I've recently played Slay the Princess lately, and have decided to give Jaune the ultimate technique - The Look(tm)
----
Jaune, panting heavily: Boy's... It's been a good run.
Sun, also panting heavily: Come on now, we're all still breathing man. We got this!
Oscar: Yeah..! We just gotta keep our heads held high, and we can see tommorow!
Ren: Agreed
Salem: Gone mad have you? Don't worry, your deaths shall be swift.
Jaune: No, it's not that. I got one more trick up my sleeve.
Salem: Oh?
Sun: "One more trick"...? Wait-
Oscar: No, you mustn't!
Ren: You don't know what might happen of you use that!
Salem: I suggest listening to your allies fool, lest you wish to die tired.
Jaune: Sorry guys, but I gotta try. I'll see you on the other side. *Flashes Salem The Look(tm)*
------------------------------------------------------
Voice of the Knight: The Look?
Voice of the Ninja: The Look. We've all used it.
Voice of the Stowaway: Yeah, do you not know about The Look?
Voice of the Farmer: Even I know about The Look.
Ugh... Jaune flashes The Witch The Look. ...and a rosy blush rushes to The Witch's cheeks as she breaks into a wide grin. Unbelievable.
The Witch: Oh, is that how it is? Yeah, okay. I feel that. I like you, too. Neat!
Voice of the Stowaway: I'll be damned. This is actually going to work, isn't it?
The Witch: I'm still going to kill you, but now we can both enjoy a mutual, romantic subtext to the murder.
Voice of the Knight: Or not.
Voice of the Farmer: At least she likes us. I've never been liked before.
Blush still glowing in her cheeks, The Witch closes the distance between you, blades flashing. She skewers you.
Voice of the Knight: Ow.

VERSES .
⚘ verse — do you believe in god / i do please stop there’s so much blood
canon . Unwilling acolyte of the Deep, corralled to the cathedral among a sorry stream of men, women, children.  Anri does not remember what came before the long march along the Road of Sacrifices.  Saint Aldrich is the beginning and he is insatiable, he eats endlessly, he bloats and swells.  Anri befriends other children in the course of her domestic and ecclesiastical duties.  They pray for salvation, but no hero comes to their rescue.  Hollow-eyed child, she watches as those she loves are consumed live, one by one, split like pomegranates on the altar while the monstrous choir sings and chants.  It was Horace’s idea that they flee.  In the end, they are the only ones to escape, to outrun the hunters and their hounds. They alone are the sole survivors of Aldrich’s grim appetite.
⚘ verse — teach me the art of small steps
canon . It is chance that sees their paths cross with that of Ryland of Astora.  Stowaways on the sea crossing, their fare paid by a greying knight to keep them from trouble.  He takes them under his wing, under his noble tutelage.  Together, they travel a war-stricken world, they grow accustomed to the weight of weapons in hand, they drink deep from the cup of honour and heroism.  When they are ready, they venture into the smouldering heart of Ryland’s motherland and slay the dark spirit that destroyed Astora.  The battle costs Ryland his life, and with his passing Anri dons his armour.  To those she meets thereafter, she will say she is of Astora, drawn as she is to its history of gallantry and courage, to its current state of desolation.  To drive back the growing dark, she offers herself to link the Flame – but her sacrifice is rejected.  She is deemed unworthy kindling, and she burns for nothing.  Loyal Horace follows her into the fire, together in death as life, and their ash is carried on the same wind.
⚘ verse — i thought even the bones would do
canon . Anri awakens in the untended graves, crawling from the earth with ash thick in her throat.  She is raised from the dead, remade as a Lordseeker.  In a world that rings empty, that is haunted by hollows, she looks to fulfil her purpose – to destroy the resurrected Saint Aldrich and avenge the children she once knew.  Horace is at her side as they take the Road of Sacrifices to the Cathedral of the Deep, though they will not find Aldrich there.  No, he waits beyond Irithyll, in the pale city that was once home of the gods.
⚘ verse — every body is a book of blood
bloodborne . A Blood Saint and custodian of the Orphanage.  Anri bleeds herself dry to bolster those brave and fierce enough to drive back the beastly scourge.  Covered in track marks, she tends to the children, she loves them true.  A low-ranking servant of the Healing Church, she knows not what fate awaits the children in her care, not privy to the machinations and horror of the Choir’s ambition.
⚘ verse — can i hope to become / when a lone lamb can’t be salvaged
modern . Anri owns and runs a flower shop, living a thrifty and simple life. She loves her friends and serves her community, frequently gifting bouquets to hospitals and homes for the elderly. In her spare time, she volunteers as a cuddler in the local neonatal intensive care unit. Beneath her wholesome veneer, there is trauma she dares not speak – that she and Horace are survivors of the Catholic care system.
⚘ verse — love is what sits at the core of the world
ancient greece . A verse inspired by but not limited to Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey.  Anri is a priestess Aphrodite, a caretaker of her goddess’ temple in Korinthia.  There she participates in sacred processions, public prayers, holy feasts in which the people present dine in the presence of divinity.  For a small fee, she may also officiate at private rituals.
⚘ verse — a lamb without blemish and without spot
far cry 5 . Expelled from the care system into a world that threatens to swallow her whole, Anri brims with the need to believe she is still good, that she is someone worth saving. A perfect target, for a cult. Anri is drawn to the Project at Eden’s Gate and its promise of belonging, of a better future. By the time the violence breaks out, she is in too deep, and sickens at the horror playing out all around.
⚘ verse — life is the flower for which love is the honey
stardew valley . It was a bid she did not imagine would be accepted. The sum total of meagre savings, staked on an abandoned homestead. With its acceptance, Anri begins a new chapter in the countryside, and learns – through trial and error and plenty of tears – how to manage her smallholding. She makes a humble living selling flower honey, fresh eggs and seasonal blooms. This verse can be tweaked to exist in a real-world rural setting.
