some undifferentiated thoughts about my Starfield playthrough as i have them. i am a game developer with a strong interest in procedural generation and i've enjoyed a bunch of other bethesda games so this might get pretty mean sorry
(this is a long one)
starfield dialogue is already exhausting me "oh you must've been living under a moon rock ;)" get it! because they're in space! this would've been too corny for the Jetsons
there's a kind of cheap dusting of space theme over everything. the food isn't salmon but alien salmon. it's not seaweed but alien seaweed. cooking alien stir-fry. come on
cannot get over how clumsily the theming is handled. books, board games, weapon names revolve heavily around space. these people have been living on alien planets for hundreds of years yet have this unending sense of novelty about it. the game takes itself completely seriously but feels like it's attempting to parody itself
people's EYEBALLS are CLIPPING THROUGH THEIR EYELIDS
a woman is speaking to me in french. her accent is about as believable as her haircut
these are some of the worst reflection maps i've ever seen
next to nothing is interactive. you can sit in chairs and sleep in beds and that is about it. can't even drink from people's toilets. disgraceful
game helpfully crashes 5 seconds after i decide i should get some sleep. very handy!
my character has not said a single thing since i started playing. not one peep. this is an unmitigated improvement over Fallout 4 i'm so glad honestly
the more i poke around the big city the more the NPC quips feel like something out of gen-1 pokemon. can't get enough of this coffee :) this city is where it's at :) spacesuits are comfy and easy to wear
very strange sense of altered reality from the quest dialogue too. has anyone at bethesda met a person before? i move on to some mission that has me scanning wildlife on a faraway planet hoping this will, somehow, feel less alien than human conversation
just as with No Man's Sky, every planet is uniformly dotted with equidistantly-placed points of interest that you slowly make your way to (no vehicles besides your jetpack) which always turn out to be some cave or building identical to those you've cleared before
unlike with No Man's Sky, the seamless exploration is faked and the biodiversity is nil. you do get an impressive amount of raw loading screens however
the prefab bases and power stations found everywhere on planets seem to have very sparse, very specific slots for spawning consumables, which results in encountering some giant industrial installation in the middle of nowhere with, i don't know, a loaf of whole-grain sandwich bread just casually sitting next to it all proper. there is no breathable atmosphere here. who is eating this
planetary traversal is a CHORE. i am saying this as someone who loved Death Stranding
heinous "hold to confirm" buttons sprinkled in various flow-breaking places throughout the interface
enemy AI is abominable. nobody is pathing their way to get my ass. "must've been the wind" taken to the next level. an infant playing peekaboo has more object permanence
hoisting yourself up on ledges when jumping is…nice
companions randomly nowhere to be found. persists through multiple fast-travels and loading screens until, just as randomly, they pop back up
storage space is now limited! unlike in Fallout 4 and virtually every other bethesda game, your containers now hold a finite item capacity. god forbid we let the player have fun
baffling inventory UI. i imagine there's a mod out there that completely overhauls it the way SkyUI did for Skyrim. this should not be needed! how are your UIs getting worse a decade later!
scanning the precious few species inhabiting some dusty planet; one of them is this arching red root i've already seen several times before. my job done in this biome, i travel (read: teleport with a loading screen) to the polar region to find some other species. the first one i catalogue is the exact same red root again but this time it's named "boreas root" todd howard is a genius
some alien horror comes at me full fangs out. i hop on a pebble. obscenely, i am safe
procedural terrain generation beyond dull, impossibly unimaginative. these people have not had one critical thought on what makes a procedural world interesting. beginning to feel validated in my belief that only i should be trusted with proc gen. along with perhaps tarn adams
jokes aside this is making me feel genuinely insane. there have been excellent procedural generation techniques that produce compelling explorable maps for decades now. bethesda absolutely has the budget and know-how to do miles better than this yet somehow they just…do not? the same way Pokemon has decided to just no longer bother with their mainline games despite being the highest-grossing media franchise in history? hello? what is for real going on
some of the most cynical breadcrumbing i've seen in years. approaching some random cave and this person in space gear, who in the vast immensity of the infinite cosmos just happens to be snapping pictures right here, tells me more-or-less verbatim "if you like this place, you should see this other place" [other random cave has been added to your map.]
