Episode Two: The Problems Arise.
The Riellys
Tumblr media
You had a lot of questions, but most were ones she couldn’t answer. What were you going to make for dinner? How many times would you have to ask Mitch to keep his shoes off your nice white carpet? Which one of Morgan’s teammates had left the stain on your couch? When were you going ask for the time off you needed to attend Morgan’s charity event? However, those questions all were the answers to why your blood pressure was a little higher than normal. But nothing was raising your blood pressure more than the stress from Morgan’s desire to start a family. You saw the way he looked at Jake and Lucy’s baby and you knew how he was with the kids. you had no doubt in your mind that he would be a great father. But you were terrified. Yea you could help with Morgan’s younger teammates, but they were technically some form of an adult human being. How could you even imagine taking care of baby and with Morgan’s schedule and your hectic job how would you even manage.  And maybe that was something you could overcome someday, but you didn’t think that day was tomorrow, or the next, or a week or a month from now, you needed time. And as much as you wanted to tell Morgan that, you saw how excited he was, and you didn’t want to disappoint him. “If you went off birth control, how long would it take to get pregnant?” you suddenly found yourself asking before you even realized it was coming out of your mouth. “Depends really,”  your doctor started. “It can take up to a year for some women. Others conceive straight away.” All of that information was readily available on the internet, but it was more comforting coming from a doctor. A year was a good amount of time. Maybe you would be ready by then. You could go off birth control now and not get pregnant for a while. Or, like she said, you could get pregnant right away. “Are you and Morgan thinking about trying?” “We’ve discussed it.” She smiled. “Well, if that’s the case, some of my patients like to have one cycle before they start trying so they can gauge when they ovulate. But there are tests for that these days, and there haven’t been any studies that say not waiting that month is harmful. It also doesn’t hurt to start a prenatal vitamin regimen now,” she continued. “You’re young and healthy, Y/N,  I don’t think you’ll have any trouble.” She meant that to be reassuring, but it only worried you more. You were young and healthy. As grateful for that as you were, you wasn’t sure you was prepared to have a baby by the end of the year.   “I am  going to assume you don’t want a refill on your birth control?” You wish you could have given her a quick and easy “no” but the growing knot in your gut swayed your answer. Still unsure, you knew what you had to say. “Actually, could you write me a prescription? We still haven’t made any decisions yet.” She  didn’t hesitate for a moment. Pulling out a pen from her pocket, she filled out the white slip of paper and handed it to you.
With a sigh of relief, you folded the prescription and tucked it into your purse before you got dressed. You made your way back home surprised to see Morgan waiting for you. He wrapped you in a hug moments after you walked into the room.
“I am so happy we’re doing this,” he whispered, pressing a short kiss to your lips. “I don’t think you’ve ever wanted anything more than you want a baby with you.” He kissed you again, but this time you had to force yourself to kiss him back. you couldn’t lie to him. The weight of the prescription in your purse was making your arm and heart heavy, you couldn’t take the guilt of not being ready to be a mother. And as much as you didn’t want to hurt him, you needed to be honest. “Morgan—” He pressed his lips to yours, long and slow until he knocked the wind straight out of you. “You’re gonna be the best mother ever, and I might be a shit dad, but I am going try so hard—” “You’ll be a great father, Morgan,” you said, pulling away from him. Despite the dimly lit kitchen, his eyes were bright and alive. You couldn’t help pulling his beanie off so that you could run your fingers through his hair. “Don’t ever doubt yourself.” He smiled and kissed you once more. “C’mon,” he said as he pulled you further into the house. “If we wait any longer I will have to take you right here. He already had your hand in his as he flipped the light switch, both the kitchen and hall falling dark as you both climbed the stairs. He didn’t let go of your hand until you were in your room. That light was already on, so you got a full view of the jeans, t-shirt, and socks he left on the floor. “The hamper is three feet away,” you sighed, walking over to your closet. You kicked off your shoes and hung up your sweater before pulling your dress off. Morgan was already in the bathroom, so you made it a point to wave the balled up fabric at him as you tossed it in with the rest of the laundry. “Not that hard.” “They weren’t dirty,” Morgan said, grabbing his toothbrush. “And I’m going to wear them again tomorrow.” You frowned as you grabbed your own toothbrush, layering some toothpaste on it before scrubbing. After you rinsed, you grabbed one of your make-up removers and washed your face. “That’s gross babe” Morgan hummed gingerly as he capped the bottle of mouthwash, sighing out as he opened the cabinet to put the toothpaste back. You watched him linger for a moment, a short smile curving his lips. “Guess you don’t need these anymore.” When you looked over at him, he had your last month’s birth control in his hand. Your stomach dropped as he tossed it into the trash. “I guess not.” you swallowed. You should have taken that as your invitation to tell him that you wasn’t ready, but you couldn’t shake how happy he sounded when he talked about having kids. you wanted him to be happy.  You weren’t ready right this second, but the doctor said it could take up to a year. That could be enough time. Morgan would be happy. That’s all that mattered. Those thoughts slipped your mind once you walked back into the bedroom. With Morgan’s chest pressed against your back, he peppered kisses down your neck, sucking gently as he trailed over your shoulders. You hummed softly as he unhooked your bra, pulling away only to discard it to the floor. His lips were back on your neck within seconds, his arms snaked around your sides. Giggling at his touch, you ignored the fact that you could hear your phone ringing from the kitchen. “Don’t even think about it,” he mumbled into your skin, his hands cupped over your breasts, kneading until his name slipped off your lips. You weren’t  going to. At least, not until it started ringing again. It was after eleven.
“Y/N, it is probably just one of the boys asking a stupid question. “It could be important,” you finally said, slipping away from him. you grabbed the shirt he left on the floor and put it on. “No, what’s about to happen in our bed is important!” You rolled your eyes and kissed him quickly. “I’ll be right back.”
You made your way down to the kitchen and found your phone. When answering it, you found yourself talking to a drunk Auston and Willy. You giggled as you figured out where they were and told them to stay put.
You heard Morgan groan as you asked which one of you were going.
And for a second you were relieved that the moment had delayed for now, and after Morgan had left to pick up his friends, much to his displeasure. You took your pill.

Warnings: none

The Masterlist is here.

“It’s your own fault,” you hummed as you walked into your room. you were already taking your ears off, combing your fingers through your hair as you tossed the headband onto the table.
You were on a group trip to Disney world with the Marleau family. You were having a great time. Auston on the other hand.
This comment earned you a grunt from Auston—the same sound he made when you missed the
monorail back to the resort, and when the cart in Liberty Square ran out of churros, and when
Brody made him ride the teacups for the fourth time, and when you asked him to get a pair of
ears so you could take a nice picture together in front of the castle. You were at the happiest place on earth and he was a grump, which could have been prevented if he let you put sunblock on him this morning.
“If you tell you that one more time, I am literally going to get on the next plane home.” He scowled over at you as he pulled his t-shirt off, dropping it to the floor as he started to unbuckle his belt. You placed your hands on your hips, narrowing your eyes to him. “Matts, the closest you’ll be getting to Canada is at EPCOT tomorrow. I am actually very excited for a beaver tail there tomorrow actually, It’s cinnamon like a churro maybe you can have one.”
He kicked his shoes off, glaring at you as he slipped off his jeans. He was an unfortunate shade of red that reminded you of a perfectly ripe tomato. “This was meant to be a fun trip and you’ve turned into an absolute villain.”
Your jaw dropped. “Auston you literally threw a temper tantrum over a churro. Caleb had to offer you his!”
“Brody cut me in line.”
“He is a kid!”
