Sniv fic stuff
A short scene with some Snively and Robotnik banter. Snively and Naugus are still ‘working together’ so it’s prior to Naugus taking over for himself.
Tumblr media
When Snively entered the kitchen, he stopped up short, thinking a Mobian had somehow infiltrated.
But no, he'd never seen a Mobian with such tacky fashion sense.
He chortled as he took a seat at the massive galley table. His Securitybot took position at the wall behind him. The large duck, dressed in Robotnik reds, glared at him over a steaming cup of coffee.
"I see Naugus still enjoys his little tricks." He continued to giggle until the Kitchenbot set a plate of donuts before his feathery kin. The robot turned to him.
"Lord Snively, what would you like?"
"Lord Snively?" The duck quacked. He picked up a donut and gummed it with his beak.
"A cappuccino with whipped cream and chocolate syrup. Three eggs and bacon. Oh, and a blancberry muffin."
The duck continued to gum the donut. Snively twitched his lip. "You're putting me off my breakfast." He propped his head in his hand. "I don't know why he even wants you out of the cell."
Roducknik dropped the donut. "Because 'Master' is doing what he wants, and you're just letting him. Because you have no choice. You let him gain his strength back!" An involuntary quack punctuated his last word.
"I'm not afraid of that fucking codger." Snively's eyes brightened as his cappuccino and muffin were brought out.
His uncle used one hand to pick small pieces from the donut. The rubbery beak seemed to sneer. "You may feel your testicles have grown in size, Snively, but I assure you they are the same."
Snively slurped at his cappuccino, licked the cream from his upper lip. "Strong words from a duck."
"Your brief stint of power has made you even more of a foolish twit than you've ever been!"
"Brief stint," Snively sneered. "I'm the one who's held this place together all these years. You're just a fat figurehead."
The duck snatched up his coffee cup, but his efforts were a messy failure. Coffee leaked from the sides of his beak, fountaining down onto his red garb. Snively let out a shriek of laughter.
That was the last ruffle of the feathers. The duck lunged at him around the table.
"Securitybot!"
Robotnik skidded to a stop as he stared down the oversized barrel of the Securitybot's laser cannon.
"Why don't you take a seat?" Snively smirked. "Or I'll roast you and serve you up to Naugus on a platter."
Robotnik took a step back, and as he did, his head reverted to normal. "Ah," he gasped, feeling his face. "It finally wore off." He returned to his seat, snatching up a donut.
"Now I'm really put off my food." Snively was lying though. His mouth watered as his eggs and bacon were brought out.
Robotnik smashed a donut into his maw, giving Securitybot 002 the evil eye. "What did you call those monstrosities?"
"Securitybots."
"They look familiar. Like your blueprints I disapproved of a few years back."
Snively nodded. "You disapproved of most of them."
"Look at that clunker. It could never catch the hedgehog."
"Like the SWATbots could. But it doesn't matter. I've disabled the Priority One Hedgehog swill anyway."
Robotnik gaped. "Why would you do that?"
"Because it's stupid!" Snively crunched a piece of bacon. "I told you so many times that focusing solely on that hedgehog was a mistake."
"Oh please, Snively!" Robotnik roared. "He's the most dangerous one of them all! He's the one that ruined everything!"
A dark smirk crossed Snively's face. He ate his first egg. Already they were going cold. "Not quite. He's ruined it all for you. For me...he's actually done me a favor. Why, I think I'm the happiest I've been in a long time."
"You miserable little mutant. Your happiness won't last long. Soon Naugus will be changing you into the cockroach that you are."
Snively shook his head. "Unlike you, Naugus can be a team player."

That's it for now!

Role Reversal (Final Rose AU Snippet)
"You know,” Diana said. “I remember when I used to look up to you.”
Weiss scowled. “Don’t even start.”
“I was young and innocent then,” Diana continued blithely. “And very, very short. Now, however, I am decidedly less innocent and way less short.” Her lips twitched. “You’re decidedly less innocent too, but you’re still short.”
Weiss bonked Diana over the head with one petite fist. “Could you stop?”
Diana clutched at her head. “I think I’ve got brain damage. Call an ambulance.”
“You do have brain damage, you twit, and I am most certainly not calling an ambulance.” Weiss rolled over and tugged the blankets tighter. “Now, do the proper thing as serve as my heater.”
“Your wish is my command.” Diana obliged and wrapped her arms around Weiss, pulling the shorter woman closer. “But I have to ask... are you only with me for the awesome sex and my ability to function as a heater?”
Weiss couldn’t stop herself from smiling. “The awesome sex certainly doesn’t hurt, and you are a lot cuddlier than a normal heater.”
Diana chuckled. “Seriously, though, Weiss. I do look up to you.” She paused. “And not just because I can hold you over my head. The way you’ve dealt with your father disowning you has been very admirable.” She pressed her face into Weiss’s hair. “If it makes you feel any better, the moment Atlas doesn’t need him anymore, I’ve totally called dibs on organising an ‘accident’ for him.”
Weiss’s jaw dropped. “Please, tell me you’re joking.”
“I’m joking.” Diana paused. “But if you want...”
“Diana!” Weiss cried, scandalised. “I might not like him very much, but I don’t think I want him assassinated.”
“He wouldn’t be assassinated. He would simply meet an unfortunate accidental end that could in no way be traced back to me or you.”
“Even so.”
“Anyway,” Diana said. “Just be glad you’re not dating Claire.”
“Oh?”
“Because as much as I love my cousin, she would totally get you with height jokes too, and she’s even taller than I am.”
Weiss huffed. “I have no idea how she is so tall. It’s actually absurd.”
“Well, her dad is kind of a giant.”
“That might be true, but her mother is hardly a giant.”
“Maybe. But look at her siblings. They’re tall too. It’s clear that those Villiers height genes are mighty. In contrast, look at my Aunt Vanille and my Aunt Lumina’s kids. They’re all pretty tiny.”
“They are not tiny.”
“Are you only saying that because you’re basically the same size.”
“No... maybe.”
“If it’s any consolation,” Diana said. “If we have kids, at least one of them will be tall.”
“Just one?’
“Well, the one that takes after me is going to be pretty much the same size. I mean, I’m basically a copy of my mom when it comes to height and general appearance, so I’m going to guess that whichever of our kids gets Ragnarok will be the same. I don’t know about any others, though.” Diana snickered. “They might just end up tiny too. But that’s okay.” She tightened her hold on Weiss. “I like to think of you as cuddle sized.”
“I’m not sure whether to be pleased or offended by that.”
“You can be both.” Diana smiled. “Also, I’m going to have to tell my family about this soon. I’m fairly confident they probably already know, but they’re just giving us some time to work out how we want to address it.”
“That won’t be too bad, will it? I’m under the impression they like me.”
“They do like you,” Diana said. “Quite a lot, actually.”
“That’s a relief.”
“But they’re still going to challenge you to a fight.”
“...” Weiss’s eye twitched. “Are you serious?”
“Yep.” Diana nodded. “Taren will probably go first out of general principle, and I’m Fury will want to join in too because he’s a jerk like that. Then you’ve got Averia to deal with.”
“...”
“And after Averia, my parents will want to give it a try too."
“I’m going to die,” Weiss muttered. “Your brother is no slouch, and neither is that giant chocobo of his. But your sister and parents? In what universe do I fight them and not die?”
“They won’t actually kill you,” Diana said soothingly. “Maybe just mangle you a little bit.”
“Even a little bit of mangling is too much! I’m not like you. I can’t just regrow an arm if it gets blown off!”
“In fairness, if you’re fighting my sister, it’s more like the arm will get disintegrated or unmade, not blown off.”
“That is not at all reassuring.”
“Relax.” Diana snickered. “We’ll work something out, and they won’t go too far.”
“I should hope not.”
“Anyway, we should get some sleep.”
“You don’t need to sleep.”
“I don’t, but it’s kind of fun.” Diana grinned. “Besides, would you rather I stay awake the whole night and watch you sleep?”
“That would be creepy.”
“Exactly.”

Little Red Riot  (Part One)
Once upon a time, there lived a handsome young man who lived in the local village with his friends. He was known by the name Little Red Riot due to how he dyed his natural black hair red and to make it look more manly-- however, among his peers, he was known by the name Eijiro Kirishima.
Kirishima was the kind of person who often gets in trouble because of how his curiosity would always get the best of him that was partnered along with the jeering of his good friends Denki Kaminari and Hanta Sero who are always up to no good around the village.
But that never stopped our red-haired protagonist to be considered as a good kid by most people in the village. Often times when he is not with his friends, he was busy helping out the people at the village.
"Kirishima-kun," Kirishima turned his head towards the voice that called him and saw one of the familiar faces at the village-- the brunette Ochako Uraraka.
"Oh, Uraraka, good morning," Kirishima greeted with a smile. "Where are you off to?"
"Out to the forest to visit the Midoriya's," Uraraka answered with a smile. "It has been weeks since I last saw Deku-kun so I figured I'd drop by and catch up with him,"
The Midoriya's were composed of Inko Midoriya and her only son Izuku whom Kirishima knew since childhood. They lived at the deepest part of the forest apart from the village for as long as the redhead could remember-- the reason was something disclosed only to the Midoriya's and to the chief-of-police.
"Be careful on your way there then," Kirishima said with a smile.
"Stop right there," a new voice entered the conversation and both teens looked at the dark-haired Tenya Iida.
Iida is the youngest of the village's chief-of-police and is aspiring to be the next one after his brother suffered a terrible accident that disabled the use of his legs. He is known to follow the rules of the village just as it was stated and would often be seen running around the area to keep the village and the residents of it in decorum.
"You can't go to the forest, not when there have been rumors of a werewolf attack within the secluded places of those trees," Iida said, surprising the both Uraraka and Kirishima as well as the other villagers who were near enough to overhear them.
"A werewolf attack?"
"Where?"
"I did hear the news, but I didn't confirm it,"
"Who was attacked?"
"Are we going to be safe?"
"Are they hunting the creature down?"
"What's going to happen now?"
Murmurs of worry and fear surrounded the three teens that only stopped when Iida held up his hand and assured them that his father's squad is already investigating the said attack.
"It would be best to always be alert and to try and refrain from traveling deep within the forest-- especially if it's not really that needed," Iida explained before he turned back to Uraraka. "I suggest that you postpone your trip to Midoriya's house as well, Uraraka,"
Kirishima saw the worry in Uraraka's eyes-- she was closest to Izuku more than anyone else in the village so it was normal to see her worry for her friend.
"Don't worry, Uraraka," Kirishima said with a smile as he put his hand over her shoulder for comfort and assurance. "I'm sure that they would be fine and would be safe,"
"I really hope so," Uraraka mumbled worriedly.
"My father will be sending out men tomorrow to check them," Iida said, "My father and Inko-san were good friends back then so I'm sure he would want to make sure that his friend is safe, just as you hope Izuku would be,"
Uraraka's worried expression turned into relief upon hearing what Iida said. "That's good to hear then,"
"Looks like we don't need to worry about anything anymore," Kirishima grinned.
"Do you think a few villagers could volunteer in searching for the beast?" Kirishima turned his attention to the person who spoke and saw one of his two best friends joining in the conversation with a deviant glint in his eyes.
Blonde Kaminari Denki had a talent of always getting in trouble-- a talent that he, Kirishima, and black-haired Sero Hanta shared.
"I'm not sure that's a safe option," Iida said, scratching his chin as he was lost in thought-- failing to see the knowing and playful looks the three friends shared with each other with one thing running in their minds.
They were going to join the search for the beast because they saw it as a fun thing to do.
***
"Are you seriously hearing yourselves?"
Onyx pair of eyes glared down at them that belonged Kyouka Jiro, Kaminari's girlfriend, as she scolded the terrible trio upon overhearing their conversation about joining the search.
"What? It would be fun!" Kaminari grinned at his girlfriend who shook her head in disapproval.
"How is going to the forest and hunt the werewolf a fun thing to do, Denki?" Jiro scolded. "I swear to god, I can see the three of you dying and you'd still smile as if it taking your last breath was just some game,"
"We're going to be careful," Sero said.
"The moment that stupid idea popped in your head is the moment you stopped being careful!" Jiro argued. "Did you not hear what Iida said? Going out to the forest is extremely dangerous!"
"He said that it'd be dangerous if one goes alone," Kaminari gave out a mischievous grin to his girlfriend. "There's three of us and a whole battalion of the chief's team,"
Jiro looked like she wanted to smack the living daylights out of Kaminari and Kirishima found it entertaining.
"Oh come on, Jiro! You're looking at three of the strongest guys in the village, I promise we'd be careful and if we don't find anything before the sun sets we're going back," Kaminari said, "How's that?"
Jiro rolled her eyes. "You better come back or I'll be the one killing you instead of that wolf,"
The three misfits shared smiles as they started talking about preparing for their trip to the forest.
***
He should've listened to Jiro.
That was what ran through the redhead's mind as he crept through the forest-- eyes scanning his surroundings cautiously, ears perked up to attention, his mind and body trained to aim at the next thing that would make a sound.
It had just been fun and games to him and his friends as they investigated through the forest, sharing a few laughs and jokes-- playfully yelling out "Come out, Mr. Werewolf!"
When a blur of ash-blonde charged at them in the middle of them horsing around. He, Kaminari, and Sero were taken by surprise and was too late to react when it attacked.
Kirishima didn't know what happened next before he passed out when he got slammed hard into a tree-- faintly hearing his friends' calls and swearing he saw bright red eyes that met his dazed crimson ones before he finally let the darkness take over.
When he woke up, it was already sunset and he was all alone in the forest-- having no idea what happened and where he is now.
He should've listened to Jiro.
That was what went through Kirishima's head when he heard a faint snap of a twit nearby-- his body lurching to face the source of the noise as he aimed his gun blindly in the dark.
His heart hammered against his chest as his senses shut down one by one-- focusing only on one particular spot where he aimed his gun; finger ready to pull the trigger the moment something comes in his line of vision. His body, however, had something different in mind as it slightly trembled-- Kirishima forced himself to believe that it was all from the adrenaline rush he's been experiencing and not from the mere fact that his heart was about to jump out of his chest.
Kaminari wasn't lying when he said that the three of them were one of the strongest men in the village, but the strongest doesn't always mean the bravest.
Sure, Kirishima never backed out of a challenge before-- whether it be a petty one like jumping off of a three-story hut at the pub and land gracefully on the cart of hay below or a serious one like hunting werewolves despite the lack of fighting skills and with required to do the task properly.
But this was beyond Kirishima's imagination-- his life and safety were at stake and if the beast finds him, he would definitely make a great midnight snack.
He should've listened to Jiro.
Was all Kirishima could think of as his eyes saw a silhouette of an unknown creature move-- making his body tense up so much that it went rigid when the creature finally came out from the shadows of the thick trees surrounding them and step into the faint light the full moon gave.
He should've listened to Jiro.
The redhead thought over and over as a wolf the size of a carriage with ash-blonde fur and red menacing eyes glared up at him-- hackles raised in caution that eyed Kirishima and his weapon.
He should've listened to Jiro.
That was what Kirishima's thought as a sudden movement and a faint "Don't shoot!" called before warm sea-green eyes met Kirishima's scared crimson ones.
He should've listened to Jiro.
Was all he could say when he-- by mere instinct and surprise-- pulled the trigger towards the familiar boy that stood between him and the vile creature.
"KACCHAN!"
One familiar voice snapped all of Kirishima's senses and brought him back to reality as shocked crimson eyes looked down at the figure that lay weakly beneath him.
Gone was the ash-blonde fur along with the beast that owned it. But what replaced it had Kirishima's cogs stop working as a boy who was just the same age as he stood-- back turned towards the redhead-- as blood oozed from his left arm; the part of his body that had been nicked by Kirishima's bullet when the boy pulled the trigger.
He should've listened to Jiro.
Was the last thing Kirishima had in mind before the adrenaline finally left his body along with his consciousness.
***
The smell of mushroom soup was what roused Kirishima from his slumber as his eyes slowly fluttered open and saw himself inside an unfamiliar room at an unfamiliar hut.
Kirishima tried to think back about what had happened before he passed out, at the same time, wondering where he was when the door lightly swung open and Midoriya came to view.
The greenhead smiled at him kindly. "Glad to see you're up and awake," he said as he walked towards Kirishima and placed the tray of food down the bistro table inside the room.
"M-Midoriya? Where am I?" Kirishima asked as he slowly stood up.
"In my room," the greenhead answered.
"What happ--" Kirishima cut himself off as his memories started reappearing before his vision one by one; making his crimson eyes grow wide-- the shock and realization evident in his face.
"Oi, you damn nerd, is breakfast ready? Me and the half-and-half bastard are hungry!" A deep voice called before a boy barged inside the room, ignoring Midoriya's protest to stop.
Once again, bright red eyes met crimson ones as the boy Kirishima saw last night appeared.
"It's about time you woke up," the boy grumbled before he turned his attention towards the greenhead who was trying everything he can to push him out of the room. "Damned Deku! I ain't leaving without breakfast! Or do you want me to devour that little red-haired friend of yours to make up for him shooting me last night?"
"It was an accident, I tell you!" Midoriya argued. "Anyone would freak out with a wolf the size of a hut appear before them in the dark forest,"
"Idiot! A hut is too big compared to my size," the blonde countered. "Are you trying to say that I'm fat?!"
The bickering of the two boys abruptly stopped when Kirishima spoke-- his faint voice catching their attention.