⚘ verse — you’ve never tasted such sweetness
game of thrones / house of the dragon . An orphan of the Reach, wed young. Her husband – a man of humble farming stock – passes away a few short years into their union. Newly widowed, Anri uproots to King’s Landing. There, she frequents the city’s septs, praying to the Mother for protection and guidance, drawn to her as someone motherless, as someone yet to bear children. Anri becomes a caretaker for the destitute, tending the sick and wounded, using a knowledge of botanicals she learned in the plum-sweet shadow of Highgarden. After all, common folk never fail to suffer during wars of the nobility.
⚘ verse — the flowers that bloom tomorrow are the seeds you planted today
cyberpunk 2077 . OPTION 1 : Orphaned at a young age, Anri is taken in by an elderly florist who teaches her the art of growing and arranging flowers – a precious skill in a world where nature is almost extinct. Her rooftop garden is her pride and joy, and using it she is able to create herbal remedies and minor medicinal concoctions. Trouble is, the corporate world also sees value in her work, imagining its medicinal and chemical applications. OPTION 2 : In the aftermath of orphanhood, and a youth spent in care, Anri trains as a nurse and finds work in one of Night City’s underfunded medical facilities. After seeing the healthcare system manipulated by megacorporations, she chooses to leave to provide care on her terms, operating an underground clinic for those who can’t afford corporate-controlled hospitals. As an experienced nurse, Anri has expertise in trauma care, cyberware repairs and basic surgical procedures. She is a firm believer that every life is worth saving.
⚘ verse — between vertical light and darkened sky
A Court of Thorns and Roses . Anri is the product of an unfortunate coupling between a member of the High Fae and a Peregryn. The precise details of her origins are unknown to her as she is abandoned as a babe, raised in the healing houses of the Dawn Court. While her half-breed status sets her apart – leaving her to walk tentatively between the world of the lordly High Fae and the lesser Peregryns – she is taught the art of the apothecary. It isn’t until she reaches adulthood that it is realised her strengths may be better served elsewhere. It is resilience and discipline, a flair for combat along with the desire to protect and honour, that sees Anri become a guardian, a knight of the dawn-kissed realm.

Doctor, spoken: Perhaps you could sing me a song about it?
(instrumental begins)
Doctor, spoken: Thank you
MERRIWEATHER, sung: I'm Jasper's man, his Caliban.
His to control, he owns my soul.
For Captain Red, I'd strike you dead.
You'd have to go, be you friend or foe.
As Red's First Mate I subjugate,
Or pulverate each man ingrate.
Each man ingrate.
DOCTOR, spoken: Only following orders. That's the oldest excuse in the book. You're just a killer.
SALLY, spoken: Just a killer.
EVELYN, spoken: Sally-
SALLY, sung: Not how I planned, blood on my hand,
I take the blame, I bear the shame,
I bear the shame to know this hurt was just dessert,
It is my curse, can get no worse,
My hurt is deep, won't let me sleep,
I can't go on, my future's gone.
DOCTOR, sung: I heard one day a gentleman say that sorrow is the price we pay.
The cost of care is most unfair.
For all you've lost, your loss brings quite a cost.
But better yet to know regret.
There's no defence for malice prepense.
(all three repeat their above verses over one another.)
SALLY: And so I know I'm ready to go.
I'll make the leap to slumber deep,
No more to weep,
For youth I'll keep, eternal sleep,
Just let me sleep.
MERRIWEATHER: And so, although they don't want to go,
I must obey, for Red I slay
Each stowaway and those who stray,
I won't betray, I must obey.
DOCTOR: Look in my eye and then you'll spy
In front of you, a doctor who.
Through his purview he tells you true, don't bid adieu,
He's suffered too.
Merriweather, (Sally), (Doctor): I must obey. (Just let me sleep.) (Don't bid adieu, I've suffered too.) I must obey. (Just let me sleep.) (Don't bid adieu, I've suffered too.) I must obey. (Just let me sleep.) (Don't bid adieu, I've suffered too.) I must obey. (Just let me sleep.) (Don't bid adieu, I've suffered too.) I must obey, I must obey. (Just let me sleep, just let me sleep.) (Don't bid adieu, I've suffered too.)

Spirit Animals: Blood Ties (Reread pt. 3)
DISCLAIMER: WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS FOR BOOKS ONE THROUGH SEVEN.
Masterpost
Chapter 1
Okay, so Meilin was a stowaway on a boat and a caravan.
I wonder if Meilin could’ve tried to climb the bamboo stalks . . .
Didn’t Jhi live in the forest as a Great Beast? Shouldn’t she know the way out?
Chapter 2
“Abeke was patient with people as well as animals . . . ” (7). There are so many ellipses in this book, like how the last one had so many italics. This is one example.
“‘We’re going to try scaling the mast again, using Arax’s talisman . . . ’” (7). Why didn’t they use Arax’s talisman during the second mission?
“‘I thought it was Abeke’s turn to go first,’ said Rollan” (8). Again, this is like how the others were to Abeke at the beginning of Hunted. This is just practice??? It’s just going to get him scolded.
. . . Although I guess it makes sense considering he's probably twelve.
“‘I am sure there will be news of one of the other Great Beasts when we get back to Greenhaven . . . ’” (8). They’re going to Greenhaven??? Why???
“They had been on a scouting mission for a week . . . ” (12). Oh okay, so that’s why they’re not at Greenhaven.
