in the morning i need to come up with actual names and designs for these things but brainstorms for the time being:

fisherguy and aquarist. likes to be left alone. butch lez. very non-talkative guy and professional grumpus. shiny hunter and big fan of colorful and rare pokemon even if they seem kind of lame to others. constantly getting into forum debates about proper poke-husbandry. writes a blog about their local observations and shiny hunting adventures. likes nature docs, aspires to write wildlife guidebooks, one of Those coffee drinkers who has a lot of opinions and spends a lot of time and $ on nice coffee. partner is clodsire. was her first pokemon and has been a lifelong friend.

pokemon vet school dropout - moved out here to work with the forest management department. awkward, clumsy, very empathetic nature leads to it taking in any pokemon that looks at them sadly for more than 2 minutes. good at the care, but gets in over its head with too many at once. thought maybe a social media account would help raise awareness about common issues in pokemon but it mostly just led to a lot of "hey somethings wrong with my pokemon, if i send it to you will you fix it" type messages and now it has even more. all of its own pokemon are problem children (partner is an anxiety disorder clefairy (also a pkmn center reject), klepto zigzagoon, lairon with iron deficiency / soft shell, no-tail slopoke, ect).

those two ☝️ are roommates sharing a house near the beach and within comfortable driving distance of the forest. sharing a home means fisherguy is dragged into the other ones pokemon rescue center shenanigans. she pretends to hate it but genuinely likes helping the animals out.

wildlife photographer / surfer / scuba diver / ect who came to the area recently to gather material for a project. kinda sorta love interest for fisherguy. occassionally will hire her as a tour guide when she needs to find a specific spot or is looking for a particular pokemon. they dont know this at first but it turns out diver girl is a fan/avid reader of fishergirls pokeblog. eventually end up as a writer/photographer duo.

No. 8 - Dendra

Eventho her classes are about pokemon battles/related to battling, I think she's also the PE teacher. I mean look at her.

Eventho I can see her very suportive towards her students, I still would die in them. Don't like PE AT ALL. My experiences with them weren't great so thats why she's last

No. 7 - Tyme

Okay

As sweet and supportive she is, there's now way I would actually enjoy her classes. I like her as a person, but because I suck at math and it gives me anxiety - Nah. Just Nah

Shes a good teacher, but I don't really know when she's gonna explode like she did to Clavell. So sorry Tyme.

No. 6 - Salvatore

Kinda same with Tyme. He's cool and all, but how he sometimes acts... eh don't really like it... I know it's meant as a encouragement and tries to make the classes more fun but sometimes it's kinda... pushy? You know?

He's kinda 50/50

No. 5 - Miriam

Eventho she is the school nurse and don't have a teaching license [yet], I think she could be nice heath-education-teacher-thinggy (don't know the right word)

I think she's nice, but just because I can't have nice things, probably wouldn't like her classes as much I hoped.

No. 4 - Saguaro

He's a fucking chad okay? He's my dad now. Im not really into cooking but would 100% enjoy my time there. He's so adorable and cute! I mean, so MANLY that he wears pink and has some embroidery in his apron. Also uses pokemon he likes and not what everyone expects him to have.

ALSO THE FUCKING SLOPOKE CUP 😭😭😭😭 It's just so damn cute

But yeah, would enjoy his cooking classes

No. 3 - Jacq [almost forgot him]

Man, do I like biology. Is it humans or animals give it to me. Don't really like the history aspect that much but still.

He's kinda clumsy and forgets lots of things. He's also chill too that he rather show us videos than actually teach. Also can see that students tends to lie him about having homework so he always kinda "huh, I thought I did give.... OH well it's not that important" and then Clavell hears that and stares at him and the Jacq's like "oh shit"

Love history. So cool and interesting to learn about the past. I want to study history and become historian too so heck yeahh!!

So yeah. Im the art kid so anything related to art and crafts is really nice! Don't really like all the mediums but learning new things is cool.

Hassle can be strict too but in a good way. He definitely would give all his students the best grades, but he really can't do that.

I guess usually with art, the teachers don't actually rate the atrwork itself, rather the techniques and how well you used them in the said artwork. And also how you behave in the classes maybe can affect the grade too.

So thats why you may not have given the best grades but idk. Im not a teacher and don't really want to.

I know Clavell is the director, so he'll mostly do paperwork than teach, but it would be fun If he did!

When I was in school, the principal taught something sometimes. It usually was kinda easy and quick so they could have time to do the paperworks and staff.

Idk what Clavell would teach, but hell yeah, his classes would be fun. Would enjoy my time there!

Do any of the legendary’s eat other pokemon? I imagine they do because survival of the fittest no? Or have they ever-

Pokemon have and haven’t been used as food in the series before! What I mean by this is we see how Klawf becomes a dish in Paldea, whereas it’s seen more as taboo in Johto when Team Rocket cuts off Slopoke tails to sell them at high prices as delicacies and snacks! There are also plenty of fisherman in the games who most likely use their catches as food. It’s kinda odd to think about since all pokemon are technically viable as pets? The game lore is kinda hard to go off of. I dont imagine that evvveryone in the pokemon universe is vegetarian though? Its a weird path to tread on XD And rhen theres the curious case of grass and bug type pokemon who are plants and bugs too? I feel like hardly any cuisine is safe in this universe tbh-

With that being said, all legends in this world are technically humans. None of them have pokemon forms, and if they do they are an exception to this rule(only one legend fits this so far) OR just for funsies(most likely every legendary you’ll see me rp as) They are gods and have powers, but do not posess animal forms. I would imagine they are against eating pokemon for the most part but prolly enjoy a nice meal every so often.