"Y-you... You're a werewolf!"
The blonde snickered. "No shit, you only figured that out now?"
"Kacchan! Language!"

the beginning
summary: on your anniversary, you remember how you met Johnny.
words: +1,9k
tags: fluffy
Tumblr media
It all started a few years ago, in 2017, when you were doing a part-time job in the SBS radio as the script writer and semi-producer for a new show that was going to take place in march. The only thing that they told you about it was that it was going to be host by two newly debuted idols from a very famous company, a new that made you very excited. A few weeks later a meeting with both of them took place but you had a final exam at uni and you couldn´t attend, which made you a lot more nervous since you still didn’t knew who the idols were, because that information was confidential. The first show came sooner than expected, and as a part of the team you were finally going to met the idols. While you were waiting for them to arrive one of your girl coworkers came to you.
“y/n you can’t imagine how handsome they are” she said, almost screaming “you’re going to die when you see them” you laughed but since you were a little picky you choosed to not take her words too serious. But, oh lord, how wrong you were.
Two tall men came through the door, a blond and a brunette one. You weren’t stupid and you didn’t lived under a rock, but you were distracted enough to not notice the name of the show, which gave away completely the name of the group. A very young Jaehyun and Johnny stood in front of you and introduced themselves to the team.  Jaehyun was pretty, he was a very beautiful man, his kind eyes and his dimples were to die for, but Johnny, he was a different story. He wasn’t just pretty, his particular features left you breathless at first sight, and his aura was captivating and it made your knees weak. You felt embarrassed, he was an idol yes, but first of all he was your new coworker, and you weren’t a teenager anymore.
After all of the formalities the tallest, Johnny, came to you and started to ask a lot of technical stuff and you did your best to explain but damn, you were blown away. His eyes were a beautiful shade of honey and he never cut the visual contact which made you a lot more nervous and flustered. His voice was deep and assertive, it really looked like he knew what he was talking about, it even seemed like he knew more than you. He called his friend and you explained both some things about the script and when the time came they started the show. You were surprise this was their first time, they looked nervous but at the same time they were eloquent and funny. You tried your best to pay attention to your work, because that’s what they were paying you for, not to look at Johnny. But damn, it was hard.
A week passed and the only thing that you did was waiting for the night to see him. You were going mad. He was just a man. An idol, a very handsome and cute, and funny, and kind man, but at the end he was just a man. You realized you were completely fucked up when you started to watch his fancams. I mean, he was famous, talented, successful, and you were a very average looking exchange student who every month struggled with paying the bills. You mentalized yourself, that night you were going to do your work and nothing else, but he made it difficult though, every night before starting he used to talk to you about whatever was on his mind. But this time you were going to stay strong and tell him you had to be focused on your work.
Everything was going fine at first, but Johnny wasn’t going to let you live in peace. Actually, he was going to change your whole life with a single question.
“y/n would you like to take a coffee with me after tonight’s show?” your whole brain shut down. The only thing you could do was to blurt “yes, yes, sure, I would like that a lot” Great, you sounded like a fucking asshole, and a very, very desperate one, congratulations.
You were nervous like you’ve never been in your life. And confused, was this a date? A simple coffee? What did he wanted to talk about? About the radio? Jesus, you haven’t had a date in years. Time passed surprisingly fast for your liking and soon you found yourself on the cafeteria of the building having a decaffeinated cappuccino and listening to him talk about NCT 127 promotions. You weren’t sure if it you passed out from the stress and it was all a dream or if you actually had Johnny Suh talking to you about his day and laughing at your dad jokes.
Soon it became a routine, every night after the show you both went to the cafeteria and talked until late about your childhood, your dreams, your fears, until you had to leave to go to sleep so you didn’t die at uni next morning. Talking to him was effortless, it was like you knew him all your life, he was even better than what you thought, so full of love to give, smart, thoughtful, trustable, caring, so you weren’t surprised when you realized you were in love.  It happened after a little hiatus the program took for a show they had overseas, and when you saw him again for the first time it hit you. He came almost running to you and hugged you tight in front of all the team “I missed you a lot” he said, muffled by your hair. You found yourself breathless once again and mumbled a tiny “me too”. And just like that the realization came: you were deeply and madly in love with Johnny Suh and you wanted him to hold you like that for the rest of your life. You both let go the hug and everybody went back to work, except for you two. “a little bird told me your birthday is in a few days so, I was wondering if instead of a coffee you would like to have dinner with me” you were shooked, if the coffee dates weren’t actually a date, this was. And for your birthday! You were exploding with happiness.
That night also was when the first kiss happened. While the program was going on and Jaehyun was reading some twits from the fans, you and Johnny locked eyes. And it felt different, it wasn’t a simple visual contact, it was filled with a tension of some kind, you could feel it from across the glass and you were sure he was feeling the same too. He went on with the script but he never stopped looking at you and it was getting very intense and it only stopped when it was time for the commercials. Eventually the show ended and like every night you both headed to the elevator to go to the cafeteria floor. Normally being on the elevator with him felt overwhelming but to a normal amount. That time he didn’t even gave you time to feel nervous, as soon as the door closed he roughly leaned his whole body against yours until your back touched the wall, looking at you in the eyes, like if he was asking for your permission, you pushed him down by the nape and connected your lips to his. It was the most intense kiss you ever had, it conveyed so much passion, weeks of holding back now were being unleashed in a single kiss. His lips were heaven and hell, so dangerous but so necessary, like a drug. His hands were all over you and yours were tugging at his perfectly styled hair, now messy. You were forced to stop when the elevator reached its destiny and the door opened but your legs weren’t responding and him didn’t moved either, so you stayed for a few seconds looking at each other, breathing heavily, until you both started laughing and finally came out.
The new routine was making out in every corner of the building everytime you were alone and then go to drink coffee and chat like nothing happened. Like if you weren’t a mess, and like if he hadn’t had to hide a boner everytime. It was surreal.
Since the radio program ended after twelve o’clock you celebrated your birthday along with your coworkers, and when the show ended you went to change your clothes while Johnny waited for you in the hall, downstairs. You wore a red dress and only a red lipstick since you wanted to look good quickly, and let your hair down. When you finally met you noticed he changed his outfit for a more elegant one: black shirt and black pants. You both flustered when you saw each other “you look amazing birthday girl” he flirted with you. “you don’t look that bad yourself JonhD” you said back. “JonhD?”, he asked confused “yes, you know…your name is John and you are a dj” he laughed out loud at your explanation while he helped you to get on the company van. Soon you arrived to a private restaurant, that giving the hour it was supposed to be closed but SM has its ways.
In the middle of it was a table settled for two and Johnny helped pulling your chair like a gentleman. The conversation went very fluid during all the dinner until the champagne arrived. He stopped talking and stared at your eyes, and you realized they got teary so yours did too. He swallowed and spoke “y/n this might sound a little rushed, giving the fact that we only knew eachother two months ago and all that but” he made a pause to breath and you did too “I think I’m in love with you and, I’ll really love to be your boyfriend” a tear fell from his eye. “i know it might be hard because of my work and the fans but I really want you to be my girl” he started to get nervous since you weren’t answering “I fully understand if you don’t want to though”. You couldn’t bring yourself to believe it, but it was real. He was in front of you, looking at your eyes and saying that he loved you. You were paralyzed and the lump in your throat wouldn’t let you speak, but you ignored it and answered.
“John Suh, nothing in this world could make me more happy right now than call you my boyfriend” you grabbed him by his hands and smiled at him “I love you, I truly do”. He left out all the air he was holding and smiled too “thanks god, I though I was going to have to return your gift” he took out of his blazers pocket a medium sized velvet box and handed it to you. “oh Johnny, you shouldn't have brought me anything” he shushed you and looked at you expectantly. Without wasting any more time you opened it and inside of it was a beautiful and delicate heart necklace with both initials and your birthday date, which now was also your anniversary. Needless to say you were speechless.
Even after a year and with him taking a nap in your lap it all still felt like a dream, Johnny declaring himself to you, and now he being your first love and first boyfriend. You gently stroked his hair with one hand at the same time you were playing with your necklace, after a few minutes he slowly woke up and looked at you “nice double chin, baby” he murmured. “I can’t believe that the first thing you do after waking up is making fun of me” he laughed and you lowered your head to kiss him “happy first anniversary headass”.

Let’s all go to (baby)jail! (Miraculous ladybug and cat noir)
Nathaniel Kurtzberg yawn loudly and rubbed a eye as he finished cleaning up the main playroom. at age 16 the two time akuma villain had struggled to find then lucked into a job that would help pay for his art supplies over the summer break. at first he'd been thrilled but the truth of the matter was, while playing with the kids that came to rainbow cloud Daycare was fun, and they all loved his sketches he made for them, at the end of the day he was normally too damn tired to do any art for himself. Not helping things was the fact he was suppose to be on the afternoon shift, but one of the other workers had called in sick and as low man on totem pole, Nate got to fill the morning shift and would still have to do his afternoon shift. 'and the stupid evening shift didn't clean up before leaving, again.' he thought glumly. the only other worker on was up in the office, taking in phone calls and the like, or at least that's what Johnson claimed. Nate had a feeling the chubby slob was really just watching YouTube videos on the office computer but since he was the boss's son, there was nothing he could really say or do. all and all it was looking like it was gonna be a shit day, but straitening up and dusting off the brown slacks and white shirt that was his uniform, Nate tried to force a smile on his face. 'no sense in taking out your bad mood on the little ones.' He reminded him, looking at the clock and noting it was almost opening time. there was a heavy knock on the front door and despite the place having a no early drop off rule, Nate wasn't shocked some upper class twit would be dragging their kid by already. shaking his head and making his way to the door he opened it and took a step back in semi concern as some sort of love child between a body builder and a gorilla was standing there, glaring. "Can..Can I help you?" Nate asked, a tremor in his voice though he thought the man looked almost..oddly..familiar. The mountain of muscles made a grunting noise and then held out a letter, which Nate took with shaking hands and glanced over it as the missing link walked towards a fancy black car, leaving Nate hoping that he wasn't leaving cracks in the pavement.
' To which ever wage lackey receives this, my son had been enrolled in your little day care as out of all of the daycare's in the city, this one has the most success with it's potty training. My son despite being older then normally allowed into your daycare and into your potty training program has been allowed due to the frankly massive amount of money i have paid to brush aside all concern's. he's to be treated like any other toddler who's failed to keep his pants clean and know that while i have high hopes this will pay off, no fault will be placed upon you as the boy is simply lazy, and i suspect is doing it just for fun. PS: Don't be scared to spank him if he acts up, he's old enough to know better.
Signed Gabriel Agreste. '
Nate raised a eyebrow as he finished reading, that last name, it could really be.. and then he looked up and grinned ear to ear as of all the people he could of expected to see being enrolled in the daycare's award winning potty class, it was Mr. supermodel himself, Adrien Agreste! The Blond boy was CLEARLY not happy as he was escorted out of the car, pouting and looking down at the ground and muttering something as he was handed a large light black diaper bag with 'Adrien's diaper bag' stitched on the side in white. he was dressed in Black velco sneakers and white socks and wearing a pair of light black shorts to match the shade of his diaper bag and as Nate looked, it was clear to see the shorts were puffed out by a bulky diaper. the diaper itself was over the top of the waistband and was a cream white, it had been visible when Adrien's white t-shirt rode up for a brief second. The shirt itself amusingly had text on the front that ID'ed Adrien as a crybaby brat and while Nate couldn't make out what Adrien was muttering about apparently the gorilla had had enough and gave the blond a firm swat on his padded bottom, making the blond cry out. The gorilla pointed towards Nate and Adrien looked like he wanted to complain, but wisely kept it to himself and carried the large diaper bag (which seemed to be so loaded with extra diapers and the like it took the blond using both arms to lug it) towards the door. '...Oh..today just got a WHOLE lot better.' Nate thought. "hi little guy, welcome to Rainbow Cloud. follow me instead and we'll get you alll set up." Nate said, even as Adrien gave a dirty look.
For Adrien, his hell had started in the last two weeks in school when in the span of 3 days he'd had 6 wetting accidents and woken up having messed the bed twice. Thankfully he'd been able to cover up the accidents so no one had noticed, but naturally his father had found out about him having changes of clothes brought to him, not to mention the bed messing had been impossible to hide. A trip over his fathers knee and 20 minutes with his nose in the corner, and Adrien had been warned NOT to let it happen again or steps would be taken. the blond picked up on the threat and had nodded, promising he'd take care of it and for a day and a half, and carefully controlling his fluid intake he'd been golden. it had been during a pep rally when disaster had struck, he'd been sipping at a soda in the crowd when a loud bit of pyro had gone off and the sudden boom, and the extra bit of fluid had resulted in his flooding his pants, though since they were out in the field the urine had thankfully gone into the ground. thinking quick before anyone noticed he 'accidentally' spilled his soda on himself, soaking his pants even more and joked about his butter fingers and got permission to go and change. His father hadn't been fooled for a second, and when his bodyguard can brought Adrien a change of pants, he'd also brought him a pair of puppy print pull-ups. Knowing better then to argue the part time hero had wore the pull ups, though he could see there was no way anyone could tell under his baggy tan pants, he'd been sure the world knew for the rest of the school day. Further disaster struck on the drive home after school, his father apparently had made it clear no after school fun even if it was Friday, as they got stuck in a traffic jam. trying to ease the sense of doom, and pretty sure he was going to get anther spanking when they got home, Adrien had been watching TV in the back and munching on some rainbow chip muffins he had stashed in a compartment back there, when the urge to go number two hit him like a ton of bricks. he'd been making use of diarrhea medicine to help keep his bed clean and actually hadn't gone number 2 in the day or so as a result, but apparently he'd pushed his luck. squirming and trying to soothe the cramps, he'd begged and pleaded for his body guard to either get them out of the traffic jam, or let him out of the car to use a bathroom, but the doors stayed locked and he'd of blown his secret identity if he had just turned into cat noir and forced his way out. (not to mention he wasn't sure if the pull up would stay hidden with Cat noire's much tighter clothing, and if he was gonna fail at going poopie on the potty it was somewhat better to do it in his civilian clothes, instead of his super suit) the belt and pants had been digging in and Adrien thought MAYBE if he took them off (the back windows were tinted after all so no one could look in) that might buy him the bit of extra time he'd need, and so in just his t-shirt and puppy pull-up, he ended up kneeling on the spacious floor of the back seat, leaning on the seat with his upper half and groaning and pounding a fist, trying desperately not to fudge his pull-up. For all of 20 seconds it felt like it might of worked, then they hit a pot hole, and well that was it. game over. The boy howled and cried as he made softball sized lumps in the back of his pull-up and a rotten stench had filled the back seat. Thankfully (or more accurately, amazingly) the Pull-up hadn't leaked then he was forced to stay in his kneeling position, so that he didn't smush his smelly load and risk leaking out all over the expensive seats. Thankful for the private parking they had, Adrien had been led inside quickly and no one had seen, but instead of being given a chance to clean up he was presented to his father who had wrinkled his nose in disgust. One LONG lecture later, he was allowed to shower, then was spanked and out on time out and put in double pull-ups. For the rest of the remaining school year Adrien could of counted the amount of times he actually made it to the bathroom on one hand. Pull-ups during the day, with him having a pack at the school, and diapers once he got home. thankfully Hawk moth had found something better to do during that week then making villains as Adrien had been put more or less under lock down. it wasn't that he didn't think he couldn't of snuck away from his body guard, but there was also the fact his pants had been taken away, and he was given a pair to wear to school, and any modeling gigs he had booked. rocking the diaper and shirt look around his house was one thing, but he pictured having to turn back after fighting a villain and being stranded in down town Paris in the thick white diaper his father preferred him in. Adrien had figured this was going to be his summer, under house arrest till he could get his bladder and bowels to fall in line but his father had other ideas. "Clearly you're not even making a effort to use the washroom, from what I've seen you just sit on your behind and play your little games while stinking up my house." his father had said. "well I'm not going to let you be a lazy little potty pants and make it so i have to come home to a house smelling like a diaper pail. I've enrolled you in a daycare that will help you get back your control." "But..But..Dad you can't! I can do this! I'll fi-" "I didn't ask for your opinion on it young man, I already took care of it. you'll be going every day, Monday to Saturday, and I expect you to do your best with their 3 week potty training program. You'll either shape up and prove what I've been saying, that your just lazy and been doing this for attention and stop in short order, and then can just stop going once you've proven you can be a 'big boy.' Or you'll prove what you've been saying and you really can't help it and you'll be potty trained..again. Hopefully it'll stick this time." Shopping for the supplies had been mortifying but today as Adrien looked at the face of a semi friend, it seemed like a delight compared to the day that laid ahead of him.