i do not like how good this makes No Man's Sky's gameplay look. it depresses me how much i have to hand it to No Man's Sky for at least not fucking up this bad. please stop making me wish i was playing No Man's Sky instead this is grotesque
i think i've exhausted my interest and patience for this game at the moment. i'll get back to the main story at some point and try some other systems ie. crafting and base-building to see if there's any engagement to be found but so far, my god. my god

DO YOU HAVE ANY SKYRIM MODS YOU RECOMMEND.. i have 37 rn but i love finding new ones :]
here's some quality of life faves d^_^ i definitely have more but heres a couple to start
complete alchemy and cooking overhaul makes cooking so so so so fun. only thing that sucks about it is that because it completely overhauls alchemy, none of the vanilla potion recipes work. but the cooking is worth it to me its so funnnn
immersive sounds compendium literally makes the game so much nicer to play, with tons of options to reduce annoying shit (option to quiet/mute nirnroots, change some spell sounds, etc)
majestic mountains honestly this is my most important texture mod. relatively lightweight with HUGE visual improvements
cathedral weathers and seasons (with mcm integration) cathedral weathers is my personal favorite weather mod because its not obnoxious the way that other weather mods can be, like it doesnt make the game so foggy its unbearable. and the mcm addition is awesome because you can completely change how your game looks from the pause menu w/ sliders
dawn of skyrim makes cities soooo much prettier without the insane performance loss some of the other popular city mods have
opulent thieves guild overhauls the thieves guild grind so that as you make progress on conquering all the holds, the ragged flagon + cistern get prettier and more luxurious. really satisfying
lore based loading screens adds a shit load more loading screens. usually my game doesnt take too too long to load but its still a must have for me, makes it less boring when theres new stuff to read ^_^

The most beautiful place for Snow White are the swamps of Hjaalmarch. Obviously to us in game they don't look too impressive, but I'd imagine if each region was a lot bigger and got an overhaul they'd be quite beautiful. Going off the IDEA of what the marshes would be, Snow White would like them a lot! Glowflies at night, swamp pods, the bubbling blue water, so many trees to sit in and comfortable places to camp and do necromancy! As for dangerous places, congested areas like cities, especially cities with a lot of guards.
Snow White prefers to stay in Whiterun and Riften. She adores Whiterun's people and feels she has a duty to them as their Thane. She likes how crime ridden Riften in because she feels it's easy to find hiding spots and it's generally safer for her. If the guards are too busy dealing with the thieves guild they won't notice a witch. She avoids Dawnstar unless she has to be there. The Jarl's attitude on magic and how he'd definitely behead her if she was discovered scares her.
Snow White used to worship Molag Bal up to the day of her dedication to him, to which she was horrifically changed forever. She doesn't worship him now, but technically she worships almost all Aedra and Daedra. She recognizes the power they hold and respects them, often subservient to what they ask her unless they're manipulating her for nefarious purposes (like Molag Bal has). However, she prays to Kynareth, the one who gifted her the thu'um and seeks her guidance when she's lost.
Snow White doesn't care either way, all magic has risks. What she cares about are the steps you've taken to make sure it can be prevented next time.
She's a witch XD so yes, she can survive.
When she became the High Queen of skyrim she actively sought out to deal with the bandit problem, but as an adventurer she LOVES it! Free dead bodies everywhere for her experiments! And she can get PAID to deal with them! :DDD
Snow White doesn't exactly remember where her coven was located, so to her Skyrim has always and will always be her home.
Juniper berry jam.
Snow White will believe in anything until someone proves otherwise. She's childishly naive.
In terms of canon factions she's not a part of anything. But there is a fanon guild I made called 'Necromancer's Lair' based off a Nexus mod of the same name. It's for anyone affiliated with her coven, The Seventh Order. So in short, The Seventh Order and Necromancer's Lair.
Natural talent, it's what she was bred for. But when it comes to her experiments she has to work hard to create the spells she wants. Her favorite school of magic is Conjuration and Alteration.
No prejudices per say, just a fear of magic haters. Nords make her uncomfortable because of this.
Snow White's the Dragonborn, so she believes the legends. She has no views on the past Dragonborns. The voice is hers now.
Snow White had multiple mentors from her coven over the years for different things. Hunting, magic, reading and writing, even dance lessons.
This would take too long to fully explain so I'll give a short answer. She dislikes and fears no Daedra, and doesn't mind collecting artifacts. It's not her choice to, however, viewing herself ill fitting to be a champion because she's under Kyne and Akatosh now. Snow White views that consulting with the Daedra is fine as long as you FULLY UNDERSTAND the calculated risk, you can't screw around with them or THEY WILL TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOU. This isn't because of her experience with Molag Bal, this is something her coven taught and drilled into everybody.
Snow White gets manipulated into becoming a Stormcloak, but looking back she would've supported The Empire. A civil war means nothing in the face of a Second Great War.
