However, uncovering the exact source of heap metadata corruption required more in-depth analysis. #Vulnerability #HeapCorruption 🎯 The breaking point was identified via a gdb script tracking down the bug causing heap corruption. Observing the $pc pointer's behaviour during an overflow incident shed light on the potential exploitation of the vulnerability. #Exploit #ROPchains 💻 Sternum exploited the vulnerability using a binary exploitation technique known as ROP chains. Despite limitations due to the Wemo_ctrl loading address and the 80-byte payload size, a successful command injection was achieved through the snprintf() function. #BinaryExploitation #CommandInjection 📬 Sternum disclosed the vulnerability to Belkin via Bugcrowd on January 9th, 2023. Do you have Smart Plugs? PSA: For the past week my dog licked a raw spot on his foot, was panting & pacing, and kept his tail tucked down all the time. His ears were pinned back and wouldn’t eat. I took him to the vet. He got an anti-nausea injection & some Gabapentin to help. He was ok for a while. Then refused to come in the house. I called the vet & she asked if there was new electronic devices in the house. We had new smart plugs about a week ago. His symptoms were worse when the lamps were on. When off, He stopped panting, stopped pacing & ate his food. His tail was up & wagging again. When smart plugs on, his symptoms started again. We used an app to test the frequency of the smart plugs. It was off the the charts. For two days they were unplugged. That confirmed that it’s definitely the smart outlets causing his stress & discomfort. If your pets are exhibiting similar symptoms, you may want to consider checking your electronics first. I cannot express how relieved I am that he is ok now.

While fixing my air conditioner, I needed to frequently debug what HTTP requests my ESP32 was sending to my hue bridge's API when it activates or deactivates my 3d printed dremel-based pump to prevent excess condensate from flooding my flat and jeopardizing my housing situation. If you use nix/home-manager, then my approach could be of perverse interest to you. If not, then feel free to gawk at how complicated I can implement a single alias command.

When my ESP32 detects a pulled-down voltage at

GPIO4

, this means that the water level has reached the upper limit in my condensation collection container. This is because i have

GND

ran out to the bottom of the bin, and

GPIO4

is set to

INPUT_PULLUP

is set to the same but I do not turn on the pump for this pin. Instead, i use that pin to know when to turn off the pump once the pump has been turned on at the upper limit.
