Character Information XXIII: Immortality
As Immortality is a very big topic in Zivs story, for she after all is the Warden of a Murakmi-Orchid that is the cause of the Sickness and is the main -indriegent to a Sith-Ritual to archive immortality, she was eventually forced through her bound with the Orchid to think about immortality and its meaning.
Ziv had always known how she would die- young, while protecting people who can not fight for themself. She had never thought that she would live especially long. That does not mean that she seeks out death as after all she is a Healer and as long as she stays alive she can and will help people with her knowledge and skills. Yet when her time comes she will go after putting up a proper fight for when she goes, she knows her life had been spend helping and healing as much as possible. If she has to, she knows that she will let go. After all when she dies, the Murakami -Orchid will also die and that means that her task protecting it is also finished. Ziv grew up under Jedi teachings, her life is a life dedicated to serving people even more after she joined the Agricorps and also after the end of the Jedi-Order. However, in the same manner Ziv came as a Healer, especially after Order 66 and with that after her ability to use Force-Healing and with that her strongest conenction to the Force was blocked through Trauma, too often too close to physical Death to actually continue believing in the “There is no Death, there is only the Force”- part of the philosophy she grew up with. There is the Force always in Life and she can feel it at every moment especially when she is working as a Healer. At the same time for her as a Healer Death is not a abstract thing at the end of ones time waiting, but a permanent companion which means either her own death or even worse the death of her patients. Accordingly in a very un-jedi-like-fashion in her mind Death is Death and Death is nothing and the end. A person lives and when their time comes, they die and disappear. The search for immortality is not only unnatural, but also wastes the little time one has during ones life to serve the people around oneself.
In short- Her training as a Healer, especially during times of war had turned Ziv in a “hardcore” realist too disillusioned by the pain and Deaths she had witnessed to ever believe that immortality is worth following. She believes in Life and that the time one is alive should be used to serve others. Also Ziv knows the painful details of how immortality can be archieved with the help of the Murakami- Orchid that had bound to her and that Ritual includes infecting oneself with the Sickness and cutting Zivs beating heart out with a Sithsword and eating it. Ziv really likes her own heart beating in her chest so she is relatably and obviously not especially keen on everything including the topic of immortaility, even more when she is a little older and had been to the Quarantaine Zone in Darthomir to see the catastrophe the Sickness had caused there.
#headcanon#irrfahrer#Ziv Odiz' zee#thats a lot of words to say that Ziv is really 'meh' about immortality