He snarled, stomping over to the bed. It took him all of two seconds to rip down the blankets,
rustling the perfectly neat sheets. He jumped in before you could tell him to straighten them out, his limbs splayed out across the mattress. you rolled your eyes and grabbed a few things out of your suitcase before heading into the bathroom.
The Marleau children had begged you and Auston to join on the family postseason trip for weeks before. Auston had wanted to take a trip alone with you but you had already told the kids yes.
He really had been a trooper. He didn’t complain when Landon wanted to ride It’s A Small World for the third time and he took as many pictures as you wanted, without the
Mickey ears. He hadn’t started getting irritated until the sun was at its peak. Between heat exhaustion and his sunburn, you were surprised he made it until the fireworks.
Thinking about it like this put things into perspective. He wanted to be on a beach somewhere with just you, but instead, he was at Disney World with his teammates and his kids. You shouldn’t have been upset with him for getting a little cranky after too much sun.
After your shower, you pulled your hair up and changed into a loose t-shirt. You never went anywhere unprepared and you knew there was a good chance this would happen, so you grabbed a bottle of aloe from your bag before walking back into the room.
Auston was in the same position you left him in. His eyes were closed, but you knew he wasn’t sleeping.
Once you were close enough, you pressed one knee to the bed and crawled on top of him. Frowning, he peeked an eye open.
“You think you can just straddle you and everything will be all fairy tales and pixie dust?”
You smiled, waving the bottle at him. “I have come bearing a peace offering.”
He let out a slow sigh, his hands finding their way to your hips. He settled them against the band on your underwear, drumming his fingers against your skin until he drew out a quiet laugh.
“Not exactly the peace offering I had in mind.”
“Maybe not, but it’ll make your sunburn feel better.”
He shrugged, wincing slightly as he moved his hands from hips to the hem of your shirt, tugging at it lightly. “Burn’s not so bad.”
You placed the bottle of aloe on the nightstand before you leaned down to kiss him, soft and slow because, after such a long day, that’s all you had the energy for.
He grinned, kissing you again as he dragged your shirt up, eventually separating so that he could pull it off
“You were awfully mean to me today,” he pouted against your lips. “I think I deserve a little bit of reward.”
“Maybe,” you said, smirking at him. “But only if you agree to wear Mickey ears tomorrow.”
“I don’t think it’s Disney appropriate to be talking about Mickey Mouse when you’re topless on top of me,” he grinned.
You giggled against his mouth before trapping him in another kiss.
You got your matching mickey ear picture the next morning.
You smiled as you watched Auston enjoying a churro as you made it to the next ride.

Chapter 15: Throwing Cookies.
Warning: Angst & Cursing.
Tumblr media
It had been a few months since that night in your kitchen. Tyler threw himself into hockey and you buried yourself into the house renovations. You had almost finished the house except for the single room down the hall from you and Tyler's room. The room that you had planned to use as a nursey one day.
You and Tyler were more distant than ever. You spoke but nothing of any importance. When you did talk it usually ended in a blowout fight. You were trying but you just couldn't figure out how to talk to your husband. You sat at the kitchen island drinking a cup of coffee when you thought back to a fight you and Tyler had right after his mom had left.
You were still curled up in bed while Tyler got ready to leave on another road trip. after he was ready he crawled into bed with you in his full suit.
“Hey, I'm about to leave for this trip love” he whispered.
You just nodded in response.
“Hey what if we try again when I get home” he started as he placed his fingers to touch your cheek.
You looked at him astounded, “Why would you say that..”
“No, I just want...” He tried to backpedal
“What, what do you want!” you got louder
“Y/N..” he said softly.
“Screw you for even suggesting that, screw you.” You could see Tyler holding back the tears but you could bring yourself to care.
“Okay, Alright Ill go. I'll call you when we land” he choked out as he got out of bed.
You simply turned over as the door closed.
You sighed as you took another sip from your coffee. You hadn't been fair to your husband and you knew it. You had done a lot of healing in the time since your miscarriage but now your marriage was in disarray. The season had ended and Tyler was currently at locker cleanout. You were hoping with more time on the both of your hands you would get everything back on track.
You heard the door open and Tyler made his way into the kitchen.
“Hey babe, how was cleanout?” you asked with a smile.
“It wasn't too bad, the truck is full of some smelly equipment,” Tyler stated as he grabbed a drink out of the fridge.
“Well before we tackle that, why don't we go get a nice lunch.” you smiled.
Tyler raised his eyebrows, you hardly suggested going out these days and he was surprised.
“I am glad we are going to have time to get back on track Tyler. I’ve missed you.” you tried stepping off the island stool. “We could also get some of our favorite take-out”
“Let’s do that, I am still a bit tired. I could go for a nice nap later too.” he smiled.
An hour later, you were finishing the Chinese you had ordered. You and Tyler had kept the conversation going and you thought you were on the right track. that was until Tyler suddenly spoke up.
“This is the first real conversation we’ve had in months Y/N”
“That is your choice Tyler, I’ve been here, I’ve been trying” you tried clearing your plate.
“Don't put the blame on me here, you won’t let me in!”
“I'm not putting the blame on anyone.” you tried once more calmly.
“I want to talk to you Y/N but you won’t talk to me about how you're feeling. You hide it all away. I’m your husband for god’s sake.”
Tyler was now standing he was getting louder. This is how it had been starting these days. You and Tyler would get into these fights longing for the other to feel your own pain and it was becoming a dangerous habit.
“You left me Tyler. You got to walk away and you ran. You got to escape to those games and I sat in this house and I was dying. Our baby died and I was dying!” you yelled as you slammed your dish in the sink.
God damn it Y/N! You think I was somehow just fine when I left? You think it didn’t kill me to leave you each time? You don't think I died a little too?” Tyler knocked his chair over with one swift move and you flinched.
“No, not like me Tyler. You were coping, you were okay. I couldn’t even function Tyler.”
“You don't think I knew that? I wasn't fucking coping, I was covering. I wanted to take care of you. I was putting you first! But the thing I fucking needed was you. But you wouldn't allow me to grieve with you for five fucking seconds. I have been waiting for you Y/N. I’ve been trying to give you time but I won't wait forever. Something has got to give. Either we need to see someone and figure this out or we won’t survive. This marriage won’t survive. And we need to figure it out or separating is going to be the light at a very long tunnel.
You couldn’t believe what you were hearing. You were now fuming. You and Tyler always aimed with low blows during these fights but never had he mentioned you separating.
“Is that what this is to you? Oh, I am so sorry I have been keeping you in this fucking prison.  You yelled as you chucked a handful of fortune cookies at your husband.
“Maybe Del Zotto was right, you were fucking crazy for marrying me.”
“Y/N, What the hell are you talking about!” Tyler yelled back shielding himself from your barrage of cookies.
“I know what you're friends think of me, I'm not stupid. You made some huge mistake marrying me and all my fucking problems.”
You lobbed a few more handful of cookies at Tyler, as realization was slowly hitting you. “You just want to end it? Go back to how it used to be with him?”
“That's not what I said if you would listen. Y/N what are you doing!”
“I’m throwing cookies at you!”
“Why!” Tyler shouted as he blocked a few from his face.
“I don't know!” you shouted back throwing another handful.
“Stop, Stop Stop!” he suddenly grabbed your wrists and you looked at him.
“why are we doing this.. what happened to us.” you got out through a few staggered breaths.
“I don't know.”
“How do we get it to stop,” you whispered. You and Tyler stood there frozen for a second and then suddenly the space between you was closed.
You were now laying in bed with your husband. This was the first time the both of you were intimate since. You turned to Tyler and grabbed your husband’s hand.
“Tyler, I love you and I am willing to do what it takes to get us back to where we were a year ago. Let’s get help.”