There are some legends who may eat pokemon, theres some who eat people, and some who purely eat veggies! When pokemon can truly be anything though its hard to figure out what you should and shouldn’t eat XD

I wanted to post this on the OG post but it got super lengthy and I didn’t want to put OP through the nonsense that is my opinion but here it is

Not only was the original post spot on I feel like the stakes are just…not there anymore?

In Gen 1-2 we had Team Rocket and my god did that group hate our 10 year old guts lol. The modern Pokémon game adversaries are way too buddy buddy and unfortunately boring as shit to battle with imo, like it was cool with Team Skull I guess but Team Yell in SWHS really didn’t bring anything interesting to the games except be annoying as shit.

Back in the earlier Gens we were breaking into hideouts, jumping down wells to save slopokes from getting their tails cut off for a money making scheme, playing in casinos to get Abras (admit it that was the real reason bc those shits were hard to catch!) took down the CEO of an evil corporation, tamed an enraged gyrados (our first shiny!) got our Pokémon poisoned and had a panic attack trying to get it back to a Pokémon center before it fainted (y’all say it cause anxiety but it made you care about those little monsters didn’t it? Made you care enough to buy some Antidotes so it never happened again didn’t it?)

All this BEFORE we even thought of setting foot in the Pokémon League (not to mention the League members themselves taking an active role in investigating said dastardly deeds) which meant you got to go around meeting random trainers with cool Pokémon you never even knew existed but you WANTED bc the characters were so memorable and cool!

And rolling back to that care point again, yeah Pokémon amie and the picnic gimmicks are great and it’s wonderful to see all of your Pokémon out and about, but outside of just petting them you never really got as attached to them as when you saw them get hurt, the older gens encouraged bonding through hardship bc oh my god how could you not after your first poison faint just before you could make it to a Center to fix them??? (Course that could just be entirely me which is fine)

I guess what I’m getting at is that Pokémon was never just about the battles, it was about exploring the world as a whole with a bunch of big awesome super powered creatures, creatures that would help you delve even deeper into the land as you continued on your journey until you ultimately beat the game and became the Pokémon Master and climbed up a mountain to get your ass handed to you by Red (which they really need to play with that gimmick more lol)

Now it just feels soulless…

Which is really ironic bc yeah that’s kind of how the world is rn, there’s not much motivation to go out and explore bc like the OP said everything seems like it’s already been done or explored or modernized, always connected and never alone.

Niantic, what’s with the anemic spawns during special events?

I was trying to do the slopoke timed research yesterday. One of the requirements was to catch five of the guys. Fine; they’re everywhere right now and I have six hours to finish.

Except I was riding in a car on an errand so I couldn’t stop just anywhere and grind through the challenge.

By the time I got to my destination, they had all despawned. No problem, four hours and change left to catch up, right? I’ll just get my berry and nice throw requirements out of the way.

Nope. I didn’t see another one for the rest of the day. I used three incenses just hoping they would make a random spawn that would happen to be in my favor. Nope.

Niantic, why bother making the event several hours long if completing it is only feasible right at the very beginning? I get that you’re trying to encourage gameplay, but for those of us with more structured schedules, it’s just a repetitive disappointment.

Kakuna -> Cotana: Coccoon (a shell constructed by a butterfly or moth larva as it metamorphosizes) + Katana (Japanese single-edged longsword)

Pidgeot -> Harriaero: Harrier (a type of bird of prey) + Aero (prefix meaning "air")

Ekans -> Cobrattle: Cobra (a type of snake) + Rattle (an object filled with snall pellets in order to produce a sound, from which rattlesnakes get their name)

Slowpoke -> Slopoke: Removed the W to make it more credible as a portmanteau involving "sloth"; Slowbro and Slowking would become Slobro and Sloking respectively to match

Farfetch'd -> Mallicious: Mallard (a type of duck) + Delicious (tasty); also sounds like "malicious" (ill-intentioned)

Seel -> Geyseal: Geyser (a hotspot of water which occasionally shoots a pillar of boiling water upward) + Seal (semiaquatic, fin-footed mammal)

Grimer -> Slunge: Sludge (viscous, dirty substance) + Grunge (grime) / Lunge (aggressive forward leap)

Muk -> Slunder: Sludge (see Slunge) + Thunder (to emit a loud rumble) / Asunder (separated, often violently)

Onix -> Boader: Boa (a type of snake) + Boulder (big rock)

this has taken me. 3 hours. there are a lot more that i wanted to do, but some of them i tried and failed to come up with names for, and the others i decided to just exclude because of how long this already took me

TIP: trying to sleep while under the effevts of caffeine may cause the need to come up with modern style portmanteau names for the weirdly named gen 1 pokemon
