Might I ask your opinions on Steve/Nat/Bucky as a throuple?

Not my thing because amongst other reasons I'm honestly just not that interested in Bucky -- I see the attraction and I know a lot of people who are very into him, but it's not a character type that does anything for me. I also feel like I've just been really overexposed to Bucky in fandom, both on his own and in various ship combinations, and am generally kind of burnt out on the character and ships thereof over the course of the last 13 years in and around MCU fandom. I don't have anything against the character on his own, I just basically see too much of him around. (As well as being here on the Tumblr/AO3 side of the fandom, I'm also in the pin-collecting and cosplay sides, and if you're anywhere around the Captain America and Black Widow segments of the fandom, there is just...a lot of Bucky. Which is understandable but kind of frustrating for me if I'm not there for that particular character.)

In general I also find that it's impossible to find any kind of BuckyNat (or combos thereof) that's MCU-based rather than comics-based, which means disregarding basically everything about Natasha's backstory and characterization from the MCU in order to transfer her comics backstory over to the MCU, which is a huge no-go for me these days. (This was a little more understandable back in 2012 when there just wasn't that much to go on, but it is 2024 now; in general I find most of the fic that stems from 2011-2016 to be near-unreadable for me these days which is actually incredibly frustrating, since until I started writing in it the MCU was my longest-running reading fandom even when I wasn't actually in the fandom. There are fics -- of various ships -- that I have been reading for ten plus years that I can't read anymore.) I realize I got seriously into the fandom after the Black Widow movie came out, but even before that you couldn't really transfer her comics backstory over to the MCU, with or without the Bucky relationship. I've also found, reading the ship on and off over the course of the past thirteen years (like I said, I've been here for a while), that very few authors are actually interested in the SteveNat of that particular threesome and it tends to slant towards being a combination of BuckyNat and SteveBucky rather than a true OT3. And I'm a SteveNat truther, so... *hands*

The short version of all that is that it doesn't do it for me, but I get why people like it.

Well, Rickon is a secondary character so we can’t be sure about his book endgame.. Will it be same/similar with his show ending? Who knows? 

But I don’t think that we will see another death of Stark... You know fandom makes up theories about Starklings according to their direwolves. Robb lived fast and died young like (Grey) Wind, Jon died and became a Ghost, Arya is warrior woman looking for a home like Nymeria, Sansa became Lady/Queen of WF, Bran promises a Summer to Westeros etc. So what can Shaggydog mean for Rickon’s endgame?

What does shaggy dog story mean?

A long-winded tale or yarn featuring extensive narration of typically irrelevant details, usually resulting in a pointless or absurd punchline, which is often a pun or Spoonerism on a known catchphrase 

I mean? 

Grrm uses Rickon as a joke. You think he will mean sth important because he is there, he has potential... BUT he is actually irrelevant and leads us to nowhere.. 

So characters and readers will expect him to mean sth. We want him to come back from Skagos and become the KITN. He has every right btw. And he would be a good one maybe. 

But let’s remember that Northern Independence Plot is one of the most important political plots in the series since AGOT. Even Young Wolf Robb Stark didn’t end up as the final result of this plot. We knew Robb as a King via his mother’s POVs. But Robb himself never had his own POV. Robb was a secondary character. 

Even when Grrm talks about that Stark children are being the center of the story, he usually doesn’t mention Robb or Rickon. 

GRRM: Yeah, the children were always at the heart of this. The Stark children, in particular, were always very central. Bran is the first viewpoint character that we meet, and then we meet Jon and Sansa and Arya and the rest of them. It was always my intention to do that.

GRRM: The kids [Sansa, Arya, and Bran] are a huge part of the story, in many ways the central part of the story. And I always intended to separate them and set them on their own paths.

So, we know Jon, Sansa, Arya and Bran are the main characters/Starks. We know that Northern Independence is the most important plot in the series. And let’s face it Sansa is the one who is most connected with this plot/political plot. She ended up as QITN like we have been telling for years. 

(*Also my friend @kellyvela talked about how women Targaryen heirs’ claims were disregarded in Fire and Blood book and it made us think that how Sansa ending up as the QITN is meaningful because her claim was also disregarded when Robb changed the line of succession/ when Jon was crowned instead of her, or how she was used for her claim etc.) 

Then, what will happen to Rickon? 

My head canon: He’ll become a legend. A story that no one will ever fully know. A wild boy with a wild direwolf in Skagos. (Let’s remember that Skagos is very isolated form rest of the North. So he can disappear easily) 

Rickon was always the wildest one so he actually fits into wild Skagos with his Wildling nanny. I can see him running wild and become an important figure in Skagos. 

Also: In theory, the island is part of the north and subject to House Stark of Winterfell. However, the island has little contact with mainland Westeros and the Seven Kingdoms, and in practice they rule themselves.[1] 

So maybe Rickon will be the head of Skagos for the House Stark? Who knows? 

Maybe Davos will find him but he’ll refuse to come back? He was just a baby when he left, his homesickness might not be as heavy as the other Starklings. He might end up happy and well in a wild place like himself. :) 

So we might never hear from him again, he might really die like in the show, he might become a legend/myth like I believe...

But I hope he just ends up happy and well