Find the First Two Parts on the Masterlist
You couldn’t believe what you were really staring at. Was there really a positive pregnancy test in your hands? You wanted so badly to believe that this was just a horrible dream or some twisted figment of your imagination but the growing pit in your stomach told you otherwise. Right next to the pit was a small little bean of a baby. Your thoughts jumped straight to Auston. How was he going to take this? The pit grew bigger.
You and Auston had been dating for years now, you had grown up with him, and he was your best friend. You both had gone through so much together. You got through him moving to Europe, The Draft, His rookie season being with the Leafs, his demanding role as their all-star, along with any other trouble that comes along with the territory of being in a relationship. But could your relationship survive a baby? You were both still so young. You basically grimaced when you thought about the last time the word baby was mentioned.
It was a few seasons back, Jake and Lucy had just welcomed their beautiful baby in the world. You stood in the hospital room ogling over the baby in Stephanie’s arm. They were so cute and you had the smallest tinge of baby fever. You heard the boys laugh from where you stood. Auston was standing with Mitch and Morgan watching you and Stephanie fawn over the small bundle in your arms. Jake laughed once more and looked towards the boys. “So when are we going to get another to add to the roster one of you two rooks is next?” Mitch only smiled but Auston laughed so hard it was almost harsh.
“That won’t be for a very long time, Jake.” He gets through his chuckles. “Y/N, don’t get any ideas.” He glanced at you and you knew he meant it. Just like that, the small bit of baby fever dissipated.
That had been seasons ago, but you knew Auston still didn’t have any inclination to have kids even in the remote future. Man, were you about to throw a wrench in those plans. You took a deep breath. You could get through this. You and Auston had always said you would be the ones to make it, No matter what you two would survive. That you would beat the odds.
You could do this, it wouldn’t be easy and Auston might take some time to come around but it would all come together. You were Auston and Y/N, the two of you against the world. Well, three of you now. You would be lying if you suddenly pictured your small family and smiled. You were pulled from your thoughts by the sound of the door unlocking. You quickly stuffed the test in your back pocket and hid the trash in your makeup bags. You emerged from the bathroom just as Auston had made his way upstairs and into your bedroom.
“Hey Babes” he chimed as you gave him a smile hoping he wouldn’t notice the panic and stress in your eyes. That was the thing about Auston, you could not get a single thing past him. It was like you were his favorite book that he would read over and over again, getting to the point where he could read it with his eyes closed.
Whatever was having him so cheery must have helped you, because he just smiled and planted a kiss on your lips before turning around into the bathroom to take a shower. You let out a breath as you heard the water switch on. You headed downstairs to clean up your work on the coffee table from earlier in the morning. You closed your laptop and gathered the drafts you had scattered around. You were headed into the office with all your things when Auston had emerged from the shower.
“Hey everyone is coming over to just hang out before the season starts, that’s okay right?” he smiled guiltily. You knew he already had invited everyone and there was no way you would turn them away.
“Of course it’s fine bub. I love having everyone over, just as long as there are no repeats of the last time” You glared at him recalling Willy ripping your favorite dress when they were raiding your closet out of boredom.
Auston simply chuckled and pulled you into a tight hug.
Just a few hours later, your loft was filled with people you considered family. Everyone was having a good time enjoying the food you had ordered and the drinks were flowing. Mitch was trying to make you his famous margarita but you avoided it by saying you needed to finish some designs before bed.
You were standing in the living room talking to Kappy about the show you were both watching when Auston had slipped between the two of you. Auston’s hands went straight to your ass and suddenly you were aware of the forgotten stick in your pocket.
“What is in your pocket?” he questioned and before you could stop him, he had pulled it out and was now staring at the positive test in his large hands.
“Auston…” you started. His face was unreadable. That was the thing about Auston, unlike yourself Auston was sometimes a closed book in the restricted section. The tears welled in your eyes as you searched Auston’s face for anything. You could feel the various sets of eyes locked on the two of you.
Before you could muster up any words, Auston turned on his heels and was out the door with a slam. You flinched at the sound. Freddie, Patty, and Mitch followed Auston each giving you a sympathetic look as they left your home. Stephanie and Christina rushed to your side trying to usher you into the guest room.
You put only smiled “I’m fine, I have a kitchen that needs to be picked up.” You offered a smile to the other sets of eyes still in shock of had just happened as you made your way to the kitchen. You started to clean up the food that was spread out across the island. Stephanie and Christina just simply came in and quietly started to help you. You appreciated it, just their presence was something you didn’t know you needed. Slowly the loft emptied, each person leaving wrapping you in a hug and telling you Auston would be back and that they were there for you. You thanked each one and offered them the best smile you could muster. As the night continued, your brave front dwindled down and with each second you were closer to tears. Once only Stephanie and Christina were left you made your way to the balcony overlooking the shining skyline of Toronto. You stood gripping the railing afraid if you let go you would finally crumble to the ground.
Your body let out a sob that racked your entire body. You trembled as the girls rushed to your side. Christina rubbed your back as you finally let go of the emotions you had been holding in all night. You only stopped when you heard the front door open and shut. A whole new set of sobs left your body when it was only Mitch and Patty who made their way into the house. You sobbed into you were basically dry heaving. Patty had carried you into the living room and they gathered around you comforting you until finally, you had calmed down enough to be coherent.
“Where is he?” you finally choked out. “I just need to know he’s okay..” you started wiping the tears with the sleeve of Mitch’s Jacket that he had wrapped around you outside.
Patty sighed. “He is with Freddie, He said to tell you that he would be staying there. He didn’t want you to leave the loft.”
You looked at him confused. “For how long? Why would I leave?” you questioned scared to know the answers. You felt as if your life was ripping at the seams and you were reaching for any last thread to hold on to.
Patty exchanged looks with Mitch and Mitch grabbed your hand. “Right now he says he doesn’t want to be a part of this.”
Patty interjected quickly. “Honey he says that now, give him time he is going to come around.” He tried placing his hand on your shoulder.
You were in shock. Auston had left you. No Auston had left you and your baby.
It had now been over a week since you had last seen or talked to Auston. You were still reaching for any tiny thread of hope that things would change but it was faltering. To make the matters of heartbreak worse, the sudden morning sickness had hit you like a truck. You were in the bathroom for 80% of your day. The smell of most foods would leave you reeling. You were sore, sick, and hurting. Christina was always extremely helpful as having all the boys at home but the one person you wanted to talk to, you didn’t think you could.
You weren’t sure if Auston had even told Ema about the pregnancy and you didn’t think it was your place to tell her yourself. She was his mom, not yours, you thought to yourself as much as it hurt. Ema was like a mother to you. Ever since your mother had died when you were young, Ema had taken you under her wing like another child. You wanted to hear her voice and ask her a million questions but you were honestly scared she might have a similar reaction to Auston. You couldn’t handle losing another person in your life.
You had scheduled your first OBGYN appointment for this afternoon. You had already been to your regular doctor to confirm your pregnancy with bloodwork. The doctor confirmed what you already knew with your extremely high hCG levels.
You planned on going by yourself but Stephanie and Mitch refused to let you go alone. Mitch walked into the living room where you were putting on your shoes when he placed the bag of dum dum lollipops in your lap.
“You are the best” you smiled as you broke open the bag. Lollipops seemed to be the only thing you could stomach these days.
You popped the lollipop in your mouth as you walked out the door handing one to both him and Steph. The ride to the office was quick. You hopped out of the car trying your best to hide your nerves. Steph must have sensed it and grabbed your hands in hers.
You checked in and were quickly called back, they allowed Steph and Mitch come with you despite the weird looks you received at the front desk.
“They must think you are our surrogate or something” Mitch chuckled as he played with the model baby in the exam room.
