“My wife and I are late to the Heartland party. We found it 4 months ago. We both loved it. Horses, mountains, acting, stories. But as time went on I started to sour on it. I quit it twice. At the end of season 4 and 8. I noticed that time went on the writers turned Amy in to a self centered person who has no idea of what true loyalty means. Not that Ty wasn’t an idiot at times. But season 2 she played Caleb and Ty against each other. Ty screwed up leaving without say goodbye. She said later she didn’t  know why but if you look over her shoulder when found note you can see it was a full page of explanation. Then Ty comes back with a bloodied face and she sees his body covered with black and blues but all she wants to know is why he didn’t call. Then she gets mad because of her ego she can’t see that Ty’s father screwed his head up. In season 3 she gets sleazy and lets Chase put his hand on her upper thigh and leave it there. She finished it by cheating with Chase. Ty screwed up not telling her Blair kissed him but when she finds out she forgot how kind Ty was to her when she cheated on him. She puts salt in the wound when the first person she calls is Chase right in front of him. She stabs her best friend in the back by going on a date with Chase. She gets sued because she listened to Chase who turns his back on her. The writers end the season with her saying she liked him a “little”. The truth is if it wasn’t for Soraya she would have gone with Chase. The season ends with her forgiving Ty and holds his hand. Really. In season 6 she tells Ty she wants to wait but doesn’t say why. It becomes obvious when she’s with Chase again. who she greets with it’s great to see you even after he turned his back on her. And she cheated on Ty with. She still can’t say no to him. Once she sees he’s married then she’s ready to get engaged. After that she meets her next love, Ahmed. She says he kissed her but in the video she had plenty of time to stop him. That’s why she didn’t tell Ty. After Ahmed she decides to finally settle for her fall back guy Ty. I know Ty was an asshole at times leaving twice. Coming home with Blair but the writers ruined this girl. Now she seems to have settled and lost her sparks. I know it sounds hypocritical but I still watch it with my wife. Can’t give up everything else.“

One of my all time favorite scenes. Also one of the things missing from recent seasons is using skits like these to lighten things up a bit.
Mine too (and that mug scene with Jack/Lou/Mallory/Lisa). I agree, I miss humor like this!

(Pt. 1) Dear UPTV,I am hearing rumors that UP will no longer be airing Heartland. As soon as I find out that is true, I will be doing whatever I have to do to drop UP from my cable package. If Time Warner doesn't offer a way out of it I will be cutting them loose as well. The reality crap you are pushing is like fingernails on a chalkboard to me and everyone else I know who has tried to stomach a full episode. (Continued)
I was waiting for the second part of this to come through, but I think it’s safe to say that it was probably eaten.

Thank you...

That was a nice beginning to a good story. I am looking forward to seeing where you will take us and what we will learn about Caleb that we didn’t already know. : Steve

As Oliver Twist once said, “Please, sir, can I have some more?” This is a gorgeous, introspective piece about Caleb. You’ve accomplished your mission here. You’ve made me take a deeper look at him, and I really like what I see. I really enjoyed Caleb and Ash as a couple, yet it never occurred to me that he might avoid Maggie’s Diner because of all the memories that place might hold for him. Well done!

Well worth a read you guys! I love this, well done, you should be proud of this. I hope we get more, it’s nice to see some more Caleb

I'm so touched by all your kind words, I can't begin to thank you. I'm actually lost for words. I really hope that you enjoy the next couple of chapters I have lined up, as it may not be the story you would be expecting involving Caleb but I've always been an "outside of the box thinking" sort of person ;)

So many individuals believe they have a “right to express themselves” anonymously regarding other people’s work without having to justify anything to anyone, or doing anything constructive on their own, so they think. What the world sees, whether they can back up their opinions or not, is a cry for help from someone who must feel so insecure about themselves that anonymity is their only courage. It must be a sad life for them.
That’s what I’ve been telling myself as well.

That was only yesterday....in my mind anyway, the ultimate fan day with good people who were friends before we even met.
It really doesn’t feel like almost two years ago...

