a/n: happy autism awareness/acceptance month! i am fully aware of my autism and have come to accept it 🙃 yes, i am autistic and some of these scenarios i have experienced myself. also they’re all probably good at a lot of these but i just stuck to like one (twoish for hannie) per… thing. idk i can’t think. i wrote skz first bc they felt the safest when it came to being autistic/nd but lmk if y’all want any other groups

chan- chris makes a big mistake every few months by showing you a new song he’s working on and it triggers your auditory stim. he’ll have to email you the file so you can listen to it on repeat until the next one is finished. all it takes is a look and he sighs knowing he has to send you the file right away.

lee know- the best at respecting you during your non speaking periods. he finds all kinds of different ways to communicate without you having to speak. it’s usually by text but sometimes he’ll use his hands for opinions and even learn a little sign language. he’s also careful not to talk too much or be too loud bc he knows these times are usually bc you’re overstimulated.

changbin- always keeps a backup pair of headphones in his bag. you’re usually pretty good about charging your headphones before going anywhere but just in case, he’s got a pair on standby.

hyunjin- super careful with his art. one time he drew something that slightly resembled holes and you were so triggered you screamed off and on for like an hour.

han- great at deep pressure. he always checks before hugging or touching you but if you’re feeling overstimulated and need a tight hug, jisung’s your man. also really great at body doubling so you can get some work done.

felix- truly the best when it comes to safe foods. he knows if it’s not safe, you don’t eat and he wants to make sure you always eat. good at making excuses for other people when you’re out so you can eat your safe foods and not feel judged. always has some kind of safe snack in his bag.

seungmin- best listener. he’ll ask you one or two questions about your special interests and let’s you talk as much as you want. even if he has absolutely no interest in the topic, he still just likes for you to talk about it as much as you want. also loves when you just start talking about it randomly.

i.n- BEST PEBBLER!!! not only does he love when you give him little random gifts but he’s really the best at giving gifts. he always finds the coolest rocks it’s truly insane. he keeps his little collection of trinkets you give him lined up on his dresser (it’s lined up perfectly and it’s so satisfying). if you’re into bugs he also sends you pics of the bugs he finds.

• it was a little awkward cuz he had no idea exactly what was going on but he learned quickly!!!

• you push him away because human contact is too much rn? no worries. you zone out mid-sentence? all good, he’ll bring you back gently. you start rambling about a special interest?? he will listen!!! he does not care if he’s busy!!!!

• you aren’t a burden to him at all and it really is just. comforting to know ㅠㅠ hhhhhh

MINHO

• I have to start this by saying he brushes his cats for you before you visit so they’re very soft and have no potential for any bad textures

• is totally fine with you coming over to his house all the time because he knows animals make you happy

• he’s definitely fine with visits where you both just sit in silence or one of you talks the whole time while the other just listens

• definitely the type to keep stuffed animals or comforting clothing saved in his house for if you’re stressed or need to stay over

• he’s okay with not wanting physical contact like hugs. he’s just not that kinda guy so it works out lol!!

• because a lot of his jokes are sarcastic or teasing he’s started doing jazz hands whenever he’s making a joke so you can tell if he’s serous or not

• plus it’s really funny seeing him make an annoyed joke and then doing the jazz hands after while he’s all grumpy

• he notices the little things and changes them

• very willing to make small changes in his life to help u (:

• sends u texts with pictures of his cats where he’s reminding you to take a break or he’s gonna “let Dori eat your socks” or something like that

• rents movies you hyperfixate on and stays up late talking about them with you

• he later buys the movies lol

CHANGBIN

• ngl this man screams neurodivergency to me

• idk he’s my bias so I kinda look at him a lot and he just. stims a lot and has those random bursts of energy??? he has trouble with telling how loud he is??? sometimes reacts “inappropriately” to a situation??? And he zones out a lot??? idk I could explain this better but like. he and I have a lot in common and I’m very autistic so