Steph hit his shoulder but you laughed as the doctor made her way into the exam room. “Okay Ms. Y/L/N, let’s see us a baby.” She smiled.
You felt so conflicted. You were happy and nervous to finally see your baby for the first time but at the same time, you were devastated that you were sharing this with his teammates and not Auston.  You just wanted something from Auston, anything really. The radio silence was slowly killing you.
You pulled from your thoughts when the cold gel was being placed on your stomach. Slowly the doctor glided the wand across your stomach. And then you heard it the beating sound ringing through the speakers and for the first time in a week, the tears welling in your eyes were happy ones. Suddenly the sound seemed like it was echoing. You immediately looked at the doctor worriedly. Her grin only grew, “Y/N you’re having twins, that’s two heartbeats.”
She laughed at the expression now on all three of your faces. “And here they are,” she said as she had finally found the right spot. You looked at the screen and there you saw it. Two little beans in black and while and suddenly your heart swelled. You had two living things inside you and they needed you. You smiled as you glanced at Mitch and Steph. They were both in tears, Mitch holding on to Steph. You wished you were glancing at Auston but you were happy they were here.
The doctor updated you on everything, you were actually further along than they originally thought already being 11 weeks. She then offered you your pictures of your sonogram. Mitch insisted on a million copies. He told you that a few of the guys wanted one. You had hoped one of them would show Auston but you didn’t dare ask. Once the doctor had printed the pictures and handed them over, the three of you headed to at least try and get some lunch. You ordered a small sandwich and salad and the three of you sat in silence for a few minutes. You finally spoke up.
“How is he…” you started. Looking towards Mitch and taking a sip of your drink before continuing. “I just want to know how he is, it will make me feel better. I know you guys started training camp.”
Mitch sighed before he started. “He’s alive if that’s what you’re asking Hun. He just seems to always be in a grumpy mood, doesn’t talk much, and takes it out on the ice. Gave Freddie a few hard shots yesterday morning.”
“He’s going to come around girl, I just know it” Steph stated matter of factly grabbing your hand from across the table. You just nodded and smiled as your food arrived.
A few days later Mitch had invited Auston over to play some video games after practice. They both entered the kitchen to grab a quick bite when Auston got a glance of the fridge Mitch was opening.
“What the hell is that?” He asked coldly staring at the sonograms Steph had tapped to the fridge surrounded by little hearts.
Mitch just shook his head as he closed the fridge and took a look at the sonograms himself. He couldn’t believe his best friend was being so cold towards you and your unborn children. He himself was so excited he found himself downloading a pregnancy app to see what size the babies would be as they grew.
“You know exactly what they are Auston. Don’t deny it.”
Auston just huffed but didn’t take his eyes from the fridge.
“She’s having twins you know. Me and Steph went with her a few days ago. She asked about you, with everything going on with her she still wanted to make sure you were okay. Maybe you should at least talk with her…” Mitch tried.
“Are we playing or what Mitch?” Auston asked as he grabbed water from the fridge.
Mitch ran a hand over his face and just nodded as Auston made his way to the living room. Mitch glanced at the fridge once more and smiled when he saw that one of the sonograms was missing. Maybe he was getting somewhere.
More weeks passed and still no word from Auston, against the team’s best efforts. You would be going to find out the gender of your babies in just a few days. You had hoped since your last doctor’s appointment that somehow Auston would have changed his mind by now and would be there but the days dwindled closer you were losing sight of that happening.
You tried to be strong most days. As the boys or their significant others would visit you would allow yourself a small tinge of happiness smiling and laughing alongside them. You wanted to be strong for your babies, for you were all they had at the moment. You knew no matter what happened these babies were going to be loved. The boys were always fawning over your now showing baby bump. And as much as you appreciated it, you were missing the one person who should have been.
Tonight was one of the nights you had let it get to you. You were having a rough pregnancy, to say the least. The morning sickness had no sign of subsiding anytime soon, you were always sore, you already couldn’t get comfortable to sleep and you were just tired. Tired of everything. You had just finished some drafts for work on the balcony and you were alone. You walked in when you felt your dinner making its way back up. You rushed to the bathroom and threw up for what seemed like forever. You were now just dry heaving and your whole body ached. You just couldn’t take it anymore. You let your tears flow and couldn’t find the strength to even get up. You had no idea how long you had been sitting on your bathroom floor sobbing uncontrollably when you heard your front door open. You still couldn’t find it in you to get off the floor so you stayed there knowing whoever it was would find you eventually. You were right within a few minutes Patty had broken down the door after hearing your sobs. He picked you up as Mitch watched pulling the comforter back in your room. You hadn’t slept in here since Auston Left, either finding yourself asleep on the couch or in the guest room. You scooted onto his side, grasping his pillow and taking in the little scent that was left. Christina crawled into bed with you and rubbed your back as another round of sobs left your body. You hated being so weak in front of them but you had nothing left to fight with tonight. You let your body shake with each sob until you fell asleep.
Patty being like a second dad to both you and Auston, seeing you the way you were last night killed him. He knew how badly you were hurting and he knew who the cause was. He planned on giving it to the cause himself. The practice was over and everyone headed to the locker room. Patty had shot daggers at Auston every time they were even remotely close to one another. Freddie and Mitch tried to keep him at bay but it wasn’t very successful.
“When are you going to take your head out of your ass?” Patty stated suddenly towards Auston as he was unlacing his skates.
“What are you talking about?” Auston tried playing stupid.
“You know exactly what the fuck I am talking about Auston! You are being a selfish child while the girl you supposedly love is hurting so bad that I fucking can’t take it. You just sitting here and pretending that she not out there going through the hardest time in her life heartbroken and all of us just sitting around here letting him fucking do it while we go and see her and let her cry on our shoulders. It’s fucking bullshit!” he roared.
Patty stood up and made his way to tower over Auston in his stall. “You know she tries so hard to be strong in front of all of us. She puts on a smile and tries so hard for those babies. But last night I had to fucking break down your bathroom door because there she was sobbing and couldn’t find it in herself to stand and unlock the door. And then we all sat there while she cried herself to sleep. How do you fucking do it, Matts?”
Patty pulled out his phone and pressed a few things on the screen and then suddenly your sobs filled the locker room. The entire room was silent listening to you cry. The sobs were heart-wrenching. Auston cringed at each one. Mitch said nothing being there himself was enough. Auston needed to hear it. Freddie suddenly took the phone from Patty. “Enough Man.” He stated quietly as he cut the video off.
“I just thought he should hear it too. He can’t fucking ignore it forever. He needs to grow the fuck up Freddie.” He turned back to Auston. “Live with that Matts.”
Patty made his way back to his stall to finish getting undressed. Auston sat in his stall for a while letting the echo of your sobs ring in his ears. Suddenly he was up, he punched his stall and left without a shower. Anderson close behind.
No one told you about the confrontation to not stress you out. Mitch had gone with you to your doctor’s appointment. He insisted on finding out the gender and then keeping it a secret from you so you could have a reveal. He said it would be fun, but honestly it was just stressing you out. You just wanted to know but you allowed Mitch to have his fun. You tried to get him to break but had no luck. When you got back to your place it was a mixture of blues and pinks.
“You did such a good job guys” you stated as you looked in the kitchen at the themed snacks and dinner.
Christina and Steph showed you around and you went upstairs to get ready. You slipped into the soft dress. Your bump was now quite big since it was twice the size. You rubbed your hand over your stomach looking in the mirror.
“Daddy will figure it out, don’t you worry.” You stated in almost a whisper. You knew people would be arriving soon so you made your way downstairs.
