[Image description: uncolored, shaded digital art of Taako from The Adventure Zone. He's a chubby elf with freckled, medium-dark skin, and wavy white hair with dark roots.
The first image shows him in a Sizzle it Up apron, with a short haircut and slight sideburns. In one drawing, he's looking at the viewer out of the corner of his eye and saying: "Like, they already made the shirts, my dude. I dunno what to tell you —"
There's a smaller drawing of him on the side, with more chibi proportions. He's smiling and waving a hand as he says: "lmfao".
The second image is labeled as being Bureau era, and depicts Taako with longer hair. One drawing shows him in in a BOB crop top and pants with a starry pattern, seated and sticking out his tongue at the viewer with his eyes closed. His stomach and arms have scars.
To the side is a drawing of his wizard hat, and then one of Taako wearing the hat, as well as carrying the Umbra Staff. He's saying: "Taako's good out here". End description.]

Now THAT is a fic I’d love to read. Sizzle it Up-era Taako somehow keeps running into Alive Barry and murders him on sight every time, and he doesn’t know why but he knows he’s supposed to kill this man, but for some reason he keeps showing up again.
i spend an unreasonable amount of time thinking about taako killing barry when lucretia was feeding their memories to the voidfish. like, taako had forgotten lup. he didnt know who that was, he didnt know who they were looking for. they were losing their memories rapidly and taako couldnt remember anything. all he had left was this primal instinct, or rather knowledge, that if he didnt kill the man in front of him right now there was something important that was gonna be forgotten forever. he couldnt remember who or what it was, but he could still feel it, he could still feel the feeling of the world crumbling if this thing was forgotten forever. the man had asked him "what if she's just gone?" and he didnt know who he was talking about but he knew that someone needed to remember who she was.

So for the past month or so? I’ve been trying to get my Taako outfit concepts down. Here’s the ones I have from all the main arcs, as well as some sweet bonus content.

Aftermath liner notes
I’m stealing an idea from @anonymousalchemist and writing down a few thoughts of what I’ve put into my Aftermath stories.
This is long, and I have no idea if anyone gives a damn, so: below the cut...
First of all, I was operating off of the assumption that there was at least a little bit of staff thrall going on, especially in the run-up to the finale. Sounds like that’s probably not true, but I’m not going to go back and edit.
I also decided to run with the headcanon of Angus as Baby!Magcretia because it gave some interesting narrative tension, and because the role of Angus as everybody’s kid is itself interesting to me. Another idea that I’d written earlier that comes back a little bit is Taako having had a drug problem during the Sizzle It Up days. A little silly thing that I’ve seen in various fic that worked for plot reasons is the idea that Kravitz is Bad at Time. And quite a few people have written or drawn the idea of Lucretia checking up on her friends; I referenced my own for Merle & Taako.
Ships that are important to the stories, but maybe not addressed head-on: IPRE-era Taagnus; pre-BoB Maureen/Lucretia, Davenchurch in both the IPRE days and in the aftermath. (Obviously there’s Magcretia, because it’s me.)
And because I am fueled by thoughts about Lucretia, I thought a lot about how each of the Starblaster crew has resolved their feelings towards her. In order of forgiveness:
Merle: the avatar of radical acceptance. He forgives her because that is fundamentally his nature.
Magnus: he was mad at her because Taako was. He forgave her because he loved her, and because he sees her intentions. (In canon, it’s like what, a few hours at most between when he literally pulls a giant flaming sword on her and when he is the first to give her a hug?)
Lup: forgives, but with an edge, I think. “I’ve forgotten the whole thing” definitely has a bit of snark, intentional or not. (I still would like to write an Aftermath Lup/Lucretia story, but I haven’t yet found an angle. If I get to it, there will be a background of Lupcretia having been a thing for sure.) Given what Lup did, there’s a bit of “but for the grace of God” thing going on, realizing Bad Choices all around.
Barry: doesn’t forgive, exactly, but accepts, because what’s the point? I feel like Barry is a guy who doesn’t ever carry a grudge. The only non-extra member of the Starblaster crew? Maybe.
Taako: too extra to not carry a grudge. Sometimes wants to forgive, sometimes forgives despite himself. But don’t get him started. (Writing bitchy Taako dialogue in Poker Night was weirdly cathartic. Writing him in Dinner & Conversation felt like peeling off my own skin.)
Davenport: let’s not forget that “wrath” was the sin he faced judgement for. In my stories; he’s pretty much horrified that anyone else talks to her, and only puts up with it because he loves Merle. The sense of betrayal is just too much for him. (interesting, now that I look back at it, that the two opposites, Merle & Davenport, are also a pair in these stories.)
I feel like what I’m exploring here is the question of forgiveness and of putting back together relationships that had been fundamentally broken.
Merle, Magnus, and Taako all tell Lucretia some variation of “nope” as she tries to apologize for probably the thirty-seventh time, but I mean different things by it. From Merle is means that she doesn’t need to apologize, and from Taako that she doesn’t get to. (Angus also tells her to cut it out, in what felt like a bit of the child becoming the parent.) In all of that, it’s the issue of what it means to move on, to absorb the fact that you did a shitty thing and you can’t undo it.
(I told a very old friend recently that I’m still super-surprised she forgave me for something that I did to her like 20 years ago, that I was thinking of it because of all this Lucretia business.)
Plus, dang it, these interactions and character voices just stick in my head. I dunno.

some fuckin exposition
“Taako, she struggled to find you a place to fit in, because- what home is good enough for Taako? The answer was: there isn’t one.”
the idea for a cooking show didn’t come to Lucretia immediately. it takes her weeks to find a new life appropriate for Taako after she had altered his memories. Taako spends that short time as homeless as he ever was before the IPRE.
but now he feels so lonely. and he doesn't know why.
Taako has no idea that he spent the last 100 years trying to stop the Hunger. he has no idea he ever had a sister or a family. as far as he knows, the theatre troupe he was traveling with left him behind while he was out late one night.
in the next week or so, Taako will be approached by a mysterious stranger offering him a stagecoach and a show. a new era for Taako is about to begin. and as far as he knows, it’s the best life he’ll ever have.
but we all know what’s really going to happen to Sizzle It Up with Taako.
