Guide for Matching Skid Steer Tires to Applications
Tumblr media
What are the guide for matching skid steer tire to application? How to Determine Which Tires Are the Best for Your Skid Steer Loader? Skid-steer tires have a substantial impact on both productivity and safety, and this is true regardless of the type of work being done with the skid-steer loader—landscaping, excavation, roadwork, general dirt work, mining, or any other type of work. If you do not use the appropriate kind of tire for the task at hand, your performance will suffer.
In addition to determining which tire would work best for the task at hand, it is essential to perform routine checks on tires to look for signs of wear and tear. When tires and rims are not maintained properly, there is a greater risk that they may become unusable, resulting in the need for more expensive replacement. Check for wear, punctures, rim damage, and other problems to eliminate the possibility of unsafe and inefficient operations as well as the possibility of harming components.
The following is a list of seven distinct types of skid-steer tires along with the common jobs that call for them:
Standard pneumatic tires are suitable for a wide range of jobs, including general soil applications, roadwork, landscaping, excavation, material handling, stacking, and agricultural construction. They are constructed out of durable natural rubber and are available in a number of different tread patterns, as well as radial and bias-ply variants to choose from.
Premium pneumatic tires are equivalent to standard pneumatic tires in that they are employed for activities that are functionally equivalent. On the other hand, features such as an additional layer of sidewall rubber, compounds that are resistant to wear, or extra material that overhang the edge of the rim are added with the purpose of increasing the rim’s longevity and providing additional protection.
Tumblr media
Because of their bigger footprint and tighter tread pattern, flotation tires are ideally suited for general soil work, agricultural, landscaping, excavation, and ship trimming in conditions when the ground is soft, muddy, or sandy. There are a variety of tread designs available to accommodate the many applications that call for robust flotation.
Tires with a heavy-duty construction are better suited for use on rocky or muddy terrain. They have a tread pattern that is very deep, and they are resistant to wear and punctures to an incredible degree. Frequent applications for these tires include skid-steer operations on abrasive surfaces or underground, in scrapyards, for roadwork, excavation, material handling, stockpiling, breakers, soft-soil mining, and industrial building.
Mining tires are equivalent to severe duty tires, but they are constructed with additional durability and protective qualities. Mining tires are also frequently referred to as super severe tires. Two instances of this are the use of solid center rims and bead-to-bead wire reinforcing. They are capable of performing a wide variety of tasks, including concrete work, cold planning, mining, quarry activities, demolition, forestry work, steel mill responsibilities, and recycling operations, to name just a few.
Rubber compounds that have undergone extensive research and development are used in the production of non-pneumatic tires because of their superior resistance to damage. They are sturdy, so there is no danger that they will fall apart. They are also large and heavy, which contributes to their stability and capacity, but also contributes to the amount of fuel they use. These tires are capable of performing the vast majority of the same jobs as those designated as super severe.
Non-pneumatic flexible tires are comparable to traditional non-pneumatic tires; however, they are constructed to offer more cushioning and a ride that is more comfortable than standard non-pneumatic tires (which are not knows for providing comfortable operations). Utilize these for the same objectives that you did previously, but with an experience that is less bumpy and more comfortable.

Tires for Skid-Steer Loader Applications
Skid-steer tires have a big effect on productivity and safety, whether you’re doing landscaping, excavation, roadwork, general dirt work, mining, or other skid-steer loader applications. If you’re not using the right type of tire for the job, performance suffers.
Along with choosing the appropriate tire type for the work, it’s also important to closely inspect tires regularly for damage. Proactive maintenance prevents tires and rims from becoming unserviceable, which obviously necessitates a more costly replacement. Check for wear, punctures, rim damage, and other problems to avoid unsafe, inefficient operations and the potential to ruin parts.
Here are seven types of skid-steer tires and what they’re typically used for:
Standard pneumatic tires are for light to moderate general dirt applications, roadwork, landscaping, excavation, material handling, stockpiling, and agriculture stant compounds, or extra material that overlaps the edge of the rim.
Premium pneumatic tires are similar to standard pneumatic tires and are generally used for the same applications. However, they’re augmented for extra durability and protection with features like an extra layer of sidewall rubber, wear-resin work.