"So little guy, this is the main indoor play area, though we have a playground in the back." Nate said, clearly taking delight in following orders to the letter. "and over here is a area you'll be getting VERY familiar with, hopefully to great success." Adrien followed Nate's gaze and whined loudly, it was a wall lined with 5 training potties, and had a dry erase board above each one. they had tape on them to form a grid that displayed days and times, with room for someone to draw to write something in. "Your daddy must be very eager to get you potty trained, not just anyone gets the full experience.we only focus on 5 kids at a time but if your enrolled in it, your daddy must of paid top dollar." Nate said and then gave Adrien a pat on his padded rump, making the blond sulk even more. the diaper bag had been taken from him and was over by a changing table, so his hands were free at least but all that had meant was whenever they walked anywhere Nate had made Adrien hold his hand. "I will warn you that since your technically one over the limit, you'll be waiting in line to use any potty thats free. I'll be keeping track of your potty progress for you on a card you can take home and show your daddy, so give it your best ok champ?" "..Nate come on, you know I'm not one of these little to-" Adrien said, finally having enough and turning to give the smaller boy a piece of his mind. "Before you dig yourself a nice deep hole, You should know I have full permission to spank your butt if I need to.and we've been told to treat you just like any other little guy struggling to learn how to keep his pants free." Nate said quickly. "..Of course you have. My father is a fucking asshole." Adrien groaned, rolling his eyes then yelped as a hard swat when on his padded rump. "Bad boy! no swearing! Little boys who swear and cuss get their mouths washed out!" Nate said, shaking a finger at him. a mental image of himself with soap suds around his mouth and blowing bubbles popped into Adrien's head and he whimpered. "I.I'm sorry! I didn't know." he said quickly. "...I'll let it go THIS time, but next time, they're gonna be calling you bubble breath. got it mister?" Nate asked. Adrien swallowed his pride and nodded. "right, now going on with our little tour..give me your hand little guy..that's better. anyways, over here is our arts and crafts corner where we'll-" As Nate droned on Adrien whined and found himself oddly fighting the urge to suck his thumb.
Johnson came out and met with Adrien, chuckling lots. Adrien had felt a brief hope spot that maybe he'd be looking after him  but Johnson made it clear he wasn't the type to deal with dirty diapers, so he put Nate in charge of the big baby. As parents started to drop off their children Adrien found a place to try and hide for the most part, which while normally Nate would of raised a fuss and made sure he stayed where he could be seen, having one of Paris's top models in diapers and at a day care might of caused a few issues. It was easier to let him go and hide and the oldest kid being dropped off today aside from the ex model, now pamper packer, was a 5 year old so it was unlikely their parents would believe them or they'd recognize him. Still it didn't stop a few of the children from spotting him as he was hiding under one of the crib, twin brothers age 4 who peered under the crib having seen him. they were dressed in a blue t-shirt and green cover-all's for one, and a green t-shirt and blue cover-all's for the other, both sporting brown hair in mushroom cuts. "Um, Your not 'pose to be under there." blue shirt said, trying to keep his voice down low. "you'll get in trouble and lose your cookie at snack time." "Oh uh..well..I got permission from Nate so it's ok." Adrien said, which, technically was true. it wasn't like Nate didn't know where he was. "wait.." Green shirt said, furrowing his eye brows. "Your kinda..big ta be in here.. how old are you?" "oh uh.." Adrien paused, not wanting to say his real age, but needing to think of something to keep the kids from asking too many more questions. "I'm 9." he said. "hehehe ya don't hafa be shy if your hear and 9 silly. we hada this one um.. " blue shirt paused and looked to his brother for help, and green shirt leaned over and whispered in his ear. "10 year old who was here, and git this! he was here cuz he was a potty pants! me and Joshie were potty trained at -2- and this big kid wa-" "Gawy! you know you're not 'pose ta pick on big babies!" green shirt, or Joshie Adrien supposed, scolded his brother. "Aw come one, it was sooo funny! he kept going " and in place of saying it, Gary blew a raspberry. "in his diaper and bawling like a baby!" "heh.. it was pretty funny." Joshie admitted. "O-Oh yeah.. ehehe..that does sound funny." Adrien said weakly, now really hoping the boys would leave, or at least praying they wouldn't notice his bulky diaper butt. "why dun you come out and we can go and play toys. ya needa hit the toy chest fast if you wanna git a good toy." Joshie said, with Gary nodding and stoking his chin as if his twin had given sage like advice. Adrien chuckled at how cute the boys where being and seeing how the parents were starting to leave he started to crawl out sadly for our hero, the back of his diapers, just under the waistline, but on the seam, caught on a nail. So eager was Adrien to get out and show off (and maybe make this stay SOMEWHAT bearable)  that he didn't notice. Had he but noticed, he might of been able to get away with just a hole in the shorts but atlas, at the high speed he was scooting out the shorts gave way to the nail like a hot knife though butter. Gary and josh both paused as they  heard the ripping noise, and Adrien was blushing bad as he stood up, his hands going behind his back, feeling the slick plastic of his diaper and frantically trying to get the two sides of the massive rip together. "You uh, heh..you OK?" Gary asked, giggling a little. "Did you rip your shorts or was that like a BIG fart?" Josh asked, already holding his nose just in case. "I uh..we;ll." Adrien was very shy and found himself realizing just how much he hadn't appreciated the shorts being in tack. "He totally ripped his shorts. dun worry big kid! I got ya!" Gary said then cupping a hand to his mouth he shouted. "NATTTTE! DA NEW KID RIPPED HIS SHORTS!" Gary hollered, then gave Adrien a thumbs up. "...Oh this isn't going to end well." Adrien muttered.
End part one.

The Newest Specimen
Summary: Virgil and Logan are monster hunters. One day, Virgil brings in the tiny dramatic vampire he found in his home.
October prompt #24: Blood.
Check out more of my writing at @hiddendreamerwriting!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Virgil ran into the base, an hour later than normal. He was panting, a box precariously balanced in his arms. The box continued to rattle, its contents clearly displeased with its new enclosure.
“You’re late.” Logan noted.
“And you’re annoying.” Virgil huffed. “Our new friend was not so excited about the idea of going out in the daylight.”
“I’m not your friend.” The box growled.
“Well, I’ll be your friend.” Virgil quipped, still catching his breath as he set the box down onto the table. “Just ignore the fact that I broke your leg. I mean, what are friends for, right?”
“You did what?” Logan whispered, a slightly horrified expression crossing his features at the idea of a specimen being so carelessly injured.
“Relax, he was just being difficult.” Virgil rolled his eyes. “And he’s just being dramatic, it’s not even broken. Drastic measures had to be taken to get Diminutive Dracula into his container.”
“Dramatic?”  The vampire within scoffed. “You’re the one acting all ‘oh, you could be more into it you know, be more enthusiastic about being kidnapped.’”
A sort of amused huff came from Logan’s nose at the high pitched mockery.
“It’s not kidnapping, you little twit.” Virgil gave the box a good shake, earning a yelp from within. “You’re the one biting people in the night.”
“I wasn’t about to starve!” There was a tiny tapping noise, as the vampire stomped his bitty boot. “And it only hurts a little. It’s more like, ‘ow’ instead of, ‘Holy fuck, I’ve been stabbed.’”
“Is this true?” Logan looked to Virgil for confirmation, wanting to know if the pain tolerance required for such an activity was indeed lessened with the minuscule stature of this subject.
“How should I know?” Virgil shrugged. “I don’t let him anywhere near me.”
“That’s because I’ll fight you.” The vampire threatened. “I mean, I’d probably lose, but I’ll fight you.”
“If I were a bit more reckless I might like to see you try.” Virgil crossed his arms, turning to give Logan his full attention as he leaned on the table. “As far as I can tell, none of the residents have been contaminated, but we’ll want to have forensics make a clean sweep.”
“Naturally.” Logan agreed. “When dealing with the undead, it’s important to be sanitary, lest we get a full on infestation. I certainly don’t want another vampire clan popping up in the surrounding urban area.”
“Tell me about it.” Virgil groaned, still sore from their last dispute with a hostile pack of werewolves. “We’ve had enough monsters on our tails.”
“‘Monster’ is cutting it a bit harsh.” Their tiny captive butt in, clearly not liking to be silent long. “I was minding my own business; it’s not as though I chose this life.”
“No, but regardless your existence remains a threat to the human population.” Logan glanced at the box again, then back to his partner. “Is it imperative that we keep him contained, or might I get some initial observations on this newest case?”
“If you want all the blood sucked out of your fingers, be my guest.” Virgil waved towards the box.
“Don’t you dare bring me into the light you galavanting Giants!” The vampiric captive hissed.
“We’re not outside anymore, you moron, you’ll be fine.” Virgil snarled.
“Virgil, he clearly has no way of observing his surroundings.” Logan reasoned, although he was pleased to be able to rule out the supernatural ability to peer through various matters. “Are there any other metaphysical powers I should be aware of, moving forwards?”
“What, besides being a pain in the neck?” Virgil snorted.
“Bite me.”
“That seems counter-intuitive.” Logan frowned. “Isn’t your primary objective to sink your fangs into others?”
“It’s an expression, he’s mocking us- ignore him.” Virgil assured him. “As for powers… looks like your stereotypical vamp, but haven’t been able to test powers for rank. No idea about flight, transformation, mind control, healing salve, super speed- actually now that I say it, that last one might be unlikely.”
“It’s possible that heightened physical abilities such as speed would only put him on a level equal to that of a human, given the deformed stature, so it might be difficult to gauge.” Logan hummed, a hand to his chin. “It would be advantageous if there was an individual that size without supernatural abilities. It’s a shame we have no control group.”
“What do you mean?” Virgil looked suddenly on guard. “Like a normal tiny person?”
“Yes, although I doubt such a creature exists.” Logan admitted. “Although I suppose it’s possible-
Considering we don’t know if this vampire was born of a tiny family, or was a regular miniature being who was bitten by a similarly shortened individual, or if this vampire was a regular vampire who by unforeseen circumstances shrunk…” Logan tapped the side of the box, startling the occupant who had gone strangely silent. “How about it? Are you willing to provide any insight as to your origins?”
“Seems a bit personal.” The vampire snarked. “Not the sort of information I’m going to hand over to a bunch of bloody captors.”
Logan sighed. “A shame.” He spoke, standing back to his full height. “At least with more knowledge we could have gauged your limits more accurately, likely causing less pain in the long run. If we go into this blind some party involved is certain to be harmed, be they vampire or human.”
“...and what would happen to such a control group?” Virgil asked, shifting to hunch a bit more. He wouldn’t meet Logan’s inquisitive eye, instead biting his lip and looking over the box.
Logan paused, immediately suspicious of Virgil’s attitude. “I’m surprised at you, Virgil. If such a subject existed and truly possessed no sort of supernatural ability or deforment that may endanger others, they would be no threat to us. Humane treatment would be required and they could certainly prove to be a formidable ally.”
“Right, right, of course.” Virgil took a deep breath. “So... I might know someone like that.”

What I thought about Adventure Time: Distant Lands-”BMO”
Salutations random people of the internet who probably won't read this. I am an Ordinary Shmuck. I write stories and reviews and draw comics and cartoons. And today, I'm going to do one-fourth of what I do best by reviewing "BMO": The first hour-long special of Adventure Time: Distant Lands. Seeing how it's been a week since the special premiered, and that most fans saw it by now, I thought I'd share my thoughts on BMO. Keep in mind, if you haven't seen the special yet, you're final warning against spoilers stops here. Because I'll be spoiling the heck out of this special, by listings everything I like, and don't like. Things like characters, plot elements, and little touches that I thought were worth mentioning. Without further ado, let's start this review off by listing-
WHAT I LIKED
The Animation Quality: You know how Steven Universe: The Movie had animation quality that was ten percent better than the original series? That's basically what the animation in “BMO” is like. It's not the smoothest I've ever seen, and probably not the best Adventure Time has ever looked, but it's still pretty good. There's definitely more attention to detail, shading, and lighting to help make “BMO” look more cinematic than the series. There is one issue I have with the animation, though. But I'll get into that with the dislikes. For now, it's safe to say that the animation is still pretty darn good.
BMO (The Character, not the special): What can I say about this little rascal that hasn't been said already? BMO is still his adorable little self, and more so. There are times when his naivety can be kind of annoying, at least to me, but I'm sure BMO fans will love how he's presented in the special. Especially given the fact that this is the most active BMO has been in the entire series. Throughout most of Adventure Time, BMO has primarily been a source for comedy as well as a tool for characters to use. Even in episodes when BMO does save the day, it's either by accident or by him not understanding the situation. In "BMO," the little robot purposefully solves many problems, and fully understands the situation. The special still manages to keep his naivety by having BMO just not completely understanding how serious the problem is. Weirdly the writers found a perfect way to make BMO a more active role while not giving him a different personality. And personally speaking, the writers executed that idea well.
Y-5: This special may be about BMO, but Y-5 is the real star here. Y-5's personality, design, and overall arc as a character was so much fun and downright adorable to see. It was so surprising because I did not expect to like any new character introduced in Distant Lands. I just assumed that any newcomer would divert attention from the main character that the special would focus on. And while Y-5 does do that, I'm ok with it for three reasons. First, BMO is not a good character to work on his own. He actually needs characters that fully know what's going on for the plot to progress. Second, while Y-5 can hijack the story, sometimes, there are still segments that make it clear that "BMO" is about BMO. Third, Y-5 is already an incredible character, so I'm not going to waste time complaining about her inclusion. She plays the perfect straight man to BMO's antics, and it was so endearing to see her grow as a more confident character. So much so, that I actually consider Y-5 as one of my personal favorite characters. Not just in the special, but in the series overall. Also, I’m sure that there’s some symbolism behind her wanting to be called Y-5, but I’m not touching it. Mostly because I have no idea what I’m talking about in that regard.
The Comedy: There's not much to say here. The jokes are all worth a good chuckle but were never funnier than anything in the series as a whole. Except for that hard-cut to the elf looking angry as he drifts off into space. That was pretty hilarious.
The Drift: I love everything about the Drift. From its design to the background characters, and even the backgrounds themselves. Everything about the Drift just screams hard work and dedication from the cast and crew. It's almost as if everyone involved knew this would be the last time they would work on Adventure Time, so they just poured their hearts and souls into it. And given the fact that they worked so hard on the first special, makes me even more excited for the other three.
Martin returns...sort of: Let's be clear: It is understood by everyone that Mr. M is Martin Mertens. He has the same voice actor, the same mannerisms, and even the same body type. However, what I like isn't the fact that Martin returns. What I love is the fact that "BMO" never reveals that it's Martin. I'm sure some fans might be upset about not getting an official reveal, but I personally don't think it matters. Mostly because it doesn't matter to BMO. BMO doesn't know who Martin is, and has very little connection to the scumbag. So making a big reveal that Mr. M is Martin would just be unnecessary. Overall, I'm ok with the fact that the writers had Martin return to be nothing more than a glorified easter egg. Because honestly, it's what he deserved.
Hugo’s backstory: Again, there's nothing much to say here. It's yet another twist reveal about how a character who seems nice turns out to be quite the twat. There are two things worth mention, though. One, Hugo's personality stays the same. Look back at all Disney twist villains who become vastly different characters before and after the big twist. Compared to Hugo, he seems like a twist villain done right. Once you figured out that Mr. M is Martin, it should be pretty clear that Hugo's not a saint to be partnered up with the guy. Plus, when it's revealed Hugo really is, he still keeps up this charming persona that he uses around people...up until he ditches them like a twit. Another thing worth mentioning is the animation used for the flashback. Dedicated fans might remember that it was the same style used for "Water Park Prank," which might be the worst episode of the series. So it's nice to see the art style used for something good rather than something...not as good.
The solution to “save” the Drift: Most people use the special as an allegory for climate change. Which is why I put "save" in air-quotes because the citizens didn't really save anything. Similar to how we all play our part to save our planet. What the citizens do, though, is come up with solutions that might work as long as they have hope. And I. Freaking. LOVE that! The lesson that "BMO" is trying to teach is incredibly important, both to children and especially to adults. It's so easy to assume that the best solution is to abandon once it gets too hard and take the easy way out. Same as how some people believe it's better to just abandon this planet we call home, rather than put in the work to save it. And to those people: Let me ask you a question. Do you really think that you'll shoot off into space with the people planning to colonize another planet? Or do you think that those people are going to be like Hugo, who will only take along close friends and the rich? Personally, I think it's more likely going to be the latter. Which is why I adore the lesson being taught in "BMO." It might be hard to save the planet at this point, but it's still worth doing. And I can hope everyone else will come to agree with that conclusion.
WHAT I DISLIKED
Olive: I feel bad for saying I don't like Olive because the truth is that I'm more indifferent to them. To me, Olive feels less like a character and more like a plot device. This is because Olive has little to no personality, and all they do nothing but be something that furthers the plot. Although, I do like how Olive can stretch, as well as how they are overprotective over BMO. Other than that, there's not much to work off of.
Inconsistency with Character Designs: This was the problem I had with the animation. At times, characters are pretty inconsistent with how they're drawn. Some scenes, Y-5's eyes are large and cute, and other times they're normal-sized. There also times when BMO's height and width can be pretty inconsistent with what scene he's in. Now to be fair, this is nothing new to Adventure Time. It's a problem that the show has had for quite some time, and fans have come to accept it. However, just because you accept a problem doesn't make it any less of a problem. If anything, it makes it worse because the showrunners still refuse to fix it.
KS-2: Is it weird that the best character in "BMO" is the daughter of the worst character? Because to me, I don't understand how someone as amazing as Y-5 came from someone so rotten as KS-2. To be fair, I get what the writers were going for. They wanted to make a mother who was just another adult that "just doesn't understand." I can see that, but the problem is that the writers went too far with the idea. The way that KS-2 just constantly berates Y-5, as well as refusing to listen, comes off as too cruel. And the fact that the father pointed out how KS-2 never said the words "Y-5 was right," does nothing more than add fuel to the fire. But what's tricky is for all I know, this could have been the intention. And if it's true that the writers wanted to make KS-2 so unlikeable, then they more than succeeded. Although, I will give the crew credit for subverting gender norms by making KS-2 buff and the dad scrawny. I just wish that good intention was put into a good character.
