I just received my @kravebeauty Beet the Sun sunscreen. I’ve been on the hunt for a good sunscreen and I’ve only heard great things about this. Funny enough, since I purchased it I’ve seen about four different people post reviews about it and everyone seems to love it. So, I am excited to start using this. What I love is that it’s not just sunscreen ingredients but it has extra antioxidants for the skin. Lately I’ve been incorporating @drunkelephant’s A-Passioni retinol into my pm routine. . Retinol is a powerful anti-oxidant that boosts the activity of skin cells. It is known to have an adjustment period (called retinization) while your skin is getting used it. It is common to experience dryness, redness, irritation, flaking, and/or purging for the first few weeks of retinol use. . I have very dry, dehydrated skin so have been taking this process very slowly. I started only using it once a week, just to see how my skin would react. After about 3 weeks, I have increased my schedule to one night on, two nights off for the last couple weeks. On the “on nights” I will apply a pea-sized amount mixed with two pumps of B-Hydra and a dab of Lala Retro, and then top with Marula Oil. On the “off nights” I really focus on hydration and moisturizing the skin, using hyaluronic acid-rich serums, oils, and sleeping masks. On off nights, I have been incorporating @Herbivorebotanicals Emerald Oil and the @youthtothepeople Superberry Dream Mask. . I am still experiencing sensitization from the retinol, including increased dryness with slight flaking, redness, and a slight burning feeling when products are applied, especially around the corners of my eyes and mouth. I haven’t seen much purging by way of acne (although I don’t tend to be acne prone). I will push through for a couple more weeks to see how my skin responds. .
