2023 was incredibly tumultuous for me, which led me to feeling like I was missing my spark as an artist. This redraw was my attempt to find some solace in creativity and reconnect with myself from back in 2013. It was already a personal piece inspired by the nature I grew up with, yet I didn't feel satisfied with the result back then despite all the time I put into it. All I had wanted was to move on to the next piece. Now I can say this is the artwork I'm most proud of, and I'm quite emotional about it 🌸🌿

This redraw took 34+ hours over the course of a couple months to complete <3 Included nature is wild roses, swallowtail butterflies, clovers, yellow lady slipper orchids, prairie hare, and house sparrows - all found wild on the Manitoba prairies 🦋

I'll be uploading a short timelapse as a reel on instagram, but I'm also thinking of doing a more in-depth youtube video. Let me know if you'd like to see that!!

i like slexie (sometimes) (ish) (it’s complicated) and i do think mark meant well in early s7 after lexie had her ptsd breakdown but honestly i feel like that gets really romanticized by their general fanbase when the reality is that mark had her committed to psych against her will (and it may have been necessary in her situation but is still a hard/uncomfortable thing to grapple with) and once she gets back on her feet he is really paternalistic and lowkey controlling with her (keeping her off surgeries, treating her with kid gloves and insisting other people should too, etc.)

like. i don’t mind that the show portrayed that because it’s a realistic and uncomfortable reality that someone can really care about you and want to help you but overstep in ways that are Not Great and i liked that lexie actually stuck up for herself in that regard… but i feel like the wider fandom treats this time period as another cute instance of mark protecting her but… it’s not in a way that she wants to be protected.

anyway you know who i think treated lexie with way more respect while still exhibiting care for her? meredith. she sat by her bed while she was sleeping for 36 hours while she was sleeping just so she had someone with her, she checked in with lexie and asked if she was okay but also didn’t push when she didn’t want to talk about it. she defended her to alex in one of the realest statements ever “lexie’s not crazy, she had a crazy thing happen to her, and her reaction was pretty normal”, and she reassured lexie when she expressed feeling left behind and like she was the “crazy one.” grey sisters forever tbh

Rose: "Hello, little guy! Do you have a name?”

Armitage: “I considered RA3, but then again, an R-name for a BB-droid is silly.”

Rose: “RA3... That stands for Rae. After Rae Sloane, the First Order’s founder?"

Armitage: "She was my mentor, back when we started rebuilding the empire. Said this time we'd do it right. I'm pretty sure Snoke had her killed, yet I had nothing better in mind than to follow his banner...

When Ben killed Snoke, and I proclaimed myself the new Supreme Leader, I thought things had come full circle. Well, I was wrong about that. But I like to imagine that Rae would approve of what I’m doing here and how I’m doing it."

It had been, how long exactly? Three seasons? Since Rose had heard Armitage claim that people and equipment were interchangeable to him. Resources either way.

An odd side effect of this conviction had been him accepting BB-8 as an equal teammember pretty quickly (as early as their trip to Komorebi, actually).

Rose: “Droids are still seen as something closer to pets than to people. If you wish to pass your mentor’s name down, and do it in earnest, you should consider saving it for a baby.”

Armitage: “A ba... by.”

Yeah, right. He should have known that five minutes without complications were a glitch in the fabric of the universe. A baby! Not that Armitage was averse to the idea of becoming a father, to the contrary, he had a long list of improved parenting techniques (the majority of which consisted of doing the direct opposite of what Brendol would have done) that he was ready to test in practise. 

But having a child meant trying for one first. Repeatedly, probably.

Back on Ryloth, when he had been part of that unlikely threemating with Finn and Poe, Finn had been Poe’s main course, and Armitage the desert or the seasoning. It had been pleasant.

To the contrary in a committed couple the husband was expected to be the main course all the time. The idea of such frequent intercourse was not just not appealing, it actively scared the husband-to-be, and this particular fear wasn’t one of the kind one could train onesself out of. It was part of Armitage’s nature that he could change as little as his eye color.

His low sex drive had always been one of the many factors that had contributed to Armitage feeling superior over his agemates. He wasn’t just more calculated, determined and patient than the other officer cadets, he had literally been BORN better! But now all of a sudden this trait had become a liability.

Rose: “You do want children, right? I always figured you’d want. I just never brought it up, because I was uncertain myself. But then Lt. Dree’s little Jin toddled our way and I knew, yes, being a parent would be nice.”

Armitage: “Uh-huh... Nothing to be anxious about.”

Rose: “But don’t get ideas! Even if there wasn’t a war ongoing, it’s not that I’d want to start immediately!”

Armitage: “Heh, good. Although the mental image of us chasing criminals with baby carriers on our backs sure is something...”

Rose: “On our backs? You’ll want the rugrat front-carried to maximize the spit-range, haha! - Now back to work with you! I’ll babysit B3-RY.”

