Deep Belly Detox
Buy Now
As You Can See There is NOTHING Else Like This & It’s NOT Available ANYWHERE Else
Most people don’t know this but I struggled for years living in a body that didn’t feel like my own and when I suddenly found myself more than 30 pounds overweight I didn’t know where to turn…
And it wasn’t until I realized that 99% of the weight loss programs out there NEVER address the hormonal changes that women and men go through that I began to figure this all out…
I think everyone over 40 have been done a HUGE disservice when it comes to losing weight, burning fat, and our ideal body image that it’s no wonder so many of us don’t feel happy in our own body…
And that’s why I look at my own personal struggle as the greatest gift in the world because it led me down a path to create the #1 fat-flushing formula in the world…
These deep belly detoxing secrets have been hidden for years and once you realize how simple and easy getting the body you desire actually is, you’ll be stunned yet suddenly surprised that a flat and firm belly is waiting at your fingertips…
Yet they are NOT available anywhere else, unless you travel to California and pay over $500 to meet with me in person…
Now, before I go any further, I must mention one thing…
These Deep Belly Detox Secrets Do Not Work For EVERYONE
There’s nothing more I would love than being able to help everyone over 40 get the body you’ve been dreaming about for far too long, however…
I must make one thing perfectly clear…
These flat belly secrets will NOT work for everyone…
If you’re looking for a quick fix to lose 25 pounds by tomorrow morning then this is NOT for you…
If you’re looking to add more muscle and get bigger then this is not for you…
If you’re unwilling to put in even an ounce of work and expect your belly to magically flatten without lifting a single finger then this is definitely NOT for you…
This fat-burning blueprint is ONLY for women and men who are willing to take action and are ready to make a change right NOW…
If that sounds like you then I can’t wait for you to get started because you’ve never seen ANYTHING like this…
And the best part is, my loss is YOUR gain, you see…
My Publishing Company Messed Up Which Means YOU Save BIG
Deep Belly Detox was originally meant to be a 3-disc set delivered to your doorstep, however after just a few weeks the publishing costs were way over my head…
Which means before the next batch of DVD’s are released, we’re having a fire sale on the digital version so I can get this into as many people’s hands as possible at a fraction of the cost…
To have these discs recorded, printed, and shipped to your door would cost over $147…
Which would still be a HUGE steal to end your weight loss struggles once and for all by addressing the bad “Belly Bacteria” that has been KILLING your results without you knowing…
However, I wouldn’t be able to look at my daughter and my husband with a straight face knowing there are so many people out there that I’d be leaving behind…
So what I decided to do for a limited time only is release the digital-only version of Deep Belly Detox for the extremely low discounted price below…
And the good news is…
You Can Try Out The Entire Deep Belly Detox System On Me
Look, you’ve taken in a lot of new information today and I don’t want you to feel overwhelmed for a single second…
And the truth is, I always love when others let me try out something before committing to it fully…
So what I’ve decided to do is protect you with my 60-Day, 100% Money Back Guarantee…
Deep down I know without a doubt you’ll be amazed at your results when you start applying these fat loss loopholes…
Which is why I’m taking ALL the risk OFF of you and putting it on me.
If for whatever reason you aren’t completely satisfied then I insist you take advantage of my unconditional money back guarantee…
So if you don’t get the results you desire, you’ll get a full refund with NO questions asked.
“I Was SHOCKED to See I’m Down 2.8 Pounds in the First 24 Hours“
**Results may vary**
The Good News Is Today You Qualify For a Limited Time Exclusive Discount on The Entire Deep Belly Detox System
If you made it to this page then you automatically qualify for our digital pre-sale that’s only available for a limited time…
As I mentioned before, Deep Belly Detox was originally meant to be distributed as a 3-disc set shipping directly to your doorstep…
However, complications with my publishing company lead me to take charge because I don’t want to leave anyone behind…
And I wanted to make sure anyone who was even remotely interested at getting a flat and firm belly starting TODAY would be able to afford it…
Which is why for this pre-sale only, you can get the entire Deep Belly Detox protocol for the ridiculously low one-time only investment of just $15.
Act Now & Click the “Add to Cart” Button Below to Lock In Your Savings and Get This Entire Fat-Flushing System For Over 85% OFF Today!
If You’re Frustrated With Unwanted Belly Fat Then You Have to Know One Thing…
It’s Only Because You Haven’t Been Detoxing Your Belly At A Deep Enough Level Yet
That’s why cutting back on calories and eating dry salads at every meal will NEVER work…
And it’s why exercising for hours on end at the gym only puts more stress on your body and the belly fat never seems to burn off as fast as you’d like or even at all…
It’s because this common weight loss advice does NOT work for women and men over 40…
And it’s why I’m pouring my heart to you in this letter because I’ve seen so many strong and confident women and men turn into a shell of themselves because they put on a little weight and before you know it they look like a completely different person…
I want you to take back your body, your self-confidence, the love you have for yourself, and realize that the only thing standing in your way from the body and life of your dreams…
Are a few very simple tricks and techniques I discovered after working with thousands of REAL women and men over 40 and realized how your “Belly Bacteria” controls EVERYTHING…
So Now the Only Thing You Have To Ask Yourself Is…
How much longer do you want to live in a body you’re not 100% happy with?
