Stela, how have you been? It’s been so long it’s actually crazy. I know I could’ve just DM’ed you but there is just something so nostalgic about sending asks that I had to do it.

There is always at least one day a year when I reminisce about my tumblr days and you’re always one of the first people to pop up in my mind.

Sometimes I really miss it here, but I guess it will never be like the time when we were in the skam fandom, since everyone had absolutely nothing to do during the pandemic. I think it was really nice that we created a world of our own here and it really got me through those tough times.

Sorry for the rant, I don’t even know what I’m talking about anymore, I always feel like using tumblr again, but then I get here and get kinda sad due to all the nostalgia and feeling that it will never be the same. I'm ok - I both can't believe it's gonna be the end of January and also can't believe it's still January 😂. Work has not stopped being insane since I took over this new position but I'm thankfully still loving it. And I'm especially loving living in a place where I am no longer dealing with -40 celcius through the winter 😅. I hope your holiday season and start of the new year has been going fabulously for you!

And 5 years? 5 YEARS?! How is that even possible omg 😭😭😭. That calls for a rewatch, I think. My babies 🥹. And the Maxel content yessss! I love you for linking posts thank you! One of my friends thankfully sends me things because I would end up missing them on social media otherwise. Honestly the joy their friendship brings me. 5 years and those boys are still tight. I love them so much. Also the fact that Rocco was looped into their little friend group and we have actual pics of Maxence with Rocco AND Axel? Truly... life has been good to us 😌😂.

And Punzel babies? Well, they're living their happy life together in their flat. Eliott definitely refers to Lucas as his husband even though - as Lucas insists - they're too young to get married. Eliott thinks that's nonsense because he's been waiting what amounts to their entire lives and obviously they're going to be together for life anyways. But for that same reason, he's not too fussed about it - official papers or not, they are married in his mind. They've definitely added to their little fam and have a cat in addition to their pup Pascale. The cat absolutely rules their home (as cats are known to do) and is the only one who can get Pascale to stop being mouthy (Huskies you know 😂). Lucas would definitely complain the cat doesn't like him and play up that they have some sort of nemesis relationship. Only Eliott has caught Lucas curled up asleep on the couch with the kitty on his chest wrapped up in his arms more than once. Eliott would be a little jealous about the fact that he's the one who dotes on the kitty but she still seems to be an utter suck for Lucas... only, he's the exact same way so he can't blame her 😌. Second to Lucas, her fave is Idriss. Because this cat has ✨taste✨. I'm trying to think what they would name their kitty... probably something Rapunzel adjacent because they're saps... but I don't have a name popping to mind just yet.

And of course there are the fun dynamics of their relationship that they will probably always be figuring out. Like Lucas realizing (and relishing) in the power he has over Eliott and the way he can make Eliott's brain short circuit in any variety of ways (like saying something incredibly explicit in the middle of much more innocent activities like cooking dinner). Then Eliott will remember he no longer holds his Punzel in the 'look but don't touch' category and things work out quite nicely for both of them 😌. Basically... they're living their best lives figuring out adulthood and now jobs together ❤️.

FIRST OF ALL, GO WATCH WTFOCK SEASON 3! Like, their Evak season is one of my favorite versions, Sander is such a sweetheart, he's the best Even, boyfriend material. And all the characters were allowed more screen time and plots, remember the girl that Isak tries to date in order not to look gay, and the only function the Original (and most remakes) gave her was to be the annoying girlfriend? I can't speak about the entire Wtfock. The 3th is really good, but I haven't watched the other two. Also, a lot of people hate the 4th and I never watched. The new season is nice, I've been busy to follow them, but the couple has a lot of chemistry and it's WLW so I'm down for it. All episodes are available on Youtube, which is a super bonus.

But yes, I have seen Eskam. I love Crisana (and cris season is so fun) and I was never able to get over my crush on Joana and that's okay. I don't like the first season much, but love the girl's squad dynamic. Also, their Noora/Vilde Season is something else, right? I feel like the put on a lot of things the fandom wanted to see in the original.