Snow White's memories of her family as her coven shift over the course of her story. In the end, her chosen friends are her true family.
Snow White used to kill all the time because it was just easier than reasoning with someone. But overtime she learned to show more mercy, but only for their own sake.
When Snow White expands Lakeview Manor into like a whole estate and has to pay people she gets better with money, but adventuring she goes through money like it's water. She'll raid three dungeons and be broke the next day.
Yes.
SKYRIM OC ASKS
I wanted to make a more in-depth and lore-building set of questions for people's Skyrim-specific OCs! This can be used as an ask game, or if you just want to answer them all without waiting for people to ask, have at it!
(Thanks to my good fandom buddies for all the suggestions!)
Which areas of Skyrim do they find most beautiful and most dangerous?
Which cities do they prefer to stay in and why? Which cities to they avoid at all costs?
What are their religious affiliations, and how does their worship (or lack thereof) affect their day-to-day life?
Do they believe the College of Winterhold caused the Great Collapse? If no, what is their theory?
Would they be able to live off the land if they were lost in the wilds of Skyrim? How skilled are they at foraging and hunting?
What is their opinion on Skyrim's "bandit problem"?
Do they regret journeying to Skyrim? Or, if they were born in Skyrim, do they wish they could leave?
What is their favorite kind of food that can only be found in Skyrim?
Do they believe in snow/sky whales?
Are they a part of any factions, guilds, or organizations?
If they are a magic user, what is their favorite school of magic? Do they have a natural talent for magic, or does it require diligence and study?
What are their prejudices? What groups have they come to think of as 'other'? Mages? Nords? Elves? Lollygaggers?
Do they believe the old nordic tales about the Dragonborn? If they are Dragonborn how has their experience differed?
Who is their mentor? Who do they go to most for lessons?
How do they feel about consorting with daedra? Do they collect their artifacts? Are there some they would never interact with vs. some they would consider calling upon?
What are their opinions on the civil war? Do they support a side or leave them to their own devices?
Do they have family? Who doe they consider to be family?
What is their stance on taking a life? Do they kill without a second thought, in the name of a god or daedra, or do they adhere to pacifism?
How are they with money? Do they hoard, or do they spend until their pockets are empty and they have to find work again? Have they saved for any houses?
Can they read?

Skyrim Setup for 2022.
A few changes for this year’s mix of mods in my load order.
I removed a couple of big quest mods like Beyond Reach and Angrim’s apprentice after play testing them enough to decide they didn’t fit well in my setup anymore.
I added several customizations of existing locales like a brand new Rorikstead, Capital Windhelm Expansion, several Great Cities of Skyrim and JK Overhauls (that I had to merge to save room), and new locations from Arena as well as Hold Borders. All this to increase diversity and keep the game interesting. it took some work to sometimes edit them and move things around to make them work well together but it was worth it.
I also reduced the footprint of SexLab mods and removed mods like SexLab Solutions or SexLab Release to balance the amount of scenes during gameplay.
The biggest changes in the past year are not well reflected in the load order itself. They are about creating a grittier, more cinematic feel to the game with a combination of ENB and ReShade, and a small, experimental mod adding seasonal weathers.
Keep reading for the full load order.

Player Homes, Location Overhauls and Quest Mods for Skyrim - my favorites
There is a never ending list of mods that fall into this categories and I definitely have installed more than the ones I’m gonna put up on here. Everyone will have their preferences and maybe I need more exploration to certain mods to fall in love with.
Quests:
1. Falskaar
- A whole new, beautiful land with loads of new locations, fully voiced characters, an attractive main quest, a bunch of side quests and finally a little player home. I simply love Falskaar, consider it (my) canon and have fully played the whole map 3 times already. I highly recommend the more wild life add-on to improve the atmosphere.
2. Helgen Reborn - Is an extensive multi quest mod that lets you be part of a small group of veterans and diverse recruits to rebuild Helgen. It comes with a player home (including a HUGE and very well thought inventory/display/storage/dumpster/show off basement where you can store everything you don’t want to sell.) It’s fully and awesomely voiced and the whole thing is very well thought. Only thing you have to remember is to only activate the mod AFTER escaping from Helgen. (or with no problem after running an alternate start mod)
(I know there are a bunch of other mods like the forgotten city , rigmor of Cyrodiil , Fight against the Thalmor 1, 2, 3, 4 , and many more - but so far I just finished the two I mentioned above and only experienced bits of the others I mentioned.)
