kalos mega gym leaders idea
This is just another idea I had for a while. I'm sure there are other people out there who have already thought of this but anyway, I'm going to give it a try as well. It's another what if scenario. What if the gym leaders of Kalos could use mega evolution and what if their Kalos Ace Pokemon were given mega evolution forms. These are just my ideas on what pokemon the kalos gym leaders will have.
Disclaimer: I'm not doing this to flaunt my ideas and say that they're better than the ideas of the pokemon company. This is just a fun what if scenario.
Ok. So the pokemon that I think each gym leader should have to mega evolve is as follows:
Viola: Mega Vivillon
credit: Ana Zamora on Pinterest
Vivillon with a mega evolution form. When it mega evolves, it'll become a Bug and Fairy type. I Imagine Vivillon will have a beautiful pattern like this on its wings (this design was made by Ana Zamora on Pinterest). I imagine it would change colour all the time in battle (like changing into the different colours from its different patterned forms). It can release powder of different colours that can nullify the effects of terrain moves (electric terrain, grassy terrain, etc). It's new ability will be camouflage (it'll change elemental types when it's hit by a move in battle).
Grant: Mega Tyrantrum
credit: ETHEREAlHAZE on archive.pokemon.com
Tyrantrum with a mega evolution form. When it mega evolves, it becomes a Dark and Rock type. I imagine Tyrantrum having spikes on its body like this and a gem on its forehead which stores ancient power and use it to demolish buildings? This design was made by ETHEREALHAZE on archive.pokemon.com.
Korrina: Mega Pangoro
credit: Shin Art on Pinterest
Instead of her ace being a Lucario, maybe a Pangoro. When it mega evolves, Pangoro becomes a Grass and Fighting type. I imagine Pangoro having a large bow staff on its back too to go with the design or maybe gauntlets made of bamboo to crush targets (by Shin Art)?
Ramos: Mega Gogoat
credit: SkarmorySilver on Pinterest
His ace Pokémon will be a Gogoat. So when it mega evolves, it'll still be a grass and rock type. It's new ability will be Overgrowth. I imagine its horns will look like this and it'll have rocks on its back. Its body will be tough to destroy rocks with ease and fast enough to give fast Pokémon like Staraptor a run for its money (by SkarmorySilver).
Clemont: Mega Heliolisk
credit: Neomarkan on Devianart
His ace pokemon will be a Heliolisk. When it mega evolves, it'll be a fire and electric type. It's new ability will be flash fire. I imagine it would look like this with a sun themed look to it which looks cool. This was made by Neomarkan.
Valerie: Mega Sylveon
credit: Chris J Alejo
Her ace pokemon will be a Sylveon. When it mega evolves, it'll become a fairy and flying type. It's new ability will be Pixilation. Sylveon will have wings to enable it to fly and a little more ribbons to ensare opponents. I was thinking of giving it this look to really lean towards its fairy themed design and having Sylveon be the only eveelution that can mega evolve out of all of them makes it stand out from the rest of the eveelutions (by Chris J Alejo).
Olympia: Mega Malamar
credit: YingYangHeart on Devianart
Her ace Pokemon will be a Malamar. When it mega evolves, it'll become a psychic and water type. It's new ability will be Levitation. I imagine it looking like this (by YingYangHeart on Devianart). It uses its multiple eyes to scan the field for opponents and with its many eyes, it can evade attacks. Its eyes can emit psychic energy which can push back targets (its eyes are there to protect it too).
Wulfric: Mega Avalugg
credit: ericgl1996 on Devianart
https://www.deviantart.com/ericgl1996/art/Mega-Avalugg-Avalugg-s-Mega-Evolution-973229956
His ace Pokemon will be a Avalugg. When it mega evolves, it'll become a Ice and ground type. It's new ability will be Snow Warning. I imagine it having large ice mountains on its back like this (made by ericgl1996 on Devianart). I also thought of the Team Glacier leader having this Pokémon to fight with in the Pokémon XY rewrite but we'll see.
The reason why I changed some of the ace Pokémon of the gym leaders is because it didn't feel right having some of the kalos gym leaders 1 ace Pokémon being from a different region. I just did it like this so the gym leaders each have one ace pokemon being from Kalos (I hope that makes sense). Let me know what you think about these ideas.