Flotation tires have a bigger footprint and tighter tread, making them well-suited to general dirt work, agriculture work, landscaping, excavating, and ship trimming performed in soft, wet, muddy, or sandy ground conditions. Different available tread patterns accommodate different applications requiring high flotation.

2017 Line Up: More Specialization, Better Value
We couldn’t be more excited about our 2017 line up of bikes - they represent a significant evolution in electric bike design as well as a serious advancement in terms of value and accessibility. As you’ll see from the preview of bikes below, manufacturers are getting more specific in how their bikes are equipped, from a folding electric commute bike from Tern, to a 24″ wheel kids’ electric mountain bike from Haibike, to a value-oriented, high-tech speed bike from Stromer, to highly customizeable cargo bikes from Riese & Müller. And last but not least, a category defining sport utility bicycle from Benno Bikes.
Tern Vektron: A Formidable, Fast Folder
Make/Model: Tern Vektron Price: $3499 Includes: Lights, fenders, Yepp-ready rear rack Availability: Bikes expected February 2017. Sign up for updates here.
The Tern Vektron combines a serious folding commuter bike from Tern and the powerful, reliable Bosch Active Line drive system to create a bike that our customers have been asking for: a durable electric folding bike that will climb any hill.
Tumblr media
One of our favorite aspects of the Vektron is the ride feel - despite the 20″ wheels the Vektron rides like a great full-sized commuter. No surprise - Tern’s design team is 100% committed to the folding commute market.
>> Related Blog Post: Our Favorite Find at Interbike’s Outdoor Demo (video)
What’s more, Tern (a Taiwanese company) leverages their formidable manufacturing abilities to equip the Vektron with a hinge that’s overbuilt and effectivley indestructible.  Tern and Xtracycle recently teamed up to design a non-electric cargo bike, which required Tern to build a hinge that can withstand the stresses of a longer wheelbase cargo bike. This hinge was used in the Vektron to help support the added stresses of an electric bike. The components of the Tern Vektron are rock solid, and the price is spot on.
Haibike Sduro HardFour 4.0: For The Family That E-Bikes Together
Make/Model: 2017 Haibike Sduro HardFour 4.0 Price: $2599 Includes: Yamaha PW Drive System, 500 Watt-hour battery, front suspension Availability: Expected April 2017. Sign up for updates here.
Is this the ultimate middle school commute machine?  The Hard Four from Haibike definitely takes kid commute to the next level.
Tumblr media
Featuring 24″ wheels, front suspension, and an aluminum frame sized for folks under 5′, the Hard Four has a big attitude for such a small bike. The drive system is by Yamaha and is plenty powerful. If taking on steeper hills off road with your tween is exciting, the Hard Four will make this more than possible.  And with a 500 Watt-hour battery, standard, you’ll be able to ride all day if you wish. Hydraulic brakes, double-wall eyeletted rims, and Schwalbe tires round out this quality package.
The top assist speed of the HardFour 4.0 is 12 mph, in consideration of the safety of younger riders.
Stromer ST1X: Blurring The Line Between ST1 & ST2
Make/Model: 2017 Stromer ST1 X Price: $4999 Includes: Lights, fenders, rear rack, anti-theft system Availability: Test ride & pre-order now, bikes coming into stock 3/17
>> Related Blog Post: The New ST1 X From Stromer
The New ST1 X from Stromer incorporates much of the groundbreaking power and connectivity tech from the ST2, while retaining a price more on par with the ST1 Elite and Platinum models.
Tumblr media
Boasting all of the connectivity and anti-theft features of the ST2, plus a new Cyro drive motor, 3 battery size options, the ST1 X is guaranteed to be one of our top picks for folks wanting to energize their commute and enjoy that one-of-a-kind Stromer feel.
Haibike FullSeven 6.0: Long Travel Plus High Torque
Make/Model: 2017 Haibike Xduro FullSeven 6.0 Price: $4999 Includes: Bosch CX Drive Availability: Ready for demo in Larkspur through our Rent to Buy program.
One of a range of long travel all mountain bikes from Haibike in our 2017 lineup, the FullSeven 6.0 is full featured but a little lower in price than the FullSeven 7.0 (available April 2017) and the AllMtn 7.0 (available now in Larkspur).