• the lip biting thing he does all the time could totally be a stim (especially thinking about how he does it a lot in interviews or when he’s put on the spot, yk??), he has a very consistent style and doesn’t change up his hair like. ever. likes wearing hats and big clothes and kinda hides in them

• idk man I have been thinking!!! this isn’t like a “headcanon” or whatever I legitimately can see him being neurodivergent (idk I know Korea sucks about that kind of shit so ig we’ll never know??? but h)

• anyways on that note

• you guys trade clothes all the time because they r just. good comfy!!!! good associations!!!! plus you both dress for comfort so all of your clothes are safe clothes

• y’all will just hang out on the floor on your phones and just enjoy being together (:

• when one of you stims it triggers the other person’s stims and soon you guys r just having a little stimfest

• you both can tell when each other needs a break or a distraction if things are getting too much

• like you keep an eye on him in the studio and if he gets frustrated with a song you challenge him to a Mario Kart battle on your phones or start talking about something you saw out shopping and how cool it was

• and he does the same- if you’re stressed he’ll lay down next to you and start talking about the song he’s working on and what everything means and little details and all of that. or asks if you want to go out and get food

• y’all got matching stim toys, little stuffed animal keychains that crinkle a little when you squeeze them. changbin says it’s embarrassing but you know he likes it.

• you can talk without actually speaking like. you just Understand if you look at each other

• you just both know each other well and can read each other well and it’s just. very balanced and peaceful and calming ((((:

HYUNJIN

• first of all I’ve been watching this gif on loop hdbbdhvshdbjfjfjdhbdjfkfknbsvahg. help. men. specifically this man.

• lets you fidget with his hands and rings

• like you can just grab his hands when he’s talking with someone and he won’t even flinch just let you do whatever while he continues his convo

• definitely also lets you style his hair if that’s your thing too

• braid his hair and then let it down and then braid it up and then let it down etc etc (((:

• loves trying to find you new stim toys it’s like a challenge

• he wears those fidget rings all the time like the ones that spin????? just in case you need something

• after you tell him you got overstimulated during one of the concerts he works on getting the crew to be a bit kinder with the flashing lights and gets you to be allowed backstage so you can watch privately away from crowds (:

• you’re his favorite person ngl he loves doing nothing with you

• he is whipped he is at your beck and call.

• you’re so peaceful and kind and inquisitive and knowledgeable and always have something new to offer him

• he likes watching you interact with you special interests because your eyes get so bright and you get so excited, even when it’s overwhelming and you’re struggling

• he likes how you notice things he doesn’t, especially things about himself

• like you point out a new freckle that wasn’t there a few weeks ago or how he cuts grapes in half instead of just eating them whole just basic stuff like that

JISUNG

• this man has absolute monkey brain

• you will never be understimulated or bored with this dude

• he’s very receptive to the world around him for better or for worse, so he catches on quickly to if you’re struggling and makes an effort to avoid stressors from there on out

• when you’re stressed in public he just talks about nonsense that you don’t have to reply to if you don’t want to, just to keep you present

• and if you’re not in a talking mood he’s synced up your headphones with his so when you play your music he can listen too if he wants

• once he left to grab something and the song changed and this man comes sprinting back into the room with whatever he grabbed and is like “holy shit this is a banger what’s it called”

• he kinda gets distracted himself sometimes and can be a bit too exuberant or make annoying noises but he corrects his behavior immediately

• like I said he’s very aware of things

• it’s hard sometimes, cuz he definitely lives for those adrenaline rushes

• but he wants you with him the whole way and wants you to feel safe and happy

• steals borrows your stim toys on complete accident

• it’s all good you just “borrow” them back later lol

• does not like big social events so that’s a plus

• he’s clingy asf so at any event he won’t just ditch you to talk to his friends Nah you’re joined at the hip he will Not let you go unless he’s sure you’re 100000% safe and even then he’ll check in like “u sure you don’t want to hang out with me hmmm”

• he loves getting excited about things with you!!!