Regarding your fakemon region (which I absolutely love btw), three questions: a) Have you ever planned for the Pikaclone (I assume the Electric/Dark packrat is one) to evolve since you said the canon Pikaclones should, and how would you design an evo for it? b) What would the fossils of this region be, assuming you considered having them? And c) What would you name this region? Something paranormal-related maybe because of the whole alien activity deal and the abandoned dump/town...?
Since they haven’t evolved a pikachu in years, I left mine unevolved so the concept would still feel more “authentic” to gamefreak! If it did evolve though, maybe it stores coins it steals in cheek pouches, but then that might be too similar to Alolan Raticate. If I did add fossils, I’d most want either more cambrian invertebrates (like opabinia) or insects from amber but that’d again make the region feel TOO much like something I designed for myself. I think the next best thing and something Pokemon is long overdue for is a Dimetrodon, and maybe something else from the early Permian. I’d say a giant salamander but I already have another of those in the region, so maybe just another Synapsid to go with the Dimetrodon, one of those big doglike Gorgonopsids or something. The region is based on the pacific northwest (Washington and Oregon) so maybe something from that? (The text of my original pokemon region is here, but is a work in progress)

skarmorysilver replied to your photo “Toys Я Us in 2018”
Is this, perchance, also inspired by that burning giraffe in one of the paintings of Salvador Dali?
Yes, it 100% is. I think it captured the mood very well.

skarmorysilver replied to your photo: Hey, remember that time I doodled a piggybank...
Nice work with this! I don’t know if this is coincidental or not, but there’s a Chinese mythical creature called a zhulong, which has a pig’s head and a dragon’s body. I suppose combining it with a piggy bank and a dragon hoard is the next logical step!
Thanks! And haha, really? I had no idea, but that's a pretty awesome coincidence!

Next up on the giveaway art train, SkarmorySilver's Li Nehza. Really fun color scheme to work with, shame the bust portrait format makes it hard (or impossible maybe?) to see his having of for arms, hehe.
Commissions, if you’re interested~♪ Redbubble store, for retail therapy~♪ Patreon, for extra support and exclusive goodies~♪

So long, and thanks for all the fish.
As those of you who follow me on Tumblr may have noticed by now, I am no longer reblogging or posting anything there. This is because, for a number of personal reasons, I am not using Tumblr anymore for any purpose whatsoever - all my blogs and sideblogs are dead accounts and have been for years now. I apologize to those of you who became familiar with me because of Tumblr, but it's a decision I've subconsciously made for a long time and only now decided to officially announce. This also has nothing to do with anyone on Tumblr if you were wondering - while I've seen a fair share of online drama on this site, it has not affected me enough on a personal level to be a reason for leaving. Rest assured, however, that if you still want to see my previous reblogs, I won't be deleting any of my blogs. I just won't be posting on them anymore (at least not on a regular basis).
With that, thanks for the memories, Tumblr. There may have been ups and downs while being here, but I don't regret the time I spent on this site and the friendships I started through it. It's just that I think it's time for me to move on with my life and look towards my future. I hope someday I can start anew here, but... sadly, I doubt that will happen anytime soon.
If any of you who followed me here prior to my departure still want to reach out to me, I'm much more active elsewhere, thankfully, and always open to polite conversation via PM on the sites and apps I'm active on. So check out the links below if you want to see me still flopping around the Internet after all these years!