The first chase scene in the Jungle Pod: This is mostly a nitpick, but it's still something that bothers me. Because having BMO getting chased away from his radio, to then have him end back where he originally was, felt like padding to me. Because why else would you have BMO go through all of that danger, only to have him end up at square one. Maybe the writers included the scene to build tension, but even if that's true, there could have been a better way to do it. Like while BMO's being chased, he somehow gets closer to his goal, rather than end up in a loop. And if the scene really was just for padding, then pad that time with literally anything else. Like maybe use the time to show KS-2's gentle side, or doing more to tease Hugo's true self. I know it would only be a few minutes, but actually make those minutes count for something.
It’s a Prequel?: After my initial viewing, my reaction to the ending was, "Oh, BMO found Finn and Jake's descendants." Then when actual smart people pointed out that "BMO" was a prequel, my reaction became "Oh, that makes way more sense." But then I started thinking about the fact that the special was a prequel, and the more I thought about it, the more holes I found. Or, at least, two holes that I found. First off, why does BMO have a heroic nature in this special? At first, I thought that maybe the years living with Finn and Jake taught BMO how to be a hero, but BMO hasn't met Finn yet. So I guess BMO felt like a heroic personality the entire time? Even though he never acted like this before in the series, unless he thought he was playing a game? Another thing I noticed is Martin's line about kids calling out their deadbeat parents. Why would he say that? Martin hasn't met Finn yet, either. Therefore Martin doesn't have the experience of being called a deadbeat parent. So does this mean that Martin has other children in the universe who calls him out on his crap? Or is it most likely that the writers wanted to give another clue that Mr. M was Martin, but briefly forgot the series timeline? I think it's most likely the latter, even though the former sounds way more interesting. And before people want to kill me because they actually love the story being a prequel, I want to point out, this is another nitpick. The fact that "BMO" is a prequel doesn't bother me too much, but I still can't help but feel confused when thinking about it.
As a whole, I give “BMO” an A-. BMO is as adorable as ever, Y-5 is an astounding character, I love the moral that the special is trying to teach, and the entire thing just screams effort. Is it perfect? No. Does it have problems? Yes, but not anything that makes me think the special was unwatchable. I enjoyed it, and something tells me that if you're an Adventure Time fan, you enjoy it too. "BMO" was a great introduction to Distant Lands, and here's hoping the other specials will be even better.
(And here’s also hoping that “Obsidian” will deliver that sweet, sweet Bubbline goodness that fans have been demanding for years.)

Conversations with Dead Planets
                                                  Cassie
My name is Cassie.
The last name doesn't matter. Hadn't mattered for nearly three years. For three years, my friends and I had fought a secret war against the Yeerks, a parasitic alien race that took control of your body by entering through your ear and wrapping itself around your brain. They could be in anyone: your parents, your mailman, your teacher anyone. We called them Controllers. The only way we had been able to fight them was through Andalite technology that gave us the ability to morph into any animal we touched. I had been a dolphin, a horse, a orca. It was amazing. The battles… not so much. My friends and later the younger brother of the Andalite who gave us the power became the Animorphs.
The technology that gave us this power had been lost until a kid named David found the blue box. We gave David the ability to morph and he was one of us until he betrayed us and we had to take care of him. The morphing power was our only advantage against the Yeerks. That and the fact that until very recently they didn't know who we were. They had thought we were rogue Andalite bandits. When they found out that we were human, we had to get our families out. We were successful...except for Jake our leader. We had been too late to get his family out and his brother Tom, who had been a Controller since the very beginning, infested his own parents. None of the Yeerks had the ability to morph except for one: Visser One, the only Yeerk who had ever taken an Andalite host and with it the power to morph. Until now. Because of me.
In our most recent battle, in an effort to stop Jake (my sorta boyfriend) from killing his brother Tom I had allowed Tom to get away with the blue box. I don't know why, I just knew that I couldn't let Jake kill his own brother. After all that we had been through, the countless battles, the countless deaths, this last one seemed to monstrous for even us. I couldn't let Jake do it. So in order to stop him I had bit him while I was in my wolf morph, resulting in Jake hitting me across the face… as a tiger. With tiger sized paws.
I knew why he had done it. Surprise. Anger. Now he could barely look at me. In his eyes I was a traitor. I wasn't so sure, but I knew that I didn't  want to be around him or any of the other Animorphs. When we got back to the free Hork-Bajir valley, I split off from the group, avoiding my best friend Rachel’s eyes as I headed for the tree line.
“Cassie!” I heard her yell as I ran further into the forest. As I ran, a certain picture floated to the top of my mind. I could feel my nails start getting thicker and longer as fur sprouted all around my body. Ax, our only actual Andalite member and the younger brother of the Andalite who had given us the morphing power, had told us that I was what the Andalites called an estreen, someone who could control how they morphed. When my friends morphed, it was not a pretty sight. Legs exploded out of them, eyeballs formed, beaks appeared on human faces. As the wolf whose DNA was apart of me rose out of my human body, near the end of it, I looked almost like one of those old Hollywood werewolves until the morph finished and I became a complete wolf.
I ran, pushing my legs to the extreme as I ran away, jumping over fallen trees, making hairpin turns as I let the wolf take me over. I reached the top of a hill, coming to a dead stop as I let the moon wash over me, feeling the cool wind blow through my fur.
Why had I done it? Why had I given Tom the morphing cube? With it, our only advantage was gone. If this fight had happened a few weeks earlier, we would have lost the cube before we ever created the Auxiliary Animorphs.
The Auxiliary Animorphs. Another one of my ideas. When our backs had been up against the wall, when we needed more warriors, more Animorphs, we had the dilemma of not knowing who was or wasn't a Controller. We couldn't recruit our parents. They had to be kids. Kids thay the Yeerks would never touch. Kids that the Yeerks believed to be powerless. That's when I had the idea: we would recruit disabled kids.
What was wrong with me? The Cassie that had entered this war would have never done this. When my father found out about this plan, he looked at me like I was a stranger, someone he didn't even recognize. To be completely honest? I wasn't so sure I recognized myself. I had done so many things in this war, killed so many people, all in the name of defending my planet. No one forced me to. No one held a gun against my head and told me I had to be an Animorph. That had been my choice. I had quit once, when I wasn't sure if I had killed a Hork-Bajir before or after Jake signaled the retreat. I could have ended it then. Been a normal girl again.
But then came Karen and Aftran. Aftran had been a Yeerk in the head of a little girl named Karen. She had found out our secret, and began stalking me. After a few days in the woods together, in exchange for Karen’s freedom, I agreed to morph a caterpillar permanently so long as Aftran never took another host again. See that's the drawback about morphing. If you stayed in the morph for more than two hours, you were stuck permanently. A nothlit. It had happened to Tobias, one of the members of our group, and it had happened to me.
Why wasn't I still in the body of a caterpillar though? Well according to Ax, since the caterpillar naturally morphed into a butterfly, it reset the morphing clock, allowing me to escape the blind fate of the caterpillar. I eventually saved Aftran from the Yeerks themselves, giving her the power to morph as long as she chose one morph and stayed in it forever. She was still out there, swimming in the ocean as a humpback  whale.
She had finished her fight. I was still in it. As the Drode had once called me, I was Cassie, the Killer with a Conscious. What would I give if this stupid war had never happened, if my biggest problem in the world was still feeding the ducks their pills or wondering if Jake liked me back? I would give anything.
“Anything, you say?” a voice behind me drawled.
I turned around quickly, losing balance as my now human legs tangled around each other. When had I morphed back to human?
“Who’s there?” I called into the forest, trying to peer into the darkness with my weak, human eyes.
“It is I Cassie. Do you not recognize me Cassie the hypocrite? Never a killer… except for when she is.”
Immediately goosebumps popped up all over my skin. Only one being had ever called me that.
“The Drode,” I said calmly, my terror hidden beneath my calm exterior.
“Yes, it is I,” it said, bowing before me with a flourish. “My master, the great and powerful Crayak heard your wishes and sent me down here to grant it. Unlike that meddling twit, the Elimist, the great and powerful Crayak can grant you what you most truly desire.”
He began circling me, whispering to me all of my most secret desires.
“No more lies Cassie.”
“No more death Cassie.”
“No more wondering whether what you just did was right and wrong.”
“No more wondering whether Rachel will die in a future battle.”
“No more of Jake feeling like you betrayed him.”
My breathing was coming out rapid and shallow. Yes I wanted all of this. How many times had I woken up, a cold sweat covering my skin from the nightmares. From seeing Rachel, fierce, loyal, brave Rachel, devoured by Taxxons, not even in her human form. How many times had I lied to my parents and they never questioned it because to them I’m their sweet innocent Cassie. Or rather, I had been. Until very recently, I had lied to them almost every day for the past three years.
My father thought I was a monster. I didn’t know if any of the other Animorphs had told him it was my idea to recruit James and the other disabled children. When we had left for that mission though, he had stared at me as if I was a stranger, no longer the sweet innocent Cassie. That Cassie had died the first time we went to the Yeerk pool. When I had taken my first life. I had been just thirteen.
What if the Drode could do as Crayak promised? Change everything so this war never happened? So that Jake, a man trapped in the body of a sixteen year old boy, could grow up without the weight of the world hanging around his neck. Rachel would never have to feel as if we were using her to clean up our messes. David would have never happened. Marco would have grown up with his mother. Ax would still have his brother. Tobias--
Tobias. If the Yeerks never came to Earth, that would mean that Elfangor, Ax’s older brother and the one who gave us our powers and told us about the Yeerks, would have never come to Earth and he would have never met Loren, Tobias’ mother. Tobias would have never been born. I opened my mouth to protest. The Drode cut me off before one word even passed my lips.
“Do not worry, Saint Cassie. Your feathered friend will still be born. The all powerful Crayak will see to it that the deceased prince becomes a nothlit. Tobias will have a loving father and mother and never want for anything. He will never know hardship, never be afraid, never wonder why his mother left him. He will be happy.”
I almost cried. When he had been human, Tobias was trapped in between two homes that had made it clear he would not be missed if he disappeared. As a matter of fact, when he had become a nothlit, Neither his aunt or uncle cared very much. I don’t think they even put in a missing persons report.  Didn’t Tobias deserve this?
“Why did Crayak send you to me,” I asked, my voice thick with emotion. “Why didn’t he go to Jake? I know he hates Jake, but Jake should be making this decision. Not me.”
The Drode smiled, his odd bird shaped head almost trembling with glee.
“Therein lies the catch, Horsewoman of the Apocalypse,” the Drode said, turning Marco’s one-off name for me into something cruel. “In order for Crayak to do this, Jake the Yeerk Killer must be sacrificed.”
The blood drained from my face. Jake wouldn’t be there. He would be dead. No. I would never let that happen. Jake was my-- I mean Jake was the one thing that made sense in this world. I lo--.
“And you must be the one to kill him.”
I turned on the Drode, my fist hurtling towards his face. Except that there was no fist. It was a paw, half morphed and quickly completing the transformation into full wolf.
“Before you say no Cassie the Hypocrite, let me show you something.”
The sky above me bloomed into images. I saw myself, my thirteen year old self, laughing, clinging onto Rachel’s arm as she dragged me across the mall, her eyes searching for the words “sale.”. Marco, funny Marco, pointing at me as his mother dragged him into their car, the words “tree-hugger” forming as his mom slammed the car door.
“He’ll be by tomorrow Cassie,” Eva laughed, her eyes kind and empty of the harsh truths that the former Visser One had left her with. “Thank you again for tutoring him!”
Another image, this one of Tobias and I, bloomed. We were camping, his father telling my father and us about planets far away. Planets that held giant bladed gentle creatures who peeled and ate bark. Of carnivorous worms that ate everything in sight. Finally, with a gentleness in his eyes, he told us of four legged beings who had four eyes and a blade at the end of their tail. “Gentle creatures,” he seemed to say. “Kind of uppity, but in a lovable way.” I was the only one who noticed the tear slip out of his eye.
“All of this could be real Cassie,” the Drode whispered in my ear. “You know what you have to do.” He waved his hand towards a dark spot in the clearing.
Jake appeared. He seemed confused at first, scanning the area. Then he saw me. His eyes narrowed, his mouth twisting in an ugly snarl.
“Cassie.”
<Get out of here Jake,> I said, my thought-speak filled with worry.
“Don’t worry. I don’t want to be anywhere near you,” he said, his voice filled with derision.
<Jake. Please. Get out of here.> I could not stop the fear from entering my voice.
He must have heard it because instantly his eyes softened, the boy general forgetting his current anger. For right now, he was my Jake again.
“Cassie? What’s wrong?” he said, his voice filled with concern.
“Casssssiiieeee… all of that can be yours. Just tear his throat out out. Don’t let him morph.” The Drode’s voice tangled all around me.
“Cassie,” Jake said again, this time dropping to the ground to be eye level with me. I could see the black stripes rippling across his features, his face bulging and eye color changing as he began morphing into the tiger I had seen him become so many times. His hand dropped as it became a paw. I felt that paw striking me across the face. His anger.
“One life for everyone else. A free galaxy. No more slaves. No more Yeerks. Just kill Jake Berenson and all of this can be yours.”
Suddenly Jake was human again, frozen aside from his eyes, which looked around, the panic settling in his eyes.
“KILL. HIM.”
Never. No matter what had happened between me and Jake, I could never kill him. I loved him. Nothing in this world was worth Jake’s life. Even if what the Drode promised was true, it came at too horrible a price. The price would be Jake’s life… and my humanity.
In an instant I turned on the Drode, my jaws aching for his throat. He disappeared, his laughter filling my ears as Jake also disappeared.
“Oh Cassie, too good for even her planet. One day soon you will wish for the great Crayak to offer you this again. When a friend falls in battle… you will wish for him. And he shall not appear. He will let you enjoy the spoils of your kindness.”
With a final laugh, his presence vanished. I demorphed, the cool winds rustling the trees. Nothing had changed. But Jake was still alive. And soon, this war would be over one way or another. As I stared at the sky above me, a Bug fighter flew across the crescent moon.

Humans are weird: We are giants in the bodies of insects.
