New chapter of The Wickerman is up!!! Summary: Lucy meets Roy Cornickelson and Dethklok has an impromptu press conference about their newest member. They band goes back to Mordhaus to celebrate. The tension between Lucy and Skwisgaar finally boils over, and the two of them have a little fun and talk a bit about her being in the band. Of course, an announcement of this magnitude couldn't be made without the Tribunal meeting about it.

Skwisgaar stares out at the sky. The Keep is too quiet, he hates it. He wants to play his guitar, record music, help Nathan – but there doesn’t seem to be room for him in Nathan’s life right now. Whatever it is his brother has to do, it’s on his own. So instead he has to wait. He sits on one of the benches out on the cliff edge, the smell of the salt refreshing, though he knows it’s going to mess with his hair.

“Skwisgaar?” Olena walks towards him, playing with the ends of one of her pigtails. He peers over his shoulder to her, gesturing with his head that she can come closer. Not that she’d ever need permission to come near him – but he knows now that she likes confirmation. “Hope I’m not intruding.”

“Nothing to intrudes.” He remarks blandly, elbows on his knees as he contemplates his usefulness. Or uselessness. He can’t decide yet. Of course his guitar playing is going to help, but what now? Knubbler is as vague as ever. Perhaps as clueless as the rest of them, really. Olena stays behind him, watching the sea over his head, and they both feel that same sense of foreboding. Even when it gets dark, the Doomstar keeps them up. The light is too much sometimes. The ocean is a blood red because of it.

“You nervous?” she asks, and Skwisgaar looks out into the skyline instead of turning to her. His lips are a thin line, and he contemplates the truth or the lie.

“Why shoulds I be?” he chooses to lie, “We always win, no? We does this, beats the bad guy, homes by tomorrow.” His tone betrays him only slightly. It’s what he wants, and the thought that maybe they won’t get to go home (won’t succeed) makes his throat close up a little. She can see his hands clasped and thumb rubbing hard into his skin. Skwisgaar doesn’t do failure.

“Oh, my hoponassu,” it’s barely a murmur, but he hears it, and his cheeks are hot. She wraps her arms around his shoulders, head against his as she buries into his blonde hair, comforted by the familiar feel and smell. Instinctively his hand wraps around one of her arms, and he lurches back a little so that her chest is pressed against him. “Of course we will.”

She believes in him. It’s so obvious in her voice – it comes from a deep part of her, that makes her core being. It’s enough, for now, to soothe his whirring brain and he closes his eyes, allowing the scent of salt water and violets to lull him into relaxation.