We were all pretty sure that Galarian Rapidash would end up sprouting wings, weren't we? On account of that being the only way it could be any more obviously Princess Celestia?
It’s just the logical extension if it gets a third/mega form. It’s not even about Princess Celestia so much as it’s about being painted on the side of a van. If you do a google search for Mega Rapidash, basically all fans agree that it should have wings...
Except for artist SkarmorySilver who, like me, would want to emphasize the Kirin aspects.

Commission: Landilizandra by SkarmorySilver
A commission for my wonderful friend, TheLOAD (who is also on Tumblr here)! This is Landilizandra, her dragon goddess character, who has made the rounds quite a lot in a lot of dragon-centric projects from various artist buddies of ours. I was given the go-ahead to interpret her in my own style of drawing dragons, which was quite fun because of the task of working with my own distinct style for dragons while keeping all the recognizable parts of her. In my own fantasy taxonomy, she'd be a member of the mountain dracos/mount devils (genus Diabolus), which are the closest wyrms I can think of body-plan-wise to how she usually looks.

Happy (belated) birthday! Amazing job on the Nine Children of Ana as fakemon, by the way - the amount of creativity you poured into them is impressive and I look forward to seeing where you go next with regards to fakemon designs! I'm guessing that these things are legendaries or at least equivalents thereof, since the Children of Ana are after all the mythical sources of all diseases known to man. - @skarmorysilver
Thank you! I put a lot of effort into their concepts and designs. They’re basically minor legendaries, not unlike the Ultra Beasts or Heatran.
And thanks for the birthday wish, it’s actually not belated since it’s still August 2nd for another 2 hours where I am!

I also wonder if you'll be covering killer animals as a genre in the "broad topics list" on ICHF sometime. Natural horror films are common enough to warrant a whole category on Wikipedia, and they also seem to cross over three of the four horrors you've defined, with Cosmic being the exception as you've explained. I think Jaws and The Birds may also deserve articles of their own, being the two archetypical examples of natural horror in movie media.
I will probably cover the Killer Animal on the Loose genre at some point, yes.