How much longer do you want to fight fatigue and struggle to get going in the morning which can ruin your whole day?
How much longer are you going to keep letting men tell you what to do?
How much longer are you going to let men tell you how a female body should look?
When are you going to say enough is enough and it’s time to take your body, your confidence, and your life back once and for all because deep down you know there’s a Superwoman bursting to get out
I want you to wake up every morning in a body that you love and can’t wait to show off to the world…
I want you to be glowing, confident person who all your friends are envious of because you always “have it all together” with an amazing new body that leaves even your closest friends STUNNED…
I want you to slip into your new swimsuit on your next vacation and prove EVERYONE who ever doubted you for a single second WRONG…
Carol Flushed Away 21 Pounds and FOUR Dresses Sizes When NOTHING Ever Worked For Her Before
“I would like to tell everyone that Get program that Meredith provides.
**Results may vary**
It is the best program I’ve ever been on I’ve been on many.
I’m losing the weight and not regaining it even when I’m sick. I love the bonuses she gives us.
I have went from a size 12 and size 8 and I weighed 187 when I started the program and now I weigh 166.
This is the complete package!”
You Were Meant For Something More
The only thing stopping you from living in a tight and toned body with a flat belly year round is you simply haven’t given yourself permission yet…
Maybe you don’t feel like you’re good enough…
Maybe you don’t feel worthy…
Maybe you think if you focus too much on yourself that it’s selfish and too many other people depend on you already…
However, the truth is…
Continuing to sacrifice, always putting everyone else ahead of you, and never go after your true desires is the most selfish thing you could ever do…
Saying no to what you really want and convincing yourself that you’re not good enough to have it will only make you more frustrated, more angry, more resentful…
And I know that’s NOT the person you’re destined to be…
I only attract the most amazing action takers around the world which is why you ended up on this very page in the first place…
You’re different from everyone else…
You want MORE…
You DESERVE more…
And I know whenever you put your mind to something you really want, you ALWAYS get it without question…
This is YOUR time to raise your hand and prove to the world you’re not going to settle for anything LESS than you desire…
You can easily have way more energy, a sleek, toned body, and a firm midsection to match…
All you have to do is allow yourself permission and finally do something for YOURSELF because you deserve it…
Deep Belly Detox Was Specifically Designed to Work WITH the Hormonal Changes That Happen As You Age To Flatten & Firm Up Your Belly In Just 15 Days
As I mentioned before, you can try the entire Deep Belly Detox program for 60-days on me…
Because I think it’s only fair you have a chance to test-drive the program first before committing to the new body and life you desire…
And if for whatever reason you realize this system simply isn’t for you, you’ll get a FULL refund with NO questions asked…
All the risk is on me because I struggled with my own weight for years and I spent so much money on personal trainers, doctor visits, and fitness classes that never made a REAL difference…
That’s why I’m willing to put myself out there because I know how big of a dramatic change this can have on your body and your health, which is why you risk nothing by trying it out today on me…
Make the smart choice and put yourself first for once because not only to you deserve it, you EARNED it for everything you’ve been through.
Simply click the Add To Cart button below and your special discount will automatically be applied to your order…
I appreciate you,
Meredith Shirk
P.S. – This is the exact same deep belly detox formula that I used to drop over 30 pounds when NONE of the doctors or health experts could figure out why I was suddenly gaining weight.
Little did they know it ALL had to do with the hormonal changes my body was going through that NO ONE ever told me about. That’s why I want to get this in your hands today at this steep discount because I don’t want you to spend another penny on some high priced doctor or personal trainer who doesn’t really know how your body works.
P.P.S. – The most important thing I discovered on my own weight loss journey is just how dangerous having extra belly fat really is. It can lead to a host of horrible diseases like heart hypertension, stroke, diabetes, and even a heart attack…
Which is why there’s no time to waste and this program isn’t simply about giving you the body you love to look at in the mirror, it’s also about giving you the long-term health that’ll have you around for decades to see your kids and even your grandkids grow up and do amazing things in this world.
P.P.P.S – And remember, you do NOT have to decide right now. Simply take advantage of my 60-day, 100% money back guarantee that’ll have you covered for the next two months, so you can go through the entire program and visibly SEE the amazing results before making a final decision.
Look, I Know We Covered A LOT Today…
So Here Are the Most Common Questions About the Deep Belly Detox System
Q: Do I have to already be in shape for this to work?
Absolutely not! In fact, most people start the program with 30-50 pounds to lose, or more. So you definitely do NOT need to be “in shape” for this program to work.
All you have to do is be ready to take action on the life and body you desire without holding anything back.
Q: How is this different than the other weight loss programs out there?
