" i see this guy and i wanna kick him in the back of the knees . i can't explain that, it's just the way i feel, whether he's adorable or not ." slater was unfortunately naturally combative . they were aware of it . they weren't doing much to fix it, but they were aware of it . they know that some people say that you can't solve your problems with your fists but they're kind of convinced that more than half of those people haven't tried it . " me ?" slater has to blink out of their thoughts at odette's offer, their brows raising as their lips twitch . they look her over in amusement . " oh, so you want me to embarrass myself ?" slater nods along to odette's words following that, humming in approval before adding a simple, " sounds good to me . organized or whatever ." slater was a lot of things, but they wouldn't say organized was one of them . call it the creative in them, but unless it was music notes or lyrics, their shit was all over the place . odette didn't seem like that . slater kind of admired it . she takes odette phone without hesitation as it's offered to her, humming as she adds, "i mean, you can come by whenever you want, but sure ." they plug in their number swiftly before calling themself and handing the phone back . " so i have yours ." they explain with a nod .

"well, i'm not usually one to request an extension. i like keeping to my timeline," she says, even if it means having a few extra days with slater. she values her work too much to let an unrequited love get in the way. "'reflect you,'" she repeats, coming up with another idea. why just interpret the lyrics when the routine can embody the musician too? "interesting," she muses aloud, already lost in envisioning how it would all look. she's snapped out of her thoughts when slater expresses unfounded distaste towards the guy. she doesn't see any reason why slater wouldn't like him just from a picture. it's definitely not his looks; the man looks like an angel. "for your information, he's a great guy. even if you pick a fight with him, he'll just ignore you. he knows how to control his temper and knows when it's appropriate to fight," she rolls her eyes. slater's distaste for him only makes her want him more in the project. "plus, what's wrong with his face? he's adorable," she defensively states, mumbling in a pout. she doesn't have many female friends. most unfortunately see her as a threat, and vice versa. the ballet world isn't as charming as it looks; it's filled with equally vindictive and greedy people dressed to appear delicate flowers. "well, there's you. it's never too late to learn," she chuckles, making a harmless joke towards slater for the first time since she arrived. "i'll check if i can find anyone else, but i think she's our safest bet if you want to be done with it as soon as possible. since you're already happy with what i showed, i'll continue working on it," she hands over her phone. "your number, in case i have questions or want to show you something. i can't always come here to ask for your opinion; it's a waste of both our time. i'll just come over to show you the routine and polish it up."

I read so many reviews of TGG...

And i have a few opinions to say:

(Keep in mind, that they are MY opinions and don't hate pls🙏🏻)

Not proof read.

1. Gigi was the best player, idc. I hate Brady for what he did and the way Gigi handled the situation was rlly good, i love her even more in this book. The cliffhanger had me screaming😭😭

2. Apperantley, everyone loved Odette..and mabye i'm just being a hater but i didn't find anything interesting about her character😭. For me she was just "there", sure she helped a lot, but what was the point?? The only reason i kind of liked her character was because she gave us so many Lyrason moments. I kind of felt bad for her towards the end tho. She gave Grayson and Lyra hints, she solved some of the mysteries...but her character was lacking something. I did like her tho and i wanted her to be in the for a while.

3.grayson was best version of himself,i KNOW he was thinking with his dick the whole book but it was actually hilarious, and the character growth he had??? Amazing, truly. He was finally healed. Also the rizz he had...?

4.i liked Lyra's chapters the most, prolly because her father's whole case had me so invested.

5. I loved all the Savannah x Rohan moments we got. The tension AHHHH.

But there were some moments where i felt like i was reading TIG and TFG all over again, simply cus they're dynamic reminded me so much of Averyjameson back in the days. I'm not saying they're exacly the same, it just felt a bit..forced and similar, which i didn't like, i'm being very honest.