Birthday Gift Art: Squid Icarus by SkarmorySilver
Why settle for just a two-armed hug when you can have a twelve-armed one? Meet Stephanie "Steph" Podd, a PPC agent written by Voyd, and her boyfriend, my own Cupid Carmine! The lineart for this picture was created in 2015 as part of my 30-Day Monster Girl challenge, specifically the penultimate "Monster Girl and Her Significant Other" entry. Voyd's birthday is today, so I decided to finally do the inevitable thing with sketch arts I particularly like and color it as a gift for him - and I liked it even more, so I've decided to post it here as well. Happy Early Valentine's Day, y'all! Cupid started life as a Sue-wraith I found in a Kid Icarus badfic in February of 2015 - and since the mission in question was in fact posted on Valentine's Day of that year, his third out-of-universe birthday is therefore just three days away! From my recollections, Steph was created later that same year, and originally the two of them were just meant to go their separate paths. Voyd had his own characters and story arcs to work with, and I had mine. HOWEVER... the fact that I used to collaborate with other people quite a lot in the PPC missions I managed to publish in the past few years meant that I could never predict what would happen to anyone me and my buddies had created. Even a simple "what if" scenario could end up becoming canon at the drop of a hat, and that's pretty much what happened with this pairing here. Cupid has a liking for tall, beautiful women and used to be a tad more lecherous - a property which, thankfully, I've toned down quite a lot after consulting with multiple other Boarders on the subject - and Steph, being a Monster Musume fan-character (though she's actually a Kraken monster-girl, her appearance being derived from the Monster Girl Encyclopedia's depiction of the legendary sea-beast), had more than a few traits straight out of an ecchi anime like her home continuum is, especially a love of tentacled hugs and a fondness for cute guys. You'd think they'd go so well together! Not long after his first written mission with Steph was published, Voyd randomly asked what would happen if she ever met Cupid, and I was a little taken aback at the implication that the two of them would fall in love. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized not only that pairing them made perfect sense, but also that giving Cupid an actual girlfriend would be the perfect way to keep him from flirting too much for the Board's comfort. So I agreed to co-write a mission with Voyd where Cupid and his partner met and worked with Steph and hers. Well... To make a long story short, tol squid + smol angel = adorable official couple that wound up becoming totally canon to PPC lore. Sadly, due to real life and scheduling constraints, Voyd is no longer able to participate in the PPC community, and honestly I haven't been able to publish any missions in the past year for similar reasons. That hasn't stopped Cupid/Steph from being enjoyable while it lasted, though, and I'm glad we were able to make something great out of it. (And now I'm reminding myself again to return to my PPC writings, which I've wanted to do for a while now but couldn't find the motivation... Goddamn dumb awesome personal projects and software consulting job. X'D) So from me and my agents to you, Voyd, Happy Birthday! I hope your path in life leads you to great things, and I hope we get the chance to collaborate on future writings sometime soon - especially if more Squid Icarus is involved. Now Taking Commissions!
As the title says, commissions are now open! Feel free to step right up and pay me for art, though remember to read the rules below first!
What I will draw:
Fakemon (duh!).
Pokémon-related things in general (Pokémon, items, locations, scenes, etc.).
Fantasy creatures and creature designs.
Animals in general, both living and extinct.
Fanart, as long as it's SFW, bonus points for if it's a fandom I'm familiar with.
Your OCs and OC concepts. This includes you or your persona, as long as you keep any reference images of yourself confidential so as to avoid accidental leakage of private information.
Single-subject pictures, or anything involving at most two subjects.
Weapons and items. Keep in mind that these are usually 3D-modeled and may take longer or shorter than usual to produce depending on how complex they are.
Logos and emblems.
General character artwork, scenes, etc.
What I'll consider drawing:
Group pictures. I've done pics with up to ten people before, but that's a very taxing endeavor. I'll generally be most comfortable with five subjects or less, especially for finished pics. Lineart or base color pics carry a little more leeway for me.
My OCs. I'm currently in the process of revising more or less all of my characters, and I haven't finalized any of them just yet; I'd rather hold off on doing artwork with them until I've done so. If I post a finalized design I'll also provide an indicator that yes, they can be used with my commission work, provided that you do the research regarding their characterization and acceptable scenarios involving them. Exceptions to this rule include my eligible PPC characters (I'll put up a list of them ASAP for reference) and characters whom I've adopted from other people.
Canon characters from continua I'm not familiar with. Please provide as much ref art as you can in such instances, so I can have a better reference pool for work featuring such characters.
Comics (four panels or less is fine, but more than that would require further discussion; no multi-page comics, period).
SFW anthro. I'm not interested in drawing NSFW anthro stuff, of course, but I've drawn vanilla anthro before and while I don't have as much interest in it as general creature design, I'm open to anthro commissions as long as you keep them family friendly.