“We’ve got mechs inbound boys!”  A rousing cheer surged among the humans as they cried out in joy at the announcement despite the near constant rate of fire still being launched at them. Malcar was still learning of human culture but he didn’t think their cheers were for anything significant to the current war. Humans had an odd habit of cheering over nearly anything be it getting a liquid beverage on time or remembering to bring a rain protection shield when they went out despite no signs of forthcoming rain.  Still, humans had readily answered the calls for aide when Malcar’s homeworld was invaded by a warlike species known as the Quwaty so he had no reason to question human habits. Not many other species wanted to fight the Quwaty because of their brutal nature and their tradition of making slaves of their defeated foes. They had invaded this world and all looked like it was over when a massive human relief force had emerged in orbit two months ago.  Malcar still remembered the sight of hundreds of human troop carriers descending from the sky over the capital of Humba while the Quwaty launched a massive attack on it. The humans had poured out of their ships the moment they touched terraferma and charged out to meet the enemy and through sheer grit and constant fighting had broken the main thrust of the Quwaty and drove them away from the city.  Since then with the help of the human soldiers they had been able to drive the enemy back to the equator before they were stopped. Quwaty resistance began increasing to the point the counter offensive stalled and now both sides found themselves stuck in heavily defended positions watching each other across no mans land.  They had been defending their positions against a savage Quwaty assault attempting to enter the trench system when the message had come down through the human communications network. The humans appeared to fight twice as hard at the news and Malcar had seen even greater feats performed by them pushing well past the limits of the sane. A few moments ago he had seen a human soldier whom he had known as “Jenkins” had been stabbed by a Quwaty Ironbark Carbine, only for Jenkins to pry the weapon from the Quwaty and then stab it with its own weapon. Malcar had rushed over to help Jenkins stand after he had dealt with the enemy warrior. “Why would you do something so risky human jenkins?” Jenkins looked at Malcar and smiled, blood coating several of his teeth. “Because I know we’re going to be alright! We hold on for a little longer and everything will be alright!” Jenkins started laughing, drops of blood flinging from his mouth making him look like a madman. “How do you know we will be alright?” Malcar asked, concerned that Jenkins may have entered an unstable mental state as a result of being stabbed. Jenkins lifted his hand and pointed towards the sky. “The mechs are coming! They’re going to fuck them up good! Hahahahhah!”  Malcar followed Jenkins finger skyward and saw several massive ships slowly descending behind our lines. The sheer size of them stunned Malcar. There were three ships, each appearing as massive spheres with legs sprouting out at the bottom as they neared the ground. “Everyone!” Malcar turned to the human commander at the announcement, “Get down and brace!” Malcar saw all of the humans surrounding him drop to their knees and bow their heads towards the approaching space ships. It reminded him of those who worshiped primitive ideas of all powerful beings. Malcar felt himself suddenly being dragged down by Jenkins and he fell to his knees just as the first of the ships touched the surface of the planet. A massive mound of dust shot up towards the sky and expanded outwards with such force that it had enveloped everything around it for several miles, the sun itself having difficulty piercing through the thick cloud now covering the warzone.  Malcar coughed several times before hearing a loud screech from behind. He turned fast enough to see a Quwaty warrior rushing him with an Ironbark Carbine. He raised his own weapon to attempt to get off a round at the warrior before he reached him, or at the least use it to swipe aside the carbine and counter with his elbow to knock the warrior to the ground when a loud roar echoed.  “BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA”  The Quwaty warrior halted their rush and cocked their head from side to side, as if trying to find the source of the sound.  “BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA” The sound came again and Malcar realized the sound was coming from where the ships had landed. He turned his head to follow the sound and saw lights carving their way through the dust cloud.  “BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA” The ground started trembling and Malcar couldn’t help but notice it felt like the footsteps of something massive. He could see lights now carving their way through the dust cloud and at first thought they were the running lights of the ship. But the lights were rocking back and forth now and getting closer by the second. Jenkins was laughing nonstop now and Malcar had a growing sense of dread. A large shadow appeared from the depths of the cloud as the ground continued to shake. Without warning a loud whine sound began emitting from the shadow followed by a blinding flash of light.  A large blast of plasma stabbed through the cloud and went flying towards the Quwaty side of no mans land. The plasma hit the line and shot up a huge explosion forcing the dust cloud to retreat away revealing the shadowy figure to Malcar.  Standing before him was a metal humanoid form several stories tall. The sunlight glittering off it’s polished metal form, steam rising from the recently fired plasma cannon, it’s chaingun slowly rotating in its other hand, and a painted human skull in place of a head glaring out across the battlefield.  Malcar was in awe of the metal giant and noticed several more exiting the sphere ships behind it. To think such aliens existed in the world and had sided with humanity was truly astounding. He was going to ask Jenkins questions about them when a loud voice dominated the warzone.  “ATTENTION QUWATY!” Malcar tracked the voice to the skull faced giant. “NORMALLY WE WOULD OFFER YOU A CHANCE TO LAY DOWN YOU ARMS AND SURRENDER TO US, BUT GIVEN YOUR SITUATION WE HAVE DECIDED ON A DIFFERENT COURSE OF ACTION.” The other giants were now walking over and standing to either side of the skull face, weapons appearing to power up.  “BECAUSE OF YOUR SLAVERY TRADITION AND WAR CRIMES COMMITTED AGAINST THE SPECIES OF NOT ONLY THIS WORLD BUT ALL OTHERS YOU HAVE INVADED, NO SURRENDERS WILL BE ACCEPTED AT THIS TIME.” Quwaty weapon emplacements from across no mans land opened up and began showering the giants in weapons fire. Most of the rounds seemed to cause little to no damage, many more just bouncing off all together. Streaks of rockets flashed and impacted them leaving only scorch marks on their armor.  “AS YOU HAVE TRAMPLED ON THOSE YOU LED INTO CHAINS, SO TO SHALL WE TRAMPLE OVER YOUR BROKEN CORPSES BENEATH OUR FEET. MAKE PEACE WITH YOUR GODS, FOR WE ARE DEATH COME TO COLLECT YOU.” With that all of the giants returned fire at once and began marching forward.  -------------------------------- Roughly two weeks after the intervention of the mechs the invasion was all that broken. The Quwaty attempted several times to mount a defense but they lacked any means of damaging the mechs as they stomped across the countryside hunting them down. Staying true to their word, the mechs did not accept any surrenders and left a path of bloody destruction littered with the bodies of Quwaty warriors. Several dozen had attempted to board ships and flee back into space only to be swatted from the sky by either the mechs or the human fleet now orbiting the planet uncontested.  Malcar had been nervous approaching the towering warriors humanity had brought with them but as the war seemed to be dying down he felt he must approach them and thank them personally for their aide.  Once back at base he saw the skull faced giant that had stood before him and he made his way over to it. The giant was slowly walking through the base until it entered a special hangar. Malcar was waved in by the guards and stepped into the hangar just as the skull face giant was backing into a massive rack that latched on the the metal warrior and held it in place. This was the first time he had ever been in the hangar. He saw several dozen humans racing across the hangar floor pushing boxes of ammunition or moving various tools. He could see several other humans walking along gangways that were holding other metal warriors and they appeared to be doing some work on it.  Malcar finally made his way to the base of the skull giant and looked up, the sheer size finally coming into full focus. He had got down on his knees and bowed his head just as the humans had done when the giants ship had landed. Malcar had figured that it might be religious but also may be a display of respect.  He was about to call up to the might warrior and offer his thanks when he saw a metal panel open from the midsection. As Malcar watched a smaller figure emerged from the panel and grabbed hold of a metal cord that slowly brought the figure down to Malcar.  As they touched the ground he saw that the figure was a human female roughly a foot smaller than him. She had bright red hair, freckles covering most of her exposed skin, and a large scar that went from her left eye all the way to the corner of her mouth on the left side.  “You.....You are human?” Malcar asked. The female just stared at him for several seconds. “Were you expecting a fucking mushroom you daft twit?” she responded. “No I, I am just confused.” He motioned to the mech. “How can you be inside such a creature? Did you tame them and control them from inside their stomach?” She looked at him again and just laughed in his face. He couldn’t understand any of this and her laughter just brought new questions.  “Did you honestly think this,” she struck her hand against the leg of the metal giant “was a living creature?” Malcar nodded causing the female to snort with another bout of laughter.  “This is a machine ya goon. We made it, we pilot it, we use it to kick arse all across the galaxy against anyone stupid enough to pick a fight with humanity.” “You, built this?” Malcar knew that humans had extensive use of machines, but the sheer size and complexity of the giant towering above him seemed like god science.  “I’ve seen that look before on a dozen other alien faces when they learn the truth.” Malcar returned his gaze to the female at her words. “You think that humans are small, frail, and weak. That because we don’t have claws or armored skin we will just lay down and die easily.” “What we lack we make up for in our will.” She brought her hand up and pounded it over her chest. “And not just any will, but an iron fucking will!” She pushed passed Malcar and raised her hands gesturing to the giants surrounding them. “Our imagination knows no limits, our fury knows no remorse, our compassion no end.” A small crowd was gathering around her all pounding their fists to their chests as she spoke. “We are giants in the bodies of insects! Where we tread, the earth shakes! Where we fly, the skies part before us! Where we sail, the waves break beneath us!” She turned to face Malcar, determination filling her eyes. “For when we put our minds to something not even an act of god can halt our progress! And so I say to you all..” The crowd around her called out as she spoke. “WE ARE GIANTS! FEAR OUR TREAD!”

Welcome to Aparecium, Maia! You have been accepted for Rose Weasley. Competition for a character is always difficult, but we appreciated the detail and nuance you included. As we briefly discussed when you submitted the app, we’ll need a more traditionally formatted bio for her character page, but welcome aboard. Check out the new member checklist, and jump right in.
Character Basics
Birthday (Age): December 22nd (21) Gender (Pronouns): Female (she her) Sexuality: Heterosexual Blood Status: Halfblood. Hogwarts House/School: Ravenclaw Occupation: Cursebreaker trainee Faceclaim: Erin Kellyman
Any requested changes? I picked a different face only because the ones listed weren’t calling out to me as much and I recently fell in love with both these girls!
Biography:
* WHAT ARE YOU LIKE ?
INTELLIGENT
“God. Does everyone have to point it out? Yes, I’m smart. Yes, just like my mum. Good Lord. I know already. I got the best marks in my year. I scored O’s on most of my OWLs and the one I didn’t get an O on was an E. Please, can we not mention it anymore. Mum gifted me with her incredible power of mind. Etc… Etc… It’s not that I mind having the brain power really, it’s that everyone expects me to be just like my mum, and no matter how much I love her, I’ll never actually be her. That aside, a battle of wits with me is probably a bad idea. Not many people can best me. That might sound full of myself, but I assure you, it’s completely true.”
SWEET
“Dad says it’s what he gets for naming me after a silly flower. That because of it I turned out as sweet as it’s scent. I guess someone in the family had to do it. Mum can be a little abrasive, dad a bit, well, air-headed. Hugo’s just his owe breed. I guess I just had to be the normal one? I’m the type that’ll get all dewy eyed over a lost kitten and probably end up taking it home with me. It used to really drive Mum batty. I just like to have kindness and compassion. I can’t stand to see people or animals hurting. I just want to give the world a big hug from time to time. A smile is the best thing you can give a person, in my opinion.”
FREE SPIRITED
“I like my flights of fancy, and that’s that. I don’t feel much of a need to follow society’s main stream. People can be ridiculously like lemmings at times and that just doesn’t fit me. I like to think for myself, discover my own path. It’s probably the thing that set me the most apart from the people I grew up around, especially in the last few years. I never had that driving need to fit in. If I wanted to compete, I competed. If I wanted to be a lazy bum, I lazed. It’s kind of just the way I am. I might go along with my friends or my family in their ventures but it doesn’t mean I won’t go my own way when I fell it’s might be a better option.”
ROMANTIC
“Stupid books. They gave me illusions of grandeur, I swear. I love them so very much, which is a different story but it lead me to this silly idea called romance. I read too many love stories when I was younger and now, no matter how improbable it really is I have this stupid hope in the back of my head that I’ll find some adoring White Knight that wants to sweep me off my feet. Not going to happen, I know. Ruined a good thing hoping for it, I know. You don’t have to tell me. But I just can’t help that little voice inside that wants it to be possible. My cousins and my brother all loved to take the mickey out of me about it. It gets bloody annoying sometimes. I guess I brought it on myself though. It doesn’t help when dashing, good looking young men like Scorpius Malfoy factor into the picture either. I suppose it was an inevitable failure on my part.”
SOCIABLE/FRIENDLY
“Surprisingly enough, though my dad did his best to make me a competitive twit, ha ha, I’ve turned out to be pretty darn friendly. I like to surround myself with different sorts of people. That’s probably how I got to know people like Scorpius, who dad was all set to make my arch enemy. In school I had friends from every house. We’d throw big parties in the old Shack and I’d be the life of the party. I’m not really sure where this particular skill came from. Maybe my dear Uncle George, who is amazingly cool, and my departed Uncle Fred, who I wish I could have met. The stories about them were still fresh legends of Hogwarts when I started school. Everyone liked them, so maybe that’s where it comes from.”
EMOTIONAL
“Yet another reminder of my similarities to my mum. I can get all worked up over the strangest things. I can go from scarily angry to completely teary eyed in the blink of an eye. I can hold a grudge with an outright vengeance… for about a week. (Dad says Mum used to do that to him as well.) It’s just the way I naturally express myself. I’ve sort of got my hear out on my sleeve. I wear my feelings pretty openly and I’ll let you know how you’ve made me feel.”
BOOKWORM
“I think I mentioned it earlier but I have the damnedest fascination with books. I just read like there won’t ever be another book published. It goes hand in hand with my overactive imagination. I can read a book and picture the whole thing in my head, just like a movie. I can make myself the star if I want to. It’s probably what got me into the whole ‘hopeless romantic’ mess with you-know-who. I just get so carried away with the stories that leap off the page that I can be consumed for hours and be totally happy with that.”
* SO HOW DID YOU GET TO BE HERE ?
“I come from the best parents you could ask for. Sure, my mum can be a little taxing at times, she’s Hermione after all, and my dad can be a bit of a goof. But the things you hear about in the stories are true. They’re good, loyal, amazing people who just happen to have fallen in love in the aftermath of a world on the brink of war and had two very silly children. It sounds like a fairytale doesn’t it? You ever wonder what comes after the happily ever after? Me and Hugo, that’s what.
My parents named me Rose because mom had a thing for the smell of them when she was pregnant with me. She thought it was clever I guess. They gave me my Aunt Ginny’s name for a middle name and I love it. She’s a tops lady and I’m glad to share the name with her. I can’t say my name was super creative but I don’t complain about it either. I think it’s classy and timeless which are both very positive traits.
They had me first, thank God, because as much as I love my little brother I am glad he’s my little brother. We are close, as brothers and sister are wont to be. But I am pretty close with all my family. Anyways, we grew up with means enough to have all of what we needed and a lot of what we wanted. The benefit of having famous parents I suppose. Mum and Dad indulged us quite a bit, but they never let us get spoiled to the point of being brats. We spent tons of time with the family. I have too many cousins to count and I love them all, but especially Roxanne. I think it’s because we were both so much our own people that we bonded. I was and am also very close to Albus, who was always my best friend when Roxanne was too busy being independent to play. Albus and I would play together for hours, making up stories and pretending to me our heroic parents. We look back on it now and laugh. We wonder if we’ll be in the history books someday, considering the direction the wizarding world is carrying on it now. This change to magical technology is fascinating but a bit terrfying and I often find myself wondering when it’ll blow up in our faces, figuratively or literally.
Al and I started school the same year. I think he was relieved to go together. I had no fear at all. I came prepared of course, being my mother’s child. I remember looking around the platform and marveling at the number of people that could be going off to just one school. Dad pointed out the Malfoys and Scorpius, who I was to beat at every test, or so dad admonished. Mum told him not to pit us against one another so soon. Diplomatic? Mum? Apparently so. We got on the train like everyone else and started out new life. I spent the train ride reminding Al of all the good things we’d experience at school. We were part of a legacy after all and I was very proud to carry that banner. It worked out alright, for the most part. The three of us were best of friends until I decided to date Scorpius and it all went a bit… well it’s not great.
I did well all thought school. I got Mum’s brains after all. I really did beat Scorpius in tests sometimes, just like dad wanted, but I also made a friend out of him. He’s actually very charming, thought I suppose I’m not supposed to think about im that way anymore. I’m living my own life now, bad decision and all. He certainly isnt’ not the only friend I’ve ever made, you know. I had a good sized group of close knit friends from all the houses back in school. We’d sneak out and throw little parties in the Shrieking Shack sometimes. It was the best of times. Then we grew up and moved away and soem of us stay in touch. Some of them are even in the trainee program with me, so that’s beeen nice though we’re nearly done there, as well. Hopefully we’ll all stay friendly. I need my own friends now, since both my closest mates probably hate me by now.
* WHAT WOULD WE FIND IN YOUR TRUNKRIGHT NOW ?
Honestly? Probably a mess. Whatever I didn’t need got left in it all jumbled up. Most of my clothes and such are in the wardrobe where they belong and my school things are in my night stand. the trunk is probably holding a multitude of things that are unimportant. Classic muggle cds, a few daydream charms from Uncle George’s shop, that Skiving Snackbox that Roxy gave me last year. Who really knows. It’s probably a downright motley collection. I think there’s that pretty amulet that Lorcan and Lysander gave me this Christmas past. I doubt you’d find anything interesting. All the juicy secrets are hidden away elsewhere…
* WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE THINGS ?
Hmm. There are so many. I love the smell of rain, especially when it’s been a warm day out and it’s the first rain, pumpkin pie becasue it always takes me back to the Burrow, pine trees, and warm leather, especially the particular scent of Scorp’s leather jacket I bought him for his birthday. It’s wonderful. But you are never to repeat that to anyone! I swear I’ve got an arsenal of hexes just waiting for you if you try it!
I also like to play Quidditch with my cousins, but I don’t play for the house team or anything, it’s not really my style. I also like to just have a fly on my broom. There’s something thrilling and intoxicating about the feel of being suspended high up there with the wind rushing past you. It’s incredible.
A good practical joke is always a favorite of mine. It probably comes from growing up with Roxy and Fred as older people to look up to though. They are just like their da. I love them. Truthfully I feel that way about all of my family. We’re close knit and they’re all amazing people. That also applies to the extended family like 'Uncle’ Neville, 'Auntie’ Luna, and their families as well. Luna is actually one of my favorite people in the world. I love to go visit Lys and Lor on hols and talk to her about things. She’s got the most unique points of view in the whole world and doesn’t expect me to have all the answers. Actually, one of the things I have always loved most in this world is other people. Albus, who’s as close to me as a brother and my most trusted friends. Scorpius, who is more than just a mate, even if it all went terribly and I can’t look at him without my stomach tying itself into knots becasue I’m either anxious or missing him and I don’t really know which… My Aunts and Uncles and cousins. Even my ridiculous little bother Hugo. They all made the world a brighter place just by existing for most of my life. It’s just hard to carry the burden of everyone’s expectations…
I also love silly little things like swimming in the summer, and flirting a bit or going shopping in Hogsmeade or Diagon Alley. Looking at the stars is one of life’s little pleasures, as are new, fashionable, clothes and shoes. Music is also among my favorite things. There are so many things that I enjoy I could tell you about them all day, but I think this is probably enough of my talking your ear off.
Character Questionnaire
Answer at least three of the following questions about your character. This could be in character or a third period explanation.
What does your character value in a friendship? At this point in life she values people who look at her as an individual. Not a cog in a greater machine. She’s been a Weasley, Hermione’s daughter, part of a trio… etc for all of her life and she’s been trying (in the wrong ways maybe) to buck that co-dependence. SO she wants friends who accept her as she is, who thin of her as her own person, and who don’t put pressure on her to be a part of a legacy.
How would your character describe their own work ethic? Is that an accurate measure of themself? She is a hard worker, to the point of making herself crazy at times, and she absolutely will not admit that. She’ll tell you shes capable and will do her job well, thoroughly, and on time, but she will not tell you that if you put her in a crunch she might work herself to anxiety attacks to get ti don’t on time.
How would a stranger who has just met your character describe them? Right now, probably a bit cold. A bit too sharp. If they’re perceptive perhaps they’ll say those things are an attempt to hid something else, probably hurt and fear. Not rude, exactly, but not soft.
