I always tell people to keep making new friends regularly for this reason. This is the easiest way to get hearts! I get at least three a week just from sending and receiving daily gifts.

Even if you already have lots of active friends, make at least a few new friends a month. Friends will come and go in Sky. Real life gets in the way, or they just get tired of it. You need a small but steady stream of replacements.

I never turn down an offer of friendship from a new player. Sometimes if they’re just hanging around me and seem amicable, I’ll offer first, since many new players run out of candles. I open trade immediately too, and every new moth I meet gets a heart gratis.

Many of them will disappear quickly, but you’ll have a few who stick around for the long haul, maybe buddies from Discord you chat with regularly and gift daily light to even if you don’t see each other in the game itself all that often.

do y’all ever get like SUPER fixated on stuff???

well when i saved up and got my first musical instrument (a harp) in sky cotl i was DETERMINED to practice the Mipha theme from Zelda botw (because she is my absolute fav).

i did the entire quest for harmony hall and spent DAYS perfecting the melody and trying to match the tune to the theme as good as I was able to.

i finally got it how i wanted to so i could fit it in one of the music memories things and went to Valley to play it in the castle area thing with the manta spirit and the microwaves, and spent hours to get it just right.

so today i log on and as im trying to get my sister to play with me (by bribing her) one of my first ever sky kid friends who i haven’t talked to in a while cause of time zones comes up to me and tells me about how they saw my song and they LOVED IT!

when i tell you that it literally made my day im not exaggerating

it was also so nice to connect with them after not playing together for while, even if it was only for a few minutes.

lesson learned: don’t be afraid to tell people you like their art, writing, music, anything, because it makes people feel good about something that they spent a lot of time on, or maybe they didn’t like how it turned out. it makes people feel good about their work when you like it, so don’t be afraid to tell them!!

Based on a conversation in Sky I’ve had with two friends of mine, we were talking about the surprise Qixi festival in the hidden forest(the last four panels are a hc of my sky character tho)

What I’m talking about, one of the friends told me it was based on a star crossed lovers festival that meet once a year(i don’t remember much from what she said but only that) So when she was telling me about it and that the two would hug at midnight, I wanted them to get together already cause I was like “awww let them be happy and be together already >:(” So I ‘pushed’ them to try and bring them together faster(this didn’t work, obviously). Then I came back on sky around midnight to see them hug and met with the two friends there but the spirits hugged when I came so we missed it, barely

Sky maybe broken, but today it was really fun to play 💖

Bug report under android:

- Some realms are locked

- Aviary locked

- Wind path locked

- Red Dots in Constellations + zoom-out-bug

- All cutscenes will play when enter a season realm

- Nest unaccessible

Explanation and Fix:

It seems that some progress was reseted or is currently not accessable from the sky servers, so some areas are not unlucked for us yet. Think back to your moth days and weeeeee again!

You need to fly though the realms and use the temples to enter the next realm. This will trigger all cutscenes at once. Wind path is locked too, but you can enter it through Forest at the beginning.

If you didn't set Aviary as your home you will need a friend currently to enter.

To enter your nest you theoretically need to trigger the end-animation of season of IKEA, but the entrance is locked! LOL

More I haven't figured out yet. Maybe tomorrow it is fixed again, BUT playing was really fun today. Seeing the animation in one long stream was really nostalgic and I had a cool adventure with ma friends 💖

I literally friend every new moth I see! I friended three last night, since I’m seeing an unusual influx of new players. Sky CotL must’ve won another award or been featured in an article, because that’s when it seems to happen. Gets new players interested in trying it.

Most will stop playing, deciding the game isn’t for them. Maybe it’s not exciting enough compared to what they’re used to in modern gaming. Maybe it’s just not their vibe.

Others will be on a different schedule. I have several friends I never see in game, but we trade light daily and sometimes trade hearts. Long distance pen pals.

Some I see once a month or less. I chat “hi” real quick as we pass by. They’re with friends, on a mission to collect wax, and we go our own ways.

But you’ll get some who you’ll see at least weekly. You might not even speak the same language, but you’ll play well together and use emotes to communicate. Chatting isn’t always what others want. Many aren’t comfortable talking to strangers, but are fine with silently hanging out, or coming along on a wax run to play their instrument and act as your battery while you fly. Mutually beneficial parallel play.

And of course you’ll see many people almost daily. Orange is always online when I am if I have a daily that requires interacting with a friend. We’ll chat a bit. Sage and I get into all sorts of shenanigans, going OOB, dressing up, trying weird stuff with props.

To keep a decent roster of friends, you just have to keep making them, and accept you’ll never see most of them regularly.

I want make some new friends, not just acquaintances, but it’s so hard because i can never keep a conversation going, but i reaaaally wanna hang out with someone,,,,