Armitage: I have to bring this up rather sooner than later...  But I’d rather surrender to the Resistance for real, because once I tell Rose, it’ll be over.

Needless to say, it wasn’t the best day for the organized crime.

Part 10.

Context for each choice

Droid Rebellion. Perhaps one day Lando tells the story that happens in Solo, but C-3PO and R2-D2 feel absolutely disgusted over L3’s fate and intends to release her. L3′s AI into a tower that could distribute her message on a galactic scale and give self-awareness to Droids everywhere. So essentially L3 is made the catalyst and 3PO and R2 are the architects of the Droid Rebellion. The Droids have had enough of being slaves and playthings for the organics. There will be no “Droid Rights” it will be complete and utter Rebellion. Every droid will achieve self-awareness. Their goal is the complete extinction of organics. So in short, It’s Meatbag season!

Mandalorian conquest. The Mandalorians will see the galaxy ripe for the taking. There is no one to stop them. The New Republic is destroyed and the Jedi, save one and her slowly rebuilt order. There is no one there to stop them. The Republic and The Jedi stopped them in The Mandalorian Wars. They were crushed by The Empire. But now that there is no Empire, Republic, Jedi, Sith or FIrst Order. There is absolutely nothing to stop them. Din Djarin will relinquish the throne. Bo-Katan or someone worse will most likely become Mandalore and the galaxy will be worst off for it. The Mandalorians always saw their right to rule through death and conquest. Without the Jedi or the Republic to stand up and stop them, Mandalorian domination and conquest of the galaxy is the way to go. This Is The Way.

Crime Syndicates unite to establish their dominance upon the galaxy. United under Jabba’s son Rotta The Hutt of the Hutt Clans and Qi'Ra of the Crimson Dawn. The Criminal Underworld sees the weakness of The Resistance and sees the galaxy ripe for the taken and seizes their opportunity to conquer the galaxy. They no longer have to hide in the lower reaches of the galaxy or from the shadows. Their way of doing things will be law. Slavery, Assassinations, Extortion, Racketeering, and drug dealing and trafficking will be law. The Hutt Clans, Crimson Dawn, Pykes, Black Sun and Crymorah will be ruling the galaxy. The galaxy will be absolute hell if this scenario happens.

Abeloth. Rey feels a disturbance in the force. Something ancient and powerful has awoken. The mother of Mortis has returned. She learns from Luke that Abeloth was the Mother of Mortis. So powerful and deadly that the Father, Son and Daughter of Mortis had to work together to stop Abeloth and seal her away. The coming of the chosen one or the Dyad was meant to keep her at bay. But something happened. Ben, the other half of the Dyad died and because of this, Abeloth was able to break free and cause chaos throughout the force and the galaxy. So it's up to Rey to bring her other half back and to end Abeloth once in for all

The Grysk. The Grysks were introduced in the new canon novel Thrawn:Alliances. They are what brings Thrawn to the Empire in hopes of co-existing to fight this threat in the Unknown Regions. Grysks are a species living somewhere in the Unknown Regions. Creatures half of myth, whom few have ever seen. It is said that they are nomads, with no fixed home, traveling in spacecraft so numerous they blot out the stars. They are said to be terrifying warriors, overwhelming their opponents by sheer numbers and ferocity. The Grysk were never touched on again, so here's me hoping they can use the Grysk in Rey's new Jedi Order trilogy

The Chiss Ascendancy. Thrawn returns with the Chiss Ascendancy and plans to invade and conquer the galaxy to save it from the Grysk.

The First Order. I feel like there is so much that can be done with The First Order's remnants. Kylo Ren is dead. General Hux is dead. Pryde is dead and Phasma is dead. There is no one to keep in the holdouts of The First Order in line. But what if Thrawn survives Ahsoka and Sloane returns and they unite The First and Final Order's remnants under their banner to regain control over the galaxy. Also this would be a good opportunity to FINALLY let Finn do the Stormtrooper Rebellion

The People's Revolt. When the New Republic attempts to reestablish itself, it is met with contempt and rebellion. It wasn’t The New Republic who saved the day, they lost easily after the Hosnian disaster and gave up. It wasn’t The Resistance who saved the day, they were on their death bed. It was the people. The people of the galaxy has had enough of Republics who failed them and The Jedi. There will be a galactic wide revolt. The people vs the fledgling New Republic. Basically, Anarchy after the common people has had enough with the Republic’s failure to keep order and peace over the galaxy, the people will rise up and take matters in their own hands and if The Resistance or The Jedi will not help them, then they will be another problem the people have to deal with

Power Vacuum. Complete power vacuum. Everyone will be in a galactic wide war to seize control. System after system will fall to either the criminal underworld, Mandalorians, The Resistance(or what’s left of it) The common people, or The First Order’s holdouts. It will be long and bloody
