Skullgirls redesign: Filia!

Redesigns and gijinkas are one of my favourite things to draw at the moment, and I hate oversexualized characters, so here we are!

Thought process and sketches under the cut.

My first step was the trace the pose and change the figure. I made her clothing more like an actual school uniform by making the skirt & shirt longer. I also turned those weird tights into those knee-high sports socks you wear for gym.

Honestly i can kind of see what they were going for with those tights, my old winter uniform had similar ones, except they were the actual pant-legging things, not what she has.

Also, side note, SHE'S 16! (It's fucking crazy how sexualized school uniforms are, like, search 'school girl' and you'll likely find ai porn)

I debated tucking her shirt in and giving her gloves, but figured since this is my first redesign from this universe, I should keep her as close the her original design as possible.

I also attempted to draw her hair differently, but scrapped that when I realised it made her silhouette harder to recognise.

The metal waist band os obviously an asthetic choice on the original, but I decided to interpret it as a back brace (like come on, demon hair has to be pretty heavy, right?)

I struggled with her features a bit, but after a google search, I think she's supposed to be Italian? So I scraped my earlier more japanese looking sketches (sadly lost to the delete button) and landed on my final design:

Made an edit of my Fukua redesign, in an au where she ends up going to Filia’s school. It was my first time doing something like this, and I think I enjoyed it?

Feng edit! Edit > Original > Just skin tone edit~! I really wanted to push her silhouette more since the Cirque des Cartes has very funky shapes o(^▽^)o!

She’s also suppose to be the ace? So I decided to go for ace of spades I’m not sure if it reads that way.. but oh well I had fun ^-^!

don’t you hate it when your mom makes a wish to extend your life and ends up transforming into a horrible undead being of destruction that you are then forced to kill yourself (also you have a white creature, a missing eye, and a bang covering that missing eye)

kinda a skullgirls redesign, definitely not animation friendly or as campy; sorry to squigly’s striped sleeves and socks and skull top(?????), and sorry to Annie’s polly pocket dress. Im chill with annie’s pigtails but I did the single braid for funsiesss

quite a while ago, i made some sprite “traceovers” for my redesignverse(?) au! i decided to make some more bc why not (okay the actual reason is bc i saw someone repost the last sprite edits on pinterest (they even credited me!) and i love the attention) (was gonna post this on reddit but... i guess theres something going on)
