Skam Chill Christmas Challenge

I stress too much before Christmas and one of my big goals is to chill more. However, I’d still like to do something for the Skam fandom this winter. Something not too stressful. So I’ve made a small challenge, and if you want to try it, feel free to do so! If you feel too busy, well, “ikke stress!” Have a nice holiday instead.

This December (December 1st to 31st), do at least one of this things below, post about it on Tumblr or Instagram and mark it as #skamchillchristmaschallenge. If you post things on AO3 you can add it to the Skam Chill Christmas Challenge collection. I’ll make a masterpost of all our lovely work some time in the beginning of January.

Things you can do for the challenge:

Send an Christmas greeting (anonymously or not) to someone you know. It’s great if you post that you’ve done it, so that I can collect it in my masterpost.

Write a drabble/ fic/ fanart/ poem/ meta/ edit/ music list/ video/ podcast or what you like with a winter or Christmas theme of your choice. You can even gift someone with the thing you have made!

Skam Chill Christmas Challenge - Works in progress (WIPs)

Happy December 1st! I am kinda excited about my Skam Chill Christmas Challenge (even if I end up being the only one doing it, hah). I wanna start out this challenge posting about something I am working on. One of my works in progress is a Norwegian fic, my very first, and I am kinda nervous about it. It’s horribly cheesy. But hey, who cares, I’m having fun so why not post a little snippet from it! I am planning to post this in some time now in December. 

The fic is called “Mine egne meninger” and it’s a future fic, and I used the prompt “always chill at the cabin” and “holy fuck (fy faen)”. It’s a friends to lovers thing from Eva’s point of view. She has brought her friends Isak, Even and Vilde with her to her cabin. There will be some winter swimming, a bonfire, lots of gløgg and quite a bit of hooking up. Smut, too. Warning, though: This is very cheesy. And unbetaed. And, of course, Norwegian. Here goes:

De ryddet vekk spillet etter at Isak hadde vunnet med brask og bram. Isak ble ganske så høy på seg selv etterpå, og krevde kyss fra Even i premie. Kyssene deres utviklet seg raskt til å bli mer hooking enn kyss, og Eva lurte på om guttene kanskje var blitt litt påseilet av all drikken, de også.

Hun kikket raskt på Vilde, som stirret oppslukt på Isak og Even. 

Eva prøvde å ikke tenke på at hun godt kunne tenke seg å kysse Vilde.

Stillheten i rommet ble plagsom og Eva visste ikke hvor hun skulle se. Hun så ut gjennom vinduet og nippet til vinglasset, kjente varmen spre seg i kroppen. Det var mørkt ute, men hun kunne likevel skimte at snøen falt tett der ute nå, noe helt annet enn det grå sluddet i oslogatene. I morgen tidlig kom det til å være borte, da. Var ofte sånn her ved sjøen.

Noen prikket henne på ryggen. Eva snudde seg og møtte det gråblå blikket til Vilde og det kjentes som hun falt. Hun rødmet og smilte raskt. – Går det fint?

– Ja da, smilte Vilde. – Mer vin?

– Takk, sa Eva og rakte fram glasset. Akkurat nå var hun veldig glad hun hadde noe å holde seg fast i.

Vilde fylte opp glasset og satt seg nærmere, søkte Eva med blikket igjen.

Eva kjente at suget i magen ikke ville gi seg. Hun lurte på om Vilde noen ganger kunne føle det samme. Vilde hadde jo sagt at hun ikke gjorde sånt, men Eva hadde noen ganger lurt, likevel. Det var noe med måten Vilde så på henne noen ganger. Som om hun hadde noe hun ville si, men ikke turte.

Eva ble var at Vilde satt veldig nært. Hun kunne kjenne varmen fra kroppen hennes der de satt tett sammen i sofaen. Det hele var ganske distraherende, plutselig var Eva hyperbevisst på seg selv, på hvordan hun satt og hvordan hun pustet. Varmen fra kroppen til Vilde var for mye, og når skulle egentlig Isak og Even slutte å kline?

About the Mother of Nights and Yule and everything

I am writing a Norwegian fic where Even is Frey (Frøy). And yeah, I know it’s a pretty silly project but I’m having so much fun with it. I started on it ages ago, but I think I’m finally starting to get somewhere. The fic is set on December 21st, on Winter Solace, and of course the story is filled with Norse traditions and weirdness. Because, of course a lot of our Christmas traditions evolved from old heathen customs and from a time where Yule was about celebrating the sun and life and about animal sacrifices, drinking alcohol, about goblins and porridge and Frigg’s misteltoe and Thor’s goats and Frey’s pig and only the gods knows what not. To be honest, not much has changed, hah. 

Yule started on December 21st, the longest night and the mother of all nights. The celebration lasted for three days, but Yule lasted even longer, until the Midwinter blot on January 12th. This makes it very interesting to set my story on December 21st. 

Anyway. I kinda love that this holiday has become this lovely melting pot of traditions. In addition to Norse traditions and Christian ones there are influences from all over the world. To me that means that we can all find meaning in this holiday, if we are religious or not. No matter what we believe it’s a celebration of the sun and the light and of life, family and giving. 

Now, about that fic. I’ve decided to have a chill December but I still hope that I’ll manage to post at least a first chapter of my Frøy fic by Friday the 21st. - As long as I don’t get lost in all our strange holiday traditions it might happen. We’ll see.

Six Sentence Sunday

I am writing on a small Vilde fic that I might or might not finish this December. But here’s a snippet from it:

At least it wasn't snow, Vilde thought as she hurried across the wet grass and into the main building of the polyclinic. She wouldn’t mind a green Christmas at all. She rushed down the hall trying unsuccessfully to juggle all of her books and papers. Several times she had to stop and pick up papers as they fell from the folders under her arm.

Vilde took a deep breath and pushed open the door with her shoulder, preparing for another long day.

Just then someone bumped into her. Someone pretty; the tops her cheeks rosy from the cold or her exertions or both, her mouth full and soft-looking while auburn curls peeped out from under her beanie. She smiled, her bright eyes sparkling, and Vilde’s body recognized her before her brain did.  Vilde felt like she froze and melted at the same time.

Skam Chill Christmas Challenge - Masterlist

This challenge became a really chill thing. I had one goal and it was to post at least one thing in December. I managed that and then some. I had plans to do some fanfic recs, but that will have to wait until I have more time.

Skam Chill Christmas Challenge - A Recap So Far

I haven’t talked much about my “Skam Chill Christmas Challenge” lately. Since it’s almost been a week since December started I want to sum up what I’ve done so far. And since my goal is to do at least one thing in December, I’m pleased to say that I’ve done that and more! Yay! Low expectations seem to make me productive.

It’s all so chill.

This is what I’ve done so far: 

Together with Allie/ @evakuality I have written a small wintery fic; Not an aberration, but rather a truth.

I painted Even in the snow as an illustration to that same fic.

I painted Eva and Chris (failing to) doing Holiday chores (nsfw)

(I also painted Isak and Even kissing under the northern lights, but that was part of the Evakteket Skameger Hunt, so I can’t really count that here, lol).

I have posted a bit of one of my Holiday wips, “Mine egne meninger”

I may or may not have sent a Christmas greeting or two to some people.

Now I haven’t had the time to read much lately, so my goal for the following weeks is to read more Holiday fanfics, and to kudos and comment. I have also two Norwegian ficlets that I’ll try to finish during December. We’ll see how it goes!

So far Allie and I are the only ones doing this small challenge, or at least I think so (finding stuff on Tumblr isn’t easy these days). But if you would like to join me, I would really love that. No pressure though. Just chill.