You were walking down the stairs when you heard it, the small laugh coming from your kitchen. You had to brace yourself so you wouldn’t fall. That was Ema’s laugh. You made your way into the kitchen expecting your mind to have been playing tricks on you but it wasn’t. She was standing in your kitchen enjoying a pink Oreo while talking to Mitch.
“Mija” she started when she saw you opening her arms. You hugged her as much your bump would allow. You felt the tears flow as you let her stroke your hair. “Come here” she ushered you into the guest room as more guests arrived.
“Mija, why didn’t you call?” she asked as you both sat on the bed.
You wiped your tears with the back of your hand. “I wasn’t sure what Auston had told you and I didn’t want to overstep.” You admitted.
“Mija, you are as much my child as Auston, I have watched you grow up and now you are growing my grandchildren. No matter what happens you are always a part of our family.” She stated like it was nothing and you could feel the tears once again.
“Now I will be here for a bit, so we can catch up later tonight. Let’s go see what these babies are!” Ema smiled as she helped you off the bed. You made your way back into the party and enjoyed the snacks and dinner that Christina and Steph had prepped. You were sitting talking to Lucy while Mitch was talking to your stomach. You laughed as Mitch was explaining something to them about fortnite. You were just about to get up for another helping of food when it happened. The door opened and behind Freddie, Auston made his way into a place that was technically his home. You froze where you were sitting and the air in the room seemed to change. You had wished for this to happen for what seemed like forever but now you didn’t know how to react. Mitch and Freddie exchanged looks as Auston approached you. Freddie gave a long as if he came in peace and you watched Auston without realizing placing a hand on your stomach.
“Can we talk?” he asked softly and you simply nodded. He led you out on the balcony and you sat at the patio table. You were afraid to speak first so you both sat there for a bit in silence. Finally, Auston took a deep breath.
“I’m Sorry” he finally got out and you looked at him, he looked deflated and broken and for the first time, you knew this was affecting him too.
“I was scared Y/N, and I ran and after Patty really gave it to me the other day I realized how selfish I was. Here you are alone and scared and I just ran.”
Suddenly a rush of courage hit you. “I was scared to Auston, I am literally growing two humans and I didn’t get the choice you had. I needed you and you left.”
“I know and I’m really sorry” he tried again grabbing your hand.
“Your teammates were here for me more than you Auston. I mean I thought it was me and you against the world but the minute it gets hard you bolt? That’s not fair to me or these babies.” You got out getting a little bit louder. You were upset and as much as you wanted to just forgive Auston you needed to make sure he was here for the long run. You had to think of these babies and didn’t want them going through a father being in and out of their lives as he felt like it.
Auston was silent not knowing how to respond he knew he fucked up and you were right. Mitch knew more about your pregnancy then he did. Auston reached into his pocket pulling out a crumbled picture worn from being handled so often. You immediately realized it was your first sonogram. “Do you have another one of these I could have? I stole this one off of Mitch’s fridge a while back.” He asked looking down at the picture of the two little beans.
“I have an updated one, they actually look like babies and not lima beans.” You smiled slightly.
“That would be nice,” Auston stated as he ran his finger across the piece of paper.
“I have a DVD too, we could watch it if you would like sometime.” You started when you felt it. It was a kick. You gasped reaching for your stomach. Auston was in front of you immediately.
“Are you okay? Do we need to go to the hospital?” He tried, you noticed Mitch and Patty inching towards the glass door sensing the change. But you just smiled.
You grabbed Auston’s hand and placed it over your bump where you felt it and soon enough there it was again. Auston’s eyes immediately well up with tears.
“There’s really a baby in there...” he stated as stared at your stomach.
“There are Auston and they need you, but only if you are in it for the whole thing. I can’t have you in and out of their lives when things get hard. You can break my heart but I won’t let you break theirs.” You whispered. Auston looked up at you.
“I will spend the rest of my life proving it to you if I have too.” He said as he cupped your face in his hands. You offered him a smile and a nod.
“We should get back to the party.” You stated going to stand as Auston helped you. You were getting big enough that you were starting to wobble. Auston helped you inside and you socialized a bit more. Auston mingled with some of the guys but stayed close to you. Mitch suddenly came out of the kitchen holding multiple confetti cannons.
“Mitchell you do know that you will be cleaning up all that confetti.” You said rolling your eyes thinking of the mess your foyer was about to be in.
“It’s all in good fun Y/N” he smirked as he handed one to Morgan, Freddie, and Patty. “Now you are going to stand in the middle and Christina is going to take your picture as we shoot them to get your reaction.”
“Is this safe?” You question raising an eyebrow.
“Will you stop being a smart ass? I can’t keep this secret for much longer!” Mitch pouted.
You just laughed as you stood in the place where he wanted you, as the boys and Christina got into position, you glanced at Auston watching from the side. You suddenly motioned for him to join you. He was hesitant at first but joined you as everyone watched. You grabbed his hand and stood on your tip toes.
“You should be a part of this too” you whispered squeezing his hand. He nodded pressing a kiss to your temple as the boys twisted the tubes. Pink and Blue confetti surrounded you. You smiled brightly as everyone cheered and came in to congratulate the both of you. You gave out your rounds of hugs best to your ability and talked a bit longer to a few other guests. You were yawning just as the last few people were leaving. Mitch and Steph were still working on cleaning the confetti while Auston and Ema were in the kitchen doing dishes. You made your way into the kitchen and leaned on the island watching as Ema and Auston spoke in Spanish.
“Mija, you look tired go get some rest. I will be here in the morning she smiled drying another dish.” You smiled at the thought of her staying for a bit and catching up when you glanced at Auston wondering if he would be staying too.
And just like he had never left, he read you like an open book.
“Only if you want me to, I can go back to Freddie’s.” He stated as he grabbed a few more plates from the island.
“We want you to” you smiled reaching for his hand. He grabbed it and smiled.
“Take her to get some sleep mijo,” Ema said softly as she ushered you both out of the kitchen. You offered hugs to Mitch and Steph and thanked them for an amazing party and all they had done for you. They hugged both you and Auston and showed themselves out as Auston took you upstairs. You immediately flopped onto the bed fully dressed, you shoe clad feet resting just off the side. Auston chuckled as he lifted each foot and took off your shoe and placed them on the floor. You giggled when he tickled the bottom of your foot.
“Are you sleeping in that?” he asked headed for the closet
“Will you get me one of your shirts? A big one obviously.” You laughed and he matched with one of his own. He came out of the closet now in sweats carrying a large maple leafs shirt for you. You lifted your hands above your head and watched as Auston lifted your dress. He stared at you in awe of your stomach and for the second time placed his large hands on our growing bump. You smiled at him sleepily. He handed you the shirt and you pulled your bra off once it was on. Auston pulled back the covers and got into bed as you drew closer to him you laid at an angle placing your head on his chest.
“God I’ve missed you” he whispered almost where you couldn’t hear him as he ran his fingers through your hair.
And for the first time in a long time, you slept soundly.

“Do you think they’d let me take a photo with Tyler Seguin?” Steph looked over at you with a
completely straight face as she took a sip of champagne.
“I don’t think so,” you laughed, relaxing against your chair. You were at the NHL awards. Auston, Morgan, and Mitch were all nominated for awards.
“But what if I tell him my boyfriend’s Mitch?” Steph continued, frowning into her glass.
“I don’t think Tyler cares who Mitch is.”
Steph sighed and downed the rest of her drink. “He is literally the only reason I came. Now the
highlight of my night will be making sure that Mitch doesn’t get so drunk that he trips over his own feet.”
You couldn’t stop the laugh. You liked caring for the rookies when they had a little too much to drink. It was quite entertaining. Steph though had very little patience for her drunk boyfriend and on more than one occasion you thought she was going to push him down a flight of stairs.
“Still can’t believe we’re here,” Steph said after a moment. “Seems a bit surreal.”