• always keeping track of your special interests and remembers things about them!!!!

• he’ll be like “yeah so I remember the time you said something about (x) and I’ve been thinking about it” and you’re like “holy shit you remembered” (pls this shit is true love.)

• sees things that reminds him of you and comes home and tells you about them

• also lets you play with his fingers and braid his hair

• leaves you notes or sends you texts to remind you of things or just make sure you know his schedule !!!

• he is an excellent listener and you two can just chat for hours comfortably and be open with each other and there’s no shyness or anxiety

• will never judge you for an interest end of story!!!

• he knows remembering to eat is hard so he also sends texts reminding you to eat something!!! he always has snacks somewhere

• he’s so goofy and lighthearted uGh I love him sm I just want to hug this guy ))))):

SEUNGMIN

• this man definitely has a weekly planner set up on Google drive or something where you can both see recent edits or whatever that you write your schedules on

• he also writes notes about his schedule, usually something about how he hates dance practice ):<

• it’s very funny he is a funny little dude

• another one who is totally fine with just vibing in the same room without talking

• he has a rlly soothing voice so if you’re stressed he just talks about random stuff and it helps ))))):

• is quick to tell others off if they don’t listen to you when you ask them to stop something or if they’re stressing you out

• normalizes some of the shit you do so you don’t feel bad

• like “yeah we can definitely order to-go. no they won’t question it we just have to look busy lol” or “dude everyone wears their headphones in public it’s not weird” or “honestly who doesn’t like the sound of rocks clicking together?” etc etc

• I definitely think he tries to steer away from the topic in public as much as possible so you don’t feel like. weird yk??

• he’s great with coming up with excuses for why you can’t do something or why you need to leave early

• not that he wants to hide your neurodivergency, just that it’s hard

• like apparently “I’m too overstimulated” isn’t a fucking valid excuse smh

• plus like. he doesn’t want anyone demeaning you because of whatever

• will fight. no questions asked. passive aggressive comments are his forte.

• gives the best hugs. not too much pressure, not too much touching, yk???

• uGh he’s just always willing to listen and learn and sit through multi-hour long philosophical talks even with all the zoning out and backtracking and jumping around

• I need me a man like this tbh

JEONGIN

• he’s used to being nagged about being the youngest or most childish so he genuinely doesn’t judge anything you’re into, even if it’s “out of your age range”

• like he doesn’t see why it’s that big of a deal that you enjoy something??? like everyone needs to calm down and let you live???

• when you infodump he absorbs everything with big eyes

• ugh he’s silly and teasing and just generally a comfort to be around

• can read body language well and so he can let you know how people are acting plus he can tell if you’re stressed

• very much a pro at finding comfortable ways to have physical contact with you

• sometimes you’ll both just talk for ages about your lives or stresses or whatever while you lay on the floor and eat ramen or candy

• just vibing!!!

• even though he’s your partner he’s very much your closest friend and confidante and you two would just. do anything for each other and are always willing to help

immediately figures out what is wrong and changes it

gives you your head/earphones and plays your favorite music

asks if you want to be touched before asking to hug or soothe you

tries to take you away from everywhere to a quiet place

does his best to have noise cancelling headphones wherever you at (one at the dorms and at his studio)

when he learns more of your triggers he helps you avoid them

is very patient if you’re short with him (he has to deal with changbin..)