“‘What about shadow puppets?’ suggested Conor . . . ‘Sheep puppets!’ exclaimed Rollan, as though he’d never heard anything more ridiculous” (13). Hey, don’t knock Conor’s great idea. It’s actually a solid plan.
“‘I’ll do whatever it takes’” (14). Slay.
Chapter 3
“But at least he’d stopped thinking about Meilin” (17). Yeah, keep telling yourself that.
Why couldn’t they have rowed to shore, again? Are they trying to be discreet?
Oh wait, it’s to avoid the fish traps, isn’t it.
Rollan can now see through Essix’s eyes. Slay.
“He wasn’t going to wait around for any more of Conor’s hopeless ideas” (20). Like the puppet one?
“‘Poison! Poison!’” (22). I don’t remember Rollan’s distraction in the slightest.
Chapter 4
“Tarik handed over three small silver coins, carefully chosen to be from Eura, Zhong, and Amaya” (24). Eura for Conor obviously . . . but Abeke and Tarik are both Niloan, right? Also, does that mean Erdas has universal currency? That’s pretty cool.
“Rollan made a rolling gesture with his hand, one way and then the other” (25). The only reason I remember this from my first time through is because we use this one where I’m from, too.
“They traded Amayan and Niloan hand signals as they wove through the crowd” (26). Rollan and Abeke and Conor and Abeke friendships are really taking off in this book.
“ . . . she recognized the look of hate in [the stall owner’s] eyes . . . ” (26). Aren’t they supposed to be avoiding attention?
“The whole place was an enemy camp!” (29). I see we’re back to the excessive use of exclamation points.
Chapter 5
“ . . . Conor felt a twinge of jealousy. The puppets were his idea” (31). He’s not wrong. Rollan knocked his idea, then hijacked it. That’s a bit hypocritical.
“‘I know what you meant’” (34). Conor’s all hey, that’s mean.
I don’t remember Rollan being this mean to Conor . . .
Wow, Conor gets help from a tiny child. I didn’t remember that . . .
Chapter 6
Meilin is finally listening to Jhi.
“How long, she wondered in weary desperation, until they started considering her food?” (39). Can’t she just eat them instead?
“She had lost track of the days” (39). It can’t have been that long, or she would’ve died of thirst.
“There were so many of them, growing fat on the fallen flowers while she starved” (40). Is there a reason she can’t eat the flowers? I know she can't eat the bamboo itself, but the flowers . . . ?
“It was all she could do not to double over and fall piteously to true ground” (42). That lowkey would’ve been hilarious.
“‘My name is . . . You can call me Xue’” (43). Is that not her real name? This is kind of suspicious.
“‘Rat and bamboo shoots’” (43). So you can eat the rats!
Chapter 7
“‘With the enemy . . . ’ Conor started to say. ‘Yes,’ said Abeke quietly. ‘Though I didn’t know it’” (47). Aw, Conor’s still going on about that? I thought this was behind them.
“‘Stop being sorry!’ . . . Conor opened his mouth to say something, probably sorry again, then shut it and nodded firmly” (52). I believe in Abeke and Conor relationship supremacy.
Chapter 8
“‘They do not bond with spirit animals, with or without Nectar’” (54). How is that even possible? Isn't it random chance?
It is at this point that I realized I remember almost nothing from this book.
The rhino riders seem like a cool concept, but it still makes no sense how they don’t have spirit animals.
TARIK RUNS INTO THE JUNGLE???
Chapter 9
“‘Jhi knows the way?’ asked Meilin. ‘I told her while you slept’” (63). It would’ve been interesting if they had just said that Jhi had her memory from her Great Beast years, because that's where she lived as a Great Beast.
“Other workers were dragging the fallen bamboo back to huge piles that were probably going to be burned” (64). Why aren’t the Conquerors just burning the maze? That would be faster and take less effort.
“They carried whips as well as their weapons, and used them whenever the workers slowed down” (64). So the workers aren’t Conquerors? Are they slaves?
Jhi! Can! Weave!
“The corporal didn’t keep his anger in check” (69). This guy is hilarious.
Oof, Meilin gets sent away as soon as her father sees her.
“‘The enemy has found us too swiftly for it to be an accident’” (74). So does this mean Gerathon knows where Meilin is and somehow . . . alerted the Conquerors??? How did she alert them? Or maybe she just controlled them into attacking?
Also does that mean General Teng suspects that the Bile he gave to Meilin has negative consequences???
Chapter 10
“‘I am Conor,’ said Conor. ‘Of nowhere in particular’” (80). What about Trunswick? His shepherd home? Eura, maybe? Also, is this the first major sign that Conor doesn’t see Eura as a home anymore?
“Perhaps that would make up for the mess Conor was making” (81). Everyone’s so hard on Conor in this book. Also, the kids should definitely have been prepared for this kind of a situation.
Tarik somehow comes back pretending to be a rhino rider? I don’t remember this . . . also how??? Did he strip a defeated rhino rider down?
“‘I . . . made a mistake,’ said Meilin. ‘I shouldn’t have left, Conor’” (86). Meilin and Conor really should have more bonding moments where Conor isn’t too intimidated to talk to her.
Chapter 11
“These are no spirit animals! thought Conor . . . ” (91). Then what are they? They wouldn’t attack unless they were being commanded to by a human, right?
“‘Is it just me, or are they having too much fun?’” (93). Someone should write a fic about Tarik and Lishay.
“What if Meilin’s return wasn’t enough to heal the breach between them?” (93). So this is about Meilin leaving, not the Iron Boar?
“‘Toward the sign of the Elephant’s Trunk, see?’” (94). I wonder if the Great Beasts’ locations have anything to do with the constellations . . .
Chapter 12
“‘Blo doo hi’’ he whispered. It took her a moment to work out what he’d said, ‘So do I’” (98). The way they put quotes around the interpretation is so strange in terms of syntax.
