I was just wondering why would shoma not just jump salchow or loop as his solo jump in SP? Correct me if i'm wrong but i think he performs those jumps much better than the flip?

I think the success rate of both the 4Lo and 4S in practice is not as high as for the 4F, so imo the 4F is the best option. Remember Shoma is dropping the 4S for this season and it was usually the quad he was least successful in during his career. The 4Lo has a good track record in competition but I think Shoma is not as comfortable about it that's why it's also first jump in his free skate. Also Shoma just got it back into his layout in the 2021-2022 season.

Shoma has a high evaluation on the 4F and it's his trademark jump, it's well perceived by judges. There are only few times Shoma failed to land the 4F in the SP, I don't see why he should change that. Also if we think about points the 4F gives the most when you don't have a 4Lz.

As for 4S and 4Lo being better performed...if we consider take-off technique alone maybe, but overall the landings on the 4F are often safer and better than on 4Lo and especially 4S.

I assume you're asking this bc of the technique discussion about the 4F? But from a success rate point of view it doesn't make any sense to exchange the 4F for Shoma.

I don't know if you have been here in 2016-2017 season but actually this discussion about Shoma's 4F started to bully Shoma -yes to bully him bc it was not just reconstructive criticism it was to this point that Shoma should not even be a skater bc he has no right to compete with his technique (no matter if lots of other skaters had "improper technique" too)(remember Shoma breaching the Olympic oath?)Ppl told a lot of lies about Shoma's skating in other aspects too for example all his jumps are flawed which just isn't true and a few stick even to this point years later. Not everything they said about Shoma's technique was wrong but this discussion didn't start to be a thing bc technique was so important to them but bc they didn't like Shoma almost beating Yuzu and many jumped on the discussion despite not being able to tell jumps apart. And the particular group tried the same with Nathan when he started to threaten Yuzu even though Nathan's technique is "textbook". So pardon me when I don't take discussions about Shoma's technique in good faith. Ofc there have always been other ppl keen on proper technique but the discussion became "popular" for utterly different reasons and imo still is for those reasons.

Btw ppl can like it or not but ISU ratified his 4F as the first performed 4F back in 2016 - imo technically it was way worse back then than now - and if ISU would have thought back then that his 4F is not worth a 4F bc of the technique they could have teached a lesson right there about technique but they didn't. They didn't change the rules later when they could about the rule to not watch the take-off in slowmotion, they could have built in deductions for "imperfect" technique but they didn't, which makes me believe that ISU actually doesn't really care about jump technique...

In the end no matter what you personally deem as most important about skating, for fairness in this sport there are rules in place and all skaters should be judged by the same rules and Shoma did not breach any of the rules. If judges value his 4F with too many GOEs that's not on Shoma but the judges. Shoma does his job, the rest is not in his hands.

It felt like an eternity. It felt like time was moving in slowmotion while that recording played. The demonic creature knew that Copia was trying to keep as neutral as he could. It was easy to tell that he was just as displeased with this, entire situation. Dewdrop had been with him since he took the stage as Cardinal. All the way until now. He couldn't fault the man for going through a few, intense emotions.

He was rather affected himself. He was furious, naturally. But his emotions were in utter turmoil. He was upset. Frightened.

What if he couldn't get him back?

What if he couldn't find him?

What if--

He shook off that notion quickly, although a slight flickering of his eyes revealed that while he had turned all emotions off at the moment.. In regards to appearance, at least.. He was affected.

He would be damned in that, old hag got away with this.

Alastor was known for his cruelty. For how swiftly he could dispose of someone. Oh.. Oh, he wouldn't be swift with her. He would take his time. Make her bleed. Make her hurt. Just as she had done to so many.

He was pulled out of his thoughts as Copia spoke, crimson orbs connecting to his. He was almost taken aback at being met by the same coldness as he himself was radiating. But at the same time, that coldness was warranted. Just as with the demon himself, the emotion lying beneath broke through in the crack of his voice. The stag didn't comment on it.

"Bien. We have come to an agreement. Then again.. I do believe that you had a debt to me. With this, consider it paid." He spoke, quite simply, straightening up to his full, staggering height.

"Now, if you will excuse me.. I have a ghoul I need to fetch from the Pit, I believe." He'd nod his head at the man, turning around on his heel to move towards the door. He'd pause, however, clawed hand lingering on the handle for a moment.

"It is funny, really. I have never, in my entire time of existing, harmed or killed a woman. Fancy that." He mused, glancing at him over his shoulder.

"Oh, and Papa? To you, I am just Alastor."

And with that, he was out the door, closing it behind him quietly before he hurried down the hallway, back towards the ghoul wing.

He had never seen the Pit. But he had heard enough to be able to open a gateway.

At least, he hoped so.

Copia was more than capable of a temper but had learned to rein it in over the years, especially with the Project. It served no purpose to scream and shout and hurl abuse at others, especially when he could be far more subtle about his anger.

He thinks he might prefer Alastor yelling, even though he's never been privy to the action. Something about his quiet intensity reads every inch of the demon he is, and none of the kindness he's shown to Dewdrop and his other Ghouls.

It's a difficult thing to resign himself to the fact Imperator will die, even though it is the only logical conclusion to the series of events that led them to this moment. His Fire Ghoul had not deserved banishment any more than Aether had, and the charges were ridiculous.

Would he prefer her to die of natural causes? Yes. She was his mother, and while there was no familial love between them, it still meant something to him to have a blood relative alive.

There were rules about what Ghouls could and could not do, and the charges were legitimate, but even the combination of them had not warranted Banishment. Extra chores, or perhaps being pulled off shows as Sunshine had been this cycle, but Banishment would have been reserved for murdering a human, or Papa.

He's quiet throughout all of Alastor's words, and the recorded conversation that follows. The only sign that it affects him at all is the way his hands clench at the edge of his desk, crinkling the blood-red envelope and paper beneath his fingertips.

He'd suspected. Hell, part of him had always known exactly how bloodied her hands were and what had led him to the position he had today. If he'd made a few different choices, his hands would be just as red as hers.

The anti-Pope isn't sure his face is as expressionless as he's trying for, but there's a lot to accept in a short amount of time. The endless betrayals by Imperator, and her continued undermining of his power, have to stop somewhere. She's not the only one, but she is the highest-ranked person in the Ministry who will not call him Papa, even after Nihil kicked the bucket.

"I... accept that it will happen, Prince Alastor. The only ones who will attempt to have anyone take the fall will be of, eh... no consequence after her death. I guarantee it," he speaks finally, voice cracking with a number of emotions he has no patience to name, or the time to separate.

Things are about to change swiftly within the Ministry, and he's been riding the coattails of others for too long. It's finally time for the Emperor to step into the sun. He's built the Empire, and all he has to do now is rule it.

There's a coldness in his eyes as he looks at Alastor, making eye contact in a direct way that is unusual for him. There's resignation and resolve in his expression, and for once, he looks like a leader.

"Although you don't need it, you have my blessing, yes? I will take care of the Church, and you will take care of Sister Imperator."
