Slum Development in India: Importance, Initiatives, and Challenges

Slum development in India is a significant issue, marked by overcrowded and substandard housing, and lack of basic amenities like clean water, sanitation, healthcare, and education. Addressing this challenge is crucial for poverty reduction, promoting equity, improving health and education, and fostering sustainable urban growth. Grassroots organizations such as the Mahila Housing Trust play an essential role, but a comprehensive government-supported approach is necessary to enhance the well-being of impoverished slum dwellers.