The problem with 99% of the traditional weight loss programs out there is they do NOT address your bad “Belly Bacteria” and how it controls your weight loss…
And NONE of them detox your belly at a deep enough level which makes losing weight and burning fat virtually impossible…
Which is why so many of us fail on typical diets and workout programs because they never address what your body is going through on the cellular level.
Q: Am I too old for this to work?
I’ve had women and men in their 30’s and 40’s, all the way up to their 70’s and early 80’s go through this program and experience amazing results.
Age is just a number and as long as you’re ready to take action to your new, youthful body of health then I can’t wait for you to get started!
Q: Meredith, I lost 8 pounds in the first 10 days, is this normal?
That’s fantastic! Look, everyone’s body is different, however the average weight loss we see in the first 10 days is 5-8 pounds.
Q: What if this doesn’t work for me?
If in the rare chance this program does not work for you, then you’ll still be covered by our 60-Day, 100% Money Back Guarantee. Simply let us know and you’ll get a full refund with no questions asked.
Q: How easy is it to get started?
Once you pick up your copy of the Deep Belly Detox, you’ll see a Quick Start Guide that’ll tell you EXACTLY how to get started.
I recommend starting with the 12-hour fat-flush to jumpstart your fat-burning metabolism.
And the good news is, you probably already have everything you need to get started in your house right now.
Q: How long will the price stay at $15?
As I mentioned earlier, the original idea was to have this program be a 3-disc DVD set sent straight to your doorstep.
Unfortunately the deep discount can’t last forever and isn’t guaranteed past today.
Q: Will I ever be billed again?
No, this is a one-time purchase for just $15 and you will never be billed again.
Q: Meredith, I’m ready to make a change. What’s the first step?
I am SO happy for you!
The first step is clicking the Buy Now button below, where you’ll be taken to our 100% secure order form page hosted by Clickbank.
Clickbank is the vendor I use to host my programs. They are the most secure and well-respected online retail platform in the world.
Simply enter in your information and you’ll be directed to our secure download page where you can get started.

Connecting with Treatment, Quickly
Anyone who has grappled with addiction in themselves or a loved one knows that when a person with substance use disorder decides they’re ready for help, time is of the essence. Getting connected with treatment before fear takes hold or someone changes their mind can be lifesaving. That’s why Asana Recovery, which offers detox, residential treatment and an outpatient program in Costa Mesa, California, has an expedited intake process that allows new clients to walk through the doors within 30 minutes of making a phone call and to see a doctor the same day, seven days a week. The recovery center even has a driver on-call at all hours to help with pick-ups.Expedited intake is just one feature that sets Asana Recovery apart, according to Mark Shandrow, CEO of Asana. The treatment center also focuses on making sure that each client experiences treatment that works for them.“The ‘Asana Way’ focuses on providing personalized and comprehensive treatment plans for both men and women in recovery,” he said. “It embodies our forward-thinking approach to the treatment of addiction, pairing traditional and alternative methods, and serving all clients with compassion, while providing appropriate structure and practicing essential values in work and in play.”Asana has 12 inpatient beds and 12 outpatient slots available. This size appeals to many people who want an intimate recovery experience, but access to a variety of treatment resources.“The size is ideal for clients wanting individualized attention but who also value dynamic group sizes and a variety of clinical programming,” Shandrow said.Through discussion and activities, clinicians at Asana focus on instilling the values of gratitude, stewardship, mindfulness, creativity and teamwork, he added.Clients can come into Asana at various stages of recovery. Many need to detox from opioids, alcohol or other substances, and the providers at Asana aim to make that process as painless as possible using the latest innovations in medication-assisted treatment, as well as unconventional approaches to ease the burden of withdrawal.“Non-traditional detox protocols are often implemented to better match each client’s uniqueness,” Shandrow said.Once a client is done detoxing, therapy begins to help them address the underlying issues that have helped cause their addiction. Individual and family counseling sessions as well as group therapies help clients identify what is contributing to their addiction and make plans to address those issues in order to stay sober long-term. Therapists use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to help facilitate this.In addition to these therapeutic approaches, Asana takes a holistic approach to wellness, focusing on how diet and exercise can contribute to healing.“Mindfulness, physical exercise and healthy eating are incorporated into daily treatment programming,” Shandrow said. “Most meals are prepared by an on-site chef with a focus on replenishing basic vitamins and minerals. The nutritionist provides dietary analysis, consulting and meal preparation training.”Clients can exercise daily at a level that suits them, whether that means walking along the beach or training with personal trainers who work at the treatment center. The program, which also includes 12-step and SMART recovery meetings, is designed to help clients begin the stages of building a productive and worthy life, Shandrow said. When clients are ready to leave the treatment center, clinicians work with them to formulate a detailed aftercare plan to help them stay successful.“Everyone that discharges from Asana Recovery is provided a detailed list of their next steps to achieve their goals and maintain their sobriety, steps that include family, work, health and spiritual goals and objectives,” Shandrow said.Although many treatment centers require a certain level of disconnect while a client is in treatment, Asana Recovery will work with people who want to undergo treatment with their partners, and even those who would like to bring pets with them. If approved, clients can have their phones and laptops in order to stay connected with their day-to-day life while they work to improve their futures.Asana Recovery offers residential and outpatient treatment in Costa Mesa, California. What Is the Best Diet for Flu Season?