“Sometimes he could be so annoying. . . . ” (99). Rollan and Meilin annoying each other once again reigns supreme.
Is there anything Xue doesn’t have in her pack?
“She hadn’t really ever had any friends before” (104). That kind of goes for all four of them.
Chapter 13
Funny how they slept almost directly under the banana gourd trees.
“‘The flock . . . there was a . . . ’ His eyes fell on Briggan, and he reached out to hug the wolf” (106). Conor’s still having nightmares about wolves???
“‘It’s going to slow us down for sure’” (107). So the snarevine bushes are in a maze around the gourd trees? Can’t they just hack through them, then? Jumping would be faster, though.
“Just thinking of him so far below made her falter” (110). New headcanon: Abeke is scared of heights.
Also, isn’t one of the Ram’s powers a light fall? So even if she falls, she should be okay, right? (I might be wrong.)
“ . . . and she was on her way, climbing back down . . . ” (112). Again, couldn’t she just jump down? The Ram would help her, wouldn’t it?
“ . . . she slipped it over her head and knotted the chain to shorten it” (112). I like that she learns from her mistake. It makes her seem older than she is, though.
“‘I’ve got four!’ she shouted, tying them up in her shirt and buttoning her sailor’s jacket over the top” (113). This might seem nit-picky, but wouldn’t throwing them over the thorn bushes be better? That way, she doesn’t have to worry about losing them during her jump.
Chapter 14
“‘Hope!’ said Meilin. ‘Hoping won’t do anything’” (114). I agree with her, but it’s funny that Meilin was just willing to collect dung for Xue, but is now willing to cross her.
“If Xue was trying to talk her out of going by not talking her out of going, that simply wouldn’t work” (115). Meilin’s all Your reverse psychology won’t work on me!
Chapter 15
“Both Conor and Abeke simply couldn’t go any faster . . . ” (118). It’s funny how their animals can go faster, despite being on watch for the entire night.
“‘They don’t then bond with a human. They become enslaved monsters’” (120). Wow, I completely forgot what happened when the Bile was fed to animals.
Meilin is definitely having too much fun defeating these crocs.
Chapter 16
“Her throat felt full and tight with unexpected emotion” (126). *wiggles eyebrows*
ALL THE FOUR BONDING MOMENT CAN YOU HEAR ME HOLLERING???
Tarik and Lishay are late??? I can’t remember how they get reunited . . .
“‘I’m on holiday from the Greencloaks’” (131). Xue is iconic for not letting anybody cross her boundaries.
Oop, Tarik and Lishay are back.
Chapter 17
“Only Meilin rode silently. Rollan wondered if she was displaying less enthusiasm than the others in order to make him feel better” (136). Probably.
Rollan’s being passive-aggressive again.
Meilin FELL OFF A RHINO because she was ASLEEP???
“ . . . a snakehead lunged up out of the clear water . . . ” (139). I thought they couldn’t jump??? Lishay said they couldn't???
Chapter 18
I really don’t remember them shooting the elephant priests??? Huh.
“‘Serving Dinesh as a divine being. It has happened often with the Great Beasts, although they don’t encourage it, usually’” (147). Yeah, how come Dinesh is okay with this? Is it because he’s just lazy?
“‘We mean no harm!’” (148). Bro, you just shot three of them.
“ . . . Essix still calling out what sounded like falcon for bad words above his head” (150). Essix is cursing??? In a children's series??? No!
Chapter 19
“‘The Great Beasts and our talismans, we are two sides of one thing, fruit of the same tree . . . ’” (154). So their connection to their talismans is like the spirit animal bond???
“‘I will tell the people who have decided to be my priests to fight with you . . . ’” (154). I seriously don’t remember the priests being fighters.
I wonder if the elephant priests have spirit animals . . .
Ooooooh, Rollan didn’t take the talisman.
Chapter 20
“After their awkward start . . . ” (163). Definitely one way to describe shooting people in the leg.
I can’t remember if Xue appears in battle?
I don’t remember the elephant boulder either??? Well, I’ll add that to the list of things that I forgot about this book.
Meilin is back to her logical self. Slay.
“‘Together, right?’ . . . ‘Always’” (170). A truly sob-worthy moment.
“A huge man stood up on the crocodile’s back. He was armored in red mail, with a fanged helmet that hid his face” (171). How is he standing on the crocodile??? Also, pretty sure that’s not Shane, or maybe it is??? Can’t remember.
Okay, it really is Gar, Shane just appeared to save Abeke.
“The handsome boy who had blocked his own soldier’s attack to protect Abeke might be that reason” (173). Does Conor think Abeke has a crush on Shane???
Also Shane literally does not give two shits about his own soldiers, he protected Abeke, but that cost the soldier his life.
Chapter 21
“Suddenly the giant crocodile and its rider raged through the line of retreating Conquerors, crushing them under clawed foot without care” (175). Shane and Gar literally do not give two shits about their own fighters and it shows.
“Rollan grabbed Meilin around the waist and yanked her away” (177). Could’ve sworn Meilin was stronger than Rollan?
Xue is here! And! I don't remember this at all!
“‘We will conquer!’ hissed the crocodile’s rider” (179). This is literally so cringe, but it’s okay. At least not every line is like this.
"'Should have told you . . . betrayed . . . the Bile'" (180). Should have told you: pretty obvious what he meant. Betrayed, as in "I betrayed you"? "You were betrayed"? Context isn't clear. And then the Bile is also pretty clear.
“It was not true that a Zhongese soldier never cried” (180). Literally such a powerful line.
“Conor and Abeke hesitated, then joined their hands too, and all four of them looked at each other” (182). What are the mechanics of this? Are all four of them clasping hands? Or is it in, like, a chain?