6. First half of the book i LOVED savannah but near the end she pissed me off so bad broo😭😭🙏🏻. I know it's all Eve's doing, but Sav isn't blameless too for trusting her. The whole "i'm going to get my revange on Hawthornes for killing my father" UGHHH. GIRL if there is anyone who has right to get revange for her father and messing up her mental health is Lyra. You don't get to say anything cuz..💀

7. Slater might get his redemption arc but idc i'm never going to like him.

8. Lyrason. That it. That's my opinion.

9. Puzzles were overdone. I understand that it's "the grandest game" so obvi there is going to be tons of puzzles and secrets but THERE WERE TOO MUCH.

10. I want Lyra to win and at the same time i want Rohan to win lmaoo😭😭.

11. Avery slayed that 2 minutes of "screentime" she had. Queen.

12. Savy and British had me cringing so bad i'm sorry😭😭

ok so *cracks knuckles* lets talk about tgg

!!warning i'm finishing this like four days after i read tgg so i might've forgotten things because reading until 2am and remembering what i read is apparently a hard thing for me to do!!

first of all.... JLB, you and i need to have a chat because that ending was not okay. you literally just left us with no answers. seriously. what the hell????? and while i wanna kick my feet and scream because we got two kisses and then you had to go ahead and ruin it in the span of two or three pages and give us that shitty ending.

i would like to point out one question i had through out the book, which was why was grayson playing? what was the point of that???? like seriously was there an actual need for him to play or was it just jameson, avery, xander and nash fucking with him? whatever it was it didn't make sense and just felt like jlb was trying to shove lyra and grayson into forced proximity so they could interact.

speaking of thatttt i love graysonlyra and rohansav (more thoughts on sav later) the banter the looks the touches the everything i love it sm omg AND AVERYJAMESON!!!!!!! THE CRUMBS WE WERE GETTING MADE ME SO HAPPY OMG!!! I CAN DIE HAPPY!!

i will say i feel jlb really did pull out all the stops for this book the different levels of everyone's connection and knowledge of how to solve the riddles/puzzles (i was literally CLUELESS) like how does one make all that connect. the level of detail was insane connecting books and characters together just weaving some kind of intricate web of characters.

and at first i did feel like the game felt really short but i think that was just my 2am dumbass brain forgetting this is only the first part of the game lol. i did kinda hope there would be more like running around and trying to solve things on the actual island not stuck in a house though but who knows whats happening in the next book soooo

it did get very confusing there with calla (who is fucking INSANE BY THE WAY!!! SHE TORTURED KNOX??? WTF????) and the whole calla lily thing with lyra and odette was confusing af. so its like calla (the person) has a connection with knox and brady and then a calla lily has a connection with odette and lyra (also kinda gray cause he knows abt it i guess)

and and and and im a die hard gigislate shipper (and brady daniels hater) so im praying that we get an enemies to lovers with gigi and slater where he's forced to be mean/hate or wtv because of *gags* eve and then its like oop no im breaking you out of here idc what eve thinks because i only care abt you. ESPCIALLY because gigi was talking abt how no ones ever looked at her the way jameson looks at avery throughout the book (SOMEBODY HIRE ME FR)

lyra - ok i love her. she was such a good strong character it was so much fun to read about her interactions (with grayson 😏) she was actual so wife material but idk why i felt like i wasnt allll that into her character too much like i love her but didn't really feel connected with her?? idk she was a very good fmc to read about tho!! but i do wanna know about miles end and her whole connection with her dead dad (who btw is an ass who tf kills themself in front of a FOUR YEAR OLD???) and whoever's stalking here (honestly i had a whole ass thing thinking its ALL PROBABLY EVE LIKE SHE WOULDA DONE THAT MUCH RESEARCH OR SOMETHING or maybe eve was js there for gigi) but now i think it might've been something to do with alice. who knows honestly

gigi - this is my time to shineeeeee. if gigi has zero fans i am dead (and slater bc im delusional like that) i love gigi so much omg. she's my no 1 girl i love her. my girl just needs someone to love her fr she talks through out the book about how she wants to be looked at with so much love (she thought it was brady BUT NO EW) i loved reading from her perspective abt how she just wanted to prove that she was good enough to be in the game AND SHE IS!!! im still bitter about her getting kicked out of the game - AND IM NOT EVEN GONNA TOUCH ON THE WHOLE KIDNAPPING AT THE END (GIGISLATE ENEMIES TO LOVERS WHEN????)