Player Homes:
1. Elysium Estate - Super beautiful. Super convenient close to Whiterun (halfway down to the watchtower where you meet your first dragon). Super spacey and thoughtfully designed. An awesome basement to display all the stuff you want to collect, a great crafting station outdoors, space for a lot of followers. Did I mention that it’s extremely beautiful? Only thing that bugs me is that its basically a child free zone and I have found nowhere an add-on to change that.
2. Heljarchen Farm - Once you have enough gold to rebuild the farm close to Heljarchen Hall and Loreius Farm, it’s an absolute win to actually do the full build. You earn gold from it, one of the guards is actually a vendor with 20.000 Gold at her expense. You get a horse and a bunch of people who work at the farm and there are a bunch of mods that actually merge the Farm and your Hearthfire Home Heljarchen Hall to one hold.
3. The Field Lab - A Telvanni themed floating player home that you can summon everywhere outdoors via a spell you get via a little quest. Its clearly dunmer- and mage-centric I love the fact that you have your home with you basically wherever you need it.
4. Tel Nalta - Also a Telvanni themed player home. Located at Lake Ilinalta and the really fascinating thing is that you have to build it yourself from scratch. I must admit I love the concept but so far I haven’t had an OC that was fitting enough to actually play it.
5. Breezehome fully upgradable - my goto mod for making Breezehome a truly nice and useful place to settle.
Locations and Cities:
1. The Great Cities - Minor cities and towns - Overhauls for a lot of places to either grab as a full pack or just for the places you want to change.
2. Immersive College of Winterhold - Makes the College a whole new place fit for a dovakhiin arch mage. New areas, a complete overhaul of the arch mages quarters including an outer dimensional storage/display room. Runs a bit wonky with me and I once in a while face a bug where one or more of the professors run around in their underwear. But the sheer beauty of the whole thing make me put up with occasional inconveniences and game crashes (Fast travel from the college to anywhere seem to be a problem that I need to work on instead of around).
3. The Drunken Bosmeric Huntsman - My favorite Place in all Skyrim, hands down. Its so beautiful and well thought. Just a visual overhaul but so worth it.
4. The Scottish Bannered Mare - Another visual overhaul that I like very much. The most unique tavern in Skyrim, beutifully set up.
5. Immersive Grey Quarter - A great overhaul of the dark elves quarter in Windhelm.
6. Opulent Thieves Guild - A visual overhaul to the thieves guild quarters, the ragged flaggon and the cistern along with the reinstallation of the TG as a power in Riften.
Honorary mention:
Hearthfire Multiple Adoptions (up to six kids instead of 2) and
Bigger Children Bedrooms for
Windhelm Solitude Whiterun (unfortunately I can’t make it work with the Breezehome fully upgradable) Riften Markarth

Hi! I am rather new to modding Oblivion and I was wondering if there is any mods you would recommend for it? Or maybe just your mod list, if you are comfortable with sharing that? Your Oblivion characters always look so beautiful, especially Iriana. Anyway, I hope you having a wonderful day! :)
It’s ironic you ask Nonnie, considering I’m wrestling with Oblivion myself and failing atm XD
Still, I’m happy to drop some recommendations for mods I use and can usually get to cooperate with me ^-^
First off, you’ll want the Official Oblivion Patch, the Unofficial Oblivion Patch, the Unofficial Shivering Isles Patch, and the Unofficial Oblivion DLC Patches (if you have the GOTY edition). They fix a bunch of issues in the game, and some mods require them to be installed, so they’re a solid place to start.
The rest are under the cut because boy this got long o.o
Character Creation:
I cannot recommend Nuska’s Oblivion Character Overhaul enough. It’s an absolute must have for me as it deals with Oblivion’s potato faces beautifully. And, thanks to the hard work of other modders, it is possible to customise OCO further. I’ll list those in just a second. You’ll also need the Oblivion Script Extender and Blockhead to get it to work.
I also use the HGEC Female Body for my OCs - if you use that mod or any other body mods, there are some additional files provided by Nuska that make OCO compatible with them. They’re located in the optional files for OCO, and the description for those will tell you what order you need to install them in.