You never got the chance to hear the finished song you had helped Chan with, and when you get there, the music is a lot louder than you expected. You sit down and fidget, and not too long after you get there, the boys get a break. You gladly hug Chan, but Jeongin or someone screams and you freak out. Your hands are shaking and you’re doing your best not to rock, but your breathing gets erratic. Chan figures out very quickly what is happening and puts his headphones on your head and plays some soft music. If you use an inhaler, he would get it for you and help you take it. Chan knows he has to keep working, so he picks you up when you calm down a little more, bringing you to his studio. He lays you down on the couch in there with a soft kiss to your forehead. Chan gives you a blanket and makes sure you are comfortable before he heads back to practice. Chan works hard and does his best so he can take you home for cuddles, if you want.

is narrow in his redirections; he gives you his cats to pet if you touch something gross, shows you pictures of his cats if you saw something that you didn’t like, etc.

he will get mad at the others if they wear a fabric of something you don’t like around you

does not like when you are short with him, so he quickly learns your signs of what upsets you to get you calm before that can happen

reminds you to do self care !

It had been too long since you had seen the boys, and you finally got to see Minho’s kitties again! You weren’t expecting so many people to be there, which immediately stressed you out. But then when Changbin gives you a soul crushing hug and he is wearing corduroy, your break. You almost start crying when you ask him to let you go, and Changin thinks he hurts you. You flex out your hands and rub them on your chest, shaking your head. Minho sits you down, calling his cats. One of them meows at you and he brings them into your lap. You gently pet the kitty, relaxing slowly from the good touch. He scratches the kitty’s head before kissing yours, and softly explains to Changbin and the others that you really don’t like corduroy and certain fabrics.

if this poor boy didn’t know what was going on, he may keep bothering you

but there is no way you would be his partner if you didn’t secretly like it

he does his best to be mindful of things that bother you (not wearing too much cologne, not wearing a fabric, etc.)

Changbin had promised that you and him would watch a movie together, but when you went over to the dorm, some were loudly cooking, others were using the tv, and it was just not quiet and calm as you expected. You end up being very short with him about wanting to just watch the movie already. He softly apologizes and brings you to his room to watch it instead, doing aegyo to make you laugh or smile, even if only a little.

𝐡𝐲𝐮𝐧𝐣𝐢𝐧

hyunjin is a soft bean

he just wants to hug or cuddle you to help you calm down

he will lay on top of you to be your personal weighted blanket (after you assure him he won't crush you)

You went to the mall, and never expected to walk past such a strongly scented store. It leaves you gagging and the perfume burns your sinuses, and it doesn’t take much longer for Hyunjin to notice. He pulls you aside and hugs you. You stiffen for a moment at the sudden action, but soon relax into his hold as the scent of his cologne permeates your senses. “You’re alright, we can avoid that store on the way back,” he would softly assure you.

Initially, you were really curious about the lime juice Jisung was hyping up. But when he somehow convinced you to drink it without smelling it, your mistake was vital. You nearly throw up as you drink pickle juice. You couldn’t remember if he was aware of your strong aversion, but he knew you refused to eat them. You gulp a lot of water down, but it was still burning your sinuses. Jisung feels super guilty as he finds tissues, napkins, just anything to help as he apologizes. He would do his best to remember things you don’t like from then on, and avoid pickles at all cost (and perhaps even go as far as to brush his teeth any time he eats ones before he is with you).

But what you didn’t know was that there was a smoking spot nearby, or else people were smoking where they shouldn’t have been. It chokes you up, almost overwhelming you as you barely manage to get to the dorms. Felix sees the anxiety in your posture and can easily smell what’s wrong. He brings you in and sits you in the kitchen with a freshly made brownie. You slowly eat it, the delightful smell of chocolate lingering on your tongue. Felix soon returns with a fresh pair of clothing, kissing your forehead and offers you the shower.

When you’re on your way home with Seungmin, it starts storming right as you get back. You can feel yourself shaking as you do your best to get inside. Your fingers fumble as you get out of the car and unlock the door. A soft “I’m scared,” escapes you after a loud clap of thunder, which causes you to flinch violently. “Don’t be, it’s just the weather,” he would dismiss lightly, getting inside with you. As the storm brews louder, you feel yourself quivering. When you repeat that you are scared, Seungmin sighs a little and shakes his head before he gets up. He comes back and sits next to you, his guitar in his lap. “Come here,” he murmurs, setting your hand on the body of his guitar. He slowly begins to play, letting the vibrations of the strings fill your senses and calm you.