Chapter 22
Jodoboda agreeing to fight with the Zhongese is also something I don’t remember.
“‘Just don’t give it away,’ said Conor” (185). HA.
“The left one was a white tiger, but it was faded, as if made by a ghost” (186). So if a spirit animal dies while its partner is still alive, it can still be brought into passive state in this ghost-ish form?
I still want to understand how you can get a dead someone else’s spirit animal. This isn’t ever explained any further, I think. That’d be a cool concept to explore, I figure.
Final thoughts and rating:
This one was a good one. Definitely enjoyed how everyone's backgrounds played into how quickly they forgave Conor. AND THE FIRST BONDING MOMENT BETWEEN ALL FOUR, I loved it, there's just so much healthy communication. I like the (tiny) character development that Jodoboda goes through after the battle, where he allows others to fight with the rhino riders. I like Xue's carefree personality. Also, the tiny show of how Gar and Shane don't care about their own soldiers at all really adds more bad qualities to their characters. Conor feeling negative emotions such as jealousy also help him feel more 3D.
I still think a more interesting way to go would've been to have Jhi retain some of her Great Beast memory. It would've made sense too, given that she lived there as a Great Beast. It would've been nice to get a concrete explanation for why the rhino riders never have spirit animals. Lishay says it's probably because they are all raised with a rhino, but Conor grew up with sheep and sheepdogs, and he still got a spirit animal??? That whole situation feels pretty strange.
Rating: 8/10

well…fascinating! There are some hits and misses, but hey, that’s part of the fun. It may even surprise you.
we never had a stowaway in the show…not exactly…so welcome aboard! Grab some cards and a few scraps of fabric! And if we come back from a raid with emotional damage, we talk it through…as a crew!
I am a GO season 1 fan, and I found OFMD really satisfying!
since I speak Good Omens, and OFMD, let me chime in without too many spoilers…
It is gay. Of this at least, I am very sure. Free Space! Gayest of the gayest gay!
There are pirates. The pirates are the above gays. (Not exactly.)
There is a guy named Ed who is Blackbeard, and he is very soft and shares trauma and has grey hair. (He’s like a Crowley, a demon with a heart of gold. He can be much worst than the reluctant bad boy Crowley, but sweet)
He is in love with Stede, who writes him bottle letters and throws them away. Bingo
Ed is not happy about the throwing away part. I think he wanted to read the letters. (Not exactly.)
They read the letters together. (Nope…I love the way Ed sees the letter)
There is a guy named Lucius and someone kisses him and they do a victory punch. They break up because of fish. (This is hilarious and mixed up, and wonderfully inaccurate)
Someone named Izzy has a redemption arc. (Yep i Love Izzy. He starts out like Hastur)
There are colonisers. They are British. This makes sense, at least. Bingo
The colonisers are not homophobic, they merely find love pathetic. (They’re not even looking at the lgbtq thing. But they are racists, and they hate pirates in general.)
In the 1600s male pirates married each other and that's where the term 'matey' originated. I do not know. This is what Pinterest yelled at me. (Mateologe…yep!)
Uh Ed pulled a Crowley on Stede and instead of Alpha Centauri asked him to run away to China with him. (Yep, only Stede wanted to go, but it scared him. Then something else scuttled that plan. Nothing coy about these two)
Stede ran away from him instead. Yep
Izzy was not a father figure to Ed. Discuss. It is something involving horniness and unrequited love. (It’s a point of contention. It was written in canon but imo it makes no sense. Ed is clearly the alpha. Aside: daddy issues all over this show!)
Izzy died. 😓
Ed was upset under a blanket. Stede respected this.
Ed built a blanket fort. Is this a running theme? (Not exactly. Although he sort of did blanket things a couple times)
I understood nothing more because I can't make out whether 'ship' refers to relationship or the actual fucking ship. What does 'Steve does fixing in the ship' MEAN IS THIS MARRIAGE COUNSELLING OR NAVAL ENGINEERING? (David Jenkins —our Neil—tweeted he would wreck our ship, and he kinda did, but he kinda didn’t)
EVEN THOUGH I UNDERSTOOD NOTHING, THIS SEEMS LIKE A GAY FUCKING DISASTER. RENEW IT. GO SLAY OFMD THE GOOD OMENS FANDOM IS BEHIND YOU.
it’s WONDERFUL! And lots of gay everything! “Woke and ghey” is how Jenkins described it.
Looking forward to you getting to watch it! You’re gonna love it!
our flag means death but i've never watched it
Hey OFMD fandom, the Ineffable fandom sends their Mascot. I was supposed to do this many days ago, but the OFMD tag on tumblr was filled with... things. This time, I gained my knowledge from Pinterest instead, and I, Asmi, of the Good Omens Fandom, am rooting for you all!
THAT BEING SAID. WHAT THE DEVIL IS THIS SHOW MEANT TO BE? AS USUAL, I UNDERSTAND ABSOLUTELY NOTHING DESPITE MY BEST EFFORTS, BUT TAKE A SUMMARY ANYWAY:
It is gay. Of this at least, I am very sure.

Skyrimverse: Character Summaries
It's been a while since I've posted actual content. I don't know if this would qualify as actual content, but it's... something. I'm a big fan of Skyrim and started playing it again recently, and it made me remember that I do have an AU for it. Yippeeeeeee.
The only reason Ink is a woman in this AU is because he needs to be a Daughter of Coldharbour for the plot.
Frisk: A native Nord of Skyrim who was born in the city of Helgen. They are believed to be the Last Dragonborn, destined to slay the fearsome Alduin and put an end to the threat posed by dragons. They are the Thane of Whiterun and a disciple of the Greybeards, and they live in Breezehome within Whiterun's main city.
