Do you have whitish dome-shaped waxy papules/rash on the skin with a dot/umbilication in the center? Or does your kids have it? Molluscum contagiosum is an infection caused by a pox virus. It is transmitted through direct contact. Dermatologists treat this by extraction or by topical application of a specific cream. The 1st picture shows a biopsy of the papule in scanning view. The 2nd picture shows the "Henderson-Patterson bodies". And the 3rd picture shows the clinical appearance of the infection. #dermatopathology #dermatopathologist #skinbiopsy #dermatologist #dermatology #dumaguete #dumaguetecity #dumaguetebased #dumagueteskindoctor #dumagueteskinclinic #skindoctor #skindoctorclinic #skindoctordermpath #skindoctorphilippines #skindoctordumaguete #skinclinicdumaguete #skinhealth #skinhealthexpert #dermauthority #dermauthoritypds (at Skin Doctor Dermpath Clinic)

Scalp biopsies are necessary for complex or unusual presentations of hair loss. This is a short procedure performed in the office under local anesthesia. A punch instrument is used to make a circular incision in the skin. Thereafter the core of hair and skin is removed and submitted to the pathologist for evaluation under the microscope. In this photo, a core of skin containing hair is gently grasped with forceps before being removed. #scalp #biopsy #pathology #dermatopathology #skinbiopsy #hairbiopsy

A scalp biopsy is a short procedure performed under local anesthesia which allows a small 4 mm cylindrical sample of hair and skin to be obtained from the scalp. A "punch" is a sharp circular instrument that allows a core of skin to be taken. Once the sample is removed from the scalp, it is placed in a liquid solution called formalin and then sent off to the laboratory. A suture (stitch) is generally placed in the scalp at the site where the biopsy was performed. #scalp #biopsy #pathology #dermatopathology #skinbiopsy #hairbiopsy