Tumblr media
Haibike engineers continue to refine the integration of electric technology into the mountain bike frame using sophisticated casting technology to build strength into highly complex frame shapes while shaving weight - technology that borrows heavily from the motorcycle industry.  As well, the powder coated Bosch CX Drive motor is fully housed within the frame, with a composite skid plate underneath designed to take abuse.
The FullSeven 6.0 sports a SRAM NX 11-speed drivetrain, Magura hydraulic disc brakes, Schwalbe tires and Fox suspension front and rear.
The FullSeven 7.0 adds a new electric bike specific drivetrain from SRAM known as EX1 - an 8 speed set that facilitates larger jumps between cogs to pair with the best-in-class torque of the Bosch CX motor. In addition, the 7.0 has a dropper seatpost to improve rideability in rough conditions.
The AllMtn 7.0 bumps up travel from 120mm on the FullSeven bikes to 150mm, and adds a Shimano Deore XT Shadow drivetrain for precise shifts.
Riese & Müller Cargo Bikes: Game Changing Front Loaders
Make/Model: 2017 Riese & Müller Load & Packster Price: Starting at $4929 for the Packster Includes: Lights, fenders, suspension, many more options available Availability: Test Ride in San Francisco and Marin, Made for you in Germany
>> Related Blog post: Riese & Müller’s Design Genius
Front loaders are not new, but we’ve been waiting for the right one to come along.
Tumblr media
The Load is instantly recognized by it’s full suspension design. Using a sprung rear triangle, the Load suspends both the cargo and the rider to achieve the obvious effects - more comfort and better handling. To top it off, the Load can be configured with a Bosch Performance Speed motor that will assist up to 28 mph; if you’re considering doing high speeds, your going to appreciate the full suspension and amazing handling.
Many people’s first experience of a front loader cargo bike is that functionality is inhibited by rideability. Due to some amazing engineering, this is simply not the case with the Packster.
Tumblr media
Front loaders are the European standard for kid carrying. Why? Because parents like to see their kids while they ride. And, front loader ‘bucket’ bikes make it easy to enclose children in a weather proof canopy, available as an option with the Packster.
Most importantly, the Packster comes equipped with the best drive system for cargo: the Bosch Performance CX Drive. Add a Nuvinci continuously variable hub, paired with a Gates carbon belt drive, and you don’t just get the most cutting edge cargo bike around; you get the easiest to use and most durable cargo bike on the market. Hands down.
Benno Boost: The Sport Utility Bike, Refined
Make/Model: 2017 Benno Boost E Price: $4299 Includes: Lights, fenders, rear rack Availability: In Stock in San Francisco and Marin
>> Related Blog post: A New Class of Bike: Utility Bike >> Related Video: Benno Introduces the Benno Boost
To call the new Boost by Benno a cargo bike isn’t quite fair, though the utilitarian appeal of the Boost is undeniable.
Tumblr media
Boost is a bike built for rough San Francisco streets, especially if you want to be unhindered in carrying a young kid plus your gear. Bicycle designer Benno Baenziger set out to build a bicycle that would "inspire people to use their bike more often and incorporate cycling into their everyday life." One test ride on the Benno Boost, and it's clear Mr. Baenziger has succeeded.

Great cooperator, great foam filled tyre
Upon the end of the COVID-19 epidemic in China, infrastructure construction has embraced massive investment, which has drawn a considerable increase in the demand for construction machinery, especially aerial platform. Thus, resulting in the vigorous development of the foam-filled tyre market. Through the farsighted business distribution, Geelanter Solid Tire has now owned fully developed production lines and technology. At present, there are two foam-filled tyre production lines under full operation, which are capable of customizing foam-filled tires for equipment such as aerial platform(boom lift, telehandler),forest tractors , and skid steer loaders according to clients’ demands.