New Post has been published on http://healingawerness.com/news/what-is-the-best-diet-for-flu-season/
What Is the Best Diet for Flu Season?
As we enter the season of holidays (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas) and move on to the New Year, a main concern on people’s mind is getting healthy. This usually involves many resolutions to exercise more and eat better, and this isn’t just for weight loss. This time of year is also prime flu season, and taking proactive steps to optimize the family’s diet can improve your chances of fighting off cold and flu viruses quickly.
Luckily, there are some simple suggestions that can help bolster the body’s defenses against untimely invaders. Most of these are safe for kids as well, and just generally good practice.
Immune-Boosting Diet for Cold & Flu Season
The old adage “you are what you eat” has never been more true. As the percentage of the population that is medically classified as overweight or obese rises steadily, it is no surprise that rates of cancer, disease, and other medical issues are rising as well.
For optimal health, I recommend a diet of high-quality proteins, abundant sources of beneficial fats, and adequate amounts of organic or locally grown vegetables, if available. You can also add certain supplements and herbs that can help support the body in fighting illness.
Proteins
One of the disadvantages of the low-fat diet that has been promoted by the medical community for so long is the lower intake of protein that often accompanies it. Proteins are necessary for virtually every function the body performs.
Additionally, a low-fat diet is often a high carb diet, as foods like whole grains and starchy vegetables are considered “healthy” low-fat foods. This high carbohydrate diet can contribute to insulin resistance, obesity and eventually diabetes if continued over long periods of time.
As proteins are vital for every function of the body, they also perform an important role in immune function and weight maintenance. Antibodies are specialized proteins that help defend the body from illness and bacteria. Proteins are necessary for cell division which is vital in healing and growth, and proteins in the form of hormones and enzymes regulate chemical reactions in the body.
The adult body needs one gram of usable protein for every 2.2 pounds of body weight. This means that a 180-pound man would need around 80 grams of protein a day and a 145-pound woman would need about 65 grams a day.
I give a full list here, but good sources of healthy protein include the following:
organic grass-fed beef
free-range chicken
organic raw dairy (if tolerated)
real-food protein powder
pastured eggs
homemade bone broth and soups
Bone broth and soups made with bone broth are also a great way to bolster the immune system, which is why chicken soup is often associated with recovery from illness. Even if making soup from scratch isn’t in the cards, there are companies that make broth the real-food way and have quality ingredients.
Fats
This may sound foreign to you if you have followed a low-fat diet in the past, but more and more studies are proving that eating fat does not make you fat. In fact, recent research is showing that adequate fat intake is vital to weight loss. Fats provide concentrated energy and are important building blocks in hormones. Fats carry the fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K.
As Dr. Mercola explains here , studies show that fats, including the much feared saturated fats, contribute to immune strength, bone strength, and can protect the liver. For optimal immune function, it is important to get adequate fats from healthy sources. A good rule of thumb to follow is to eat only fats that are minimally processed and from healthy animals or plants. These will be saturated and monounsaturated fats.
Some of the best sources of healthy fats include the following:
olive oil
coconut oil
avocados
nuts/seeds
krill oil
raw dairy
pastured eggs
Avoid vegetable oils which are polyunsaturated fats, hydrogenated fats, and trans fats. These fats are dangerous to the body.
Vegetables
I don’t think I will have to do much to convince you that vegetables are healthy and important for optimal health and weight loss! The important thing is to get organic or locally grown vegetables whenever possible as organic varieties can contain up to three times the nutrients of conventional vegetables.
For weight loss and immune function, it is important to avoid eating too many starchy vegetables like potatoes and winter squash and to focus on:
greens (spinach, lettuce, kale, mustard greens, etc)
peppers
tomatoes
hot peppers
garlic
onions
celery
asparagus
cabbages
broccoli
mushrooms (technically a fungus)
green beans
snow peas
I get my vegetables in by drinking veggie smoothies and eating a salad or two green vegetables at every meal. The Wahls Protocol is another super-smart and simple way to pack more vegetables in the diet.
Avoid Sugar (and Other Empty Carbs)
I have talked about the health risks of sugar in the past and why I generally avoid it. Sugar is naturally present in many foods (like fruit) but on its own it contains:
no nutrients
no protein
no healthy fats
no enzymes
Digesting sugar actually pulls minerals from the body so you could even think of sugar as an anti-nutrient. Sugar intake is linked to non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, insulin issues, and cholesterol issues among other health problems.
But it is especially important to avoid sugar when you’re sick or trying to avoid catching an illness. A 1973 study found that eating sugar (but not other forms of carbohydrates) plays a role in suppressing the immune system.