Blue: A native Nord of Skyrim who was born in Riften. He was one of the soldiers of Whiterun before being assigned as Frisk's housecarl, and follows the Dragonborn everywhere unless otherwise dismissed.
Cross: A Nord who was born and raised in Skyrim. He was enlisted in the Imperial Legion during the Great War, but withdrew from the army following the signing of the White-Gold Concordat due to physical and psychological trauma. After receiving treatment at the Temple of the Divines, he became a traveling mercenary and did odd jobs until he came to Whiterun, which is where he was introduced to the Companions. After rising in their ranks, he became a member of the inner circle and was given lycanthropy, eventually becoming the Harbinger of the Companions as well. He resides in the living quarters of Jorrvaskr with the other Companions.
Nightmare: A powerful Altmer mage who hails from the Summerset Isles. As one of the sons of a powerful and noble family, he has a significant amount of inheritance; the reasons for his presence in Skyrim and his enrollment in the College of Winterhold are unknown to everyone except for those in his family. He became the Arch-Mage of the College following the previous one's demise, has slain the Dragon Priest known as Morokei, and recovered both the Eye of Magnus and the Staff of Magnus. He is known to have connections to both the Dark Brotherhood and the Thieves Guild.
Dream: An Altmer who hails from the Summerset Isles. Following his arrival in Skyrim, he and his twin went their separate ways, and Dream became involved with the Thieves Guild in Riften. Through his connections with the Guild and the Black-Briars, his was able to become a Thane of Riften, and purchased the Honeyside estate for himself. He leads a double-life in Riften, balancing his identity as a nobleman and a Master thief. Following the former leader's betrayal, Dream became the new Guildmaster, and he is also a devoted Nightingale of Nocturnal. He struggles with alcoholism and a Skooma addiction, and he has several encounters with Cross.
Killer: A Dunmer who fled from the mainland of Morrowind to the island of Solstheim. During his youth, he and his mother lived with one of his uncles who made unwanted advances towards her, so he killed him. As a result of his murder, Killer had to flee Solstheim, being a stowaway on a ship to Windhelm. He eventually found himself in trouble with the Dark Brotherhood due to accidentally killing one of their targets, but was officially recruited to the group of assassins, and was appointed as the Night Mother's Listener. He resides in the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary just outside of Dawnstar, and holds the responsibility of conveying the Night Mother's words and heeding her orders.
Dust: A Khajiit who was originally part of a traveling caravan, serving as one of the guards for the merchants. During one of their travels, they were ambushed by a group of bandits, and Dust just barely survived the attack. When he went to the Jarl for help, he was turned away, leading him to resort to handling it on his own. The Dark Brotherhood noticed his sheer bloodlust and knack for killing, and he was recruited to the faction, becoming one of the upper members.
Horror: An Orc who originally lived in Largashbur, an Orc stronghold located southwest of Lake Honrich. It is generally unknown how he was recruited to the Dark Brotherhood and he himself doesn't fully remember, since it was so long ago. During one of his missions in Markarth, he came into contact with the Coven of Namira, and became a cannibal. He was given the Ring of Namira by the Daedric Prince herself, and has a tendency to take bites out of his victims. He spared a young Bosmer named Aliza, who he took back to the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary and has been raising ever since.
Ink: An ancient, pure-blood vampire. She is known as one of the "Daughters of Coldharbour" and plays a crucial role in an ancient prophecy that foretells the eternal shrouding of the Sun. She was sealed away by her own mother to protect her from her father's madness, remaining in Dimhollow Crypt from the mid-late Second Era until she was found by Error. Ink has a very strained relationship with her parents and while she doesn't regret the power her vampirism has given her, she regrets how it tore her family apart. She is married to Error.
Error: A Redguard who accepted vampirisin from Clan Volkihar. He was originally a member of the Vigilants of Stendarr, having been taken in by the faction after his mother was killed, but he was never invested in their beliefs or ideals. Instead, he was fascinated by stories of Daedra and the Daedric Princes, habits that worried his fellow Vigilants. After the attack on the Hall of the Vigilant, Error was directed to the newly reformed Dawnguard, and was temporarily enlisted. During his mission to Dimhollow Crypt, he met Ink and escorted her back to Castle Volkihar, where he was offered the power of the vampire lord as payment for bringing her home. He accepted. Later, after thwarting the ancient prophecy and killing Ink's father, Error took over as the leader of Clan Volkihar and is actively seeking to destroy the Dawnguard. He is married to Ink.

1. Sunglasses (my leopika smut fic) because it's the most popular one I have ig. Literally just the idea of "what if leorio was the one ignoring kurapika" gone terribly wrong.
2. The everyone lives yet everyone dies logic in stowaway. A bit of unreleased chapter spoilers, but the majority of the silly little guys die in the end, while that one character who doesn't really do much with his death in the thing lives. Not world building, just thought it was a silly little fact.
3. Not a reader or fic game, but I always end up falling into another silly fanfic trope I see people talk about. Haven't written one (yet), but serizawa/reigen haircuts.
4. OCs in fics are cool depending on context. Background client for spirits and such that needs to be important? Go all out! Slay! Do it! OC shoved into a spot that could easily be an x reader fic? Just make it Y/N with a backsory, you'll save lots of time and possibly unhappy readers.
5. Both. I write super cool and I like my style of writing and all that, but there comes a time in every fic where I give up and revert back to my roots of writing in a notes tab with only dialogue, making it become super cringe. There's a reason I haven't posted my works from 2021.