As we all know, some equipment needs to work in specific environments, such as construction sites full of rubble, nails and steel bars, forest paths full of stumps, gravel, docks or garbage disposal sites full of metal fragments, and underground mines with high safety level, where traditional pneumatic tires are incapable of action. The conventional pneumatic tires may be punctured, which may stop the operation of the equipment and cause accidents and unnecessary losses. Solid tires and foam-filled tires can both easily cope with such complicated environments, but foam-filled tires offer higher comfort and better adaptability to unpaved roads in the fields. This is also the reason why our clients choose foam-filled tires for a particular environment.
A foam-filled tire is filled with polyurethane upon the combination of a pneumatic tire with the wheel, which ensures that the tire is filled with filling materials. Upon puncture, the tire would not flatten, as there is no gas, which provides the underlying condition of the operation of machinery continuously. It is particularly important to select wheel rim suppliers who supply high-quality products and has strong production capacity. We have a long cooperation history with well-known domestic wheel manufacturers for years, forged much success in rapid small-batch product delivery according to the client’s requirements. We believe that high-quality products are made only under cooperation with great partners, and only high-quality products can satisfy clients and generate long-term cooperation!

Tire Maintenance Tips for Heavy Equipment
Tumblr media
What are the Tire maintenance tips for heavy equipment? Your tires can be kept in good condition by doing the appropriate maintenance on your heavy equipment tires. Regular inspections ensure you do not have a faulty tire on any equipment. The loader will experience delays in its job until it can get a spare tire mounted. Take care of all the wheels on your equipment so that you can keep your fleet running smoothly so that you can maintain an efficient workplace.
ENSURE THAT THE TIRES OF THE HEAVY EQUIPMENT ARE ALWAYS CLEAN
After each shift, give the tires the most thorough cleaning you can manage. Tires can wear out more quickly when exposed to things like road salt, mud, and other contaminants. It is recommended that you use soap and water to remove potentially damaging materials from your tires in order to make them last longer. In addition, a quick cleaning of the tires can aid with the inspection process. If the operator is unable to view the tires, they will be unable to notice any issues with the tires such as bubbles, fractures, holes, or punctures. If there is a coating of mud or dirt on the surface of the tire, it may conceal the damage until the tire begins to fail due to damage that cannot be seen.
VERIFY THE TIRE ALIGNMENT
Make sure that the wheels are aligned correctly. If there is an accident, the steering wheel could become dislodged, which would change the path that the wheels take. Incorrect adjustment results in unequal wear on the tires. During routine maintenance, you should check the wheel alignment as well as any uneven wear that can indicate bent steering wheel parts.
ENSURE THAT THE CORRECT AIR PRESSURE IS MAINTAINED.
The correct air pressure in your tires should be maintained at all times. Not only may this help your tires last longer, but it can also be considered a vital component of their routine servicing and upkeep. It is imperative that you do not add or remove air from tires that are not attached to the machine unless the tires are contained within safety cages. During the inflation process, you should not stand behind the wheels. Keep your distance to prevent any harm. Every day, you should check the air pressure in all of your pneumatic tires. When it comes to tires that are used less frequently, you should check the air pressure once a week.

When maintaining the tires on heavy equipment, make sure to use the appropriate tire size.
When choosing wheels for use in construction, it is important to select wheels that have been built for the equipment and purpose. Different tire treads perform very well on various terrains, and various tire sizes are appropriate for various types of loaders. For instance, there are several choices available for stone treads that are intended for use on hard floors. Treads with a smooth surface are difficult to wear down, but they offer very little traction. The rib patterns offer some flexibility over the terrain while still providing the required traction on the road surface.
The type of terrain and driving you do should guide your decision between solid and pneumatic tires. Pneumatic wheels provide a solid tread and a smooth ride, but they wear more easily and require continual air control. Pneumatic wheels also have the disadvantage of being more expensive. Strong wheels have a smooth surface that lasts longer than pneumatic wheels, but driving with them is uncomfortable since they do not provide a lot of traction and can cause skidding.
Cat FlexportTM tires, for example, are an alternative that can combine the two types. Because they have a design that prevents punctures and have a tread depth that is 58% greater, they are suitable for usage on a variety of terrains. Both wheel loaders and skid steers may be easily maneuvered with the Flexport wheel loader and skid steer wheels.
