The World Abyss Incident is REAL!!! Fun fact, I had to restart my recording a few times because I kept dying during the Dusknoir fight from pressing the wrong keys. Ah, how I wish I could record all my rom hacks with a capture card...

Anyways, I apologize for how long this took. School and various health issues have me in a chokehold, but hopefully the end result is at least somewhat worth the wait!

Unfortunately, I don't have any written tutorials saved, but here's a video with some basic info that helped me when I was first starting out! It's from 3 years ago so this version of skytemple isn't up to date, but the information here can still be applied just fine to new versions.

After that, I mostly figured things out through messing around with random commands and seeing what they do, but the skytemple discord has lots of tutorials and information available too!

And my personal favorite, the PMD text line test, so you don't have to reload your save state every time you make a new bit of dialog.

Question:

Does anyone have any tutorials they use for making custom PMD cutscenes / ROM hacks? Especially any written ones? I'm looking to get started on some projects and have no idea where to begin...

thought i'd show off briar's bio a bit! my thoughts when picking out their moves were support moves + cracked physical normal moves, as well as foresight so they could punch dusknoir. the foresight idea didnt work all that well, as they kinda just... went for it and punched dusknoir during the boss fight without setting up first LOL.

Hardest part of wrapping these projects together has got to be picking out the music… paralleled only by deciding whether or not there even should be music at all.

I sort of like the tense silence, which is why most of my previous projects don’t use a lot of music, but I feel like experimenting a bit more.