What magical skill or talent is your character most proud of? Her curse breaking. She decided young she wanted to follow after her Uncle Bill in profession and worked very hard to earn the marks to do so. She’s been top of her trainee pool from the start and is on track to head a team when she completes training. This is, to her mind, her great achievement. It’s something she did for herself, telling her Uncle not to give her any recommendation or benefit. That’s worth gold as far as she’s concerned, because unlike going itno the family business or the ministry, she’s not relying on the name of her parents, just her own skill and work ethic.
Para Sample
Rose hadn’t had occasion to throw much of a party since her birthday the previous winter. While the annual ball for St. Mungos had been fun it was a much more prim sort of fun, full of champagne and fine dresses. Rose wanted to spice things up a bit, less mystery and more playfulness.
Back in her Hogwarts days she’d had a party in the shack every Halloween night from her fourth year on. It had been, in her not at all humble opinion, the social event of the year. Costumes required, some years masks as well, and always full of fun and whatever strange concoctions she could come up with. The Alice In Wonderland theme in her seventh year had been her triumph, filled with glowing giant mushrooms for seating and drinks that did all sorts of strange things to you. It was a bonus of having cousins who spent all summer in a joke shop.
So it shouldn’t have been of any real surprise to her cousins when they received invitations to a costumed Halloween after party with instructions to show up at the Burrow after the ball, with their dates if they wished, and enjoy a night out. Rose had already decorated the back yard, making use of the pavilion that had once been the venue of Bill and Fleur’s wedding. It was decorated now in low light, full of candles and spiderwebs and all the spooky trimmings of a Halloween party. Grandma molly had helped with the food and drink, a boon especially since rose wasn’t much good in the kitchen. Now all she had to do was put on the music and wait for the family to show up.
And they’d better be in costume or she’d have their heads.

“Don.” The man in question looked up from the too bitter and just shy of cold coffee his was pouring at the sound of his name and saw Colby leaning in the room, hanging onto the doorframe. “What’s up Colby. When did you get back?”
Colby didn’t react to the second question, hiding the pang it sent through his chest. He’d just come from a discussion with Kirkland, but Don didn’t need to know that. “Little bit ago, the lead didn’t go anywhere. As to what’s up, not much, we don’t have anything new at the moment and we’re still waiting on some info to come in.” There was something off about him but Don couldn’t place it, so he set it aside to deal with later. “Alright, then what is it?” Colby shifted slightly and Don hid a grin with his drink. It was the same shift the man always made when he wanted to be frank but was trying not to come off as an ass challenging authority, it was an adjustment made to compensate for the years in the military. “Listen, man, David hasn’t slept in two days, and I haven’t either, can I please force him to go home and rest?”
He didn’t hide the grin this time. “Yeah alright, just make sure you two princesses are back here in the morning after your beauty rest.” Colby rolled his eyes at the teasing and nodded his thanks as he went.
David was at his desk in their shared cubicle and he looked up as Colby neared, he offered a greeting as he turned back to his files. “Hey Granger, we got anything new on the bugs yet?”
Colby ignored the painful clenching in his chest and shook his head with a neutral expression as he settled on the edge of his partner’s desk easily enough and to the observer, it seemed casual. “No, not yet. Listen, Don wants us to head home, get some rest, and come back in the morning.”
David absentmindedly offered an “Uh-huh.”, already shifting through the next layers of papers. “David, you hear me, man?” No visible response was offered, so he poked him in the shoulder. “Yeah, Granger, just let me finish going through these files, alright?” He looked at the stack and sighed internally. Judging by the size of it, David’s ‘look through’ would take at least another hour.
“David.” Something in Colby’s tone, something too low and too flat, made the man look up and he frowned at what he saw. Colby seemed normal enough to the world, but David knew him better. To his partner the man looked worn down to his limit, he was normally bright and chipper even in the most dire of circumstance, but right now his eyes were dim, betraying something emotionally wrong, enough so that David was concerned. He set the files aside and stood. “Yeah, let’s go home.”
It didn’t take them long to get back to David’s place, there hadn’t been any question that they would stay together tonight as they did most nights, and David’s was closer. Colby’s car pulled in just a moment after David’s jeep and the senior agent let out a deep breath and let his shoulders fall, finally feeling the weight of stress he’d been ignoring ever since Charlie faced off with a bomber and he and his partner had scaled a bridge to be face to face with said explosives.
Once they’d gotten inside they shed their outer layers – shoes by the door and jackets on the hook. Their keys were tossed on the side table with their phones. Suddenly feeling too closed in and wanting to have fewer restrictions David started undoing his tie, Colby, being the rebellious little twit he was, and hating them, rarely wore one. Gentle arms wrapped around David’s middle as Colby laid his head on his shoulder quietly, almost timidly. David responded by resting his head against Colby’s while he finished removing and folding his tie so he could set it down. “You alright Colb?” Task done, he turned in his partner’s arms and returned the embrace. “You’re oddly quiet, Mr.-always-has-a-snarky-comment.” Despite the teasing comment, David’s tone was quiet – They were both tired and he was genuinely concerned at how off his partner’s mood seemed. The so brief you could have missed it tightening of Colby’s arms around him almost desperately didn’t ease that concern at all, but Colby pulled away and offered a small smile. “Yeah, just not feeling great. Tired.”
David frowned but didn’t push the issue. Colby would talk to him when he was ready, or David would push him when there was a problem, but for now, neither of those moments had arrived. “Alright then.”
He stepped around Colby and headed for the kitchen, calling over his shoulder as he went: “Have you eaten yet?” He offered a sheepish grin around the kitchen archway’s frame before ducking duck around to make tea. “I kind of lost track of you for a few hours.”
Colby swallowed past the block in his throat and tried very, very hard not to break down right that moment. He couldn’t tell David where he had been for those hours, about his meeting with Kirkland, he couldn’t tell him those things any more than he could tell him about the past five years. Oh, how he wished he could.
“No. No, I haven’t.” He forced some form of his normal self to shine through, refusing to ruin what may well be the last night they had…even if David didn’t know it. So, with a small grin and a forced lightheadedness to his tone, he stepped into the kitchen and leaned against the counter by his partner. “And judging by that question, I’m guessing you spent most of the day working through the case. Did you even have lunch, David?”
The teasing in his tone came through and David rolled his eyes, pushing him playfully and too gently to be called a shove. “Yes Mom, I did.” Colby swayed with the nonexistent momentum of the nudge while chuckling, holding his hands up at his sides mockingly in surrender. “Alright, alright, no need to get violent!” David was suddenly in his space and Colby laughed in earnest as his partner mumbled “I’ll show you violent.” before proceeding to tickle his sides and lay a few dozen kisses along his jaw and neck.
Colby pushed at his shoulders without any real force but enough to be felt, play fighting with him and laughing as he arched his neck, notably in no way that made it harder for David to access. “Uncle! Uncle!” The hands at his sides stop their torment and laid flat, holding him gently as David’s head fell to his shoulder, the man’s frame shaking with quiet laughter. After a moment David raised his head and rested his forehead against Colby’s, the two pausing there with their eyes closed, enjoying the peace and each other while they caught their breath.
“D’you feel like cooking, or y’want to order something?” Colby hummed in response to the question murmured against his cheek, and shook his head ever so slightly as not to displace David. “Order something.” He answered quietly. David gave a small nod and pressed a chaste kiss to the corner of his mouth before pulling back and turning away to grab their takeout menus by the microwave.
“The usual Chinese?”
Colby could have thrown up from the sudden sour twisting in his stomach, and he was glad his partner’s back was to him so the sick look on his face didn’t give him away. Swallowing heavily and willing the bile to go back down his esophagus, he took a deep breath and tried to maintain a steady tone as he choked out an answer. “Rather not.”
It must have sounded relatively normal to David because the man did not turn around with concern nor questions, merely shuffled through the small collection of pamphlets with an absentminded nod. “Alright. You don’t like Italian, so there’s Thai, Ethiopian, or the Greek place we haven’t tried?” He looked up at Colby questioningly and the man breathed a sigh of relief when nothing more than drawn brows followed, apparently, his inner turmoil wasn’t written across his face. “Thai?”
David nodded and set the other pamphlets down. “You want your usual Colb?” Colby nodded, the tension slowly running out of his shoulders at the normalcy. “Sounds good.” David nodded one last time and picked up the phone, gesturing to the hallway with it while he dialed. “Why don’t you go get changed while I order?”
Glad for the escape and the time to compose himself Colby nodded and pushed away from the counter, heading for the archway. David grabbed him gently as he went by with an arm around his waist and pulled him close, moving his arm up so he could cup the side of Colby’s head with his hand, pressing their temples together in a brief embrace before letting him go. Colby offered a small smile as he went, saying nothing as the phone rang.
He let the smile fall as he walked down the hallway to David’s, honestly their, bedroom, shutting the door behind him quietly. He stood there for a moment, slumped back against the door, and for a handful of seconds, allowed the turmoil in his chest to consume him. Grief, Pain, Nausea, Tears, Dread, Anger, Fear, Resentment, Sorrow, and Love so all-encompassing it hurt, it along with the crushing knowledge that he would soon lose that love.
It was only a matter of days, and he knew it. Kirkland had told him that the only conceivable plan that could work was if he was arrested and placed in prison with Dwayne for however long it took for Dwayne’s contacts to make plans to get them out. Hopefully - and damn it Colby was going to learn to hate that word – Hopefully, it didn’t take too long, maybe a few weeks or months. Months. In a prison. In a hellhole that would be worse than normal given his ‘past’ as a Fed. He could live with that, but he didn’t have to like it.
Five years. Five years he had been living through paranoia, threats, injuries, cutting contact with his family, and never-ending isolation just to get this scumbag: The Mole in the DOJ. He could appreciate the complexities of governments, and the reality that none of them were clean nor deserved real loyalty, but then again he wasn’t doing this out of loyalty to a government. No, he was doing this for two reasons: One – He owed a life debt to Dwayne Carter, and playing this game, giving him a chance at getting out alive and free, was the only way he could repay him. And two – The information the Mole was after would get people killed, dozens if not hundreds of innocent people, not just soldiers but also civilians, killed. That was why he was still going through with this, why he had been dreading something like this for five years.
He hated this, and he hated Dwayne for getting him into this. If he was truthful, he hated himself too, for what his actions, necessary or not, were going to do to the people he had come to love, his found family. He had asked Kirkland, begged him, to be allowed to tell just one of them, to tell his partner what was coming. He’d pleaded to be allowed to confide in the man, to give him the comfort he owed him for what was coming. Even if it was just to tell him something vague, not even the truth of the last five years, but anything at all to explain what was going to happen. But he couldn’t, and he’d known that already. Still, he’d had to try, to hope against hope that maybe the answer would be yes, because he knew that when the false information dropped it would tear his partner’s heart out and gut his family. He knew that beyond questioning the man he’d worked with as a partner for three years, David was going to question the person he’d lived with as his partner in home and heart, and Colby wasn’t going to be there to reassure him that that man was real, that that love and trust was real.
He wasn’t sure if he would be able to mend the damage, even if the lie was kept for only a week, and he knew it would be longer. If he backed out, he’d owe a life debt still, and hundreds of people could be killed because of his unwillingness to do this. It was too late anyway, his name was on that list and he knew it was only a matter of time until they found it.
He wanted to collapse and sob, or throw up so this feeling wasn’t contained to his stomach anymore, he wanted to scream in frustration and anger and helplessness, he wanted….he wanted to lie to himself and pretend this wasn’t happening because he knew he couldn’t stop it. But he’d be lucky if he got another night with his partner and lover, and he didn’t want to destroy what was likely the last they would have by failing to contain the turmoil inside himself. So, he pushed away from the door, gathered his pajamas, changed into them, folded his day clothes and placed them on the dresser, and valiantly ignored the clock ticking away the seconds of this night in the back of his mind.
He sat on the bed and scrubbed a hand over his face, attempting to wipe it, and any tears that may have escaped, away. He’d composed himself just in time too, as he heard the doorknob turn and looked up to see David stepping into the room with a gentle smile directed at him. “Hey.”
He grinned a bit crookedly back at him, “Hey yourself.”
David shook his head with a gentle snort and let the door fall shut behind him as he made his way towards the dresser. “Food’s ordered, should be about fifteen minutes if their track record holds. In the meantime, I’m going to get changed.”
“Okay.” He didn’t say more as he laid back on the bed and crossed an arm over his eyes, leaving the other thrown out to his side. He was sure most people would have watched, and most people would have been lucky to be allowed, but being Demi/Asexual as he was, that didn’t really do it for him. True his partner was beautiful, and normally Colby would gladly watch and appreciate that beauty, but tired and stressed as he was, he was content to simply bask in his partner’s presence.
He didn’t open his eyes, or rather peek one eye out from under his arm, until he felt David nudging him gently, standing between his knees. He peered up at him lazily and David grinned, holding out his hands for Colby to take, once he had his partner pulled him into a sitting position and settled his hands on his shoulders. It was a tad awkward on Colby’s neck to look up at the man, but they were far enough apart it didn’t hurt, so he settled there comfortably, loosely stringing his arms around David’s waist and humming happily when he felt a hand petting through his hair. “You’re a bit worn out Colby?”
He dropped his head forward onto the man’s stomach, mindful to be gentle and not to hurt his partner, and gave a small grunt in response. David didn’t push him and Colby took a moment to take a few deep, calming breaths before answering fully. “Yeah, I don’t feel great. I just want to eat, do nothing, and spend the night together.”
David bent over and he felt a firm kiss press against the top of his head, a gesture of comfort before he stood straight again. “Then that’s what we’ll do, okay? We’ll eat and then we’ll lay down.” He hummed and took a steadying breath before pulling back and peering up at his partner through slightly unfocused eyes. “Sounds good.”
It was at that moment that the doorbell rang and David treated him with a parting kiss to his forehead before going to answer it. Force of habit made him listen for any commotion or sounds of distress, but all he heard was the all too common sounds of their food being delivered and the small talk David was having with the person who brought it. He sighed quietly and pulled himself to his feet, determined to set it, all of it, as out of mind as he could and focus on his partner for the next few hours. Wandering into the kitchen he found said partner already splitting the food they ordered onto a pair of plates and grinned, rolling his eyes.
“You could have come get me to help.” He said it teasingly, already moving to grab a pair of cups and fill them with tea. David returned the grin over his shoulder, “Not a difficult job Colby.” Colby just shook his head, both of them knowing that wasn’t the point, and dropped a kiss on David’s shoulder with a quiet “Thank you.” as he carried the drinks towards the living room. He settled on the couch and David carried their plates in a moment later, setting them on the coffee table and setting himself next to Colby.
“Do you want to watch something?” Colby shrugged in response. “You choose.” David eyed him a bit oddly at the lack of banter over their shows and which ones were worth watching and which weren’t, but stood and walked over to the TV set without a word. Kindly, he chose something he knew they would both enjoy rather than one of his own favorites that Colby would not have. He sat back down and enjoyed the sight of Colby’s grin as the theme for the old Star Trek show started playing. Colby settled into his side and nudged his shoulder with his nose, a common affectionate gesture for him, gaze remaining on the old show. He grinned while he grabbed his plate, pulling his legs under himself and leaning into David’s side. “This has got to be one of the goofiest shows ever made.”
David smiled. “It is. But it is the reason we have Next Gen, Enterprise, and the reboots, among all the other series and movies.” He took a bite of his food. “Plus, it’s not that bad.” Colby snorted but didn’t comment.
Dinner took them about as long as the episode did, and by the time it had ended David was at least slightly confident that his partner was a bit happier, but even then he could still see the edges of something pulling at the man. He debated asking if he wanted to watch another show, but judging by the way Colby was pressing into his side while trying not to disrupt him, he figured it would be better to get them into bed. It wasn’t unusual for Colby to press close to David, in fact, he often deferred to physical affection before verbal as it came more naturally to him, but this was different. The force with which Colby was pressing into him, while not painful, was more than normal, he almost wanted to call it desperate when one took into account the way Colby was hugging himself and the general muted state he’d been in all evening. So, he set his cup down next to their stacked plates and turned towards his partner.
“Bed?”
Colby gave him a small, lazy smile. “Yeah. That sounds good.”
David nodded and leaned his head forward to nudge Colby’s nose with his own, eliciting the single soft, breath filled laugh he was hoping for. “Why don’t you go get settled? I’ll put the dishes in the sink and we can deal with them in the morning.”
Two lazy arms looped around his neck in a light hug as Colby dropped his head, nudging at David’s neck. “Okay.” Placing a light kiss there, he unwound himself as easily as he’d settled and disappeared into the bedroom. David followed him after cleaning up and checking the lock on the door, finding his partner sitting in bed and absently staring at the wall with an expression that seemed blank but betrayed something darker underneath. He stopped just before the bed, watching his partner his with concern.
“Colby? Are you alright?”
The blonde looked up at him with a furrowed brow and sad eyes. Quietly, almost sadly he answered: “I don’t want to lie to you David.”
David frowned, worry coloring his features. “Then don’t Baby.”
Colby’s eyes fell shut and a pained expression crossed his face. He ducked his head, swallowing hard against the pain lodged there. Finally, he settled on the most honest answer he could give, but nowhere near the answer he wanted to give. “No. I’m not alright, and I don’t think I’m going to be alright for a while.” Hazel eyes that shifted from honey brown to sea glass green met his own, betraying the weight of something David couldn’t name. “But I don’t want you to worry about me, and I don’t want to upset or hurt you.” He sighed, shoulder’s slumping as he rubbed at the bridge of his nose for a moment. Sensing he wasn’t finished, David didn’t say anything, and sure enough, those sea glass eyes met his own a second later. “I just want to lay in this bed, curled up with my partner, and pretend the rest of the world doesn’t exist.”