I think I have seen at least one season (or a few episodes) of each remake. I didn't follow them all, since the first four seasons are the same plot, but I have seen them all. My favorite was Skam NL, and to this day the fact that they got canceled haunts me. Skam Italia is amazing, all seasons! The characters have incredible chemistry and they changed a lot of the dynamics, it makes it feel like a new show. AND I LOVE DRUCK, are you kidding me? Third-best after NL version, they have the best chances into the storylines and the new generation is just superior to anything the others tried to do it (I'M TALKING TO YOU SKAM FRANCE). And we have Transgenders Characters falling in love, talking about the subject and it's so so beautiful. BTW, I like Skam France too, but they broke my heart with Maya and Lola breaking up so I'm not on good terms with them.

I hate Skam Austin and can't believe they approved that.

I don't wanna share the story because I'm always changing it! And I have dozens of drafts, and none is usable haha But I can say that the main inspiration will be the healthy versions of Noora/William. Sorry, but the original one is just not it for me. I loved Nooreva too much and hated William. Plus, Noora literally gets sick from anxiety while dating him, so nope. Not gonna work. Lucky for us, Skam Italia and Druck gave us healthy versions of this couple. I think Edoardo and Eleonora are the main inspirations, but Mia and Alexander are incredible as well. I could put some references to Skam NL as well, since Liv and Noah are very sweet and I feel like the closest I could be to a William is the Noah Sad artist version.

I can't give any spoilers for the druck fic because I want it to be the best one, Kieutou is my favorite skam couple. I'm gonna invest some extra time into this one.

Fic Origin Story

What was your first fandom (reading and/or writing)?

I didn't start reading fanfic until like four years ago, I didn't even know what it was. I discovered it on a series of posts on IG about wolfstar (fuck JKR btw). They were just drabbles, but one of the accounts that posted them had a link to AO3 and, well, the rest is history. I moved on from the HP fandom pretty fast though, I never interacted in it. It's a huge fandom and I was very overwhelmed to do anything more than lurk, but then I discovered SKAM, specifically SKAM France and that's the first fandom I was a part of.

I have some wips for that fandom but I never finished any (I just looked it up and the longest is 17k words, I should have def finished it.)

BUT the first time I ever wrote fanfic was many years ago. After reading the Hunger Games' books I thought it would be cool to know Peeta's side of the story so I started writing it. That's my real first approach to fic even though I didn't know what I was doing.

What was the first story you ever wrote (even if it was never posted) and what made you decide to write it?

I've been writing stories since I learned to write. I distinctly remember writing a tale about some mouse-like creatures that lived in my aunt's store when I was about 8. She thought I had seen a mouse for real and almost gave her a heart attack.

If we're talking about fic, the first one I ever finished and posted was 'On the outside looking through' and I only finished and posted it because I was encouraged by some lovely people in this fandom and had the SC Media Fest deadline. I decided to write it because I love Pride & Prejudice and I wanted to read a version of it in a modern setting.

What’s a piece of advice you would give to your younger fic-writing self?

Not to worry that much about small details or about how people will react to your fic. If someone doesn't like what they're reading they'll probably just close the tab and move on and not be a jerk about it. I was terrified of posting anything thinking I would get criticized for it.

What’s an early fandom interaction that stuck with you (be it a nice comment, a friend you made, a fic that got a lot of feedback etc.)?

I'm not lying when I say every comment means the world to me. People have been super kind to me, but I didn't have friends yet in the SC fandom by the time I posted my first fic, so I didn't know what to expect. Then @wordthieve commented on it and left me speechless. I couldn't believe the writer from one of my all time favorite fics (You can fall) would read my fic and much less say that she liked it.

Post a sentence or two from one of your older fics, and a sentence or two from a newer one (if you want).

He sees the moment Patrick realizes David overheard their conversation when his face falls. The atmosphere must be tense enough that Ted leaves them alone, joining Rachel and Alexis. David keeps looking at Patrick in the eyes and this time, Patrick holds his gaze. He’s blushing furiously and, unfortunately, it’s a very good look on him. Because David can’t help being a little shit, he plucks the cocktail umbrella from his jacket and places it inside the neck of Patrick’s beer bottle. “Live a little, Patrick.”