rohan - marry me. thats it. honestly just marry me. u need to work on ur nicknames tho- it was super interesting to read about his way of think and the whole labyrinth thingy lol. there wasn't too much more about his backstory tho WHICH IM SO INVESTED IN FR. WHAT DO YOU MEAN HIS FIRST MEMORY IS DROWNING????

savannah - girboss fr. she could step on me and i'd say thank you. its really interesting to me how (obviously) she's been manipulated by eve and it'll be super interesting to see how jlb will play out her whole revenge plan. she's extremely driven which is admirable and a good characters (she's literally like a female grayson imo - which also reminds me of that one scene where she goes "i am grayson hawthornes sister" which made me smile so big fr)

knox - ok so my buddy boy knox. broski, brozilla, broville, brother from another mother, u need a hug? i didn't really like him in the beginning tbh he was a moody lil girl working through his issues. but after a while when he warmed to gigi it was nice to see the softer side to him (which tbh wasnt for very long until oop trauma dumpppp) but seriously oml knox baby the scar???? imma find calla fr (jlb cant write new characters also why complicate the shit out of everything and have a calla lily be relevant to lyra and also have calla be a person???) i did like how sweet/soft he was with gigi when she fell though that warmed my heart.

odette - iconic grandma shit tbh. she was third wheeling the entire time and at some points actually seemed like she was shipping them but then two seconds later she was warning them? saying no? idk the whole 'seizure' thing seems faker than eve's lies. and the fact she instantly gave brady the watch after gigi said no. like um what about knox? idk if thats js my brady hate coming through here though so yeah idk if i trust her or not (bet everyone is working for eve except for gigi, lyra and rohan)

grayson - marry me. love me. choose me. pls. i'd do ANYTHING. my simping for this man aside. IT WAS SO GODDAMN REFRESHING TO SEE A HEALING GRAYSON. like yes. it made me so happy to see him admit he was wrong but also know that its okay to be wrong skdjhaasd. this is so short because i love him and cant write proper thoughts about him fr.

brady - *cracks even more knuckles* brady daniels....... you know i've always wanted to know what it'd be like to write a hate paragraph. i guess im finding out now. i hate him. literally. i have unbridled hate for this man - who by the way still shocks me that he's only 20 he acts like he saw the fucking first world war. its one of the reasons i never liked him like he sooo took advantage of gigi's smartness and kindness like HE DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING during the game gigi carried the entire team and when she refused to take odette's watch and then him instantly taking it. ICKKKK don't even mention how he lied abt his mom like dude just admit it you knew you were fucking cooked in that fight and the only way you could win was by lying. AND WHAT ABOUT THE WHOLE BOMBSHELL ABOUT HOW (i cant remember his name but the dude who raised knox, calla and brady) died??? and then being a little shit and dropping gigi's heart. like we get it u dumbass man child u think you're clever cause u can speak so many languages and read even more but NO. i was onto you, i never trusted your crusty old man ass. like he even touched gigi without her permission (on the stomach) which so gross to me, the dogshit under my shoe can do better than you brady. seriously. i hate him. i'm the leader and founder of the I HATE BRADY DANIELS CLUB. so thats at least something to sate my anger. help this got so long 😭

Who invited Lyra: We all think it was Eve, right?

Process of elimination:

I don't think it was Alice because The Watched is just that: watching. It implies she hadn't done anything yet.

It wasn't Odette: no motive, she doesn't even like talking about Omega/Hawthorne drama etc.

It wasn't Rohan or Gigi.

It could have been either Knox or Brady, but neither of them have payed any attention to Lyra or shown interest in messing with the Hawthornes.

It only leaves Savannah: both with motive and opportunity. Or rather Eve.