You never thought you would be at an award show, so you understood where she was coming from. It was moments like these that reminded you that Morgan’s life was bigger than you realized. The boys were off doing something for the show. Being Stanley cup winners came with many responsibilities.
When the waiters came around with drink refills, you grabbed one by the arm and offered him your biggest smile. “you wouldn’t happen to know where the ladies’ room is, would you?”
He lifted a brow as he handed you another flute of champagne.
“Uh… yeah, they’re backstage. I can show you.”
You smiled, pushing your chair back as you looked over to Steph. “I’m just going to freshen up my make-up.”
“Don’t be long,” she said. “I think they are coming on after the commercial break. Wouldn’t want to miss Mitch tripping up the stairs.”
You shook your head, laughing quietly to yourself. You got out of your seat and clutched your purse in your hand, pushing a piece of hair behind your ear as you followed the waiter through rows of seats.
Out of the corner of your eye, you caught Morgan staring. He was off to the side of the stage with a laughing Mitch and Auston. You decided not to pay him any attention. You figured he needed to keep his mind focused on his part.
“It’s straight down the hall,” he said after you crossed through a door. Everything was blindingly
bright, a complete contrast from how dim the room the show was being held in was.
“Thank you,” you said quickly.
You did your best to stay out of the way of all the assistants and the whole slew of people babbling into earpieces, weaving between them carefully as your heels clicked against
the floor. It wasn’t a short walk by any means, but you moved as quickly as you could, securing the door to the women’s restroom shut before You stopped in front of the mirror.
You were recapping the tube of lipstick when the door swung open. You turned your head just in time to see a grin sweep across Morgan’s face.
“This is the ladies’ room,” You said, narrowing your eyes as you leaned your hip against the counter.
Morgan shrugged, shutting the door and twisting the lock until it latched.
“You are supposed to be going on in just a few minutes,” You told him, sighing as he took a few steps closer to you.
He hummed, grinning wildly as he grabbed you by the waist, pulling you against him as you knocked your make-up case off the counter.
“Morgan.”
“Y/N,” he mocked.
You frowned. “You shouldn’t be in here.”
He shrugged, locking his arms around you. “I just want a kiss.”
You sighed. “No, I just fixed my lipstick.”
“Just one,” he pouted. “I only want one kiss.”
It wasn’t that you didn’t want to kiss him; You did. He looked cute in his suit and he smelled nice. You just thought there was a time and a place, and it definitely wasn’t right now.
“One, he said, grinning as he ducked his head. His nose brushed against yours, dimples the size of quarters formed into his cheeks. “Kiss.”
Before you could tell him no, his lips were pressed against yours, trapping you in a long, indulgent kiss. You didn’t know what he’d been drinking, but it was so strong that the taste left you dizzy. Sighing into his mouth, you forgot why you were so against it in the first place.
When you tried to pull away to catch your breath, Morgan stole a few more short kisses, grinning against your lips as he pulled you closer.
“That was more than one kiss, Morgan,” You sputtered out, completely winded and gasping for air. Had he not had a hold around your waist, you was sure you would have melted into a puddle on the floor.
He didn’t say anything. Instead, he smiled and kissed you again, pushing you back against the counter as he ran his hands up and down your sides. The way the fabric of your dress moved against your skin drew out a string of quiet giggles that got swallowed up in Morgan’s mouth.
“Trouble,” you said, pressing your hands to his chest to push him away. “You’re nothing but trouble.”
He grinned. “You can give me some time in the penalty box later.”
You rolled your eyes at him as he leaned in for another kiss, his lips barely brushing mine before you both heard the soft echo of the maple leafs players being announced on stage.
“Shit,” Morgan cursed, dropping his arms from around You as he staggered back. He was already fumbling with the door before you could stop him.
“Morgan!” You winced, rubbing your hand over your forehead. It was too late. He was already halfway down the hall and not paying you any attention.
Sighing, You quickly picked up your make-up from the floor, shoving it into your bag before you sprinted down the hallway. By the time you got back to the show, Morgan was out of breath and flustered on stage.
“Uh…sorry had to have a quick trip to the bathroom. He whispered into the microphone as you sat down in your chair. Both Mitch and Auston were almost in tears laughing. They could hardly get through their bit.
Steph shot You a knowing look, one brow twisted as she grinned. “Nice shade of lipstick your
boyfriend’s wearing,” she said into your ear. “Did he pick it out himself?”
You blushed, pressing your lips together. You tried to stop him, wanting to tell him to wipe his face, but you never got the chance. Judging by the red stain smudged over his lips, the whole world was going to know what he was actually getting up to in the bathroom.
“I can’t wait to read the headlines tomorrow,” Steph mused as the boys said their parts.
“What do you reckon they’ll say?” you whined, burying your face in your hands. “You don’t want to think about it.”
“It could be worse, yeah?”
You frowned. “How could it possibly be worse than this?”
Steph shrugged. “At least he made it on stage?”
You sighed. “I think I’d rather he didn’t.”
“Drink this,” Steph laughed, pushing your glass towards You. “You’ll forget all about it after a few more.”
As You watched the camera pan to Morganon the big screen, a napkin in his hand as he finally wiped his face on the side of the stage. You downed half of your drink and prayed people would forget about this by morning.

“Just one more store.”  You were already halfway through the door, not giving Morgan the chance to protest.
“It was one more store five stores ago!” Morgan cried, following closely behind as you made your way through displays of nutcrackers and reindeers. It was the week before Christmas and were way behind schedule. The mall was packed and you had already been stopped multiple times.
“My arms have gone numb! I am carrying like five million bags. I can’t feel my fingers. It’s cold and I’m tired. I want to go home.” Morgan cried as his eyebrows scrunched and lips pouted, his knuckles white as he held the three shopping bags in each hand. You might have told him it wouldn’t take long, but you got a little carried away after the first store, and here you were three hours later.
“I’ll just be a minute, Mo. I promised the boys we would make gingerbread house and I can’t make gingerbread houses without a gingerbread man cutter.”
Morgan groaned. “This is absolute torture. I don’t even like gingerbread. And you know the guys aren’t even going to be able to even do it right.”
You rolled your eyes as you searched for the aisle you were looking for.
You know there is nothing holly or jolly about any of this and you said it would be fun! I’ve yet to have any fun. All I’ve done is carry around your bags and try on three different shirts, shirts that weren’t even for me!
You had been shopping with the boys plenty of times. You had dealt with enough temper tantrums between Mitch and Auston to know that it was best to just let them get it out.
Watching him stand there all bundled up in his coat and hat, nearly tipping over from all the bags well, it melted your heart. You let him finish his complaints and made your way over to where he was standing.
“I’m sorry. You’ve been so patient all day and here I am dragging you into another store.” You smiled, closing the space between the two of you as you reached up to fix the collar of his jacket.
“Mmm” he muttered, biting at a piece of skin on his bottom lip. “You’re an absolute pain in my ass you know.”
“Where are your manners, Morgan?” You laugh.
“Dunno,” he shrugged repositioning the bags in his hands.
You smile rolling onto the tips of your toes, placing a quick kiss on his nose before settling back on your heels. “Just let me find that cookie cutter and then we can go.”
“Or you can just forget about the cookie cutter and we can go now.” Morgan tried with a smile leaning towards the door.
You smile, shaking your head. “I’m not going to forget about the cookie cutter. But you head to the car and warm it up, I will be there in just a few minutes I promise.”

Connor’s POV:
Naz and Jake dumped an entire cooler of water on me after our win tonight. Apparently, that was their birthday gift to me. We were in Vancouver. It was cold. I wanted to go back to the hotel. I didn’t care that it was my birthday and they’d planned a party, I wasn’t keen on celebrating.