White flour and other processed grains can have the same health issues that sugar does, like spiking blood sugar. Stay away from all “white” foods when you’re fighting a bug or trying to avoid catching it.
Cold & Flu-Fighting Supplements
When you’re fighting an illness, especially if you’re not able to eat much, supplements can help support the body’s natural defenses. Here are some of my favorite supplements when someone in my family catches a cold or flu.
Saline Nasal Rinse
A saline rinse is a great way to help decongest the nose without resorting to pharmaceuticals. It’s so gentle that you can use it on kids and infants too. I make my own with Himalayan salt and warm water, but I’ve also used this one for convenience sake.
Xylitol Nasal Rinse
While saline nasal rinse can be effective for some cases of congestion, xylitol may be better. A 2011 study found that xylitol mixed with water is more helpful in treating congestion than saline solution. Xylitol nasal spray can be used in the same ways saline spray can.
Vitamin C
Perhaps the most well-known vitamin for cold and flu, vitamin C is helpful for boosting the immune system. My family uses a real food form of vitamin C made from camu camu and acerola cherry. Read more about the benefits of vitamin C here.
Zinc
Healthy levels of zinc in the body can help make a cold or flu virus less severe and shorter lived. In fact, one sign of zinc deficiency is recurring minor illness (like colds and flus). There is some debate about whether zinc supplementation is beneficial in all cases, so I opt for a low-dose zinc lozenge when we are really trying to boost immune systems.
Soup Detox
I recommend doing a soup detox twice a year to eliminate built-up toxins and other things that make the body less than healthy. Doing a cleanse like this helps reset the body so it’s at optimal performance (and the recipes are easy and actually delicious too!). We’ve even done this soup detox as a family. I just serve extra protein and carbs for the kids on the side at each meal.
Bee Propolis
Bee propolis is the glue that holds the hive together and protects it from invaders of all kinds. Bee propolis is antibacterial and antimicrobial, making it a great remedy for sore throats and other cold symptoms. It’s also anti-inflammatory, immune-boosting, and cancer-fighting. My favorite way to get it is in this honey or this propolis throat spray (great for preventing or soothing sore throats!).
Vitamin D
Another thing that helps weight loss and flu prevention is to maintain adequate levels of vitamin D. More and more research is showing the importance of vitamin D in maintaining weight, preventing disease, and for optimal mental health.
The best source of vitamin D is that which is naturally produced by your body when exposed to sunlight in moderation, though this can be difficult in winter months. If you are unable to get 30 minutes of sunlight a day, supplementation may be necessary. If you choose to supplement, opt for vitamin D3, a more assimilable and healthy version than other forms.
Since vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin, it can be dangerous if taken in excess. Consider having your vitamin D levels checked by a doctor before beginning any supplementation, though vitamin D obtained from sunlight is considered safe.
Herbal Teas
Herbal teas are a great way to stay hydrated during an illness, but they have medicinal purposes too. Many common herbs are helpful in treating mild illnesses like colds and flus.
Here are a few of my teas to boost the immune system:
Mint – Great for digestive issues (including morning sickness!)
Chamomile – A soothing and relaxing herbal tea that’s rich in magnesium
Sage – This herb has antiseptic and astringent properties making it perfect for fighting infections like colds and flus
Nettle Leaf – This herb is highly nutritious, especially paired with red raspberry, and can offer nutrients when you’re not feeling like eating
Elderberry – We also make homemade elderberry syrup to help ward off illness
Best of all, many herbal teas are safe for kids and a great way to offer some extra comfort and vitamins when kids do come down with something.
Garlic
Science supports what so-called “old wives’ tales” have known for a long time: fresh garlic has potent antimicrobial and antiviral properties. I crush a few cloves and take it raw in a spoonful of honey, but I’ve had to get more creative to get some of my kids to take it. See this post for a full list of garlic benefits and creative ways to sneak garlic into the family diet.

Methylfolate: What’s the Right Dosage for me?
Maintaining your health with an MTHFR mutation can be tricky…
At Methyl-Life, we’re committed to bringing you useable information to help you learn more about your body’s unique needs and how to meet them.
We’ve been there. And now we’re here for you.
youtube
Read on for information about methylfolate dosages. We’ll cover:
Working with Medical and Naturopathic Doctors
How to know whether you need a high or low dosage of methylfolate
How much methylfolate and/or methylcobalamin you should take
Possible side effects of your dosage
Be sure to read our Methylation Protocol page to see dosage in action!
PLEASE NOTE: We are not doctors and cannot provide any medical advice or recommendations. We simply offer our experience and what we’ve researched and learned from the doctors who make these recommendations.
Get a doctor on board: Methyl-Life on Methylfolate and MTHFR
As with any supplement or medication you take, it’s important to talk to a healthcare professional about your personal situation. Check in with a pharmacist, too, to ensure there aren’t possible interactions with any medications you are currently taking. Do what is right for your body!