It didn’t negate his concern, but if holding his partner and comforting him would help whatever was going on in his head or out there in the world that David didn’t know about… “Okay.”
He kissed him as he climbed on the bed, settling on his side of their shared space on his back but still turned towards his partner. Colby followed him easily, turning with him and laying down next to him. David broke away long enough to pull the blankets up to their waists, laying back down and opening his arms to the other. He’d been right about the desperation behind Colby’s earlier pressing into his side, if the way Colby’s legs immediately tangled tightly with his own, his chest flush to David’s side, arms wrapped firmly around his stomach, and his head tucked close under David’s chin were anything to judge by.
David, his range of motion effectively limited, began rubbing soothing lines up and down Colby’s spine, carding his fingers through his hair with the other hand. He would have stayed there, unknowing of what was wrong but happy to provide comfort, but then he felt a warm dampness seeping through his thin T-shirt.
“Colby…?” He questioned softly, not wanting to jar the man. The answer was an immediate tensing of Colby’s arms and legs squeezing him gently but tightly while the man pressed into him with his whole body.
David’s stomach twisted a bit. It was highly unusual for Colby to cry, and David could count on less than two hands how many times he’d seen it. The man tended to grit his teeth and bury everything under a cloying layer of ‘what needs to be done, needs to be done and everything else doesn’t matter’, including the effect it had on him. That he was nearly silent and still even now when only a few moments worth of tears had soaked through David’s shirt to his skin was both telling and worrying.
He ran his fingers through Colby’s hair a few more times before gently cupping the side of his jaw and carefully urging him to look up. Colby’s head tilted up and their eyes met, David nearly winced. Though there were relatively few tears running down Colby’s face, his eyes were telling. They turned completely brown when he was angry, bright sea glass green when he was happy or excited, and every shade in between for every little event and emotion throughout the days. But most unfairly, they only turned to this particular shade, the shade of green found not in sea glass but in the deep waters and algae blooms, when sorrow had engulfed the man’s heart. It was a beautiful color, among the most entrancing Colby’s eyes would turn, mesmerizing and endless, but David’s heart hurt to see it.
He used his thumb to wipe away the tears on Colby’s cheek gently. “What is it, Baby?” He uttered softly, desperately wanting to know what was hurting his lover so he could help, or at least comfort him properly, but afraid of speaking too loudly or too harshly for fear of pushing him away.
Colby’s eyes fell shut as a few new tears fell. He shook his head slowly. “I don’t want to talk about it.” He whispered, more than loud enough to be heard. Swallowing past his tears he told the truth, this one that he could. “I can’t talk about it.” His voice choked off at the end and he dropped his forehead to David’s chest, rocking his head back and forth lightly.
“It’s okay, you don’t have to Colb.” David would have let it drop there and spent the remaining waking hours comforting the man, but his partner raised his head and met his eyes with an alarming level of intensity and gentleness that should not be mixing. Though it was little more than a whisper, quiet, slow and timid, the near panic lancing through it made David feel as if he had been punched in the gut. “I need you to know that I love you.”
They said it often enough in the privacy of their homes, away from prying eyes and listening ears, but this was not so much a declaration as it was a desperate plea to be heard. David just didn’t know why. He knew Colby loved him, surely Colby realized that?
Colby had laid further down the bed than David, the easier to wrap his entire body around his partner, but he wasn’t so far down that it was any great difficulty for David to bow his head and kiss him, gentle and just shy of desperate. He didn’t go far when he pulled away, merely enough to look at him. “I know, Colb. I’m not gonna forget that.”
A low, sad whine escaped from Colby’s throat and David pressed the hand resting in his hair against his scalp just a little more firmly, trying to ground him. Though he kept his tone gentle and his voice soft, he made sure the next words out of his mouth were firm. “I know you love me, Colby, I haven’t doubted that. And I love you too, Baby, that’s not going to change.”
A sad smile played over Colby’s features as his tear-filled eyes refused to meet David’s. “Maybe…” It was a whisper but David heard it. He sighed quietly and carded his hand through Colby’s hair a few times, he then hooked the side of his thumb under the man’s jaw and gently raised his head to face him before turning that hand to cup the man’s jaw and cheek. Colby shifted against him in response and raised the arm he’d had across David’s stomach to cup his hand around the back of his neck, fingers absentmindedly stroking the smooth dark skin there.
David offered him a smile and turned his head to press a light kiss to the wrist now hovering next to his jaw. The action earned him a small upturn at the corner of Colby’s mouth and that was good enough. He turned back to Colby and met his eyes, making sure he held his attention. “Whatever’s going on, we’ll get through it, Colby, I promise.”
The man gave him a sad, tearful, but genuine smile. “I hope so.”
They didn’t talk further on whatever it might be – David unknowing but only seeing his partner’s pain, and Colby knowing but unable to say anything and fearing the pain he was going to both cause and feel. Perhaps both feeling the inevitable coming, no matter their understanding of it or lack thereof, they stayed awake as long as they could, long past the faded twilight of L.A. and into the night hours. Colby, despite being Demi/Ace did enjoy his partner physically, but they weren’t in a particularly playful mood, and so did nothing particularly fun. Instead, they passed the time trading gentle kisses, affectionate caresses, and soft words of love and reassurance. David more than willing to provide comfort and affection to his partner, reassuring him that everything would be alright, and Colby returning that affection desperately and begging whatever beings resided in the heavens that those reassurance would be true.
Colby Granger was arrested the next day. And while he sat across from his former boss and friend and confessed a crime he didn’t really commit, he felt himself die inside. He couldn’t look David Sinclair in the eye as the man’s world shattered, nor could he stand up and gather him into his arms and promise him it would be okay, just like they said. He couldn’t let anyone see as his own heart shattered and stopped beating, and he wasn’t allowed to loose the scream of agony stuck in his throat or the let the tears pressing at his eyes fall – He could only sit there and play the part he was given. He watched helplessly as his family fell apart and lied, ironically for the first time in three years he really, truly lied.
He died sitting in that chair. Without a family waiting for him, a home to come back to, without his partner… what did he have? Nothing. He was once again just a soldier, doing his duty, damn the consequences for him.
He only hoped that at some point in the following weeks or months that his partner would see the truth in what he had told him their last night, and he would, sometimes, in the cramped darkness of his prison cell, allow himself to dream of being allowed to come home.

VALERIE III
Tumblr media
People in Twitter are twitting about a video of Val’s reaction when she saw Shawn and Camila, she received mixed comments about her reaction.
Her parents are really protective about her, even her siblings mostly Vernon. Her Dad and Mom doesn’t understand what’s happening between them, they all thought that Shawn is gonna be Valerie’s forever.
Of course Shawn saw the video. He’s not stupid, he knows that he’s hurting Val.
He also saw the message Valerie send him but he didn’t read the it because he knows he cannot stop himself on answering back.
He loves Valerie so much, but he has to do this.
When he first play the video the first came to his mind is that Valerie looks so pretty, very pretty. Valerie isn’t really like those blonde, long legged, orange tan (well she is tan but not oramge tan). She looks like a goddess. She’s perfect.
Then he saw Vernon from the background, Shawn gets along well with Valerie’s family well but Vernon is the hardest one to get along. He is scared genuinely of Vernon.
The time when Brian told him that Valerie broke up with him, he excused himself on sound check saying he wasn’t feeling well. He went back to his hotel and cried holding Valerie sweater in his chest.
He cried for the half of the day. He only went out when it’s Q&A.
He really wants to fix this but he can’t, it’s too fucked up to be fixed. He feels so powerless.
-
Valerie feels awful when she got back home.
She didn’t ate dinner instead she spend her whole evening, well half of it, on the gym boxing with Vernon is a good exercise but she did her exercises alone, she did it without a trainer while Vernon does cardio. Actually she didn’t even do her exercises, she just keeps punching the punching bag until her knuckles bleed, until they severely bleed. Her mom has to take her to the nearest clinic to aid her bloody knuckles.
“Val, you’re knuckles are going to bleed if you keep doing this. Stop it you’re hurting yourself.” Vernon tried reasoning with Valerie, growing more and more concerned about her and her new obsession with puching the punching bag carelessly.
“No, it’s either I ruined this punching bag or I do more stupider sh!t than this.” Valerie’s voice is quiet and cold, She always had a my-voice-is-so-soft-and-I-will-not-raise-my-voice-on-anyone-bc-that’s-rude-attitude.
“Can you at least where gloves, hand wrap is not enough you know.” Vernon reminder her.
Valerie didn’t listen and brought her fists close to her face, finding her aim and released all of her pent up anger, frustrations and pain out through quick, sharp punches, showing no mercy on the already worn punching bag wanting to release all the pain she felt in the past few weeks. Sweat glistened every inch of her body, especially in her face.
Tumblr media
Vernon can’t even distinguish if that even is sweat or tears, her curly hair sticking to her back, arms and all angles of her face.
Val could her Vernon stopping her in the background but she didn’t listen.
Soon the punching bag falls from where it’s hanging. And Valerie knuckles are bleeding.
“Dammit Valerie! You’re bleeding! Mom!” Vernon shouts.
Ever since Val and Shawn broke up Vernon is more over-protective of Val.
She really wants to go back to Toronto, but Toronto has too much memories for her to handle. She wishes that Bella and Gigi are here with her. She’s lucky enough to have a thought, loving and caring Anwar Hadid by her side.
Gigi, Bella and Anwar (even though they live near), Aaliyah, Ana, Lauren and Dylan (her friends back home), Kiera and Darius (her dorm mates) are texting her everyday saying that everything gonna be alright and Shawn’s a dick.
She can’t wait to go back to Massachusetts and receive pity looks. Insert sarcasm.
She just needs to wait few more days until they are schedule free.
Valerie hadn’t spoken to anyone since they came back from downtown Los Angles (besided her mom and Vernon who approach her). She is currently laying in her king sized bed.
Staring at the clock, watching it tick by. 11 o’clock in the night, she should be asleep by now but her mind is somewhere far away. Far away from all this drama and chaos that is currently happening in her life.
Sobbing her heart out. Puffy eyes and runny nose are they best description of Valerie right now. Maybe a fever in the morning too.
She never wanted to end their relationship like this. To be honest they can survive this relationship, Valerie is just tired of being treated like this.
Don’t get me wrong, Shawn’s a great boyfriend but he focuses on his career more than their relationship.
People though they are perfect for each other. She thought that Shawn will be THE ONE. Her grandparents from her mother and father’s side already met and approve of Shawn even the ones who live in Florence.
She genuinely believe that they are ment to be together but jealousy got her. Her insecurities got her.
Her heart still aches profoundly with pain. She miss her so much but it’s so unfair that he moved in that quickly.
Valerie, Shawn and Camila are trending right now. Everything seems so chaotic. Her sobs still fills her big room.
Instagram stans are making up the craziest sh!ts right, some makes her laugh and some are true that makes her cry hard.

Shawn is the greatest thing that ever happend to her.
Shawn’s fans been calling him out because of his stupid moves. Many of her fans are still supporting Valerie even if they are not together anymore.
Valerie shakily reaches for her phone she usually listens to His music when she’s sad, but at this state listening to His music will make her more sad than ever.
Malibu Nights by LANY played. Is it ironic that she is listening to Malibu Nights heartbroken and she really wants to go to Malibu. Its just a 40 minute car ride. She can survive right?
She brought a beach house recently somewhere in Pacific Coast Highway. She brought it the exact day Shawn left Canada to continue his tour, Valerie brought the house because when she will visit Shawn on his tour this will be their hiding place.
People say that Valerie have it all; Brains, Beauty, Wealth but everything means nothing if you aren’t happy right?
Decided to spent the rest of her days in Malibu. Valerie picked this big ass box that has been sent to her by a company. She didn’t even bother to read what company it is all she knows that is a clothing company. Few shoes, hoodies and her underwears on her bag.
She dressed herself into a pair of jeans and a shirt, hoodie on her arm incase she’ll needs it.
Everyone is asleep so this should be the perfect time to sneak out, she closed her room door quietly as she held the big box on her hands, struggling to balance it and keys and a Gucci bagpack filled with he laptop, personal needs, medicines and this tiny vape pen she got from Anwar.
Valerie isn’t the type of girl who does wild stuffs, stuff like normal teenagers do. Maybe that’s the reason why they broke up, she’s too boring for him.
Well now that they are over, Valerie wants to do the things she didn’t do when they were together. Things teenagers would do.
Now she be vaping, she wants to have tattooes too. Val got a rose tattoo behind her ear on her 19th birthday. She wants to add more.
Tumblr media
Valerie successfully got down from the 3rd floor, her room, to the ground floor.
She wants to do things that she hasn’t done yet. She opened her parents wine cellar and pulled out a bottle of Pinot Noir with a three bottles of beer and a big bottle of her father’s whiskey.
She didn’t really want to steal this alcoholic beverage but she know that many shops out there knows her and has a high possibility that they will post pictures about her underage and buying drinks.
She puts the bottles on her bag, wanting to go to Malibu quickly, she runs towards their garage, mentally kicking herself for having a loud foot steps.
For Valerie if is she’s sad or disappointed she chooses to be alone. Being with herself alone is always the best part of her day or best time of her day.
Valerie picked the black Mercedes-Benz G wagon.
She puts her things in the passengers seat and zoomed off to Malibu.
She felt tears start to form as the now familiar burn caused her to shut
her eyes for a moment and stop at the side of the expressway she like crying. For her crying is good for her mental health because crying can help reduce pain. Oxytocin is a hormone that promotes feelings of love and Endorphins help relieve pain. These two make people feel good and may also ease both physical and emotional pain.
But sometimes crying too much can also be bad for her, too much crying can lead to depression and she doesn’t want that. All she wants is to move on and live a happy life.
But moving on takes a lot of time.
The whole drive was quiet except for the radio and her quiet sobs.
She stopped on Target along the way to pick up some food for the next few days.
Valerie pulls up on the parking lot. The Californian cold wind creeps on her arm, regretting not wearing a hood and leaving it at the car.
Valerie pulls out the vape pen as she walks along the entrance of Target, she holds it to her mouth, tasting the vanilla flavored vape before releasing it. She lets out a deep sigh with some vapor leaving along her mouth and nose she continues this few times and stopping as she enters the shop.
She just pick up fruits for breakfast, pasta, vegetables and chicken for dinner, chocolate flavored milk, a gallon of water and eggs. She likes cooking, she doesn’t buy a lot of processed foods and microwaveble foods. She payed the cashier keeps giving her looks, is it because the cashier knows her or because she is the front page of one of the magazines on the counter.
“Is this you?” the cashier ask as she types something on the computer.
“Nope.” Valerie answers back as puts the goods she brought on a biodegradable bag and puts it back to the cart.
She walk back to her car and few teenagers curiously stares at her. She struggles to put the groceries on the car because it has a big tires and obviously a tall car competed to her 5’6 self.
She finally sees her house on the view.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Her gates open, headlights giving her the view of her house as well as the Pacific Ocean. The entryway features a reclaimed European fountain and big door that open to opulent interiors.
Her house looks so homey yet loney. She is used to go on a vacation with her family or family or with Shawn.
She inserts the keys while struggling to lift her heavy backpack filled with alcoholic drinks the big box and groceries she brought are stacked upon each other.
She enters her new house, she walks on the hardwood floors pushing the box with the groceries on top, she stares at vaulted ceiling and sees a Indian stone fireplace and custom designed sitting area.
For her, a house with a fireplace and a big couch is a must.
The balcony is a sliding door that has a view of the Malibu Coast.
Valerie finally fixed her clothes on her closet, turns out the box is from Gucci. Now she has a Gucci filled closet. Yey!
Her refrigerator is filled with groceries. Yey!
It’s already 12:34 am and she is still wide awake. She sits on her couch as she finds for her cell.
She looked everywhere, her hoodie, her bag, her car, on the closet even the refrigerator.
She left it on Bel Air. Yey!
She doesn’t have anything to do she she just drinks the alcohol she brought lol! Her TV still doesn’t have any channels and her house doesn’t have a wifi.
Valerie drinks the vodka shot in one gulp, ignoring the burning sensation in her throat caused by the strong liquor.
“I love you so much why did you do this to me!” she gulped the vodka down.
“I wish I didn’t love you! But I did I’m so stupid!” she gulped the other one.
“I don’t wanna date anyone anymore!” and another one.
Despite this, Valerie’s body feels more relaxed and her mind feels lighter and more problem free. It took her couple vodka shots for achieve this but it was worth it.
The bottle is nearly empty so she just decided to drink the bottle.
It’s a quarter past midnight. The buzz has worn off, now she is just dead ass drunk.
She miraculously arrived at her room, passing the stairs and remembering her room is a miracle.
As much as she wanted to sleep she washes her face and brushed her teeth and changes in a bougee Gucci pajama and sleep on her big bed with the view of the sea like a baby.

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde rewritten - Ch. 34
34. The memorable habits of Miss Donovan (and bar fights)
(A/N: here there be violence and dismemberment)
The physical injuries had healed well.
And now that both Jekyll and Hyde knew, that they had something like a family for the first time in their life, the wounds on their soul were beginning to heal as well.
But Hyde didn't feel strong enough to come out and go around to pursue his hobbies for a while.
Jekyll therefore had the pleasure of staying in control for almost a month, before Hyde got fidgety again.