Now, my other OCO Mods that I recommend:
Orsimer Overhaul for OCOv2 - merges OCO and Orsimer Overhaul for a look I personally love for orc characters. It can be a little hit and miss with getting it to work on my end, so you’ll need to decide if you want to have a go at wrestling with it, but I personally think it’s worth a try
OCOv2 Martin and Adoring Fan Fix - I’m not a huge fan of OCO’s take on Martin, so I prefer this one even though it makes him look a bit too young imo
Unique Face Features for OCOv2 - Adds some warpaints, scars, freckles, and other kinds of face markings to the cc. iirc they’re tweaked with the age slider
Warpaint for OCOv2 - adds some more Skyrim warpaints
Seamless for OCOv2 - removes the very visible neckseam on characters. Whether or not I can get this one to work is usually hit and miss for me ^^”
New Brows for OCOv2 - exactly what it says on the tin ;)
New Eyes for OCOv2 - new eye texture replacements, along with some optional files to customise them a little
Better Necks for OCOv2 - adds some detailing to the neck and throat of the character model. Not a requirement ofc, I’m just a sucker for detail
OCOv2 Male Beard - adds some actual beards to the cc
Hairstyle mods can vary in quality, and some only come available as wigs. I only use a couple myself.
Sidenote, wigs tend to make your characters look like they have no ears so you’ll need a mod that adds equip-able ears - I’ll have one recommended further down.
ANiceOakTree’s Hairstyles for Oblivion is a mod that adds hairs as wigs. There’s a few styles in different colours, and it’s the one I use for Iriana. You create your character with whatever hair, it doesn’t matter, and then travel to either Vilverin, which is the Ayleid Ruin literally opposite the Sewer Exit after you finish the tutorial, or in the Cheydinhal Chapel near the doors.I usually tend to go to Vilverin, as it’s closer for me and the chest is literally down the stairs from the entrance, plus it counts as stealing from the chapel so I’d recommend the ruin if you’d rather not get in trouble for wanting nice hair.
Zinni_s Braided Redguard Expanded is good if you plan to play as a Redguard and would like a braided style. It’s added to the cc, so you don’t need to go looking for it ^^
Chakaru Wigs 2.0 is a bit trickier. You need to access the Testing Hall in order to find them, and I can’t remember exactly which room they’re in. They’re located in a chest directly opposite the door, however, so it narrows the search a little. If I get to the point where Oblivion is cooperating with me, I’ll add the location here.In order to access the Testing Hall, open the console and type ‘coc testing hall’ (if that doesn’t work try removing the space between testing and hall, I forget which is the correct way), and then in the centre of the main room, find the door labelled Hawkhaven, go through it, and fast travel to return to Cyrodiil.
I’ve not used the Cazy Hair Pack in some time now, but it’s still worth a mention. It adds some new hairs to the cc, so no looking around ruins and testing halls to find them ^^
Armour and Clothing
Ordinarily I would never download Apachii Goddess Store, but it is where I get Iriana’s ears. On the ground floor, there’s a container full of equip-able ears you can take free of charge, and iirc they match to your character’s skintone.
Belphe’s Travelling Gear (the female version) is another mod I wouldn’t usually use, but it looks surprisingly good on Iriana sooooo. There’s a few mods on this page you can try out if you’re interested, but I have no idea how to install the ones without esp files, so I can’t help you if you want any of those.
This is my favourite remodel of the Archmage Robes (I could do without the titty physics, but it’s very unnoticeable most of the time so it’s survivable). Because of the unfortunate physics aspect, it does require Coronerras Maxiumum Compatibility Skeleton, but otherwise it’s a brilliant remodel. However, the Archmage Robes present a problem with equip-able ears - as they take up an amulet slot and these robes don’t let amulets show, you will have missing ears with these robes. There’s another mod I use to fix this, which I’ll get to late.
Alternatively, there is a male replacer for the Archmage Robes that I like but (obviously) have never used if you’re making male characters
The Triss Armour Retexture is another great mod, and I personally like to use the Dark Brotherhood variant for my DBH characters as opposed to actual Shrouded Armour. They can be a pain to obtain as you need to fight your way through some bandits in Fort Cedrian, then locate the bag in the Mausoleum, but they are worth the trouble.
Assorted Protective Female Armours is another must imo as it fixes the ridiculous boobplates and some textures for some of the game’s heavy armours.
If you used the HGEC Body for female characters, then you’ll want to grab the Vanilla Amulets Fix for HGEC as it’ll fix how amulets fit on that body.
Spike4072s Female Sheogorath Regalia is a great mod if you’d rather keep the iconic Sheogorath look on a female character rather than have it swapped out for a dress.
Shrouded Armour Cowl is another great mod for DBH characters; I use it with the Dark Brotherhood Triss Armour, seeing as the hood doesn’t really mix with it.
Sinblood_SonjaArmourTweaked is another good female armour mod; it looks good, and is reasonably functionable.
