now, people are free to think whatever they like, i won't tell them that they're wrong, but i'm not sure i entirely agree with the idea that 432 is responsible for the skip button ending happening the way that it did,
rather... i think, quite literally, that they had no hand in it.

Hi hi so this super cool human person called @voidsnarrator posted a *beautiful* story and this scene of the narrator waking up in the post-skip button ending was too haunting not to recreate.
The static and sand and the broken hopelessness is just 👌👌👌 I loved it. Brilliant work. I hope I did it justice

Okay, apparently it was always supposed to be a paired hurt/comfort picture.
I must say that before the events of AU, the Narrator never remained alone. Inside the "Parable" there have always been either Stanley and Mariella, or technicians, or programmers and designers. Birds always heard other people, and later occasionally chatted with them.

It is genuinely insane that The Stanley Parable, within the first hour or so, hits you with the complete existential terror of the Skip Button End, of the idea of being alone with nothing but yourself for centuries, of the discussion of what the nightmare of being an artist is (trust me i am one that end hits like a truck), of the world completely COLLAPSING with the one presence that has been there the whole time completely disappearing, of the end of the entire goddamn universe,
only for the game to just hit you with the loading screen and put you back in the office and barely acknowledge it ever again. The only time it ever comes up again is the Epilogue, and that's because it takes place at the end of the world again. Settings Person doesn't bring it up. The Narrator never mentions it ever again. I do think the Jim Button is meant to look like it (yellow button with black accents, the podium looks identical, the texture of the floor is the exact same, the Narrator will take the Jim Button away if you press it thrice when the third skip was where the door vanished), but that is subtext. No one EVER acknowledges the HORRIFYING experience you had within the first HOUR of the game. That is so fucking funny I love this stupid game