“Are you sure you want to go back to that?”, he asked one evening, when Hyde demanded to be let out again. “Perhaps that scum will be back-”
“If he knows what's good for him, he won't”, his alter ego snarled in response.
“Hyde, I really don't think this is a good idea.”
“I need this, Jekyll”, the younger pointed out. “And so do you. Do you think I haven't noticed how you've gone back to your old self-repression? You want to be free again. And so do I.”
The Doctor didn't argue anymore.
He did laugh, though. “You're truly incorrigible.”
“Look who's talking!”, Hyde retorted.
Jekyll finished his work for the day and left his office.
Poole frowned, when he told him that he would go out tonight.
“Are you sure, Doctor?”, the elderly servant questioned. “Only a month after you-know-what?”
“It's alright”, Jekyll assured him. “We will be more careful this time. Don't worry, Arthur.”
Poole shook his head. “You're truly incorrigible, Henry.”
The blond chuckled. “I know.”
Only Poole got away with that cheek towards him.
“Mister Hyde! So good to see you again!”, the cash carrier* cried eagerly and approached the small brunette, when he entered the bar.
Hyde hid his scorn behind his creepy smile and told him that tonight he was just here to get drunk.
When he looked around, he recognised some men, he had bested on other occasions.
Some of them saw him and glowered, but Hyde didn't worry about them.
They wouldn't have the guts to do anything, he knew.
He jumped onto the counter and threw a Sovereign onto the table.
“Long time no see! The usual?”, the barkeeper inquired and Hyde nodded affirmatively.
“The usual. And pour it, where I can see it!”, he added scowling, when the barkeeper turned his back on him to pour the drink.
The man gulped. “Alright, alright!”
He stepped to the side, so the smaller man could see everything, poured the ale and handed him his pint.
“Thank you”, Hyde purred with false sweetness and strode over to his accustomed seat in the corner.
To his surprise, someone was already sitting at the table.
And it was none other than-
“No way!”, he exclaimed, “Miss Donovan! Fancy meeting you here!”
She turned her head, recognised him and grinned like a bedlam girl. “Likewise!”, she responded, “Been a while, hasn't it? Come and sit with me, Mr. Hyde!”
He did so.
This time she wasn't cross-dressing. Instead she was sporting a black and red dress. Her flame red curls were in a ponytail and she wore dark red lipstick and rouge.
Probably to lure men in.
Hyde knew a trap, when he saw one.
“How've you been?”, she asked cheerily.
“I'm getting better.”
“I can tell. Up to your debauchery again, eh?”
“Well, what can I say? I am and always will be a depraved man.”
“It's fine. Just don't go forcing yourself on people ever again. Now that you know what that feels like.”
Hyde frowned. “Oh, don't worry. I learned my lesson in that regard.”
She nodded. “Good.”
“Sooo”, Hyde drawled, “What are you doing here in a bar?”
The ginger shrugged. “Eh, ya know. Getting up the pole and looking for girls.”
Oh. So she's a queer too …
“Well, this is a brothel, so-”
“I'm not here to dab it up”, Miss Donovan revealed, “I want to find a lady-friend. Kinda hard for me to keep one.”
He looked at her in confusion.
It was hard for him to imagine.
Alma Donovan was an attractive girl, in almost every way. Even the piercing, feral look in her eyes – so much like his own – could be enticing. He certainly knew that a lot of men had a thing for wild, temperamental beauties.
She explained: “I'm mad. Maybe Luise told you, but I like to stab and mutilate blokes. They just 'ave to look at me funny and then they can say bye-bye to their crown jewels.”
Hyde cringed.
“Do I have to worry about losing mine?”, he queried.
She shook her head. “Unless you ever hurt a woman again, nah. Besides, you already got a taste of your medicine and promised to never do it again. So you're safe.”
Oh thank Heavens …
“And I have quite a few other quirks”, the ginger continued, “So every time I actually manage to get meself a girlfriend, it doesn't last long. I'm looking for a lady, who can put up with me madness.”
Oh.
Well, he knew a few tough girls. Tough enough for him, at least. And he was a madman himself, after all. So in theory, they would be able to handle that madwoman here too. But …
“Just out of curiosity, how do you treat your lady-friends?”
Suddenly, Miss Donovan grinned like a Chesire cat.
“Oh, I spoil them rotten!”, she cried excitedly, “Luise gives me a handsome allowance and I make quite a lot of money by placing bets! I'd give them the best I can afford, take them out for dates, protect them from perverts, teach them how to defend themselves and how to read and write, take care of them, be there when they need me-”
The plural form got his attention. “Them?”
Miss Donovan scratched her head awkwardly. “That's the other problem. Monogamy isn't me thing. That and the fact that I get into trouble so often … well, you get the idea. Have been jailed several times too. Luise cuts me allowance every time she has to bail me out.”
One of these girls, eh?
Hyde laughed: “Miss Donovan, I think you and I are going to get along just fine.”
“Call me Alma”, she requested, “Miss Donovan was me mother.”
The brunette grinned. “Call me Edward then.”
They shook hands and proceeded to chat about this and that.
Unfortunately their conversation was interrupted, when Hyde felt a presence behind himself.
Alma frowned. “Uhh, Edward?”
“I know”, he muttered and turned around to come face to face with a huge bloke, who was glaring down at him. He reminded Hyde of a gorilla Jekyll had once seen at the zoo.
“Can I help you, Sir?”, he asked coolly and with an unaffected expression.
“You sick in the head?”, the taller man snarled.
He raised an eyebrow. “Excuse me?”
“Ye heard me!”, the gorilla growled.
Hyde looked past him and caught sight of some men he remembered roughing up. They were whispering and staring at the gorilla, like he was off his head. Which he certainly was.
“I have a score to settle with ya!”
“No, you don't”, Hyde responded languidly. “If we'd brawled before, I'd remember you.”
One of the workers in the background stood up and put a hand on the moron's shoulder.
“Are you off your rocker?!”, the man hissed, “That gremlin looks small, but he holds a candle to the devil.”*
A gremlin?!
He heard Jekyll snort in his head and almost laughed too. But Hyde was in a good mood, so the other man was off the hook. Besides, that was one of the more harmless things he'd been called so far.
“Well, you would know, wouldn't you?”, Hyde remarked, smirking.
“See, Sir”, he turned back to the gorilla, “That man would have a score to settle with me. And so do those three gentlemen in the back.”
He pointed at three other men, who were sitting at one of the other tables. The worker returned to his chair at their table.
“They're just wise enough not to”, Hyde continued. “And you should be too. Or you can just tell me what you actually want.”
“Ye must be that Hyde-fella”, the giant growled.
“'Sup?”
“I heard things about ya!”
“Really now?” Hyde's eyes narrowed. He was starting to feel extremely agitated. Why couldn't that twit just leave them alone? Normally he would have punched him in the gut by now, but he didn't feel like getting himself another house ban.
“Ye start brawls and beat people up for kicks”, the bigger man growled.
And you don't? Hypocrite.
“Even if they're over twice yer size-”
And what does that tell you?! Sod off!
“-Almost killed some old geezer for no reason-”
How the hell did that bastard know that?! Sir Danvers Carew hadn't pressed charges or given his name! The only witness had been a maid and Lady Summers had bought her silence. No one knew that it had been him!
Hyde feigned ignorance: “Some old geezer? Rumours! I can't think of one!”
Jekyll snorted: “Fibbing, Hyde? That's not like you.”
Shut up, Jekyll. Besides, it's easy to deny, when he doesn't say who he means.
Well, at least the fib had the desired effect. It threw the other off. Good. So he had only heard rumours about it. He couldn't prove anything. He didn't even know, if it was true.
The brunette scoffed: “Telling stories with no basis on reality? Pathetic! Now, for the last time, who are you and what do you want?”
I swear, if I have to ask one more time-
“I'm Bob Smith”, the gorilla told him.
“And I'm Queen Victoria”, Hyde responded, mimicking a falsetto and batting his eyelashes. “Guess who I am!”
Some people cackled in the background. Alma chortled and even Jekyll laughed in his head.
The gorilla's scowl intensified. “I'm tryin' to talk to ye, little shit!”
“As am I. And I'm currently failing. And I'm sorry for that. But I'm just so irritated! Because a plastered gorilla just strolled up to me and my friend, interrupted our conversation and is trying to intimidate me, like I'm one of the underage attendants!”
Hyde stared him right into the eyes. He could tell that, if he stood up, he still wouldn't even reach up to the giant's chest, so he didn't bother. Also, he'd bested men of that size before, some of them being professional brawlers. And he was in the perfect position to-
Suddenly the gorilla grabbed him by the collar, which made him gasp in surprise.
“Don't give me that sass, ye brat!”, he snarled. “I'll tear ye to pieces an'-”
Before he could continue, Hyde decided that he had enough and kicked him in the nuts with all his strength.
The gorilla let go and wailed like a little girl. Then he dropped onto the floor, clutching his crown jewels and cursed up a storm.
Priceless.
Utterly priceless.
The brunette scoffed: “Look at you! Acting tough, but a simple knock in the nuts is enough to knock you off your feet. Pathetic.”
“Oi!”, Alma suddenly piped up and stood up. She came around the table and grabbed the man by the hair. “I remember you!”
Her ice blue ice narrowed to slits.
“I saw you 'ere a fortnight ago! You're that piece of shit, who walked off with one of the underage attendants! That ten-year-old gal, if I remember correctly.”
So that gorilla is one of those blokes, huh?
“Ew! Gross!”, Jekyll groaned in disgust. “And you call me a dirty old man, Hyde! At least I don't use children to satisfy my carnal desires!”**
Yes, that's one of your redeeming qualities, Hyde thought drily.
Meanwhile Alma was grinning maniacally. “Why, there's only one appropriate way to 'andle blokes like you!”
To the brunette's surprise, she charmed a knife from her glove. “Now”, she purred darkly, “You will find out, why they call me 'Unmanning Alma'!”
Ohhhh, this is going to be good!
“Hyde, no.”
Hyde, yes!
Hyde was quite convinced, that the knife was blunt. Which made this whole thing even better!
But before more could happen, someone new entered the brothel.
He couldn't believe his eyes. “Lucy!”
She turned to face him. “Oh, Mr. Hyde! Good evening!”
He frowned. “What are you doing here? I thought I told you to leave this place!”
The black-haired woman smiled. “Don't worry, I'm just here to get my clothes. It took me a while to find a room somewhere, but now I finally have a nice one.”
Hyde composed himself. Finding a nice and affordable place to live was extremely hard here in London, he knew that.
Lucy went up to the pimp and they began a talk, which quickly turned into an argument.
His eyes narrowed.
Oh no, that snake was not going to take Lucy's things for himself!
“Is there a problem?”, he asked the pimp icily.
The snake began to talk some gibberish about Lucy having debts.
“I see”, Hyde replied coolly and turned to Lucy: “When you moved out, how much did he charge you?”
“Sixty Pounds”, Lucy huffed. “And I paid! Now he wants another twenty!”
“Sixty? Her possessions are worth less than forty – which I know, because I calculated it. But since you're so eager to rob an ex-prostitute, let's settle this business once and for all.”
Hyde turned around, rummaged in his bag and then turned to them, his hands behind the back. “Alright”, he began darkly. “In one hand I'm holding my bag, that contains medical equipment, as well as all the money you could ever dream of. In the other, I have a walking cane stable enough to bash someone's skull in. Of course”, he added with a sneer, “The other option would be that you land behind bars for hiring underage prostitutes. Just a brief reminder, the age of consent was raised up to sixteen last summer. But then again, when has that ever stopped people from lusting for little brats, eh?”
The pimp stared at him for a full minute.
“Her debts are more than settled”, he finally uttered weakly. Then he backed off and let Lucy get her last things. When she returned downstairs, the snake was waiting for her and shoved a bag of money into her hands. “Here you have twenty pounds, just keep your mouth shut!”
Hyde snorted. The things people did to avoid getting apprehended!
“Oh shut up!”, Jekyll scoffed in his head, “You turn into me, when you get into trouble with the police!”
You shut up, Jekyll!
“No, you!”
Just for the record, I haven't got into trouble with the police since that Carew affair! Now shut up and let me enjoy the show!
“What show? This one or Miss Donovan castrating that paedophile?”
Oh, right. He had forgot about that bugger.
When he turned to the red-head, she had knocked the gorilla out cold and was staring at Lucy, like she was the most gorgeous thing in the world.
To be fair, the black-haired woman was the most beautiful girl he knew.
An idea popped into Hyde's head.
He took the surprised Lucy by the hand and guided her to his new friend (who quickly hid her knife).
“Let me introduce you to Lucy Harris, a woman who's too good for this sinful world – don't you dare deny it, Lucy”, he added, when she wanted to object. “And this is Alma Donovan, a friend of mine, who is just as mad as I am.”
“Charmed!”, Alma cried enthusiastically and shook the blushing woman's hand. “It's an honour to meet a remarkable lady such as yourself!”
“Uhm … likewise …”, Lucy mumbled shyly, obviously not knowing how to deal with this.
Jekyll laughed in Hyde's head.
“I didn't pin you to be a match-maker!”, he teased. If he had been corporeal, Hyde would've stuck his tongue at him.
Oh shut up, if these two hook up, it might give me an advantage!
“Sure, Hyde. Whatever helps you sleep at night! There is no way you could be doing this, because you want two people who helped you to be happy!”
I would strike you, if I could.
“But you cahaaan't!”, Jekyll taunted him. “Come on, Edward! You know that I'm right!”
The brunette puffed his cheeks in annoyance.
Better half, his arse! Also, how old was that man again? Oh yeah, fifty! He was a dirty, fifty-year-old bastard!
A groan got their attention. Oh, the gorilla was waking up.
The two mad people excused themselves and dragged the half-conscious man outside and into an alley. Hyde kicked him in the solar plexus for good measure, to render him defenceless.
But when Donovan had her blunt knife out, Hyde laughed and took a scalpel out of his bag. “That knife is too blunt. Use this, that'll be quicker.”
Alma took the medical tool and made short work of the man's nether regions.
She and Hyde cackled maniacally as the child-molesting bastard screamed, then left him to writhe in agony.
“I need to go back”, Hyde told her, “I still have to pay for my drink.”
She grinned. “Maybe Miss Harris hasn't left yet”, she hoped.
I'm sure one of her ex-colleagues is keeping her back for a few minutes to chat, he assumed.
And sure enough, he was right.
Lucy was leaning outside, next to the door and chatting with one of her colleagues, who had crept outside for some fresh air.
Hyde recognised the other woman. That French girl … what was her name … oh right, Marianne.
Alma went up to them and joined in their conversation, while he went back inside to pay.
Everyone was obviously glad, when he paid up and left the place.
Then he had a short talk with the three women (Lucy inquired how he was doing), before turning to go home. “Goodbye, ladies! It was fun to pass time with you!”
“Likewise!”, Alma laughed and waved back.
Then they all went their separate ways.
Hyde was still elated, when he arrived at his flat.
Sure, he hadn't got up the pole tonight, but damn! He had found himself one sister in arms!
“This was the best evening in ages!”, he exclaimed happily.
“I can imagine it was”, Jekyll deadpanned and appeared in the mirror.
“This is my nightmare!”, the blond groaned and shook his head. “You found a partner in crime, who's just as deranged as you are!”
The brunette cackled and revelled in the other's exasperation.
Meanwhile Lady Summers was doing paper work, when her telephone rang and she jumped.
With a frustrated sigh, she took the receiver. “Hello, Lady Summers speaking?”
In the next moment she winced and held the receiver away from her ear.
“You, Luise! I just had the best evening ever!”
Why did Alma have to shout into the phone like that?!
“Let me guess, you castrated someone?”, the Lady sighed in annoyance.
“That too, but I met some really interesting people!”
“Did you now?”
“Yes! First off, I stumbled upon Hyde in a brothel-”
“What were you doing there?!”
“I'm coming to that – and we chatted about this and that, when this huge gorilla of a man interrupted our conversation and started to annoy Edward-”
Oh, so it's first name basis now?
“-and you won't believe this! It was the same guy, who screwed that little girl the other day! The one I didn't get to punish, because I had to leave early!”
“Aha.”
“And just as I wanted to give him, what he deserved, this absolutely gorgeous woman walked in! She was so cute and beautiful, damn! It's true love, I know it! And Edward introduced me to her! Her name is Lucy Harris! She's so adorable! I asked for her address and get this! She just moved into the house where I live! Isn't that amazing?! Maybe I'll finally have a lasting relationship! And I also got to know a Frenchwoman, who is apparently a former colleague of Lucy's. A really bricky**** lady, I tell you!”
The Prussian needed a minute to process all of this.
Then she recovered her spirit.
“That's nice, Alma. But you still haven't told me what you were doing in a run-down brothel bar in Soho.”
“I was looking for a potential girlfriend! You know how hard it is for me to keep one! And every woman in Whitechapel knows me. They don't want anything to do with me. I don't even know why! I'm doing them a favour with what I do! Anyway, I hoped that maybe I'd be luckier in one of the other districts. And I thought prostitutes would be a good thing to start with, because they're tougher than others.”
That's in the eye of the beholder, the Lady thought drily.
“Have you told Mr. Hyde about your favourite pastime?”, she asked curiously.
“Yeah. But he was calm about it, after I told him that he has nothing to fear. He even helped me castrate that child-molesting gorilla! I think I found myself a brother in arms!”
Lady Summers groaned: “This is my nightmare! You found a partner in crime, who's just as deranged as you are!”