Not three fics, but literally everything I've written. Self promotion zone here, I can do what I want. :D

Happy Monday, Fellowship! 💜
Here at Fellowship of the Fics, we want to get to know you as authors, just as we want to hear about your stories! Each month we will have five selected questions that we encourage you to answer as a way to help promote yourself!
Simply reblog this post and answer the questions provided. This is about YOU and YOUR creations! We encourage self-bragging as much as possible!
We will try to reblog as many of these that are filled out so that everyone following FOTFICS can get to know you as well!
Here are the questions for January 2023!
What inspired you to write [choose your fic]?
What is one worldbuilding fact in [choose your fic] that you didn’t get to mention in the fic itself?
What’s your favorite prompt you’ve gotten from a reader/fic game?
What is your opinion of OCs?
Are you proud of your writing or does it embarrass you? Please elaborate.
Now, share up to 3 of your fics you’d like to recommend to us and your followers!

Stowaway part 3
Synopsis:
Seth tries to befriend the Slayer, and Em continues to adjust.
Seth woke up and found that he had rolled onto his side during the night. Thankfully he hadn’t rolled onto Em who was still fast asleep.
He got out of bed and got dressed before leaving his room. He had gently set Em still bundled in the blanket in the cubby before leaving.
Seth made his way to the med-bay to check in with the doctor. He was hoping that it had healed up and that he wouldn’t need to keep it wrapped. He walked in and greeted the doctor.
“Good morning doctor!”
“Good morning Mr. Willems, how is your leg feeling?” The doctor replied.
“It’s a little sore, but not too much.” He said as he sat down.
“I’m going to remove the bandages and inspect the burn, it’s probably going to hurt,” the doctor said while grabbing a pair of scissors.
Seth refused to watch as the doctor removed the bandages. He grimaced as it stung and inhaled sharply. The doctor wrote down something on their clipboard before speaking.
“The wound is still fairly raw, so I’m going to redress the the burn,”
“Mhm,” Seth replied still not looking at his leg.
The doctor went and got some more bandages, while they did that Seth looked around. The med-bay was quite as it was early in the morning, there were a few other people in there as well. Mostly other doctors and nurses, but there were also a few other people still in there from the recent attack.
The doctor came back and began to redress the burn. Soon they were done and Seth was free to go. He thanked the doctor and left for today’s briefing.
Surprisingly the Slayer was at the briefing. He was standing at the back, and a VEGA drone floated nearby. Seth joined the briefing and sat down.
The briefing came and went and Seth was last the last to be addressed.
“Mr. Willems, today you’ll be giving the Slayer a tour of the ship.” The Commander said, “I trust that you’ll do an excellent job,”
“Yes sir,” Seth replied.
He walked up to the Slayer before speaking to the large man.
“You ready to go sir?” He asked while looking upwards.
The Slayer began to tap his wrist again. Now that Seth was next to him, he could see that there was a keypad on his forearm. That must be how he was communicating with VEGA. The Slayer stopped typing and gestured at Seth’s leg as VEGA spoke.
“The Slayer would like to know if you’re okay to walk today?”
“Oh! yeah, don’t worry, I’m okay to walk. I just checked in with the doctor this morning,”
The Slayer stared at Seth’s leg for a moment before turning to the door. Seth led the Slayer and VEGA off the bridge and down the hall.
Their first stop was the main security room, it was large and had smaller rooms coming off of it. One of the rooms was full of monitors displaying video feed from many of the security cameras on the ship. Another room led to the armoury where most of the weapons and equipment were.
The Slayer kept gravitating towards the armoury which slightly distressed many of the guards in the room. Unfortunately for the Slayer, him and Seth were denied access to the armoury.
Their next stop was the main medical-bay where Seth was earlier this morning. Things were a little tense at first when they entered, but after he introduced the Slayer to some of the doctors people seemed to ease up.
Time passed as the two walked about the ship. Slowly, Seth too found himself easing up around the Slayer and began chatting with him and VEGA while they walked from one place to another.
During these chats he leaned a few things about the Slayer, VEGA, and the Fortress. Like how the Fortress had a rather large greenhouse where VEGA grew most of the food.
They had entered the cargo room and were standing on a catwalk as Seth started talking.
“This is the cargo bay, this is also the fourth time I’ve been down here this week, nothing too interesting down here really, just some boxes and crates. The Hanger is on the other side of the room behind those doors,” he said while walking down the stairs.
“The Slayer would like to know what Dr. Hayden wanted you to find,” VEGA said.
“Oh! Um… I don’t know if I’m allowed to tell you that…” Seth stuttered, he was caught off guard by the question.
He could feel the Slayer staring at him, he was starting to feel nervous.
“It wasn’t anything to do with hell if that’s what you’re wondering, at least I think it wasn’t.” He replied.
The Slayer eased up slightly but was still tense as they walked through cargo.
The tension made Seth uneasy so he tried to lift it with some more small talk.
“So, do either you have any hobbies?” He asked,
The Slayer looked away slightly but didn’t answer, but VEGA did.
“While most of the sections of the greenhouse is dedicated to food production, I do have a few for personal use. I have collected many different species of plants and fungi, my personal favourites are ferns and mushrooms. In fact I’ve been attempting to see if I can get some of my mushrooms to use my old prototype for an android body to interact with their surroundings,” VEGA said rather enthusiastically,
He continued to talk about the various plants in his green house for a while before asking Seth if he had any hobbies,
“Oh, uh I used to knit from time to time back at the complex but the moment Dr. Hayden went down we immediately began evacuating and only took whet was essential. I’d like to get back to knitting but there’s no yarn or needles on the ship so I’ll have to wait until we get the the Arctic Safe Zone and hope maybe someone has some there,” he said as they reached the door to the hangar.
