampant. The information collected by new state methods will be used against people who resist this harassment. A growingly repressive state does not ensure less terror attacks, quite the opposite. A repressive state ensures exclusion and protects only those who claim to have financial interests; government institutions, big companies and powerful institutions. The rest of us are considered a constant threat and to be constant suspects while we are chased, controlled and humiliated. The mechanisms of state control seem to be untouchable, but nothing is further from the truth. Every system has its weaknesses and every system is susceptible to sabotage.
A control mechanism developed and created to protect a system that only protects the interests of capitalist institutions is a direct attack on us. And an attack on us cannot remain unanswered. Let’s take down the cameras on street corners that form the eyes of the state. Let’s burn the cables and power supplies of the servers and computers that monitor and store our information. Let’s attack the companies who make their profits through this control mania. Let’s sabotage the state so we can live. If we are all suspects, let’s all be perpetrators!
Freedom for Peike!
During the G20-protest last July in Hamburg thousands of people took to the street to protest the meeting of the leaders of the 20 most industrialised nations. The protests encountered heavy police repression that started a riot. The German state seized this opportunity to attack and criminalise autonomous structures.
The German news website Indymedia Linksunten has been banned. More than 100 people were arrested under whom Peike from Amsterdam. Peike was the first to go on trial and was sentenced to 2 years and 7 months imprisonment for allegedly throwing two beer bottles at police officers. The prosecution demanded 1 year and 7 months, the judge made it 2 years and 7 months. Peike is momentarily imprisoned in Hamburg. Freedom for Peike and all the prisoners! Statement by business people and shop owners of the Hamburg district Schanzenviertel,
We, some business people and shop owners of the Hamburg district Schanzenviertel, in view of the reports and the public discourse are compelled to describe our view of the riots over the course of the G20 summit.
In the night of 7 July to 8 July 2017 a crowd raged for hours in the street, looted some shops, in many others the windows were broken, burning barricades were erected and clashes with the police happened.
It is difficult for us to recognize the articulation of a political conviction in this senseless the destruction, much less the idea of a new, better world. We watched the events slightly frightened and skeptical on the ground and from our windows in the streets of our neighborhood.
But the complexity of the dynamics that happened here this night is not adequately reflected in the media, by the police, or in public discourse. Yes, we saw directly how windows were broken, parking meters were torn out, ATMs thrashed, road signs broken off and the pavement torn open. But we also saw how many days in a row every minor thing caused the completely disproportionate use of water cannons. How people were pushed without reason by uniformed and helmeted officials or even beaten off their bike. For days. This must not be swept under the carpet when considering what happened.
The highlight of this debate is a “black block” that in the night of Friday and Saturday is supposed to have raged in our neighborhood. Our own observations do not confirm this, the damages lamented by the press and that happened outside of direct confrontation with the police are only in small part due to these people.
The vast majority were young people looking for entertainment as well as voyeurs and party people, whom we would rather find on the beat, a football match or Bushido concert than on a left-radical demo. There were drunken young men whom we saw on the scaffolding and who were throwing bottles - treating this as a planned “ambush” and a menace to the life and limb of the civil servants is incomprehensible to us.
It was mainly these people who, after the windows had been broken, went into the shops and returned with stolen goods. Who in an act of sporting self-exaggeration and with a naked torso threw water bottles from a distance of 50 meters at other people, while bystanders with beer in their hands were egging them on and making cell phone videos.
It was rather the mixture of anger at the police, disinhibition caused by alcohol, the frustration of one’s own existence, and the greed for a spectacle that was the cause. This was not a left-wing protest against the G20 summit. To speak of leftist activists would be reductive and wrong.
In addition to all the violence and destruction on that day, we have seen many situations where apparently well-organized, black-dressed and masked people have been working together with local residents to stop others from attacking small, owner-managed stores. Who took the iron bars out of other people’s hands, who helped neighbors secure their bicycles and who prevented the senseless throwing of bottles. They also extinguished a fire when, in the devastated and plundered “Flying Tiger Copenhagen,” youths were trying to set a fire with a flare even though the house is inhabited.
It is not up to us to determine what has gone wrong here, which action led to what reaction. What we can say, however, is that we live and work here, and for many weeks we have been witnessing how the “showcase of modern police work” is creating a climate of impotence, fear and resultant anger. The fact that this comprehensible anger was now indiscriminately, blindly and bluntly articulated this way, we regret very much. It still leaves us completely shaken today.
Nevertheless, we see the origin of this anger in the failed politics of the Red-Green Senate, who wants to bask in the flashing lights of the international press, but has been totally incompetent and has let a highly militarized police completely manage this major event on all levels. This Senate has issued a “Carte Blanche” to the police - but that the problems, questions and social implications arising in the context of such a summit in the midst of a city of millions can not only be answered with police tactics and repressive means seems to have been lost in the drunken staggering of a quasi-monarchic staging of power and glamor. That this would not fly could have been foreseen with a minimum of political vision.
We agree when Olaf Scholz now speaks of an unacceptable “brutalization”, which we “all have to face”. But it must not be forgotten that this brutalization is also the consequence of a society in which any deviating political expression is criminalized and combated by the police with special laws and militarized units.
But in spite of all the shocking events of the weekend it must also be said: The pictures going around the world are indeed apocalyptic, dark, and sooty. But we were far away from the reality of a civil war. Instead of continuing to increase hysteria, pondering and reflection should now become part of the discussion. The street still exists, on Monday most of the shops opened as before, the damage to persons is limited.
We were more afraid of the armed special units aiming machine guns at our neighbors than of the alcoholic hooligans that let off steam here yesterday. They are stupid, annoying, and are breaking windows, but in case of doubt they will not shoot you.
For most of us shop owners, the far greater damage has been caused by the exodus of our customers, who were fed up with the many interventions and restrictions caused by the summit. And by our suppliers who have not been able to supply us since last Tuesday, due to the absence of our guests. The associated sales losses will hurt us for a long time to come.
For many years we have been living in a peaceful, often amicable and solidary neighborhood with all kinds of protest, of which the Red Flora is a non-negotiable part. This weekend won’t change that in the slightest.
Knowing that this superfluous spectacle is now over, we hope that the police enters a moderate relationship with democracy and the people living in it, that after weeks and months of hysteria and restrictions we can get some rest and tackle our everyday life with all the big and small contradictions together again.