If your doctor does not know how much methylfolate you should take, don’t be alarmed. Many doctors don’t realize how significantly methylfolate and/or MTHFR can affect a person’s quality of life. Everyone has different genetic challenges and disease processes that factor into the mix of MTHFR symptoms. At Methyl-Life, we recommend finding a doctor who is familiar with MTHFR. This could be an MD, a naturopath, or an expert who focuses on methylation, nutrition, and MTHFR. Need options? Try here.
Why don’t all doctors know how much methylfolate you should take?
It takes about 18 years for a known medical fact to become a part of “typical medical practice.” We’re just not there with the genetics yet! If you are conducting research on this topic, you are ahead of the curve and may find some early answers to several long-term issues you have been fighting.
In the course of her own research, our founder, Jamie Horn, discovered that there are two schools of thought regarding dosage, in this case represented through an MD (Gynecologist) and a Naturopathic Doctor.
The MD, Rawlins, talks in terms of the prescription versions of methylfolate available on the market today. These are high-dose options (3 mg, 5.6 mg, 7.5 mg & 15 mg). This dosing has FDA approval and is supported by a lot of research and clinical trials.
The Naturopath, Lynch, talks in terms of lower-dosage, over-the-counter versions of methylfolate currently available (800 mcg –2 mg). He has found this dosage appropriate for people unable to tolerate large doses due to detox or over-methylation.
Is a high or low methylfolate dosage right for you?
Jamie Horn, the founder of Methyl-Life, has done well with the higher dosage of methylfolate (5 mg to 7.5 mg daily). It works great for her! However, she knows that even though MTHFR is a big and important gene in the body’s methylation pathway, there are at least 14 other important ones.
Some people may have a combination of genetic problems causing them to be careful about how much methylfolate they take. It is also possible they could become over-methylated or experience some negative side effects.
Folks with COMT, CBS, or SUOX genetic defects, for example, may find over-methylation an issue. Similarly, people with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia often cannot tolerate much methylfolate at first because it causes an extreme detox effect. This happens because methylfolate promotes glutathione, which moves toxins into their bloodstream so that they can be removed from the body. But these already-burdened systems can get overloaded. These folks often have other protocols they need to start with in order to prepare their system for methylfolate, or they must simply take very low doses of methylfolate. In these cases, B12 in the form of hydroxycobalamin can be one of the supplements they may need prior to taking methylfolate. For folks with CFS or Fibromyalgia should definitely work with a doctor who knows about methylfolate.
If you do know what genetic factors are affecting your methylation pathway (see below), then you might try experimenting with your dosage. Start low and move up slowly until you find your sweet spot.
Finding out what genetic factors are affecting your methylation pathway

Dosage:
How much methylfolate and/or B12 supplement should you take?
Some people may never feel a big change using a methylfolate supplement. For others, like Methyl-Life’s founder, the change might happen right away, or it may take as many as 4 months to notice a reduction in MTHFR symptoms. But even without noticing a difference in your everyday quality of life, there. Are great reasons to take methylfolate:
Methylfolate reduces some people’s homocysteine levels
Methylfolate reduces your risk for conditions like heart attack and miscarriage
Methylfolate can help clear toxins, metals, and BPA out of their system because it boosts glutathion.
For some, it may help increase serotonin levels
In short, methylfolate can have some profoundly positive effects on people. Here are important things to consider regarding dosage:
First, start slow and make sure to include B12, as most people both need and tolerate it very well. Consider our Hydroxocobalaminand/or B-12 Complete products to begin with.
NOTE: If your blood tests show high B12 levels, you may not be getting the whole picture because there is no good intracellular B12 test available today. They are currently testing B12 levels in the blood, but not how much of the B12 nutrient actually reaches your cells to be used by them. So, even if your levels are high, your body may not be converting the B12; it may be unused in your blood and unable to be transported to the cells for use.
Then, try one or all of the 3 active forms of B12 to get the B12 nutrient into the cells (hydroxocobalamin, methylcobalamin, adenosylcobalamin).
The high dose for hydroxocobalamin (B12) ranges between 2-10 mg (with many falling in the 2-5 mg and some doctors recommending 10+ mg for folks with certain health issues). If you have COMT mutations, you might need significant doses of hydroxocobalamin.
The high dose methylcobalamin (B12) range is between 2-15 mg (with many people falling into the 5-10 mg category, but some can get injections for 25+ mg) – if you have MTR & MTRR mutations, you might need significant doses of this (I personally take about 8-12 mg a day). Check out our Best Form of B12page to learn more.
Finally, introduce methylfolate with just ingredient/product/dose at a time. Hold it for a few days to see how your body does with it. This allows you to understand what your body is tolerating well or unhappy with so that you can make changes accordingly.
Consider our B-Methylated IIor lower-dose Methylfolate only products to start.
NOTE: If you determine that a high dose is for you (or that you want to try to increase up to higher doses), the range for methylfolate is typically 3-15 mg daily (with many people falling into the 5-10 mg category, but some taking as much as 50-100 mg per day). This is NOT recommendED without being under the care of a doctor. Today’s higher prescription level dosing is 7.5 mg or 15 mg. See our prescription products pagefor more details.