Ya know, the Evak story is so freaking epic. You’ve got Even who sees Isak on the first day of school and has such an intense love-at-first-sight feeling that he spends weeks just hanging out in Isak’s orbit hoping that he’ll notice him and by some miracle feel the same way and the wild part is... it works.

They both have completely separate instances of an immediate connection and attraction weeks apart. Then this bond just grows so quickly but deeply until they love each other so much that they are willing - as relatively young people - to overcome internalized homophobia, preconceived notions and prejudices about mental illnesses and the people that have them, deep rooted insecurities and feelings of abandonment, social isolation and a general fear of being rejected and cast out for being different.

Even one of those things would be a big hurdle but to tackle all of them just to be with the person you love? Allowing love to make you a better person takes a lot of courage and to see these two people who in a lot of ways never should have worked muddle their way through for each other and for themselves is amazing. 

Even realized how hard it would be and ran from it for all of like 3 minutes and then he couldn’t help but be pulled back to Isak. Even knowing what a risk it was to try to be with someone that might reject him because of a part of himself he had no control over. But he just couldn’t help it, when it came down to taking a chance of having his heart broken or never being with Isak again... it wasn’t really a choice at all. It was worth it to try. At the end of the day they love each other more than they’re afraid of the things that could keep them apart and that fucks me up so much.

Goddddddd if that stuff about the Skam France showrunners wanting to write their own version of Normal People for their Maya season is true, then Skam versions truly have lost the fucking plot. (I can't very well call Skam France a Skam remake at this point when over half of its seasons are not a remake, but original farting writing.)

Like Ally said here, the goals for Skam were to strengthen teenage girls' self-esteem through dismantling taboos, making them aware of interpersonal mechanisms and showing them the benefits of confronting their fears. But like, also, Skam was created by a whole ass department, not just Julie Andem. Julie Andem was a writer (that was her job title in NRK despite having already been showrunner of several shows) who was sent to interview teen girls in order to know what they needed. But she was sent by a specific NRK department whose purpose was to create educational content for kids and teens. Julie Andem herself commented on that when she made the announcement that she'd be doing Skam Austin: she didn't come up with the Skam characters all by herself. There were discussions on which demographics in Norway they wanted to target and represent. If Skam entertained and educated people outside of Norway, that was all well and good, but their primary goal was to reach teenage girl demographics in Norway who they had noticed needed help, and the characters were conceptualized, developed and cast based on those findings.

What I mean to say is that this was hardly an ego project on Julie's part (and in fact she wasn't paid for the sale of the rights to the 7 countries, that is the extent to which she had no ownership of the characters and stories). It's not like she could watch Hannibal or Empire or Mr. Robot or Orange is the New Black (just to name a few shows that were big when Skam was first developed) and be like, "Oh, I want my teenies to be serial killers or inmates or hackers or music artists in the next season, because I'm kinda bored of this educational shit and I want to deal with themes these other shows explore. And maybe add that to my resume!"

When a Skam showrunner is like, "eh, I don't want to comfort my audience, I want to be grimdark and mean and heart-wrenching for art's sake, to be like these other creators who get to do the fun stuff this educational show doesn't allow me to do," that is 100% an ego thing. It's putting their own priorities as creators above that of helping teenage girls, which was always the point of Skam. Fuck, that IS why it's called Skam. And that's when a Skam season inevitably goes wrong, when other concerns come into play. See: Yann abandoning Lucas on that bench (not ~Disneyland~), any Sana season (islamophobia plain and simple), Tiff's and Bilal's and Maya's seasons (art over audience) or Kato (making ca$h money through Kato's endorsements as an influencer).