Even the present Y/N had sent—a note on the card telling me not to open until the game was over—held little of my interest. It sat still wrapped in my stall.
After I got out of the shower, I headed into the locker room to grab the rest of my things so I could head back to the hotel. I found Mitch standing in front of my stall, scraps of ripped wrapping paper scattered at his feet. When he turned around, his mouth was covered in and crumbs.
“Did you open my present?” I snapped.
Mitch rolled his lips together, a smile tight against his cheeks. “Y/N sent you cookies.”
I frowned. “You ate my birthday present?”
Mitch shrugged. “You couldn’t be bothered with it, so we didn’t want them to go to waste—“
“We?” I snapped. “Did you eat all of them?”
“I mean, it wasn’t just me,” he said. “Zach and Auston had one and then one fell on the floor so…”
“They were mine,” I hissed. “Did you even look at the card?”
Mitch nodded. “It’s cute how she puts a little heart next to Ginger. Really shows you that she cares.”
I grabbed my duffle from the floor, crossing the strap over my shoulder as I glared at him. “I can’t believe you didn’t save me one.”
Mitch tossed the wrapper into the bin, shrugging again. “I think you’ve had more than your fair share of her cupcakes.”
I snarled. “That’s not the point. They were mine.”
“You shouldn’t have taken your time in the shower. What were you even doing? Missing Y/N a little too much?”
“You’re such a fucking ass,” I hissed, grabbing my phone and the card Mitch tossed onto the bench of my stall. I stormed out of the locker room, ignoring his muffled happy birthday as I turned down the corridor. Outside, the car was waiting by the curb to take me to the hotel.
I suppose my lack of birthday cheer had something to do with being alone in Vancouver on my birthday. I asked Y/N to come out, but with school, she still had her hands full. And even though it had only been a few days since we left for this roadie, I missed her.
At the hotel, I signed a few autographs for fans before I was ushered inside. Morgan tried
to convince me to go out and have a drink in the lobby, but I wasn’t in the mood. With a promise to call him if I changed my mind, I got on the elevator and then made my way down to my and Auston’s room. I opened the door after sliding the keycard, sighing as I dropped my duffle down next to a suitcase.
The first thing I noticed was, well, the suitcase that definitely didn’t belong to me. The second thing I noticed was that the TV was off. Auston and I had been in such a rush before I had to leave for to the arena that he had left it on.
Cautiously, I took a step forward. This could have easily been housekeeping and the bellhop could have delivered luggage to the wrong room, but I still had to be a little wary. I knew Auston had gone out with the guys. I watched him get into a cab with the rest of the guys.
I wasn’t sure what I was expecting when I turned the corner, but it definitely wasn’t her.
Sitting cross-legged on my bed in a pair of leggings and a gray sweatshirt she had stolen from my closet, Y/N grinned when she saw me. “Special delivery for the birthday boy,” she said, holding up a box much like the one Mitch had destroyed.
“You’re here,” was all I could manage to sputter out.
She smiled. “Of course I’m here. Where else would I be on your birthday?” She asked.
She stood up, holding out the box to me as she took a step closer. “I made your favorite,” she quipped. “I knew someone might eat your other present so I brought more just in case”
I smiled, lifting the lid just enough to see a half dozen cookies.
“You didn’t have to do this,” I said, reaching in to grab one. I took a quick bite, chewing it fully before I continued. “I know you’re busy.”
“I might have finished my last paper a little earlier than I thought. Besides, I’m never too busy for a birthday, especially when that birthday is yours.”
I laughed, grabbing her hand before it brushed against her side. I gave her a quick tug, allowing her to stumble into me before I slipped my arms around her waist. “I’m glad you’re here,”
“I didn’t like the idea of spending my birthday without you.”
She smiled as she draped her arms over my shoulders, tilting her head as she continued to smirk up at me. “I heard you are being thrown a party. We still have time to meet the others for drinks,” she suggested.
“I’d rather stay here with you.” I said, slipping my hands underneath the hem of her shirt. Her skin was warm and soft, a string of giggles slipping from her mouth as I brushed my fingers against her sides.
She sighed out slowly, rolling onto the tips of her toes. It only lifted her a few inches, but it was enough. “I think I’d be okay with that.”
“Well, good,” I said, smiling as I hunched down to catch her in a kiss. I loved that when she laughed—because she always did the second my thumbs swept across her ribs—her lips hummed against mine, sending soft vibrations trickling down my spine. She left me dizzy in the best possible way.
With her bottom lip caught between my teeth, she pulled away. Half of a smirk curved up her cheek as she leaned into me. “Happy birthday, Ginger.”

You were having a smooth pregnancy. Your doctor’s raved about how picture perfect it was, and everyone talked about how much you glowed in every aspect. Tyler couldn’t be more helpful and loving. Everything was great, so great, that your son was refusing to come and join the party.
You were growing more and more frustrated each day that past. You were currently three days past your due date and were ready more than ever to evict your son from your uterus. The doctor had put you on bedrest for the remainder of days until you met your son.
You were watching the clock on your bedside table. You were growing more annoyed as you listened to your husband snore as you stared at the blinking numbers.
“Tyler get up, It’s time.” You suddenly stated as you began to sat up.
Tyler flew out of bed and was frantically rushing around the room. “Did your water break?”
“No”
“Are you having contractions?”
“No” Tyler stopped short with your last response.
“Babe, what makes you think it’s time?” He questioned with a confused look on his face.
“Because this crap needs to end now. Let’s go to the hospital and they can hook me up to whatever we need to do to get your son out of me.”
He looked at you like you were crazy. “Is this the hormones or have you always been this crazy?”
You glared at him but he just chuckled. “Babe lay back down and try to get some rest.” He tried.
You huffed and shimmied back under the covers. Tyler crawled back in bed and rubbed your arm.
“I know I have that shoot with ESPN Magazine tomorrow but I can cancel if you want me to stay home with you.”
“No, you go. This baby is going to be holding us both hostage here soon enough, you should get out while you still can.” You stated as you closed your eyes. You drifted to sleep as your husband chuckled.
You had made it halfway down the stairs to get a glass of water when you heard the door open. It was way too early for Tyler to be back from his shoot. He had just texted you that he had gotten there when you started to head down the stairs. You hadn’t been here that long had you.
“I’m pregnant if you are going to murder me. Just so you know, let that be on your conscious” you called out.
You heard Jamie chuckle.
“Aren’t you supposed to be on bed rest?” he asked as he rounded the corner and found you sitting in the middle of the stairs.
“I decided to be on stair-rest for a little bit.” You shot him a sarcastic smile.
“Let me help you.” He chuckled as he helped you over to the couch.
“So how are you feeling mama?”
“What do you think Captain Obvious” you shot his way.
“Baby’s making you grumpy. But anyways, Katie sent me over here to tell you about this yoga that will help you induce child labor.”
You gave him a look but shrugged. “At this point, I will try anything. Plus, if it doesn’t work maybe you doing yoga will make me laugh hard enough, I will break my own water.”
“You weren’t always this mean you know.”
You both stood in the middle of your living room.
“Okay,to now we are going to bend down in a squat position. So down”
You followed Jamie’s instruction but once you were down, you realized you were not coming back up.
“And now we will go up...” Jamie looked over at you. “We need to go up Y/N.”
“That seems to be an issue for me Jam”
He chuckled and made his way over to help you up. You thanked him for his help. You spoke for a bit longer and soon he left you to your own devices. You were resting on the couch when you heard the door open once again.
“Where is my favorite baby mama!” you heard a Russian accent ring through your house.
“Hi Rads” you smiled from your place on the couch.