Other Mods
Oblivion Reloaded is a fantastic mod; primarily it’s a graphics extender mod, and it really does make the world of Oblivion look amazing.
Alternative Start is a great mod, and it functions very much like its Skyrim counterpart. If you want to do the Main Quest but start elsewhere, after a certain number of days pass you’ll receive a message to meet someone in a set period of time at the Temple of the One. That will put you in the tutorial and set up the Main Quest. Word of warning, miss that meeting and I don’t think it’s possible to do the Main Quest at all so just be careful.
Oblivion XP is an absolute must if you struggle with Oblivion’s levelling system like I do. XP is awarded for defeating foes, discovering locations, completing quests, stealing things, etc. It’s installed with Oblivion Mod Manager, so make sure you grab that.
Kvatch Rebuilt is a pretty damn good mod which offers a questline to rebuild the city of Kvatch and give it a ruler. That ruler can even be the player, depending on some choices you make. The voice acting isn’t stellar, but it’s worth it to see Kvatch restored. It requires the Engine Bugs Fixes so make sure to grab that. Also, make sure you pick up Compatibility Patches for OCO to avoid too many weird faces around Kvatch and other places.
Reneers Guard Overhaul is also a pretty useful mod if the ever-charming behaviour of the Oblivion Guards gets a bit wearing. They’ll no longer chase you to the ends of Tamriel, and a crime committed in Cheydinhal won’t get you attacked in Leyawiin (kinda like how Skyrim manages crime).
No Anachronistic Main Quest Comments is good for immersion; you won’t have people saying how a city might not go the way of Kvatch after the Oblivion Crisis is over.
Now, the amulet issue with the Archmage Robes. I fixed that with the Summonable Private Quarters, which provides a station where you can mess with slots for armour/clothing sets. There’s lots of use for this mod besides just making your amulets and ears visible, but this is what I primarily use it for.To make it work you need the Core files of Cobl, so manually download that and move the core folder into Oblivion’s Data folder.
I also use a couple of animation mods, namely Staff Animation which changes the PC’s idles and the way they move when holding a staff so it looks less awkward.
There’s also the Heroic Female Idle Replacer which is less stiff than the vanilla female idle. Otherwise I recommend searching through the Oblivion Nexus’ animation tag and finding any mods that suit you and your characters best.
Project Oblivion Gate Destruction Spell is useful if you get tired of diving into gates over and over again when you just want to get on with the game. Just cast the spell and poof, no more gate and you still get the Sigil Stone. It’s good for when you’ve already played the game over a few times.
The Elder Scrolls Online Imports is a must have if you love ESO like I do. It adds some bits of lore, creatures, and locations from ESO.
Better Cities makes the cities of Cyrodiil more varied and interesting, though it might be a bit troublesome at times. I’ve had the occasional problem with this mod, purely based on load order so just keep that in mind. Otherwise it’s a gorgeous mod with a lot of effort and creativity put into it.
Vanilla Staff Replacer isn’t necessary if you’re not playing a mage, but I really enjoy it personally ^^
I’m going to add Black Horse Colour Overhaul because it honestly bugs me that the black horses in Oblivion aren’t black
Companion Vilja is a mod I haven’t actually used yet, but I’ve got installed for this playthrough because I’ve been meaning to play it forever. Apparently Terry Pratchett himself contributed to this mod, so that should speak for its quality.
I hope this was helpful to you Nonnie, and good luck with modding Oblivion ^^

Hey, thanks friend! My install's actually pretty stable (of course, now that I say that...); I just picked some of the more popular mods on the Nexus at random for the sake of the joke. I appreciate you fighting the good mod fight, though!

Skyrim SE mod list
I was asked if I could put together a list of the mods I’m currently using for Skyrim Special Edition. It turned out to be pretty long, so I thought I would post it up here (sorry the list is pretty out of order). List is under the link- Mods marked with a + I currently have installed, mods marked with a - are sitting inactive in my mod organizer. I included some of the armor/clothing mods I use but due to there being so many I left out like maybe over 100 something. (I did not mark them, but I do have a decent amount of mods merged.)