These people woke up one day and were like, "I am soooo fucking bored of Mr. Rogers being so wholesome. Why don't we write a divorce storyline where his wife cheats on him and he turns to pills????? I saw that on Breaking Bad!"

evak: it’s a nice and beautiful song. the soft piano gives the pool scene a nice and cozy vibe, and it’s the original so it’s obviously the best. 7/10, never fails to disappoint. the thing i absolutely adore about this scene is the little girl at the end. she just looks at them with such a face and then yells: MAMMAAAAAAA. the original is always the best so ignore the 7/10 i gave the song.

croana: BITCH FUCK YES OMG I LOVE IT HURRICANES BY DIDO YES YES YES ITS ENGRAINED IN MY BRIAN. LET ME FACE... HURRICANES. AHHH OMG TOO ICONIC I LOVE IT YES YES YES. 1000038404743/10. martinico: i like the way the song sounds. i know there’s no words, but it’s a very nice song. it fits the scene very well. props to both martino and niccolo for kissing very DEEP in the water. like it looked like they were deep in omg. 6/10

elu: okay so. it’s my second favorite evak pool scene song. last dance by scratch massive is amazing and i would totally have that song in my own remake. i’m giving the song a 9/10, it fits the scene and it’s passion very well. LIKE LOOK AT THE WAY LUCAS SHOWS HIS PASSION IN THE KISS, THESE TWO ARE GOING AT IT. AMAZING. i also love how skam france decided to avoid the pool and go for a rainy kiss. i absolutely would love to have that. overall, the clip and song are very iconic to me and was the first evak “pool scene” i saw, back when i didn’t know what the hell skam was.

Have you seen wtfock s4 (&s5)? That right there sunk that remake to an unbeatably low standard. It was in hell with that one. I don't think druck can match such low vibrations, even with current piss poor writing. anon you obviously have never been to my blog, i was literally a wtfock stan so yeah i watched s4 and 5 and hated most of both. that being said i would argue that cactus and tiff’s season were just about matched in terms of shittiness. cactus was a racist and tiff was a bully that literally told lola to kill herself like neither of them deserved redemption. like to me france and wtfock are on the same level of shittiness with skam france sitting a little bit higher and i personally think that druck giving mailin s8 would knock them down to that level and allow me to explain why.

s5 and s6 of druck will always hold a special place in my heart because the writing was incredible and i related to both nora and fatou at plenty of points. i also think they dealt with really difficult topics in a really good way. that being said, it’s not like druck was perfect before this. the way they handled david’s outing and the way they took three episodes from amira’s season are some of the main issues that come to mind. even excluding that, though, going with a mailin season after s5 and 6, as well as isi’s season would be a fucking horrible idea, especially because my guess is that s8 will be the last season. if mailin gets that season, it’s likely that ava won’t get a season at all, and not giving her a season at all is far worse than simply putting her literal bully’s season first.

ava has literally been put through hell and back, not only with the fact that isi and constantin bullied her to the point of leaving the continent, but in s5 and s6 as well. she has been used as a plot device and an antagonist of sorts in all of the new gen seasons so far, and to do that combined with the fact that they listen to fans and so many have constantly been shitting on her despite her having perfectly reasonable reactions and boundaries after the shit she’s dealt with means she at the very LEAST deserves to have her moment to shine and get to be the main focus.

and i’m sorry, but if druck gives s8 to mailin instead, ESPECIALLY after all the microaggressions she’s thrown at ava, i will be far more disappointed with druck than i was with wtfock s5 or with anything skam france has done, because with those two i expected it. for me personally, a show that has the potential to do better and then actively decides against it will always be more upsetting and shitty than shows that have shown on multiple occasions that they’re already there.

Basile has been the only OG France character that has been in all the new gen seasons so is he meant to have broken up with Daphne or do we just never see her?

So I always felt after the episode on the farm that it was clear that basile and daphne would eventually break up. He loved her a lot but eventually the whole fact that they wanted entirely different things out of life would surface to the top. Basile has a wonderful heart but I never thought daphne was the one for him and I think deep down they both know it. I sorta felt like in my head they have broken up or things aren’t going well. I think in canon right now is daphne even in Paris? Or am I making it up that she went somewhere. I may be wrong I watch to much skam and maybe am applying Kiki’s plot to daphne.
