I knew I would cry just from the trailer but when it got to the second part of the movie and things started getting serious I cried (real tears) so much, it's honestly one of the saddest movies I've seen in a while and the whole connection, friendship, pure love between the two girls is everything, such a soul-touching movie

Amazon's adaptation of author Audrey Shulman breezy young adult tearjearker novel about baking cakes, looking for love, and caring for your best cancer-stricken best friend mostly lives up to the source material. Yara Shahidi and Odessa A'zion star as said barhopping besties with enough charm. However, the film lacks a focus and the friend bond between the two leads isn't entirely clear despite their breezy on-screen chemistry. There's actually less sitting in bars with cake than you might expect.

Just watched Sitting in Bars with Cake and it was fucking beautiful 😭💙Funny, devastating and inspiring those ladies were so brave and selfless (and the actresses performances were phenomenal) Such a great cast, banging soundtrack and incredibly touching friendship at the heart of it. I'm in tears