PERFORM DAILY CHECKUPS ON THE TIRES AND RIMS
As part of your routine maintenance, you should examine the wheels and rims every day. When doing an inspection of the interior, you should check for evidence of damage and clutter. Examine each of the following concerns:
Stone drilling
Cracks
Cuts
Uneven wear or tear
Bubbles
Bumps
Putting the valve caps in place to seal them.
Bolts were not present.
Fractures in the studs
Bent rim In the event that you encounter these issues with the tire, you will need to replace both the tire and the rim before bringing the machine back into the working area. Continuing to use a tire that has a surface flaw of any kind could result in a loss of productivity as well as substantial damage to the working environment.

7 Different Types of Skid-Steer Loader Tires
Tumblr media
What are the 7 different types of skid-steer loader tires? Whether you’re conducting landscaping, excavation, roadwork, general dirt work, mining, or other skid-steer loader activities, skid-steer tires have a significant impact on productivity and safety. Performance diminishes if you don’t use the correct sort of tire for the job.
Along with selecting the right tire for the job, it’s also critical to inspect tires for deterioration on a regular basis. Tires and rims that are properly maintained are less likely to become unserviceable, necessitating more expensive replacement. Examine for wear, punctures, rim damage, and other issues to avoid dangerous, inefficient operations and the risk of destroying parts.
Here are seven different types of skid-steer tires and their typical applications:
General soil applications, roadwork, landscaping, excavation, material handling, stockpiling, and agriculture work are all covered by standard pneumatic tires. They’re made of tough natural rubber and come in a variety of tread patterns, as well as radial and bias-ply alternatives.
Premium pneumatic tires are comparable to normal pneumatic tires in that they are used for similar purposes. However, characteristics such as an extra layer of sidewall rubber, wear-resistant compounds, or extra material that overlaps the rim’s edge are added for added durability and protection.
Flotation tires feature a larger footprint and a tighter tread pattern, making them ideal for general dirt work, agriculture, landscaping, excavation, and ship trimming in soft, muddy, or sandy ground conditions. Different tread designs are offered to fit various applications requiring strong flotation.
Heavy-duty tires are designed for use in mud or on hard surfaces. They have a particularly deep tread pattern and are extremely wear and puncture resistant. Skid-steer operations on abrasive surfaces or underground, in scrapyards, for roadwork, excavation, material handling, stockpiling, breakers, soft-soil mining, and industrial construction are all frequent uses for these tires.
Mining tires, sometimes known as super severe tires, are comparable to severe duty tires but are built with added durability and protection characteristics. Solid center rims and bead-to-bead wire reinforcement are two examples. Concrete work, cold planning, mining, quarry activities, demolition, forestry work, steel mill duties, and recycling operations are just a few of the applications they can tackle.
To provide higher damage resistance, non-pneumatic tires are constructed from highly developed rubber compounds. They are solid, which means they will not collapse. They’re also big and hefty, which helps with stability and capacity—but also with fuel consumption. These tires are suitable for the majority of the same tasks as super severe tires.
Non-pneumatic flexible tires are similar to conventional non-pneumatic tires, but they’re designed to provide additional cushioning and a more comfortable ride (which are not knows for providing comfortable operations). Use these for the same purposes as before, but with a smoother, more comfortable ride.

Should you Buy or Rent a Skid Steer?
Whether or not you should buy construction equipment such as a skid steer completely depends on the frequency and size of your projects. Construction equipment often requires different attachments depending on your project so you need to keep in mind that you will need to make the same decision when it comes to the attachments as well and whether to invest in those or rent them out separately. Now coming to a skid steer specifically, should you buy it or rent it? This again depends on whether you need the skid steers on most of your projects. If you need it frequently, rather than renting it out, it may be worthwhile to invest in it. One thing that needs to however be kept in mind is that owning the equipment also means other costs for its maintenance and upkeep. If you invest in the base equipment, you might eventually need to rent out the different attachments for different jobs. If usage is not very frequent, it might be more feasible and financially better to rent it out. This ensures that you pay only for time you actually need and avoid the hassle of buying the equipment and attachments that you may not use often.
The best way to understand this is to speak with a professional. A professional can assess your specific requirements and advise you about the decision to buy or sell. Get in touch with us if you need any help with making the right decision. Visit us for : construction equipment wheel rim