As you increase your dosing of methylfolate, have Nicotinic Acid or Niacin (not niacinamide) on hand so that if you feel you have taken too much methylfolate and are having an “over-methylated” experience, you can counteract it quickly with the Niacin (try using 50 mg of Niacin every 30-60 minutes or so until symptoms subside).
Possible side effects: what to remember
Remember, these are vitamins! So the number and type of side effects will typically be much lower than they would be for a pharmaceutical drug. But be smart, if you’re very sensitive to drugs, vitamins, and supplements, then do your research, start slow, and talk to your doctor. Also, it is helpful to know that any reaction you have will likely be temporary. As these B vitamins do not stick around in your system, your body will release what it doesn’t use in your urine.
If you have an “over-methylated” experience, Dr. Lynch recommends 50 mg of nicotinic acid every 30 minutes to 1 hour for as long as symptoms of anxiety and irritability are present.

Video Transcription
Hello, Moz fans. Welcome to another edition of Whiteboard Friday. I'm here to talk to you this week about a very hot topic in the digital marketing space. So my name is Lea Pica, and I am a data storytelling trainer, coach, speaker, blogger, and podcaster at LeaPica.com.
I want to tell you a little story. So as 12 years I spent as a digital analyst and SEM, I used to present insights a lot, but nothing ever happened as a result of it. People fell asleep or never responded. No action was being taken. So I decided to figure out what was happening, and I learned all these great tricks for doing it.
What I learned in my journey is that effective data visualization communicates a story quickly, clearly, accurately, and ethically, and it had really four main goals — to inform decisions, to inspire action, to galvanize people, and most importantly to communicate the value of the work that you do.
Now, there are lots of things you can do, but I was struggling to find one specific process that was going to help me get from what I was trying to communicate to getting people to act on it. So I developed my own methodology. It's called the PICA Protocol, and it's a visualization prescription for impactful data storytelling. What I like about this protocol is that it's practical, approachable. It's not complicated. It's prescriptive, and it's repeatable. I believe it's going to get you where you need to go every time.
So let's say one of your managers, clients, stakeholders is asking you for something like, "What are our most successful keyword groups?" Something delightfully vague like that. Now, before you jump into your data visualization platform and start dropping charts like it's hot, I want you to take a step back and start with the first step in the process, which is P for purpose.
P for Purpose
So I found that every great data visualization started with a very focused question or questions.
Why do you exist? Get philosophical with it.
What need of my audience are you meeting?
What decisions are you going to inform?
These questions help you get really focused about what you're going to present and avoid the sort of needle in a haystack approach to seeing what might stick.
So the answers to these questions are going to help you make an important decision, to choose an appropriate chart type for the message that you're trying to convey. Some of the ways you want to do that — I hear you guys are like into keywords a little bit — you want to listen for the keywords of what people are asking you for. So in this case, we have "most successful." Okay, that indicates a comparison. Different types or campaigns or groups, those are categories. So it sounds like what we're going for is a categorical comparison. There are other kinds of keywords you can look for, like changing over time, how this affects that. Answers or opinions. All of those are going to help you determine your most appropriate visual.
Now, in this case, we have a categorical comparison, so I always go back to basics. It's an oldie but goodie, but we're going to do the tried-and-true bar chart. It's universally understood and doesn't have a learning curve. What I would not recommend are pie charts. No, no, no. Unless you only have two segments in your visual and one is unmistakably larger than the other, pie charts are not your best choice for communicating categorical comparison, composition, or ranking.
I for Insight
So we have our choice. We're now going to move on to the next step in the methodology, which is I for insight. So an insight is something that gives a person a capacity to understand something quickly, accurately, and intuitively. Think of those criteria.
So here, does my display surface the story and answer these questions intuitively? That's our criteria. The components of that are:
Layout and orientation. So how is the chart configured? Very often we'll use vertical bar charts for categorical comparison, but that will end up having diagonal labels if they're really long, and unless your audience walks around like this all the time, it's going to be confusing because that would be weird. So you want to make sure it's oriented well.
Labeling. In the case of bars, I always prefer to label each bar directly rather than relying on just an axis, because then their eyes aren't jumping from bar to axis to bar to axis and they're paying more attention to you. That's also for line charts. Very often I'll label a line with a maximum, a minimum, and maybe the most important data point.
Interpretation of the data and where we're placing it, the location.
So our interpretation, is it objective or is it subjective? So subjective words are like better or worse or stupid or awesome. Those are opinions. But objective words are higher, lower, most efficient, least efficient. So you really want your observations to be objective.
Have you presented it ethically? Or have you manipulated the view in a way that isn't telling a really ethical picture, like adjusting a bar axis above zero, which is a no-no? But you can do that with a line graph in certain cases. So look for those nuances. You want to basically ask yourself, "Would I be able to uphold this visual in a court of law or sleep at night?"