Here's the possible timeline:

1. (Final Gambit) - back when Eve was on her spy mission she DID have access to the capital L list. It's how she got the papers on Sheffield (she even took pictures). She wouldn't be looking for a Thomas Thomas at this point obviously, but she'd seen the papers.

2. (Brothers Hawthorne) - Eve/Slate show up at Grayson's hotel at the same time as Lyra starts calling. The first time Gray meets Slater we get little mentions of listening devices/cameras which puts the idea in the reader's head. We also get a damn suspicion hotel manager that seems to make life easy for Eve (payed off? Similar weird interactions with hotel staff happen multiple times). She would have had the prime opportunity to learn about Lyra's calls, listening in. The book also ends with Eve asking to met Savannah to finally 'talk about her father' hence the idea of being a Sponsor.

3. (TGG) The same dark-blue ink on both the invitation and the notes

Savannah is the first person to show up when Lyra finds the notes. Acting out-of-character might I add. When has she ever cared to ask a stranger (a competitor no less) about their well being? About their personal life? Rohan is the one who keeps interrupting. He thinks it's sabotage, when it's likely a genuine interest in conversation/digging up dirt.

IF Eve is sponsoring Savannah they could have some mutual arrangement since Lyra is a distruptive presence. Both Xander and Avery talked to her personally, trying to get her measure. It keeps attention away from Sav, who has no real personal interest in Lyra beyond only doing what she's told by Eve.

Savannah is also the dirtiest fighter in the game. She knew the blackout was coming. Which means she knew someone else was on the island (Slater). The bag Gigi found was likely also for her. Nash made a little comment about how the necklace 'suits' Gigi. They are twins. Lyra's notes are just another dirty move.

■ As to how she found Lyra I still don't know. The Blakes are not as rich as the Hawthornes, but they have more connections. In Final Gambit we see how hard things get for Avery, even down to similar things like slowly ruining her financials, finding family secrets, playing mind games etc. Eve had an entire team for finding Lyra, Grayson was alone.

But there is a problem: Savannah’s plan (to be crowned on a livestream) is not something that Eve SHOULD want.

Who shot Sheffield? Mellie, Eve's half-sister.

Who disposed of the body? Oren and Toby, Eve's father.

Either Savannah's revenge ends in just a media scandal (lame revenge) or it actually opens a police investigation, in which the Hawthornes can simply say that he blew up a plane, killed 2 of Avery's men and then kidnapped her. He wasn't an innocent man and Mellie killed him in defence of another (which follows similar principles to self defence). Toby is the one who wanted to cover this up. He is used to running from problems. But the Hawthornes can survive the story getting out.

And Eve isn't stupid, so: Savannah is just a pawn in a grander scheme. The reason she even wanted her instead of Gigi is because she's similar to Grayson, who Eve has successfully played before. Sav's plan will never happen because it would hurt Eve as well. If anything she might have bigger ambitious regarding Lyra stuff, not Sheffield stuff.

I JS FINISHED TGG!!! (spoilers btw cuz imma give my opinion)

Me and @zuzanna-jadw1ga were yapping ab it and we both agree that the Masquerade Ball was underwhelming. The convo between Gray and Lyra in my opinion was too short but later it was better so ig thats ok. A lot of the ideas ppl on Tumblr had were genuinely better than the actual things that happened in the book. Xander's "House of Riddles" was something i was really really excited for But ended up being js that line and then continuing w the escape room. The whole W, C, P thing was just there for the scabble tiles. The cogs next to the tiles also didnt rlly mean anything significant. they were there to represent the doors Gigi tried opening. The necklace was Gigi's, which i kinda love bc even though my theory ab knox or brady being mattias was wrong, Mattias was still involved somehow. I CANT BELIEVE I DIDNT REALISE THE L FOR LYRA ON THE COVER BEFORE THO. Idrk what the locked and bottle thing were to represent but the Dice was Savvy (love that nickname Rohan) and the infinity symbol i think was Gray bc of the thing Rohan did at the end in the shower if yk what i mean.