When you go to see the boys in the practice room, you were already hot and exhausted. Your temper was short and you were more blunt than usual. You sit on the floor and eat your current favorite snack, but Jeongin takes the bag and finishes it by taking the last piece. “Jeongin! You didn’t ask, you asshole!” You snap, irritated that he stole your snack and didn’t ask. Your eyebrows furrow and you know you were mean, but he goes over to the others and asks for help. He sheepishly comes back and asks you what is wrong and (if you have a uterus) if it is that time of the month and need anything. You say no and apologize, managing to explain that you were overwhelmed with everything. He immediately perks back up. “You don’t have to stay, you know. I appreciate you being here but your health and happiness is very important to me. I want you to have fun hanging out with me, and if you need to go home and relax, I’m okay with that.” Jeongin would reassure you that he loves having you at practice, but he doesn’t want you stressed out.

chan- immediately concerned and wants to know more about how it effects you bc he knows everyone is different. he starts paying more attention to you from then on and tries to learn all he can to help you when needed. he’s incredibly respectful towards you.

lee know- he’s kinda confused. he doesn’t know much about autism so he doesn’t really know what to do or say but he loves you and he’s incredibly supportive. he does what he can to understand you better. doesn’t really make a big deal about anything and he works harder not to let things upset him (like stimming and stuff). eventually it’s kinda funny bc he even starts mentioning stuff that you don’t even know.

changbin- he kinda feels bad. he knows it’s hard for you and it was even hard to tell him. he starts thinking back to all the times he might have been to forcefully affectionate or loud. he starts to become more aware of his behavior around you and wants to do his best not to trigger anything. it starts to feel a little weird between you for a bit just bc he’s SO worried about hurting you somehow that you have to end up having a conversation with him to chill out. he comes around though and chan helps him get some resources to help him understand things better.

hyunjin- he’s kinda surprised actually. you tend to mask a bit more or he just thinks some of the things you do are just cute little quirks so when you tell him it just takes him by surprise. immediately starts reading more books about it and learning what he can. he listens intently to your experiences.

han- he was more concerned at first than anything. he never wants to see you hurt or upset and the only real representation he’s seen portrayed in media hasn’t been to accurate to your experience. so he really approaches things cautiously until he gets a better understanding of you. before he knows it he’s a pro at helping you in all the ways you need him to and handles some of the more stressful situations with confidence.

felix- he just gets it. he seems interested in neurodivergence anyways so he’s always on tiktok relating to all the funny videos to the audhd experience so he’s v understanding and patient with you. never judges you when you do something a bit off the wall. wants to be a safe space where you can unmask more. whatever it is you need he gets it for you and if you ever need to be away from everyone he will provide you with that physical space.

seungmin- he already knew. he can’t explain how but as soon as you tell him he’s like, “well, yeah…” he’s just super observant and notices things that most people don’t. after this conversation you think back and realize that he’s been adapting to you all along. he never really like skinship or affection anyways but he would notice the way one of the other boys would hug you and just make a mental note to respect you. he saw the way you’d react to other stimulus and note how you cope. he starts carrying noise canceling ear buds just in case or an extra pair of sunglasses. it’s just little silent things that let you know he’s paying attention and he cares to help accommodate you.

i.n- he’s so curious. he wants to know all about you and what makes you tick and why you feel certain ways about things or react to things the way you do. he becomes more observant and tries not to do too much to make things overwhelming. he just wants to make everything feel as normal as possible since he’s been around you when your mind fights you and makes you feel super weird. he ask about how thing’s effect you personally as well as find resources to explain it more thoroughly from other autistics that may articulate some things better.