Location of that insight. So very often we'll put our insights, our interpretation down here or in really tiny letters up here. Then up here we'll put big letters saying this is sales, my keyword category. No. What we want to do is we want to put our interpretation up here. This top area is the most important real estate on your visual. That's where their eyes are going to look first. So think of this like a BuzzFeed headline for your visual. What do you want them to take away? You can always put what the chart is here in a little subtitle.
Make recommendations. Because that's what a really powerful visual is going to do.
I always suggest having two recommendations at least, because this way you're empowering your audience with a choice. This way you can actually be subjective. That is okay in this case, because that's your unique subject matter expertise.
Are your recommendations accountable to specific people? Are they feasible?
What's the cost of not acting on your recommendations? Put some urgency behind it. So I like to put my recommendations in a little box or callout on the side here so it's really clear after I've presented my facts.
C for Context
The next step in the methodology is C for context. What this is saying is, "Do I have all the data points I need to paint a complete picture, or is there more to this story?" So some additional lenses you might find useful are past period comparison, targets or benchmarks are useful, segmentation, things like geography, mobile device. Or what are the typical questions or arguments that your audience has when you present data? They can be super value contextual points.
In this case, I might decide that while they care about the number of sales, because that's most successful to them, I care about the keywords "conversion rates." So I'm going to add a second bar chart here like this, and I'm going to see there's a different story that's popping out here now.
Now, this is where your data storytelling really comes into play. This particular strategy is called a table lens or a side-by-side bar chart. It's what I recommend if you want to combine two categorical metrics together.
A for Aesthetics
Now, the last step in the methodology is A for aesthetics. Aesthetics are how things look. So it's not about making it look pretty. No, it's asking, "Does my viz comply with brain best practices of how we absorb information?"
1. Decrease visual noise
So the first step in doing that is we want to decrease visual noise, because that creates a lot of tension. So decreasing noise will increase the chance of a happy brain.
Now, I'm a crunchy granola hippie, so I love to detox every day. I've developed a data visualization detox that entails removing things like grid lines, borders, axis lines, line markers, and backgrounds. Get all of that junk out of there, really clean up. You can align everything to the left to make sure that the brain is following things properly down. Don't center everything.
2. Use uniform colors (plus one standout color for emphasis)
Now, you'll notice that most of my bars here have a uniform color — simple black. I like to color everything one color, because then I'll use a separate, standout color, like this blue, to strategically emphasize my key message. You might notice that I did that throughout this step for the words that I want you to pick out. That's why I colored these particular bars, because this feels like the story to me, because that is the storytelling part of this message.
Notice that I also colored the category in my observation to create a connective tissue between these two items. So using color intentionally means things like using green for good and red for bad, not arbitrarily, and then maybe blue for what's important.
3. Source your data
Then finally, you always want to source your data. That increases the trust. So you want to put your platform and your date range. Really simple.
So this is the anatomy of an awesome data viz. I've adapted it from a great book called "Good Charts" by my friend, Scott Berinato. What I have found that by using this protocol, you're going to end up with these wonderful, raving fans who are going to love your work and understand your value. I included a little kitty fan because I can. It's my Whiteboard Friday.
So that is the protocol. I actually have included a free gift for you today. If you click the link at the end of this post, you'll be able to sign up for a Chart Detox Checklist, a full printable PICA Protocol prescription and a Chart Choosing Guide.
Get the PICA Protocol prescription
I would actually love to hear from you. What are the kinds of struggles that you have in presenting your insights to stakeholders, where you just feel like they're not getting the value of what you're doing? I'd love to hear any questions you have about the methodology as well.
So thank you for watching this edition of Whiteboard Friday. I hope you enjoyed it. We'll see you next week, and please remember to viz responsibly, my friends. Namaste.

PICA Protocol: A Visualization Prescription for Impactful Data Storytelling - Whiteboard Friday
Posted by Lea-Pica
If you find your presentations are often met with a lukewarm reception, it's a sure sign it's time for you to invest in your data storytelling. By following a few smart rules, a structured approach to data visualization could make all the difference in how stakeholders receive and act upon your insights. In this edition of Whiteboard Friday, we're thrilled to welcome data viz expert Lea Pica to share her strategic methodology for creating highly effective charts.

What I learned in my journey is that effective data visualization communicates a story quickly, clearly, accurately, and ethically, and it had really four main goals - to inform decisions, to inspire action, to galvanize people, and most importantly to communicate the value of the work that you do.
Some of the ways you want to do that - I hear you guys are like into keywords a little bit - you want to listen for the keywords of what people are asking you for.
Now, you'll notice that most of my bars here have a uniform color - simple black.
Namaste.

What I learned in my journey is that effective data visualization communicates a story quickly, clearly, accurately, and ethically, and it had really four main goals - to inform decisions, to inspire action, to galvanize people, and most importantly to communicate the value of the work that you do.
Some of the ways you want to do that - I hear you guys are like into keywords a little bit - you want to listen for the keywords of what people are asking you for.
Now, you'll notice that most of my bars here have a uniform color - simple black.
Namaste.