Skyrim Mod Redesigns Road In Bethesda RPG
Tumblr media
Skyrim mods can occasionally be so pleasantly ordinary that you can't help but marvel at the exquisite craftsmanship that went into creating them. A mod that demonstrates remarkable attention to the craft of upgrading one of the greatest open-world games of all time is the ideal illustration of this phenomena. Fans obviously concur because it has already established itself as one of the most well-liked mods for the Bethesda RPG since its debut. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Northern Roads mod, by creator JPSteel2, does exactly what it says on the tin. It’s a glorious overhaul to the entire infrastructure of Skyrim, removing every single one of the vanilla road chunks in the game and replacing them with more diverse designs. Small villages and the wilderness will sport dusty dirt tracks, major cities get stone pathways, colder mountainous areas feature mucky, snowy trails, and so on. There’s also plenty of new features such as unique bridge designs, wooden totems, runestones and more. Things get even more exciting in the various Holds, with an emphasis placed on the cultural divide between the eastern towns, which draw from Scandinavian and Viking inspiration, and the western ones, which take from Celtic and Slavic cultures. Creator JPSteel2 says that the mod began its life as a “simple bridge replacer” but they just… kept on going until it was “something much, much bigger.” The final project has such a dramatic effect, in fact, that a separate collection of patches has been compiled to ensure most of the popular Skyrim mods will run alongside it, due to the way it alters a lot of the landscape records. You can check out the mod in action for yourself below: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lIwXkvZpQAs Sometimes it’s the seemingly simplest mods that can be the most intricately designed and beautiful. If you think you’re ready for this stunning infrastructure in your own version of Skyrim, you can download Northern Roads at Nexus Mods. Also highly recommended is the aforementioned Northern Roads patch collection to resolve any potential compatibility issues, if you’re someone who’s already done a fair amount of modding. Honestly, given the hell that is the Skyrim economy, we’re wondering who’s funding this complete infrastructural rebuild. Nevertheless, it’s certainly spectacular. If you’re looking for more additions, why not add an entire Skyrim mage city with over 100 NPCs to your world? Or perhaps some new Skyrim Daedric DLC in the Shivering Isles sounds more up your alley? If you fancy changing things up even more, we’ve got some of the best games like Skyrim, because there’s plenty out there beyond the world of The Elder Scrolls. Read the full article

A Stormcloak Victory will NOT stop the Thalmor, even in Skyrim
A great part (if not most) of the Stormcloak supporters picked the Stormcloaks mainly because they do not wanna see their friends and family kidnapped by Thalmor Justiciars, just for their faith, without doing something about it. It is a noble cause, but a Stormcloak victory would not stop the Thalmor from kidnapping Talos worshippers.
Before anything the Thalmor are not helped by the Empire, and if you don’t believe me you could explain why Ondolemar asks help from a random adventurer he does not even know (instead of asking the Jarl, but even he says the Jarl is hesitant to arrest Ogmund without evidence he would still ask the jarl or the guards if he was helped by the imperials) and why the Thalmor Justiciars mentioned in “Flight from the Thalmor” (http://en.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Flight_from_the_Thalmor) had to kidnap the skald on the early hours of the morning, without any help from imperial soldiers or guards (otherwise Hadrik would have been ARRESTED, not kidnapped like that), after he sang about Talos for an entire week (more than enough time for imperial authorities to know what he was doing, and if the guards were involved at it he would have been arrested, not kidnapped, at least in the third day of his signing).
In fact, Ondolemar not only claims, during “Diplomatic Immunity”, that the Justiciars are (obviously) charged with enforcing the ban of Talos worship, wich would not even make sense if the Empire was enforcing such ban by itself, but that he, Ondolemar (the head of the Justiciars in Skyrim) was sent to Markarth on a special mission to persecute Talos worshippers in that specific city, in the city where the Incident with the same name occured, wich brings me to another point: Ulfric’s agitating is what attracted the Thalmor to Skyrim in the first place. Altough the Concordact gives the Thalmor the authority to enforce such ban by themselves, letting the Thalmor do it was not among the terms of the concordact (as we can see on “The Great War” book), so the only option is that they came way after the Empire retook full control of Skyrim). This is revealed by Alvor’s dialogue ("It's from that treaty that ended the Great War, remember, when the Emperor was forced by the Thalmor to outlaw Talos worship. We didn't pay much attention to it when I was a boy - everyone still had their little shrine to Talos. But then Ulfric and his ‘Sons of Skyrim’ started agitating about it, and sure enough the Emperor had to crack down. Dragging people off in the middle of the night... one of the main causes of this war, if you ask me."), where he basically says that worshipping Talos was just fine shortly before Ulfric’s rebellion (“but he says that people are right in being angry for the Thalmor being allowed to arrest people” that is right, he says people are angry now, but that it was okay to worship Talos and that they didn’t pay attention back then. He reveals that in the past it was safer than now). Combine that with what is revealed by Cedran and Igmund about the Markarth Incident *show Cedran and Igmund’s dialogues* and you see that the Thalmor only started to become active after Ulfric’s actions showed the Thalmor that the Empire was not taking their demands seriously (if the Thalmor planned to do the dirty job by themselves since the beginning they would have arrested Ulfric by themselves, not demand the Empire to do it).