Pics involving creature violence, up to and including gory battle scenes. Snuff artwork and mutilation of canon characters are exceptions to this possibility and fall under inflammatory artwork, though.
What I WON'T draw:
NSFW content in general - this is my (mostly) SFW account for a reason. I do have NSFW commission info but if you want a NSFW commission then you'll have to PM me for it so I can route the info to you. (As noted above, though, monster violence involving gore is a possible exception. It shouldn't be the main subject, though.)
Inflammatory subject matter, e.g. hate art. Whether it's directed towards canon characters or other real-life people doesn't matter, it's always off-limits. This also goes for offensive subject matter in general, e.g. anything that slanders religion, race, sexual orientation, politics, etc.
Anything to do with current events, e.g. political cartoons. This can potentially fall under inflammatory content as noted above.
Commission Directions
NOTE ME FIRST. Discussing ideas before putting them on paper is a very important step to getting a commission done. Please let me know what scenario you want, what characters, and whether or not you want lineart, base colors, etc.
BE SPECIFIC. Send me as much ref art as possible, and try to describe what you want for your scenario as much as you're able. This way I'll have a better idea of what to draw.
I only accept cash commissions at this time. As tempting as point commissions sound, I need the cash money right now and I'd rather be able to use my earnings for things.
If you want me to draw artwork featuring another person's characters, ask the other person first. This goes without saying - I don't want to have to draw a character without their owner's consent!
Once we get the details taken care of, I'll determine whether or not I'll be able to draw the commission, and send you my e-mail address if I am. Be ready to send the appropriate payment through PayPal as soon as possible; I won't start drawing until the payment is provided in full. Again, I reserve the right to refuse a commission if it doesn't abide by the above rules, but do be aware that I'm a very busy person, and I have to turn down a commission if I simply don't have the time or resources to create it.
When the work is finished, I'll let you know ASAP and we can discuss whether to post the pic or not. If you want to post it on your account, I'll send you the completed pic so you can do so, but otherwise I'll put it up on my DeviantArt and Tumblr accounts. If you don't want me to post the work publicly, let me know as soon as possible.
Tying to the above, if you want to share the finished work online yourself, DO NOT DISRESPECT MY CREATIVE EFFORTS. This includes failing to credit me or linking back to my dA account, removing my signature from the finished work, or claiming that you created the work and deserve all the credit for it. I've seen the front and back ends of too many kerfuffles over this matter, and my stance is clear on this matter: I, THE CREATOR OF THE WORK, AM ALSO THE LEGAL OWNER OF IT, AND ERASING ME FROM THE WORK OR OTHERWISE NOT CREDITING ME WHEN SHARING IT IS ILLEGAL AS WELL AS POOR CONDUCT. So if you think removing my signature when sharing something YOU PAID ME to create is a good idea, don't commission me at all.
Likewise, when it comes to my prices, WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT YOU GET, PERIOD. Do not ask me to lower my prices, do NOT bargain with me regarding prices, and do NOT ask if you can hold off your payment until after I finish the work. Be aware that I'm in a less stellar position than I feel I should be in terms of savings money, so every penny counts towards keeping me being able to afford the things I need and want. I THEREFORE HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO REFUSE A COMMISSION IF THE EFFORT REQUIRED DOES NOT MATCH THE SUM YOU'RE OFFERING. That being said, if you're willing to change your offer to a cheaper commission type, e.g. a $15 lineart instead of a $20 color piece, please note me as soon as possible so I can adjust accordingly. I'm willing to take lower payments as long as you understand that this affects the outcome of the commission and as long as you keep the discussion civil.
I'm a SLOOOOOW drawer. Work, family, chores, and just plain old procrastination are all to blame for that. If you feel that I've unknowingly neglected a commission you paid for or which we've otherwise settled, please let me know as soon as possible and I'll add or re-add you to the commission to-do list for future reference. Or just remind me in general so I won't forget.
Prices
Standard Commissions:
Lineart: $15 (1 subject) + $5 per extra subject
Base Color, No Background: $20 (1 subject) + $10 per extra subject; $5 extra for shading
Finished Artwork (Fully shaded): $30 (1 subject) + $10 per extra subject; $10 extra for background
Special Commissions:
Fakemon: $10 per stage (i.e. a 3-stage line would cost $30); shiny colors are $2 extra. This pricing also goes for Mega Evolutions, regional variants, and form changes, which require their own separate artworks and count as separate "stages".
Character Concept Sheets: $20 (1 subject only). Additional fees for supplementary sketches may apply; feel free to talk to me about such extra material.
Logos, Emblems, and Sprite Work (transparent): $5 per subject or logo; $1 extra for sprite shading; alternatively, $20 for a Pokémon-style sprite sheet.
Literature: $50 (up to 10 pages on GDocs) + $10 per extra 5 pages. I have very little time for writing as it is, so I'll need a very good reason to write something for you! Any number of characters is fine, as long as they abide by the rules above.
That's all, folks! Here's to making a lot of good commissions in the future!
-SkarmorySilver
