Notes: Agatha Gloomfoil is such a cool name. Double knew what the hell was up.

"Are you not scared of me?" Double asked one day, and the warble in their voice seemed stronger than usual.

"Scared?" Fabian echoed the word back to them, and Double once again hated taking a human form. Yes, scared. They hissed inside of their head. Anxiety made their mind fuzzy, something that didn't happen often.

Double opted to keep their mouth shut while Fabian pondered over the question.

Fabian hummed. "No, I don't think so. You're actually pretty cool, Double."

Double's mind reeled. Cool? "Don't you hate me?" They trilled, and it almost sounded like they were begging. Where was all of this insecurity coming from? "Don't you find me terrifying?"

It was weird for them. No one's ever put this much effort into them before. No one's ever seen them, a mound of flesh and eyes and teeth, faces and claws - no one's ever seen them and asked to know the monster underneath.

And for Double, that was terrifying in and of itself.

Double didn't know much. Well. Double knew a lot. But they didn't know much. Double was not supposed to think, they were only supposed to do. Double was meant to serve, and that was all they'd really ever known. What the Trinity wanted was what they wanted, and that was how it had always been.

Until . . .

{"What do you think, Double?"

What did they think?

It was an odd question at the time. Fabian had asked for their opinion about something miniscule, perhaps how a dress or necklace looked on them, but the words got caught in their chest.

What did they think? They didn't think. What were they supposed to think?

At the time, Fabian had taken their silence for disapproval. Silently, he held it away from himself, inspecting it. "Does it not look good on me?" A pause, "I quite like the color, though."

Double blinked. "I," They had never been struck this dumb before, it was embarrassing, "Um."

Fabian raised any eyebrow. "Are you alright, Double?"

Were they alright? As long as Fabian was okay, they were okay. Because that was how it had always been.}

"I don't find you at all terrifying," Fabian's voice pulled them from the recesses of their mind, and they listened, "unless terrifyingly beautiful counts as terrifying." He chuckled to himself, some thought or joke that Double was too inhuman to catch.

"Beautiful." Double repeated.

"Yes," Fabian looked up from what he had busied himself with, and smiled at them, "stunning. Breathtaking, even."

Double figured if they were a robot of some type, they'd be overheating or short circuiting right now. Beautiful? An odd choice of words to describe them. Most people saw them and called them terrifying, demonic, frightening, appalling.

"Are you alright?" A pout crossed Fabian's face, one that Double had grown fond of. "Are you sick or upset?" Fabian trailed off. "Can you even get sick?"

Double was almost angry. How dare he? How dare he not be scared of them? Double could kill him. Double was evil, a monster, one who should not be cared for. Double was not supposed to think or want. Double was not made to be loved or found beautiful, Double was made to serve.

Double . . .

A nicer, gentler part of them, said it was nice. Maybe after years and years and years of servitude and being unable to do anything for themself, it was nice to have someone that adored them. Someone who valued them beyond what they could do.

"I cannot get sick." Double responded. "And I am not upset."

Fabian didn't seem satisfied with that answer.

The concern on his face made Double swell with emotion. Deciding to elaborate, for the both of their sakes, Double spoke, "I am simply pondering something. Nothing you need to worry yourself over."

"Are you sure?" He was pushy, but not suffocatingly so. "You know I'm here if you ever need to tell me anything, Double."

"Yes, I am aware." something akin to a smile graced their features. "But I promise you I am alright."

Fabian grinned at them, and they wanted to kiss him. That was how humans displayed affection, right?

Double leaned forward and pressed their lips in a chaste kiss to Fabian's forehead. To Double, the action was odd and foreign. They must've done something wrong, because Fabian giggled.

"Did I do something wrong?" Double frowned. Fabian shook his head, returning the kiss to Double's cheek.

"Not at all, love."

Double leaned into the kiss silently, contentment bubbling under the surface of their skin and lips.

They could get used to this.

i don't actually have many headcanons? the main one i do have though is that for selfship purposes w my wife, leviathan can seperate from squigly's body for the seven years she's put to rest. for the entire first year, he's asleep atop her grave. when the second year rolls around, he's awake, but groggy, and adjusts to life in a human-ish form (that i indeed gave him lol).

I have four wives from Skullgirls. Cerebella, Valentine, Black Dahlia and Parasoul in order of the strange order I categorize them in for some reason. My s/I for Cerebella is kinda just me, plus I ship her with Squigly (who is 14) so I hc her as a lolisho or something (in a sense idk what other way to say that. She dates children she's weird I love her). Valentine is my older sister figure and I don't selfship with her romantically so she's just a familial platonic f/o, I am simply kissing that old woman (black dahlias like 50 something), and honestly parasouls salty voice lines alone is what makes me attracted to her I want that woman to bully someone in front of me