Now we get to how even if the Stormcloaks won the Thalmor would not be stopped, and I am not even talking about a war against the Thalmor (tough the Stormcloaks would likely be massacred) because as I showed even in imperial holds they act in the shadows. I mean: the Thalmor are known for sending excellent assassins and spies to basically any part of Tamriel, and to see that we just have to see the Thalmor assassin sent to Windhelm if Malborn survives (this case only puts emphasis to this, because the way the Stormcloaks do not care about a bosmer outsider to the point of Malborn having to stay in the Gray Quarter, that is barely looked by the guards, would make it rather easy for a Thalmor spy to sneak into Stormcloak territory without being constantly watched by the local authorities). Lets also not forget Ancarion, who managed to sneak into Solstheim (that is part of Morrowind), the prisoner you find at the Thalmor Embassy during “Diplomatic Immunity” (who reveals he was kidnapped in RIFTEN, wich is deep in Stormcloak territory) and the two khajiit assassins sent deep into Stormcloak territory (Riften and Windhelm, respectively to assassinate the Dragonborn and to assassinate Malborn and Brelas if both survive).
Sure they would no longer have the Embassy, but in “Thalmor Dossier: Ulfric Stormcloak” it is revealed that an imperial victory would also harm their overhaul position in the province (and it makes sense since both imperial and Thalmor authorities worry about a future conflict between the empire and the Dominion, and if the imperials win the Justiciars will be trapped on a province filled with Thalmor hating nord legionnaires), and as I showed this would not be a big deal for their spies and assassins.

favorite skyrim mods pt. 2
hi everybody, it’s day 16. i decided to do something a little more simple and just make another post about my fave skyrim mods. so, this next list is here, because these are some mods that just make the game much more enjoyable to me.
the mods i’m going to talk about today are diverse dragons, better guards and soldiers. guard dialogue overhaul, and dlc integration.
diverse dragons:
this mod makes fighting dragons so much better. there’s at least 12 new kinds of dragons you can run into in this mod. ( all the mod dragon types are on the configuration page, but of course i haven’t opened it and read it).
some dragons i’ve run into with this mod are: an earth, swamp, plague, ash, necromatic (looks durnehviir), luster, silverfang, aetherial, crystalline.
and they all look awesome.
better guards and soldiers:
this mod diversifies the guards you see around skyrim. so, now you’ll actually female imperial soldiers and the other races in the imperial army. it also makes it so there are more women guards in the cities. you can find redguard, orc, argonian, khajiit, and mer guards in all the cities that are allied with the empire. if a city is considered stormcloak, there won’t be any mer guards. and you’ll occasionally find a redguard, khajiit, or argonian, but it’s weird.
also, this mod somewhat modifies guard armor. all the holds still have their identical, but differently colored armor, but it will make it so each holds’ guards now wear different leg and arm armor from each other. for example, in markarth, the guards will be equipped with the usual green guard armor, but they’ll be wearing dwarven gloves and greaves. in whiterun, the guards where steel gloves and greaves. it just makes the guards look slightly unique without having to use an armor overhaul on them.
guard dialogue overhaul:
name is self-explanatory. what i like about this mod is now i get to hear some dialogue, i’ve never heard before because it will now be more generated. also, guards will become more respectful of you, depending on your choices, and how far along you are in the quests.
which is nice, because if muz-lari has defeated alduin and saved the world, the guards should not be calling her lizard. and now they don’t. they’ll actually refer to her as dragonborn more often than not.
or, if lashur urot is now harbinger, the guards in friendly cities should not call her pig. it still happens in windhelm though, since i haven’t completed the blood on the ice quest in lashur’s game.
dlc intergration:
again, name is self-explanatory. but here are some examples of how it works:
in the kitchens of jarl castles in major cities, (like whiterun, windhelm,) there are ovens that you can use to bake stuff
you can find baked goods (like garlic bread, braided braid, costas) out in the world more often
you can buy locks, nails, iron fittings, and hinges from blacksmiths
you can grow yellow mountain flowers
stuff usually found on solstheim can be bought from certain dark elf vendors. (brand-shei, revyn sadri)
you can find npcs using crossbows
basically, this mod just incorporates the simple dlc content in a way that just makes sense. now that i’ve played with it, it seems like this is something bethesda should have done themselves. either way, this is great simple mod that’s made my game better.