“I come baring gifts.” He pulled up his arm to reveal the bags of takeout.
“This is why you are my favorite.”
“It is said that spicy food, help induce you!” He smiled obviously excited when himself.
“We can try.” You smiled making your way to the table.
Radalov disappeared into your dining room, only to stick his head back through the door. “You coming?”
“This is how fast I go now. Deal with it.”
“Snippy, I like.” He laughed.
You both finally sat down. The food tasted pretty bland to you at the moment but you could never trust your taste buds these days. You look over at Radalov who seemed to be struggling.
“You okay there, buddy.” You questioned
“This isn’t spicy to you? I asked for extra spice, maybe too strong.”
“The little one seems to like it.” You rubbed your stomach at your now very active son.
Radalov wished you the best of luck and excused himself from your home. He seemed to be traveling a little fast out your front door.
You just chuckled and made your way back to your seat on the couch, allowing Cash to cuddle up to your legs.
“Mademoiselle!” You now heard the French accent chime through your living room. You must had fallen asleep because you were now awoken by Antoine, Devin and John making their way into your living room.
“Let me guess, you are here to help me go into labor.”
“Nope, we just wanted to keep you company.” Devin offered.
“Plus I brought some of my favorite French films!” Roussel started.
“If you come out right now, I will buy you your own pony” you stated to your stomach.
“I’ll buy you the barn!” John added.
“Hey!” Roussel called from the tv stand.
You all shared a laugh. No matter how long he stayed in you, you knew when he finally did make his entrance, he was going to be one loved little star.

Episode One: Let’s Get Started
The Mackinnons
You were still staring at the small stick in your hand. You looked at the two pink lines over and over again. It just still was not registering in your mind. There was no way you were pregnant, you couldn’t be.
You and Nate had been married for a few years now but there was never any talk of kids, like ever. But then again when could you ever even have the conversation? Babies weren’t exactly something you talked about over the loud bass of club music.
You had always thought that over the years the partying would slow down and you and Nate would settle into married life. But Nate showed no signs of slowing down if anything he was full speed ahead. You didn’t mind going out and having a good time, but it was a daily thing with Nate. You were sure it was worse on road trips when he didn’t have you slowing him down as he partied late until the wee hours of the mornings.
How tired you were getting lately and the sensitivity to smells was now all making sense. You were pregnant. You weren’t even sure when you had even gotten pregnant, to be honest. You and Nate definitely were not trying and used protection. Maybe you had forgotten to take one of your pills last month.
You grabbed your pills from the spot they sat in your purse and sure enough you were a day off. You hadn’t even noticed. Work had been getting stressful lately, and you had a particularly pushy and demanding bride. You sighed and rubbed your hands down your face.
You needed to schedule a doctor’s appointment. You flipped through your datebook, sighing as you looked at the filled pages. You could probably squeeze an appointment between a fitting with one of your brides and a meeting with a caterer. You were still looking through your options for dates when you heard a commotion in the front room. Nate was home. You scurried to grab everything from the bathroom and hid it in your vanity. You held the one stick in your hand. Better to get this over with now. You walked down the stairs and were met with your husband, obviously drunk, passed out at the bottom of them. You closed your eyes for a moment before sliding the stick into your pocket and looking at Gabe and Tyson.
“Just help me get him upstairs please.”
Tonight is just not your night.

“Give me a chance.”
“Not you again…”
“Leave me alone.”
“Why do you hate me?”
“I don’t love you anymore.”
“I thought you loved me.”
“I lost the baby.”
“Don’t leave me…”
“We can’t keep this up forever.”
“I never meant to hurt you.”
“Are you upset with me?”
“I wish I’d never met you.”
“I’m going to kill you!”
“Please don’t hurt me like this.”
“Thanks for nothing.”
“Don’t call this number again.”
“You need to leave.”
“I wish I’d never met you.”
“I thought we were family!”
“There was never a us.”
“So that’s it? It’s over?”
“I fucked up.”
“I came to say goodbye.”
“About the baby… It’s yours”
“That’s starting to get annoying”
“Hey, hey, calm down. They can’t hurt you anymore.”
“You can’t just sit there all day.”
“I’m too sober for this.”
“Well, that’s tragic.”
“You’re seriously like a man-child.”
“Good thing I didn’t ask for your opinion.”
“I don’t want to hear your excuse.”
“Are you sure that’s the decision you want to make?”
“I could punch you right now.”
“Are you going to talk to me?”
“STOP INTERRUPTING ME!”
“You’re not interested, are you?”
“Help me pack or get out. You’re in the way.”
“We’re not just friends and you fucking know it.”
“Please don’t cry. I can’t stand to see you cry”
“Stay with me”
“Walk out that door and we’re through”
“Well. Yell, scream, say something. Anything”
“I can’t breathe”
“I hate how much I love you”
“Why are you so jealous?”
“Where do you think you’re going”
“Just leave me alone”
“I need some time”
“Despite what you think, I am completely capable of taking care of myself”
“You can’t keep pretending it didn’t happen, cause guess what? It did!”
“Just please be my best friend right now, not the guy I just confessed my love to.”
“Stop pretending you’re okay, cause I know you’re not.”
“Just talk to me”
“I’m so in love with you.”
“I wish we could stay like this forever.”
“Will you marry me?”
“I’m pregnant.”
“I need a hug.”
“You’re special to me.”
“I’m going to keep you safe.”
“Do you trust me?”
“Can I kiss you right now?”
“You’re cute when you’re angry.”
“I’ve liked you for a while now.”
“Let’s have a baby.”
“It’s lonely here without you.”
“I can’t stand the thought of losing you.”
“Shut up and kiss me already.”
“Are you flirting with me?”
“Is that my shirt?”
“You’re making me blush!”
“You’re teasing me again…”
“This is why I fell in love with you.”
“They’re going to love you, don’t worry!”
“Are you jealous?”
“Hold me and never let me go.”
“Stop hogging all the blankets!”
“I think I’m in love with you, and that scares the crap out of me”
“I think you’re just afraid to be happy”
“Why are you so nice to me”
“Choose me”
“We’ll get through this, I promise”
“You’re so fucking hot when you’re mad”
“You’re mine. I don’t share”
“If we get caught I’m blaming you”
“Make me”
“Do you want to kiss as bad as I do right now”
“I think I forgot how to breath”
“Stop biting that fucking lip!”
“You’re blushing”
“I missed something didn’t I?”
“You come to my room and wake me up at 4 am, to cuddle?”
“Catch me if you can!”
“I’m fine.”
“Are you drunk?”
“Don’t touch me.”
“Well, that’s pretty rude of you to say.”
“Get that thing away from me!”
“You owe me.”
“Don’t make me come over there myself!”
“Let me help you with that.”
“Was I really that drunk?”
“Give me back my phone!”
“I can take care of myself just fine.”
“Since when have we ever been friends?”
“What on earth are you wearing?”
“Stop texting me weird stuff so late at night.”
“Put me down!”
“There’s only one bed…”
“It isn’t what it looks like! Okay. Maybe it is…”
“This is awkward.”
“I’m not here to make friends.”
“I need a place to stay.”
“You can’t banish me! This is my bed too!”
“The ladies love a guy who’s good with kids.”
“They’re so cute when they’re asleep.”
“It’s six o’clock in the morning, you’re not having vodka.”
“How is my wife more badass than me?”
“You’re getting a vasectomy. That’s final.”
“I’m late.”
“Just get home as soon as possible, okay?!”
“Enough with the sass!”
“Show me what’s behind your back.”
“I’m not going to be sympathetic until you go to a doctor.”
“Fine, don’t say anything and make me worry.”
“Sleep in your car if you don’t like it.”
“You didn’t do the dishes, I’m not doing you.”