The Slayer had perked up when Seth started talking about knitting and looked at VEGA before tapping on his keypad again. A portal opened up not long after and VEGA and the Slayer left through it.
The portal closed and Seth stood there for a minute waiting for them to return. After a few mor minutes he came to the conclusion that they weren’t coming back.
He grabbed his radio and sent a message to the bridge.
“Uh… the Slayer left,” he said into the radio.
“Why?” The Commander radioed back.
“I-I don’t know he just left!”
The Commander audibly sighed before responding, “I’ll tell Dr. Hayden, you go take your lunch,”
“Thank you, sir,” Seth replied before making his way back across the cargo bay.
………………………………………………………………………………….
Seth had just sat down when the man from the other day walked up, he still couldn’t figure out where he’d seen that face. The man walked up and set something down on the table.
It was a ball of yarn.
Seth was visibly confused when he looked up, the man winked at him before walking away. He sat there staring at the ball of yarn before putting two and two together.
“Was that the Slayer?” He thought to himself, “I had to have been, but why?”
He at his food quickly and grabbed the yarn and left.
He got to his room and set the yarn on his desk before checking on Em.
“Whatcha got there?” She asked leaning forward to get a better look.
“Uh, nothing, just… some socks,” he said unconvincingly,
Em narrowed her eyes and watched as Seth pushed the object out of view. Seth came over and sat down on the bed.
“I still haven’t found anything for you to do yet, sorry,” he said, “do you have any suggestions on what I should look for?”
Em looked down and clutched the tuft of her tail, “some paper and some graphite should be alright,” she said.
“Ok I’ll look around for a pencil while I’m out, is there anything you want to talk about or tell me before I go?” Seth asked.
Em opened her mouth to say something when static shot through her body and her hair stood on end. It was unlike anything else she’d experienced before. Her vision was starting to get fuzzy on the right side and the fuzz grew as if something or someone was approaching the door.
Seth could see Em reacting to something and was getting worried when she spoke.
“There’s something outside the door… I don’t know what but it’s not a human..” she whispered in a shaky voice.
Seth tucked her behind the pillow before slowly walking to the door. His heart was pounding in his chest and he slowly reached to open the door. He pushed the button and the door opened.
He yelped as he saw a hand reaching towards him. He looked to see who it was, he saw a familiar green suit in-front of him.
“Oh god, oh my god,” he said shakily while clutching his chest, “Oh, you scared me there,”
It was the Slayer.
The Slayer stood there for a moment and tilted his head slightly before moving his hands.
“Are you alright?” He signed,
“Oh! You know sign language, I’m fine, just knock next time,” Seth replied,
The Slayer signed again, this time apologizing before handing Seth something else. It was a pair of knitting needles.
“Oh, uh thank you, let me go put these away real quick,” he replied and darted to his desk and put the needles with the yarn before returning to the door.
“So… are you wanting to continue the tour or…” Seth said while standing in the doorway, trying to block the view of the bed.
The Slayer nodded before backing away from the door. Seth left his room closing the door behind him. He walked down the hallway followed by the Slayer, VEGA waited a bit before following the others down the hall.
——————————————————————————
Em was shaking as she was placed behind Seth’s pillow. The fuzz was clouding the edge of her vision as Seth talked with whoever was at the door.
She couldn’t make out what was being said. Her ears were buzzing, not ringing like when she saw that ghost. Seth put something down on his desk before leaving the room.
The fuzz slowly left after a moment and Em shakily crawled out from under the pillow and looked around. She took a deep breath and crawled under the blanket and passed out.
——————————————————————————
Seth and the Slayer were out on the runway when they saw some guards looking up.
“What are you all looking at?” Seth said as he followed their gaze.
“Bird” one of the guards replied pointing up at a rather large bird flying above.
It’s body was a yellowish orange colour, and it’s wings and tail were either dark brown or black in colour.
“Probably some sort of seabird,” said another.
“I don’t think so, wings don’t look right,” the first guard replied.
“How long have you been watching this bird, if I may ask?” Seth asked mildly concerned at the thought that ship’s guards have been staring at a bird for god knows how long.
“A few minutes,” the second guard said finally looking away from the bird.
The guard jumped when he saw the Slayer. The others looked at their comrade and than jumped when they also saw him. The Slayer folded his arms and just stared at the guards.
Seth led the Slayer away from the guards and into the hangar.
………………………………………………………………………………….
After a few hours Seth and the Slayer were back in the living quarters of the ship.
“So, since you’ll be working with the ARC for the foreseeable future, some higher ups have decided to give you a private quarters. So you feel more welcomed,” Seth said as they walked down a hall.
He stopped at a door and opened it.
“No one’s used it yet to my knowledge, I hope it’s to your liking,” he continued.
The Slayer looked into the room before nodding. He had to duck slightly to get through the doorway.
“Also, thank you for the yarn, I-I didn’t really expect anything to come from that conversation… thank you,” Seth said while rubbing the back of his neck.
The Slayer reached through the doorway and patted Seth’s head before closing the door. Seth lightly touched the top of his head before walking back to his room.
When he got there he immediately checked on Em. Her reaction earlier worried Seth.
“What caused it? Was it the Slayer? She doesn’t react like that when someone else is in the hall. Is she alright? I hope so,” he thought to himself.
He found Em asleep underneath the pillow, she must have passed out. He reached out to pick her up but stopped himself from doing so.
“I probably shouldn’t touch her, not after what happened earlier,” he told himself. Instead he pulled the blanket up over her and sat down at his desk.
He looked at the yarn the Slayer had given him. It was soft and fluffy and various shades of blue and teal. It looked to be made of polyester and not wool or cotton. It looked warm.
Seth took the yarn out of its wrapper and unraveled a fair amount before picking up his new knitting needles and got to work.