taeyong- you were surprised to find out that despite being so busy and having to worry about 20+ “kids” of his own, taeyong is really good about texting and checking in on you. not only with basics like, “did you eat today? drink your water? take your vitamins?” but he spends a lot of time away from you and he doesn’t want you to get anxious or worry about his feelings towards you. he never assumes that his actions are speaking louder than his words when a lot of the time you struggle to interpret the feeling behind actions anyways. he’s very forthcoming with how he feels about you and will often just tell you he’s been thinking about you and misses you even when he’s been gone for just hours. (which like why… you just left how do you miss me?? 😂😂)

johnny- johnny is really good under stress. he’s steady as a rock and it comes in handy in stressful situations which you can’t really handle all that much. you feel all the intense energy and it usually gets loud so it immediately triggers a meltdown. he’s just really good in any type of meltdown situation, whether it builds from the day and something small makes you snap or you’re relatively fine but something intense sets it off. he makes sure you have your headphones on and holds you tight to him. also talking you through the post meltdown guilt after bc it’s so real 😩

yuta- he LOVES hearing about all your special interests. he loves when you like sit and fidget with something and just ramble away about whatever it is you know literally everything about. he also loves to take you places where you can experience your special interest in a deeper way. i.e. special museums or experiences. even if he has no interest in the topic whatsoever, he just loves that you love it.

doyoung- he’s a very affectionate person but he’s very respectful and understanding which makes him perfect for you since you don’t like to be touched. he always asks for permission before touching you in any way first, even if it’s a small gesture like wiping your face when you’re eating (bc he just does that for people anyways). although at first when you rejected a hug from him, he was a little hurt and confused but did his best not to show it. once you explained it though, he was much more aware of his actions and if he needs a hug he’ll find one of the boys.

jaehyun- this man knows the importance of a safe space not just emotionally in your relationship together but also physically like in your shared home. he worked really hard to make sure the lights weren’t too much, none of the blankets and furniture felt weird, all the smells in the house were mild and pleasant, safe foods always stocked, he even went as far to soundproof the bedroom so outside noise isn’t an issue. he also has lots of fidgets around the house and on his person for when you need to stim.

jungwoo- similar to taeyong but in a different sense, hear me out. he knows how overwhelmed you get when you have to be around more people and especially people you’re not used to. it can kinda feel like you’re a sim without someone at the controller. you walk in the room of people and immediately feel like it’s too much and not do basic things that most people do easily. your default is just to stand at the edge of the room awkwardly, totally unsure of how to function. people may ask, “are you hungry? can i get you a drink? you can sit here if you want!” and you’ll deny everything despite being hungry, thirsty, or needing to sit. playing the “human part” can get so confusing when you’re overwhelmed and you may feel like your basic needs are burdensome to others even when it’s literally a party and every one is eating, drinking, and relaxing. so jungwoo is always at your side with his hand in yours to reassure you. he feels like a safer person you can say your needs too without feeling like a burden. he’s always so sweet and patient with you to make sure you get everything you want.

mark- mark pays close attention to the sounds in the room. it’s something he never thought much about before he met you but when you explained it to him, it actually made a lot of sense to him. he always keeps you close by in case of a particularly loud noise he can cover your ears in time or be there to reassure you. he also keeps an extra pair of noise canceling headphones with him or at least some little ear buds in his pocket. he becomes attuned to helping you with some of your other sensory issues but sound is one that triggers you more often so he knows what to look out for.

haechan- he found you intriguing when he first met you mostly bc you were kinda concerned with how he was being treated, especially by yuta. he thought it was really endearing when you’d get upset that he was being “slighted” but he explained that it was all a joke… you didn’t find it that funny. donghyuk loved that you cared so much for him so quickly and that you always wanted to show that you cared even if it meant you doing things you weren’t entirely comfortable with like hugging or other skinship. haechan was equally careful not to push skinship so much or just throw it on you without any warning. he was also careful with his jokes and not to tease you too much and upset you. overall he’s just very considerate.