Those few days in Alberta were some of the best, weren't they? Thanks to everyone there for the memories.
This video really took me back! It’s always nice to go back mentally, what a time we had :)

Something to consider about changing Heartland's approach to gather a fresher demographic is that for every established stale statistic like me that they have lost, they will need to gain one of those new statistics back just to break even. They need 2 new ones to get ahead. If they couldn't get it done with what they built over 10 seasons what makes them think they can replace the fans they are losing 2 to 1 with this new updated target audience? - Steve

Wait a minute.... You said NEXT time you post a picture of Bob? Oh, God, there's more? - Steve
I should probably queue a picture for you every day just to show you that I believe that you can overcome your anger! I’d call it Steve’s Bob Corner.

I’m working on my listening skills. It helps if I agree with what you are saying, though. Could that be the number one problem with most of us? Ha!
That’s very true! And honestly, you are a great listener, that I know of :)

Don't forget Ty (and Amy) having to cover his expenses to Mongolia, at least the first time if not the second as well, then the apparent year long recovery after the tick incident and him taking off from the clinic. Canadian's get healthcare and I don't know about any welfare type of program, but if you aren't working then finances tend to go negative anywhere you live. How is anybody buying this stuff?
heartlandmusings replied to your post “pt1) I keep seeing people making the assumption that if something were...”
I don't know about the 1st trip, but they made a point of saying the 2nd trip to Mongolia would be paid for. No idea if or how much they were paid on top of that.
Yeah, I was about to say what heartlandmusings said about the second trip, but I wonder, while Amy was pregnant and barely worked, did she use some of their savings for things she needed?

“This might seem unduly harsh but I just rewatched 11:1 and saw 11:17 Sunday and I get the distinct impression that Ty doesn’t quite get the the concept that apparently you have to actually work shifts to make money. Seriously, if you can’t afford the truck in Episode 1 how do you think you were going to afford the house in Episode 17 ? I also have a funny feeling that Amy pays the bills.“

Did you happen to notice in the clip you used in your #16 Heartland Experience video showing Amy running the horses under the gate at the ranch entrance that there is no Heartland sign hanging above the driveway where it is supposed to be? That has to be a blooper, I would think. As for location, I will take seeing your lovely face talking about Heartland anywhere you choose to film it. It's almost like having a conversation, except for the I'm not eally there part. Oh well.... - Steve
Yeah, I noticed that the first take doesn’t have it, but then the second one does. I wonder if someone went: “Uhm, guys, who forgot to put the sign up? Let’s take a reshoot!” but then they said: “You know what; I kind of like the one without the sign... We should use it, I don’t think anyone will notice”, but... they should have known better, haha! Or, I think they do know (after all, even the recent interview with Trevor Smith and Chris Smith said “Heartland fans will pick up on the smallest change, so we’re always aware of what they might be thinking. We have to ask ourselves, ‘Are they going to buy it?’”).
Haha, well, wouldn’t that be a first time you’d listen? ;) Just kidding!

slong549 replied to your post “IMO, people can think it’s shitty" to blame the actresses/actors, and...”
Another thing, I agree having all age groups represented is ideal if a show is sold as a family show but if you compromise quality stories for the sake of sprinkling in mandatory “kid stuff” then maybe there is no point to the story in the first place. Katie’s role was much better recently and worth the time to explore, but now she has left for the states too? Another character bites the dust and everything they built for her character apparently disappears unless she is recast. What now?
Yeah, I’m not saying it’s a good idea, but I’m trying to understand what could possibly be a reason to take out two big players like that because from fans’ POV, it doesn’t make sense. I wish we’d know how much feedback CBC actually gets to see and how aware they are about the fans’ reactions to the past few seasons. They must have seen the ratings, so it must’ve raised questions, at least. Also, now that Lou is out so much, they “can write out” Katie more easily as well, but it’s such a major loss to suddenly have three members of a family gone (whether people like them or not), storywise it’s just too much.

If there is anything about the show that has maintained or improved it's status in recent years it is with it's cinematography. The drone shots showcasing Alberta's scenery are a spectacular addition to already impressive work and they draw me into still wanting to spend more time there. It has been said that the background elements of Heartland are like another main character and that is absolutely true. In fact, the scenery is probably now my favorite character, all things considered. - Steve
It’s so breathtaking!