NOW AB THE KISSES. I absolutely loved Sav's and Rohan's but i think that Lyra's and Gray's could have been written a little longer...

my muse chris’ mother becomes the president... and either her and a secret service member/someone else who works for the president OR it could be the lead up to the election and the child of her opponent (is it love? are they pretending?)

messy rich assholes being assholes... the playboy (jude, lux, slater, lucky) falling in love with the queen bee (carling, posie, odette, rosalie, anais, lindsey) who happens to be dating their best friend. 

any plot where carling used to skate with your muse and they betrayed her (at least in her eyes) but now it’s a year later and they need to skate together again if they want to get to the olympics. 

maja and her former handler who is on the run after betraying the company maja works for an as assassin.. she’s hunting her down but they also are kind of in love. 

two actors who are in a weird game of chicken on set with their attraction to each other, both trying to turn each other on during sex scenes but pretending it’s all normal until one cracks. (mason, conrad, dove, sabrina)

Also it's not proof read so there is like shit tons of mistakes but don't mind it😌

I loved the book, i loved the characters (and romance🤭) usually i wait for a few days to rate a book, so i'll probablu redo it and write a full review in 2-3 days...

I don't want to spoil much so this is going to be very short and overall.

What i liked:

I loved how unpredictable new characters were, at first you trust them and you're rooting for them and then second later they may seem suspesious. I loved all 3 pov characters: Lyra, Gigi and Rohan. Gigi is such a girlboss (exept for the end...don't get me started on the ending UGHHH) Lyra too, i loved how her character was different from others, like at the same time she kinda reminded me of Gray but i honestly think they're complete opossites (other than trauma bonding🤝🏻) i loved that players had to work their way out together, AND the fact that they all had conversation with each other. I LOVED HOW THERE WAS ONLY ONE MINOR MENTION OF EMI*Y AND NOTHING

What i didn't like:

For me the book sometimes book felt paced, sometimes slow paced, i mean i liked how the game started really quickly, but...it felt so...forced... i think she could've finish the whole game in one book and the second book "glorious rivals" could've been about the same pov characters, just slightly different plot.

Don't kill me but i feel like the riddles and mysteries were overdone, i understand that the point of whole game was to solve riddlex to win the money tho there were TOO much, or mabye i'm just dumb and they made me feel even more dumb..

I was kicking my feet at Lyrason moments but i expected more idk😭😭 like i hated how the whole plot and romantic interactions were just solving riddles.

None of the secrets were answered which really pissed me off.

Brady- YOU FUCKING ASSHOLE I CAN'T BELIEVE I CALLED YOU HOT, YOU DICKHEAD.

Slater- glad i never trusted this idiot. The moment i read that he worked for Eve i was like...NAH.

Eve-.....REDEMPTION ARC MY ASS.

Savannah- gurl i'm srry but you really made me mad...idgaf if she was manipulated like YOUR TWIN WAS LITERALLY KIDNAPPED BCS OF YOUR STUPIDITY.

Odette- this woman is SO confusing and sus...i don't think i trust any word she says...

Gigi- i LOVED her, i loved her when i read tbh i love her even more now..and i'm scared that she is slowly starting to lose her "sunshine" side and this whole keeping THE SECRET and betrayal thing didn't do her justice either.... but istg if Eve does something to her....(i was in shock when i finished the book)

Lyra- i feel so bad for her, like this girl ONLY wants to know the truth and then to finally foget about her past but they kept SMASHING her trauma in her face💀💀😭😭 i loved her. Every moment we got of Lyra and Grayson i SCREAMED.

Rohan- this man is a shameless flirt "Savy"...EKKKKKKKKKKKEKEEEKEEE, i literally didn't pay attention to anything other than his flirting skills lmaooo

Grayson- oh..THIS MAN HAD ME SCREAMING...he was so hot in every moment, also is it just me who noticed that he was very much..."soft" in this book..compared to others..idk (mabye he just has a soft spot for Lyra)

Knox- ....nothing, literally nothing.
